Great helpful friendly staff, lovely grounds, incredible views, choose the exact unit you want to rent, family friendly yet quiet enough for seniors/couples. Best part is being able to walk out back to everything - restaurants, grocery store, shops, liquor store, etc. HPH is a gem.

My son and I were still in the pool on July 6th or 7th at ~8:20pm. I wasn't paying attention to the time. We were on vacation having a good time. Well I later realized the pool closes at 8pm and I genuinely hadn't noticed the posted sign. An employee (an elderly haole man) came outside and yelled "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" to which I immediately replied, "OK I'm sorry sir, we are getting out, my apologies I wasn't aware of the time" and we IMMEDIATELY started leaving the pool. Despite that, he continued yelling "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" I am not kidding he yelled at the top of his lungs at least 5x more times. To the point that I responded that we were already getting out and had apologized, and that repeating it was unnecessary. His response was, "Well, you guys don't know how to read the sign, so you clearly need to be told several times." Wow. I completely understand the pool has posted hours and have no issue being asked to leave once I realized it was closed. That part was my mistake. What was disappointing was the way my 11 year old son and I were treated after we immediately complied. There was no reason to repeatedly yell at us or make disrespectful comments. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, even when they've made an honest mistake. I hope management addresses how guests are spoken to, because this interaction left a very negative impression. As a suggestion, it might help to automatically turn the pool lights off (if this happened we would have left immediately) and/or disable the gate keypad when the pool closes. We honestly didn't realize the posted hours and those changes would make it much more obvious that the pool was closed while also preventing situations like this. Because of this my family and I will never stay here again. There are plenty of other options just as good or better on Maui. TLDR: The pool closes at 8pm! If in the pool after be prepared to get yelled at by the staff repeatedly with disrespectful comments made to you and your children.

The beach in their backyard is the best beach IMO. The sand is perfect for there is no rocks or shells. The beach is nice and clean as well. I enjoyed that the shoppes were right across the villa for it made it easy to grab something to eat such as Longhis or Ruth Chris steak House. The shoppes also had a market with lots of food/drinks and items ranging from clothes to memorabilia. In addition, there are high end stores such as Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Gucci and more. The shoppes is a two story mall and it was very nice. The penthouse I stayed had 3 rooms and a huge kitchen and living area with a 1900-2000s game console. It came with plates, utensils and everything you need in a kitchen and in addition, it has a washer and dryer. The service there is excellent and quick. I liked how you get your own private parking spot as well. I recommend this place to everyone if you are staying in Maui.

I almost don't want to brag on this wonderful property Maui Kamaole unit G110 & keep it my little…read moresecret! From the very first inquiry our host Brete has been wonderful. This was our first trip to Maui, and honeymoon, and I had SO many questions. Brete was patient and such a great resource. You can really feel the aloha and pride they have for Maui. Not only was he helpful in our Airbnb chats, but he had one of the most thorough guidebooks at the condo. And a lovely touch, we had a handwritten welcome note and a few Maui treats to start our stay! Now on to the condo, G110 in the Ginger cluster (so cute) this is such a beautifully appointed home with the most wonderful patio (lanai) view! I am not a morning person, but I was up by 6:30 with my coffee on the lanai enjoying the sounds of the island waking up. The patio alone is reason to book this condo! All sorts of birds and of course, the famous Maui chickens, walk the lawn. One morning I saw a cute little mongoose of some sort! That was definitely not on my bingo card, but a magical moment. Also, the property is immaculate in its care...beautiful landscaping and I loved the Christmas decor. We had our own parking spot super close to the unit too. There is something so special about traveling to an island during Christmas time...we ended each night cuddled on the comfy couch watching holiday shows. Speaking of comfy, even though I don't prefer a soft bed, I slept like a baby in the master bedroom. I really appreciated having 2 bathrooms, to get ready faster for our adventures! There's even a 2nd lanai right off the bedroom, beautiful light in the mornings. Brete is thoughtful to offer beach chairs and fun equipment for the beach, saving us more money for Mai Tais! I love to cook at home, but I took the honeymoon off...I did look into the kitchen, and not only do they have a lovely new stove, but they also had everything you could possibly need if you wanted to whip up meals. We only used the stove to reheat leftover kalua pork & pineapple pizza from South Shore Tiki Lounge. Please don't judge, it's fantastic with jalapenos! We ADORED our stay in Kihei, it's such a great middle point between Lahaina and Wailea. So many wonderful beaches close by, Kamaole 1, 2, and 3, as well as Keawakapu. Parking was a breeze at all of these beaches and if you love snorkeling, you must add Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve to your list, 25 minutes south! My list of faves from our time in Kihei: Water: We rented paddle boards from Aunty Snorkel, great service and integrity. Ask for Mark or Jake! They checked conditions before completing our transaction, there's no refunds for weather or wind conditions. Ultimate Whale Watch & Snorkel-the highlight of our trip, based in Lahaina. Try and reserve a tour with Captain Jill and Casey. I am an avid snorkeler and have been on countless excursions. These two ladies were so knowledgeable, and you could feel their "malama kai" care for the ocean. Two snorkel stops & we were fortunate to see whales, even though it was super early in the season November 28th!!! Breaching, blow spouts and three whale tails, great show. I can only imagine how it is in the swing of the whale season. Food: Nalu's South Shore Grill had the best island pancakes, and my hubs raved about their fried mahi fish and chips (the chips were tempura green beans, yum) Three's Bar & Grill had the best Happy Hour, top-shelf Mai Tais for $9 and an extensive HH food selection. Ask for Paul's section or sit at the bar with Chris...yes we went twice! FYI, there is a Maui HH app you can download and search by city! Ululani's Shave Ice-get the Roselani's ice cream in the middle and the milk topper, you won't regret it! South Shore Tiki Lounge is in the perfect spot, right next to Kihei food truck's (must get the chicken katsu curry at Happy Belly) and shopping at Kihei Kalama Village. My tip, sit in Janey's section & have a few HH drinks and listen to live music here! Great way to unwind after a day of water activities. Kahale's Bar- I love a dive bar and Kahale's fit the bill! Local live music by Kenny K. Roberts and bartenders Dylan, Jeff, and "Stiffy" were an entertaining cast of characters! This condo is also really close to a Foodland (a Maui supermarket institution that is not to be missed!) The salt & vinegar chicken wings are to die for, and they have a fantastic deli, lots of great poke & local treats. Finally, we cannot recommend more, the talented artist Kiko Yamada, Ninjasketch! I had been following her for over a year, we had our honeymoon caricature done at Kalama Village. It was such a pleasure to meet her and hear her story. I love our artwork To Brete and his family, Mahalo for opening your lovely home for others to enjoy. Maui at Christmas time will always have a special place in our heart, and you were part of that magic! And for my fellow travelers, and Airbnb'ers, don't hesitate to book this condo, you won't regret it.

This review is for unit K-103 and not G-107 my initial reservation…read more Maui Kamaole grounds are beautiful, well maintained and we always had a great time. Not so much this time. I was met with a parfumy fragrance in unit K-103 from cleaning solutions but the moment I left the unit for the day and turned the AC off I was welcomed back with a mold or mildew smell. Mold/ mildew in the AC most likely. Had more headaches while I was here than an entire year. The toilet bowls in both bathrooms were disgustingly covered with mold/mildew above water line so I had to go and purchase cleaning solution and clean them in order to use them. No toilet bowl cleaner found in the unit. Mattress in the bedroom was set up for tall people . Not easy to get in or out of bed for shorter people, elderly, handicapped, or children. Bedding was stained and 100% cheap polyester, super slippery and uncomfortable. It felt like sleeping between plastic bags and by morning was all off the mattress. All the pillows in the unit were firm/extra firm so not very conducive for a good night rest. Therefore I had to buy a pillow in order to sleep at night. Kitchen backsplash was stained and grimy and black plastic utensils were barely clean. The space between counter and fridge has not seen a broom or vacuum in quite a while. All the baskets were dusty and grimy. The insinkerator did not work. Rusted degraded beach chairs. Keep in mind that it is a ground floor unit so if guests occupy the upstairs unit you can hear every single step, chairs moving, doors being shut, cries in the middle of the night, luggage being dragged up and down the stairs at any hour of the day and night. For being one of the newest building they sure did not consider soundproofing their condos. My initial reservation was unit G-107 in first building on the property steps from the beach with an ocean view, and I thought that what I was getting for the price I paid. This condo had no ocean view just some bushes and all the way in the back of 23 acres property. As far as the management of Rentals Maui Inc. not very accommodating. They messaged me 4 hours prior to checking in about the water leak in the unit G-107 that I reserved, and the only solutions were to refund me the money and find other accommodations or take the unit in the end of the property. Mind you another tropical storm/ hurricane was approaching. Occupancy during my stay was super low, 25%-30% at best. I did not come to Maui so I can find accommodation last moment and this inconvenience was met with indifference, lack of effort, lack of hospitality/ho'okipa, and arrogance.

Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere if you want a good experience, clean house, and a stress free vacation and deposit refund. Owners Eva and Jim are awesome and have operated the bed and breakfast for many years now and it was such a pleasure to meet them during my stay as well as meet their family and super cute energetic smaller terrier dogs. I was in the Papaya Suite and definitely plenty of space, with a separate bedroom, kitchen bathroom, and the living room! And did I mention, the great breakfast food and other snacks in the provided basket as well as fresh fruit, cereal, milk and other items inside the refrigerator and freezer? Definitely saved me time and money from having to drive to the nearest bakery or market! Yes, this is a real Bed & Breakfast and definitely worth every dollar! There are three other suites available for booking and there is usually no minimum stay required except during certain times of the year like the holiday season or special local events, for instance. Also, guests are offered a 10% discount if they pay in check/cash versus charging to their credit/debit card, and I opted to provide Eva with the check. You will also find two common areas, and one of them is right outside the Papaya Room on the ground level where there are other tables, chairs, and a BBQ. The other common area is upstairs on the lanai, where there are more tables and chairs, and ultimately a lovely view of Kihei and the West Maui Mountains! Eva was easily accessible for questions about the island/ local recommendations and was more than accommodating for our breakfast options (fresh local fruit, pastries, coffee, etc.). There was also onsite laundry, swim gear, and sunscreen/mosquito repellent. Whatever Eva was managing with guests, we also observed that Jim kept up with quick repairs/maintenance on the property. My partner's favorite part of this stay was the fruit and their dogs!!! I too loved their fur babies in addition to the view from the second floor deck (phenomenal during sunset). We are truly impressed with the hospitality and welcome that these seasoned hosts provided.
