Good not great I remembered really liking the truffle ramen from the Silverlake/LA location so I tried it here, but it was sub par. Didn't leave a review then but I decided to come back and give it another chance. this time I got the spicy Tonkotsu with chicken. With the combo deal I think it's a pretty decent price. I got the karaage combo and the karaage was crispy, juicy, and pretty good. The chicken in the ramen was tasty too, not dry. Just a little disappointed with the soft noodles as I like my noodles on the harder side. If you want good chicken ramen, go to Marufuku instead. Also a strange thing is their alcohol menu says lemon chu-hi but it was actually grapefruit chu-hi that came with a piece lemon in the glass lol I don't mind it as I like both, but just a heads up for ppl that don't like grapefruit flavor... The rewards app is a little weird as when you check in, it starts a timer for the server to come and input your code... why the timer??? Ordered takeout from here and felt like it was "okay" overall. I got the Shoyu on Fire, and everything came warm and fresh, but the flavors just weren't what I was hoping for. The broth was a bit too oily and the chicken was way too chewy, making for a lackluster experience. I did enjoy the spice, though I had ordered a medium and it definitely felt much hotter than that. I was expecting more flavor in the broth, but it was mainly just heat and the herbs carrying the flavor profile (it felt like a really spicy chicken broth). The noodles were fine, though a bit chewy. I'm not sure I'd order takeout again, but may consider stopping by if I'm in the area and craving ramen. This is my go to place when I want a quick bite of Asian food and I love the rice bowls that they have. My absolute favourite is the pork rice bowl. I've tried several of their rice bowls, the curry rice bowl, their new chicken rice bowl, but my absolute favourite is still the pork one The staff here is always nice and the decor is very reminiscent of those tiny little Japanese bistro. This location of Silverlake Ramen is near Tastea and Urban Plates in Irvine. I came after work and the restaurant was pretty empty. The waitress put me at a small table that was by their order window and their staff was really close to bumping into me the whole time. Super annoying. And the waitress went to rearrange the condiments at the table next to me with her butt in my face for the longest time. No common sense at all. She could have stood at any other angle and it would have been less odd. Anyways, I ordered the Classic Tonkotsu ($16.50) and opted for the pork. It comes with creamy pork stock, bean sprouts, spinach, green onions, seaweed, black garlic oil and a seasoned egg. I opted out of the bean sprouts and added corn ($1.75). When it came out the amount of green onions was ridiculous, I had to scoop some out. It was probably thee worst bowl of ramen I ever had. One tiny piece of pork. I only ate half of the noodles and decided to give up on the rest. I literally ate cup noodle that night and it tasted better. I really like their broth with the black garlic but finding parking and waiting during peak times at the Spectrum has always made me shy away to other places where the broth doesn't pack a punch like this place. Decided to try this place randomly for lunch on a weekday and it was just okay. I got the shoyu ramen with pork and it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The ramen just didn't taste very authentic to me. Again, it's a decent bowl of noodles but I would not come again as there are many other better and more authentic tasting japanese ramen shops around. They also did not have shimichi (japanese spice pepper powder) which was disappointing. They only had a red pepper paste for extra charge but all other ramen stores would also have shimichi available for those who just want a little bit of extra flavor. This location is a great alternative to when you want Silverlake Ramen but don't want to deal with the long wait at the Spectrum. Their new spot in Crossroads was so chill on an early Saturday evening that we had at least four different people ask us how our food was. Food seems more or less the same as the one at the Spectrum. My go to is the Shoyu Ramen because the chicken broth isn't as heavy as the ones with pork. I usually go with pork but opted for chicken on this visit. I knocked off a star because my Shoyu Ramen was missing the egg, which is my favorite. I thought maybe it was due to the egg shortage or something and that they should have knocked off a buck or two, but afterwards my dining companions both confirmed they had eggs in their ramen. My wife and I have been going to Silverlake ramen before it branched out and franchised and the quality has always been consistent. Even in Vegas where we lived for 3 years then back to SoCal. Both bowls were delicious as expected. We then ordered a cha shu bao bun so our daughter could eat something. She's only a year and a half and usually likes bread. She took a bite and spat it out. My wife and I took a bite and were unfortunately disgusted because it tasted like.. chemicals or plastic? Not too sure but it wasn't great. Got that voided but I saw the owner or store manager go to the back and asked the employees what happened. To our surprise, she came over and redid the bao and explained she tried it herself and fixed it. I gave the 4 stars because of this level of service. Silverlake does it right in food and service. When it's bad, they do good by you. We miss the going to the one in Silverlake and Vegas and we used to go to the one at LBX too. All great service and honestly the food is always good. Arrived early dinner on a Saturday and the place was empty with one other table occupied. We were greeted right away and they let us choose where to sit which I loved. Picked a table by the wall with a little privacy. We ordered the Combo Classic with fried gyoza and the Garlic truffle. Both broths were very flavorful and clean and noodles were chewy. We opted for pork for our protein and it was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful as well. The garlic truffle had kale which I think was also sauteed with some seasoning because it was also soft and flavorful. Egg was done just right for my liking. Servers were very attentive and checked on us frequently. I put in a separate order of a classic combo and pork bun to go and it was ready right away. A colleague of mine and I recently tried Silverlake Ramen, located at The Crossroads, for lunch. We arrived earlier so the place wasn't crowded at all. Very clean and contemporary place. Open kitchen in the back. Customer service was excellent since it wasn't busy yet. The waitress periodically will come check on us. We tried: *Shoyu ramen (3/5): Includes chicken stock with shoyu, bamboo, a soft egg, a choice of protein (chicken/pork/tofu), and seaweed. I went with tofu to have a light lunch. While the ramen was delicious, the broth was mediocre, and they didn't give a lot of tofu and bamboo. Slightly disappointed. *Spicy tuna bowl (3/5): Includes spicy tuna, mixed greens, fried onions, onion dressing, avocado, and rice. It's a small bowl for $10.63.
