There are a few spots to park in shade and around back there is plenty of parking also. When you enter you must read the signs to figure out where to go. Then check in on a kiosk. If you ask the people at the desk, they just instruct you to check in on the kiosk into which you are to enter in your insurance and social security number along with scanning your insurance cards and drivers license. On one hand I like that other people aren't handling your information, on the other it's very impersonal and the people at the desk seem like they don't want to be bothered (due to the eye roll) and I should've obviously seen and known that I'm supposed use the kiosk to check in. Then you have to read the signs to determine which side of waiting room to sit on for which ever doctor you are to see. The X-ray tech was very nice, fast and professional. The physical therapy staff are all very sweet and professional. The Doctor was excellent and I am very impressed with the efficiency of the office overall. Highly recommend. read more

If you want quality care stay away from Dr. Volkman and his P.A. Clint. Clint is the most obnoxious, nasty person I have ever meet. He speaks to you like a dog and not just to patients to nurses as well. If Dr. Volkman or whoever is in charge of this P.A. would do just a little investigation and speak to the people he works with they would be shocked if they are telling a patient about how nasty and loud, he is surely they would tell his boss. I made the mistake of letting this Dr. operate on me BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. If you heard my story, you would not be able to sleep at night because it is totally a nightmare. Dr. Volkman just does not seem to care about me as a person. Waiting room time 2 hours after you scheduled appointment 1 to 2 min with Dr Volkman. Just like the Springhill office, this location is super efficient, with the kiosk for checking in and paying your copay. Even with x-ray and the Dr visit, we were in and out in 20 mins, and 10 of that was spent in the room with Dr Handwerger! I would definitely recommend Dr Handwerger, as he's great with kiddos, and his staff is excellent! read more

Always always have to wait at least an hour to see someone. Prices are ridiculous even with any kind of insurance. Was told I could be told my MRI results over the phone because I live out of town but never got called, never had MY calls answered, and then when finally got through I was told they don't do that and I had to come in and spend more money just to get them. Couldn't tell if there was a candle lit, or if the apathy was just that thick. Terrible people skills from everyone. Made us wait until they were closed until we could see someone even with an appointment. read more

Checkin Staff is very friendly, and appear to be knowledgable. Waiting area is large and a little difficult to hear them call your name. The physical therapist are very nice and accommodating to my schedule. With all that being said anytime I have had an appointment for anything other than physical therapy, it takes a very unreasonable amount of time to be seen. Not sure why I make an appointment for 1:30pm and an hour later I'm still in the waiting area, but it seems to be the normal thing here every time I've come. read more

My experience in past has always been great in past.Office staff and physical therapy department are awesome but my recent experience has been poor. Please stay away from Dr.Volkman if you want to get answers and get better. My last visit after having MRI and Epidural for spondylitis was awful he spent 5 minutes with me and never looked at me or touched me. I had my wife with me who is a Double boarded physician and asked her if she gave her patients this kind of care what would happen? She said she don't know as she has never given such poor medical care.Once again he said you got Frozen Shoulder and need physical therapy again??? Working on other opinions my problem still remains.Before surgery will get three or more opinions as I don't take it lightly.Have spent lots of Money with this group I past but no more .Guess they are so big they don't have to care about people anymore. read more

It was all good. I called on a Monday morning to schedule an appointment. The receptionist said she could schedule me for that day at 1:10 to do the paperwork. I went in to the LARGE reception area and asked at the desk what the procedure was. She directed me to a kiosk and told me to register and that I'd need a photo id and insurance card(s). The computer terminal was very easy to use and I had no trouble but there was a staffer in uniform that roamed the area offering help (nice touch). Before I could get the forms filled out (typical health history and meds list stuff) I was called back to a consultation room to see the doctor (Dr Albert Haas). I was in Mobile from out of town and had made arrangements to have my family physician's office fax the results of a recent x-ray and MRI to the Orthopedics Group. But they didn't do it. Dr Haas thought cortisone would fix my problem but wanted to see the test results from Florida. His staff called my primary care doc's office to have them fax the stuff. It took a while but during that time the Orthopedic Group staff kept me informed each step. Eventually, Dr Haas say the test results and explained my situation in great detail. His original assessment was confirmed. I got a shot of cortisone, some theraband to exercise with and a sheet of instructions to follow and directions to call them if I had any issues or questions. Look, I called out of the blue at 9am on a Monday morning. Got and appointment for 1:10 that same day. Saw a really great doc and interacted with very professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Got my treatment and was out of there by 3:00pm. So, here I am, the next day, pain free with full mobility. It doesn't get much better than that. The Orthopedic Group treats a lot of patients but you feel they aren't a "factory". You're treated with a caring kindness that is authentic. Use these folks with confidence. read more

Money hogs. Whenever I go here or to the other location, they always charge me ridiculous copays even for follow-ups. Follow-ups should not have a copay and I have never been charged for follow ups with other doctors. Then the doctors don't know what they're doing and I always leave without getting my injury fixed. My last visit was for a really bad knee and they gave me a list of things wrong with my knee, said it needed surgery, then refused to do the surgery, and the doctor called the radiologist a liar and said in all his years of practice, he has never seen an injury like mine so it doesn't exist. I was shown the MRI and x-rays and the head nurse explained my injury to me and it was a common injury. They told me that I had arthritis in my knee, a meniscus tear, missing cartilage, and damage in there. I was in a lot of pain and it was getting worse to the point I couldn't walk up and down the stairs anymore. They refused to do anything. After wasting almost $200 in copays, I went to a doctor in Birmingham who looked at my knee, went inside to check, and found that I had a tissue that was supposed to go away before I was born, but was still there and was catching between my joints and other areas when I moved. I did not have any of the things the other doctors told me. The Birmingham doctor cleaned the tissue out and now I have been running and doing sports again. Something so simple that these doctors couldn't figure out. I refuse to go to them ever again. read more

Dr Conrad fixed my left shoulder last year from a labrum tear...now it's stronger than my right. Dr Park diagnosed an extremely obscure bone break in my right foot...took six more weeks at UAB full of MRI's, ultrasounds, and X-rays, but he was right. read more
