Went to the renovated theatre for the first time this week with my 2 young sons. The seats were incredibly comfortable... the renovations are wonderful! Also, the staff was very friendly. My 3 year old spilled his candy in the lobby right after we purchased it. Not only did they tell me that I didn't need to worry about clean up that they would take care of it but they replaced his candy free of charge. Overall a very nice experience. We just went to see Wicked-and loved it. The theater reopened this week and the experience was great! The reclining, spacious chairs with individual food trays make this a real treat. We ordered from Lucharitos and brought it in! What a great idea! read more

Only reruns of old classic movies (you can probably watch online) are shown on weekends (Sat & Sun.) Otherwise you can squirt paint onto spinning boards, throw axes or watch live wrestling on given dates. It is now a weird arcade. read more

We were a group of 5 adults patiently waiting for the adult ticket counter man to finish his text. We ALL felt like we were bothering him by being there & buying tickets. Absolutely no verbal exchange at all. He didn't have to say enjoy the movie but he could have indicated what theater we were to go to.Unprofessional & unfriendly. I would NEVER go to this theater again. There were a row of 6 teenagers behind us that ruined the movie for everybody there . Honestly, I figured if I told the guy he could have cared less. Plenty of other theaters around with nicer people . read more

I love the location, easy access. It's not large or fancy but very adequate and clean. Not brand new clean, but kept clean. Staff is courteous. Nice places to eat nearby walking so you can make and afternoon or evening of it. Small town feel. read more

What does my review matter ? Unless you want to drive to Greenport this is the only movie theatre around. The movie rooms are very very small. So small that no one in any seat can ignore the openings and closings of the door to the hall. Last movie I saw I was seated against the wall(seats sell out frequently) so that to leave I had to shimmy past a LONG row of fellow moviegoers. This fact is the only reason I waited furiosly for the first 5 minutes of the bourne identity watching the movie with the house lights ON! Finally a more strategically seated guest went and complained. Funny thing is I will continue to watch movies there until there is a better option close by. read more

I've been here a few times and am always satisfied. Mattituck Cinemas is a nice, small movie theater with all of the bare necessities. There is a well-stocked snack bar and 8 theaters (hence the name.) There are often few people, and I sometimes treat myself to an empty movie theater! read more

I've been going to this theater for 20 years first with my wife and later with our three kids. Early on I remember it being a bit rustic but everything has been renovated over the years. Clean everywhere, new comfortable seats, great surround sound systems, all digital projectors. Really nice. Not only that, the ticket prices are surprisingly low and they don't screw you with the cost of the candy, popcorn, and drinks, either. Nice, friendly people too who have been there as long as we've been going. Sure, it's not a huge multiplex with 3D and IMAX and super luxury chairs and nachos, but this is perfect for out here. Kind of a boutique multiplex in God's country. Perfect for the rainy day out here with or without kids. Highly recommend it! read more

Only north fork theater, small $10.00 cash only, seniors $7.00. Not a multiplex an independent owned. Shows current movies, rooms are small unless a new release "blockbuster"! Popcorn, sodas cheaper than the larger theaters. We need a movie theater in Riverhead that can be between both forks! Still will see a new release here much cheaper than the large ones! read more

I saw a movie here once and right before the end, the projector broke and wasn't showing anything. The patrons in the theater got up and we started walking around. There was no one around. We searched for a long time, the place was a ghost town. I was even able to go into projection booths, maintenance closets, and the back of the snack bar because they didn't lock anything. Finally one lone maintenance guy came to fix the projector. After that though, I didn't care to stick around and left. Never went back again. It's worth the drive to other theaters. In the summer the Greenport theater is much better. read more

I love having a movie theater close to home but Mattituck Cinemas could really use some improvements. The seats in here recline to an uncomfortable position automatically and are uncomfortable at that angle. We went tonight to see Spectre and the heat was blasting. This and the super-reclining seats made for an I enjoyable experience. Otherwise, the tickets and snacks are cheap and we appreciate the variety of films. Those seats, though! I'm hoping someone reads this and considers an upgrade. read more

Such a DIVE but if you know the north fork you know this is the only movie theater besides the one in Greenport which is only open during the summer. My husband and I usually drive about 45 minutes to see a movie in a real movie theater..lol..however sometimes like last week we end up at this theater. Every time I find myself there I'm disappointed and pissed off at myself for going there..its dirty, the seats ( if not broken ) are uncomfortable and the screens are small. None of the adults that work there are friendly or helpful. read more

The assistive hearing devices at this theater are awful - either they dont work at all, or they are muffled. The sound system in the theater itself is also inferior. SO if you have any issues with hearing - go to another theater. read more

decent size theater for a small town . Most of the theaters are big enough especially theater one. I do have to say there are two theaters that are way way to Small's got refunded). Think its 4 and 5 . The rest are great. The popcorn taste good and forestry to see a movie in theaters 1 Thru 3 , and 5 6. the theaters directly on the left as you go in are like sitting in a large room at home. Still very worth going!!!!! It's a small theater and is inexpensive. I wanted to go see a movie on a Saturday with my husband and get dinner before hand. They didn't list the weekend Movie times until Thursday, so we couldn't get a dinner reservation. I can't believe any movie theater would list show times only a day prior. People like to have dinner before and it is impossible to plan an evening if you don't know what time your movie is. read more

My wife and I went to the Mattituck 8 Cinemas last night to see the latest James Bond show. The senior price was only 7 dollars. The movie was being shown in Theater # 7. When we arrived the staff was sweeping the floors and picking up debris from the previous showing.. The Theater was moderately clean and the restrooms very clean and easily accessible. The seats were of the automatic reclining type. At first we found them somewhat awkward but after folding our coats and placing them behind our backs we sat comfortably for the entire show. The next time I might consider bringing a pad/small pillow with us. When the lights were on during the preview and advertising presentation(very loud) a mouse was seen scurrying about picking up morsels of food. I only heard one quick shriek from a lady sitting nearby. Most of the patrons just sat quietly and watched the little critter with amusement. There are plenty of food options in the small shopping plaza, both eat in and take out. read more

Actually I would give it 21/2 stars because it could use some needed updating. Sometimes they get the time wrong (that has happened twice) but all in all, its inexpensive, centrally located on the north fork and it shows current movies. Its a bargain! read more

My family and I drove out today to see Les Miserables and discovered when we got there, NO MATINEE was shown. Mattituck failed to post online that this was the case and the manager replied "BLAME GOOGLE!!" It is not google who is at fault, but the person assigned to post the cancellation online. Growing up east this was my only choice in movie theater enjoyment but I will no longer be bringing my business there!! read more

They don't deserve any stars. Anyone who writes anything good about this theatre must be either family of management or paid off. I never heard of a movie theatre making it hard to go to the movies instead of making it easy--they don't even list movie times for the weekend on Fridays during the day. Several reviewers wrote how this is the only movie theatre on the North Fork running all year, besides Greenport, which is only open during the summer-this is true, so you think customers would be treated better with friendly staff and more up to date information and even some way to speak to someone instead of listening to their archaic, never updated, phone system. I moved out here from the city, and, believe me, people in the city probably don't realize how good they have it. This theatre really should catch up to the 21ST Century--"small town feel"? OH PLEASE!! How about customer disrespect. and facility neglect!!! read more
