We stayed 6 days and 5 nights and rented the whole Wailea Inn house as well as the Penthouse Duplex house at Makoa Resorts for my grandmother's side of the family reunion! It took two years to plan. My mother and I had awesome back and forth communication and conversations via planning the reunion with the reservations manager Alyssa! We stayed there in June of 2023 and I plan of inquiring to rent out the entire property for June 2027 for my family reunion of 90+ people! The property manager was very attentive to feedback we provided via text and if there was a minor fix needed he came at an appropriate time. FYI for anyone coming to Hawaii. A few bugs or cockroaches are completely normal no matter where you are! You are on a tropical island. Grab one slippah and suck up your attitude! We were one of the first large groups to rent the large house after it came under new ownership and management. I would disregard any negative reviews before 2022. Aloha!

It gives me zero pleasure to write this review…read more We've hosted yoga retreats at Wailea Inn, Squaw Valley California and in Napa Wine Country. Our retreats were named "One of California's Top Ten Yoga Retreats" by Travel Mag. We placed a deposit in 2019 for a retreat. Due to Covid we rebooked it for June 12th, 2022. I was getting organized for the retreat, and for some reason, I looked up the most recent reviews. The photos from recent guests showed cockroaches, bed bugs/ants, and a myriad of other issues including sewage smells, sagging mattresses, and broken appliances. I called Randie Mead, the Property Manager and said "Surely this is a smear campaign against you, right? This isn't the Wailea Inn I remember?" She told a lovely story that some people don't know the difference between geckos and frogs or understand the charm of geckos (or frogs?) in a Hawaiian home. I told her that I used to live in the Virgin Islands and completely understood the charm of both geckos and frogs, but I had people flying in from literally around the world for a high-end yoga retreat, and is the property in good working order? She was vague and mentioned that due to matters out of their hands the pergola is gone (which means no group dinners or we have to run around and find an alternative), that the floors are worn down and the place is in need of repair, but FEAR NOT it's getting renovated. I said, "When?" She said "October." I said, "How does that help my $20,000+++ rental fee to you for June?" She then mentioned their property next door which looked gorgeous and she sorta picked out a few rooms that might be available but not for the full week. So the majority of guests would be in bedbug-infested rooms (those are not ants, ants don't congregate in beds), I guess we'd move guests from one property to the next mid-week as rooms became available or not, and the other guests would be in luxury apartments? (Holy future lawsuit and rage from varying guests!) She seemed to have no concept that this was a retreat with a chef and a masseuse and staff. A retreat that people saved up for and planned on years in advance and in which guests pay a significant amount of money for airfare, childcare, and vacation days just to get to the property. She went back to the geckos and I said "Those aren't geckos in the photos they are cockroaches and bedbugs/ants." To which Randie said quietly, "Mmmmmmm hmmm." Today we canceled our yoga retreat 117 days prior to our start date and asked for our $3k deposit. Randie said under no circumstances would the new owner refund our deposit, and he was "honoring" our reservation from the previous owner. (Since when is taking $20k for a crappy property "honoring" something?) She sent a long meandering email, one I'm guessing she has sent to many many enraged guests. She answered all my worries with details from the contract, instead of doing the right thing and saying, "You're right, the property is in disrepair. This isn't what you signed up for, here's your $3k back." Doing the right thing is so easy. She also said that I might be able to fly out in March to look at the property for an hour, but I couldn't go into any of the rooms. Huh? Here's what's going down in this place, it was run into the ground during covid, flooding, sewer smells, no upkeep. The old owner dumped it on the new owner. The new owner doesn't give a shit and is just swindling people until they can renovate it. As a small business, (Hot Yoga Republic) we spent today refunding thousands upon thousands of dollars in deposits and booking fees that we'll never get back. Why? Because our name means something and so does doing the right thing. We might be out of our deposit, but alas, karma is a bitch. Namaste Wailea Inn.

And her response to our bad review was exaggerated and untruthful. She obviously took it personal even though we said she was kind in our review. I do not recommend her or their Kihei rental house. It had nothing to do with the extra $100 cleaning fee, that's just hilarious. For the money we paid to stay here the house just wasn't worth it. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere if you want a good experience, clean house, and a stress free vacation and deposit refund. We also rented through another vacation rental company the week before renting Sherry's Kihei home right next door and had zero problems or complaints about them or from them. Infact I highly recommend them. Go check out Tropical Villa Vacations and ask for Yvonne. You will be much happier I promise!

She put my doubts to ease and kept in contact by email till I arrived to our rental property, on 08/05/2014. The property was beautiful and the pictures did not do it justice. The beach was 15 feet away, right in the back yard. When we go back, we will definitely be calling again. Thank you again, Sherry!

We had the best time and got our accommodation through Emerald Kite. It was an excellent experience. The condo had just been remodeled and was very nice inside and was right on the beach. It was important for me to have internet service as I was working during my stay and what a view from my "temporary office"! The beach was great and the pool was hard to leave. We loved the amenities at the Royal Kahana. Whenever we had questions where to eat or what to do the team at Emerald Kite just jumped right in. Highly recommend Maui and the Emerald Kite Welcome team just helped make the trip better as we didnt know a lot about the area and with Emerald Kite's help, we made the most of our time! I would suggest if you don't live on the west coast stay at least 7 nights because the flight was long and takes a day or so to recover. Can't wait to take our grandkids back!

She helped us find catering for the anniversary dinner and was very knowledgeable about the area. We felt very welcomed and supported yet felt like we had the place to ourselves. We would absolutely stay there again! Thank you Vacation Rentals on Maui!

If you're looking for an upscale stay on Maui look elsewhere. I say this only to set expectations…read more Worldmark Kihei, with its uber-close walk to a nice beach, has everything you need for your Hawaiian vacation but some folks prefer something more upscale. There were 4 of us on this Hawaiian visit and unusual to me was a decision to cook most meals in the Kihei condo as well as pack lunches in advance to prepare for our days at the beach. For this, the condo was perfect. There are pots and pans, cups and plates, utensils and seasonings. Don't see what you need? Call the front desk and it'll be delivered to you promptly. I was on the 4th floor in a condo with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and even a Murphy bed in the common space. There was an ample seating area to eat in, space to relax, and a balcony outfitted with table and chairs and a slice of sunset view. Parking (included) was always available in the lot just below where I stayed. There's a pool, kid's pool, and hot tub on-site and they're ample but not if you've grown accustomed to any offered by the major resorts. These are outside in an enclosed area with no views and no charm. I did use the hot tub and appreciated the temperature and its' ample size. My favorite unexpected thing about staying here is that people leave things behind when they depart for home. In the "clubhouse" there was a makeshift wall where people had left beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, and more. Outside, on any random morning, you might find that departing guests have left a stash of groceries they couldn't take with them: loaves of bread, boxes of crackers, frozen waffles, and hunks of cheese. So even though you've made the obligatory Hawaii Costco run when staying in a condo, you might not find much need to go a second time. Across the street is an ABC Store and a snorkel rental spot and the market is a not too distant drive from here. Worldmark Kihei was a good home base from which to explore the western shore of the island and though the drive to some of the island's best beach destinations was over 35 minutes away, there were plenty of less notorious beaches to enjoy in this area for a shorter daily drive. Bottom line? Worldmark Kihei was a perfectly fine, clean, quiet place of lodging for 4 people for 8 nights.

There was no place to hang clothing. When we did notify Vacasa, they said they would give me back the $270 cleaning fee I paid. Vacasa misrepresents the properties, and in my opinion, this was a health risk and consumer fraud case. I will report and provide photos. Bedroom closets were stuffed with miscellaneous items, vacuum, boxes, no room to hang clothing.
