Stayed in C109. Place had everything we needed and was clean on arrival. Only unfortunate circumstance is that the bedroom windows face the elevators so you can clearly hear anyone making small talk on the way to the elevator. Easy walk to loads of restaurants and cafes. It's a Wrap has the best lattes, coconuts fish tacos are the real deal and if you like traditional sushi make reservations at 1054 Togoshi. Best eel and toro i've ever had! Went to Kamana kitchen for Indian food on Christmas. Authentic and delicious!!

When you need to get away for a few days, it's time to hit the islands. Maui is an amazing place and these condos that we rented our amazing to stay at. We have great views of everything and we are centrally located to everywhere that we want to be. Or in a go check out that Island brewery later on today. When you're in Maui and you need a place to stay this is the place you should check out.

We stayed here for 3 days in June/July and it was wonderful. We rented the unit through VRBO #652796, unit C511 and Gloria Roman. The unit is beautiful, recently updated and comes with all of the amenities you would ever need, making this truly feel like your "home away from home". Gloria goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and like "ohana", she even left a nice little gift basket with a fresh pineapple, coffee, cookies, an embroidered towel with our names on it and fresh banana bread! Talk about customer service!!!! There are beach chairs, ice chests, umbrellas and boogie boards for your use in the unit. It is in a great location right by shopping, excellent restaurants and literally right across the street from the beach. This is a very nice unit, highly recommended and something we will use again for sure. Thanks Gloria!

I have nothing bad to say about this place. The location is excellent. The pools are fabulous. The grills at the pool areas were clean and worked great. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked great. Everything was clean and worked great. Amazing view. Fairly priced. Fast internet. I'd stay here again in a heart beat! We had a couple of issues but they sent a repair person within hours and fixed it right away.

    Unit C616

Unit C-616 is NOT good. We have stayed in this complex now at least once or twice a year since 2013 (6 years). We've only had one (other) terrible experience which is why I am rating 4 instead of 5 stars. This trip we stayed in unit C-616. The good? The views are breathtaking (Haleakala to the left and ocean to the right). The property is well maintained and the unit was clean (the only other bad experience was with a filthy unit full of roaches in Building D). But now regrettably, the bad. This unit is terribly run down and dated. No A/C (2 broken fans in bedroom and 1 gigantic floor unit in middle of living area). We stayed during October with unusual heat but regardless, it was impossible to sleep in this unit unless we slept ON the pull out sofa next to the gigantic AC machine. The photos show the rest of this sloppy unit. It was indeed clean - but honestly, just a disaster inside. We won't stay in this unit again, but we will stay in Kihei Akahi.

We are giving Kihei Akahi 5 stars, not in the sense of "5 star (expensive!) hotel," but in the sense that it fits us perfectly when we visit Maui. As you can see from other reviews, these are privately owned condos listed with different rental agencies, so you have to do your homework if you are a first timer. For example, some renters may actually prefer an older lower priced unit with fewer amenities while others will not be happy without a newly remodeled unit with all the trimmings including the best view. So, what does "fits us perfectly mean?" First, the general location on Maui. Having explored Maui on many trips, Kihei's seemingly endless variety of walkable businesses means that we are always discovering new things. Unlike the resort towns that seem rather one-dimensional, it has a down home feel, with employees able to live there. It's reported that Kihei has much the same feel that it did in the 70s. The next closest "fit" for our desires is Lahina, about 45 minutes away. But we would rather visit Lahina than the other way around. There are a variety of high quality beaches and snorkeling areas nearby. Next, the specific location in Kihei. We like "quiet, but close to the action." If you stroll along the beach road, most rentals, especially on the beach side, give off a bustling vibe that lasts well into the evening. There seems to be a lot of group activities going on in pools and around flame-lit tables. That's nice, but not what we want to come "home" to. Kihei Akahi is just across the road from wonderful beaches and the bustle, yet when you go up the entrance road past the outdoor fresh water shower, the ambiance seems to instantly change to quite and even reflective. As we stroll through the beautiful sweet smelling grounds we hear birds and the wind in the palms. The clientele seem to respect this ambiance, speaking softly. There are nice swimming pools and communal bar-b-q areas, but we have never encountered boisterousness in our many stays there. We have been very happy staying in units C307 and C315, owned by the same family. These condos are attractively remodeled with queen bed and hide-a-bed sofa, washer/dryer/air conditioner/dishwasher, well stocked kitchens and beach gear in the closets. The lanai of these units overlook fragrant gardens with tall palm trees and views toward Haleakala and the sea. There are fine touches like paperback books that you are free to take if you don't finish them before your stay in paradise has to end. One possible negative is slow WiFi service to the buildings. It was usually okay for email, but if it is important that you be able to watch a video or stream a movie, be sure to check that the service has been upgraded.

Feeling home away from home. I had a great experience at this location. The rooms were spacious, the breeze that went through the condo unit amazing. The views of the ocean was beautiful. The rooms were clean, a little outdated but it was okay. Overall experience was good. I'd visit this location again.

This was our first trip to Maui, and honeymoon, and I had SO many questions. Brete was patient and such a great resource. You can really feel the aloha and pride they have for Maui. Not only was he helpful in our Airbnb chats, but he had one of the most thorough guidebooks at the condo. And a lovely touch, we had a handwritten welcome note and a few Maui treats to start our stay! Now on to the condo, G110 in the Ginger cluster (so cute) this is such a beautifully appointed home with the most wonderful patio (lanai) view! I am not a morning person, but I was up by 6:30 with my coffee on the lanai enjoying the sounds of the island waking up. The patio alone is reason to book this condo! All sorts of birds and of course, the famous Maui chickens, walk the lawn. One morning I saw a cute little mongoose of some sort! That was definitely not on my bingo card, but a magical moment. Also, the property is immaculate in its care...beautiful landscaping and I loved the Christmas decor. We had our own parking spot super close to the unit too. There is something so special about traveling to an island during Christmas time...we ended each night cuddled on the comfy couch watching holiday shows. Speaking of comfy, even though I don't prefer a soft bed, I slept like a baby in the master bedroom. I really appreciated having 2 bathrooms, to get ready faster for our adventures! There's even a 2nd lanai right off the bedroom, beautiful light in the mornings. Brete is thoughtful to offer beach chairs and fun equipment for the beach, saving us more money for Mai Tais! I love to cook at home, but I took the honeymoon off...I did look into the kitchen, and not only do they have a lovely new stove, but they also had everything you could possibly need if you wanted to whip up meals. We only used the stove to reheat leftover kalua pork & pineapple pizza from South Shore Tiki Lounge. Please don't judge, it's fantastic with jalapenos! We ADORED our stay in Kihei, it's such a great middle point between Lahaina and Wailea. So many wonderful beaches close by, Kamaole 1, 2, and 3, as well as Keawakapu. Parking was a breeze at all of these beaches and if you love snorkeling, you must add Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve to your list, 25 minutes south! My list of faves from our time in Kihei: Water: We rented paddle boards from Aunty Snorkel, great service and integrity. Ask for Mark or Jake! They checked conditions before completing our transaction, there's no refunds for weather or wind conditions. Ultimate Whale Watch & Snorkel-the highlight of our trip, based in Lahaina. Try and reserve a tour with Captain Jill and Casey. I am an avid snorkeler and have been on countless excursions. These two ladies were so knowledgeable, and you could feel their "malama kai" care for the ocean. Two snorkel stops & we were fortunate to see whales, even though it was super early in the season November 28th!!! Breaching, blow spouts and three whale tails, great show. I can only imagine how it is in the swing of the whale season. Food: Nalu's South Shore Grill had the best island pancakes, and my hubs raved about their fried mahi fish and chips (the chips were tempura green beans, yum) Three's Bar & Grill had the best Happy Hour, top-shelf Mai Tais for $9 and an extensive HH food selection. Ask for Paul's section or sit at the bar with Chris...yes we went twice! FYI, there is a Maui HH app you can download and search by city! Ululani's Shave Ice-get the Roselani's ice cream in the middle and the milk topper, you won't regret it! South Shore Tiki Lounge is in the perfect spot, right next to Kihei food truck's (must get the chicken katsu curry at Happy Belly) and shopping at Kihei Kalama Village. My tip, sit in Janey's section & have a few HH drinks and listen to live music here! Great way to unwind after a day of water activities. Kahale's Bar- I love a dive bar and Kahale's fit the bill! Local live music by Kenny K. Roberts and bartenders Dylan, Jeff, and "Stiffy" were an entertaining cast of characters! This condo is also really close to a Foodland (a Maui supermarket institution that is not to be missed!) The salt & vinegar chicken wings are to die for, and they have a fantastic deli, lots of great poke & local treats. Finally, we cannot recommend more, the talented artist Kiko Yamada, Ninjasketch! I had been following her for over a year, we had our honeymoon caricature done at Kalama Village. It was such a pleasure to meet her and hear her story. I love our artwork To Brete and his family, Mahalo for opening your lovely home for others to enjoy. Maui at Christmas time will always have a special place in our heart, and you were part of that magic! And for my fellow travelers, and Airbnb'ers, don't hesitate to book this condo, you won't regret it.

And did I mention, the great breakfast food and other snacks in the provided basket as well as fresh fruit, cereal, milk and other items inside the refrigerator and freezer? Definitely saved me time and money from having to drive to the nearest bakery or market! Yes, this is a real Bed & Breakfast and definitely worth every dollar! There are three other suites available for booking and there is usually no minimum stay required except during certain times of the year like the holiday season or special local events, for instance. Also, guests are offered a 10% discount if they pay in check/cash versus charging to their credit/debit card, and I opted to provide Eva with the check. You will also find two common areas, and one of them is right outside the Papaya Room on the ground level where there are other tables, chairs, and a BBQ. The other common area is upstairs on the lanai, where there are more tables and chairs, and ultimately a lovely view of Kihei and the West Maui Mountains!
