After going to many of other drs getting shots and having fluid drained off of my knee it got to the point I could not work, I prayed for god to help lead me to a dr that would help. I searched and looked for one and kept coming back to Dr.barber. I made the appointment and felt at peace even tho I had not seen him yet. When I did meet him I didn't feel like I was just another number. He genuinely cared and he listened. He explained everything gave me options and for long term healing a total knee replacement would be the best. He explained that there were 2 kinds of knees the kind most all drs use or have a ct scan to get measurements and have one made exactly like my own,it is called conformis and with no pressure to choose one or the other, I chose the conformis. Dr. Barber recommended doing therapy prior to surgery. I went to Alabama Orthopedic Clinic one time,Alex the therapist showed me what to do and I chose to do the rest at home. Because of COVID I had to be dropped off at the hospital and go through it alone I was nervous not having my husband with me but confident I was in good hands. I love that before surgery Dr. Barber asked if he could pray with me.
Dr barber is truly a blessing and his staff from the office to the operating room are all so sweet and helpful and available 24/7.
I highly recommend Dr. Mathew Barber
After surgery I used the walker and would walk to the end of the hall around the nurses station to the other end 2 times, The discomfort was nothing like the pain I had prior to surgery. The first week I was off of the walker and using a cane sometimes, mostly when I was outside . Week 3 I was sitting Indian style and squatting. read more
