That is when after much research I choose Chandler Preparatory Academy for my children to attend both middle school and high school. We have been a CPA family for over 4 years. Both children transitioned very well from public school to the Great Hearts culture. It only took about a week for them to get used to the uniforms! I feel that the stricter dress code and restrictions on personal electronics help my children to focus in the classroom and develop better relationships with their teachers and peers. Both children quickly found very positive and encouraging friend groups. We have had no issues with bulling or harassment. Attending CPA through COVID was a godsend as the entire Great Hearts operation was dedicated to getting children safely back into the classroom. Where last year my children were able to attend school in person for 90% of the school year, my neighborhood high school was online for three quarters. I am very satisfied on how CPA mitigated COVID and continues to provide in person education in a post pandemic world. I find the student body to be diverse and vibrant with students from all different backgrounds. There is a high participation of parent involvement. School pride is evident by the cleanliness and orderly nature of the school grounds. Teachers are highly assessable to both students and parents. Each teacher/class offers weekly tutoring hours. Students also have time after lunch to study, attend tutoring, or get some fresh air on the field. There is a robust mentoring program for new students as well as student lead tutoring programs for math and science above what the teachers offer. My children have very different learning styles where school comes easy for one while the other struggles. Through the CPA ESS program, my youngest gets additional support that helps her be successful with the more rigorous curriculum. I do feel that she would have "gotten lost in the shuffle" at Kyrene Middle School but at CPA she gets the support and encouragement she needs to make learning a positive experience. This school focuses on a classical liberal arts curriculum that not only cultivates the hearts and minds of students in the pursuit of Truth, Beauty and Goodness, but also graduates student leaders that are prepared for success at the college level. The school produces a very well rounded student and encourages, through CPA programs, to participate in athletics, music, art, mentorship, and community service. The Great Hearts school system offers transparency on their budgets, fundraising, and operations, which goes to show that the school motto of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness starts at the very top of the organization. I got threatened to be killed by another student and the assistant headmaster said "that's just how he is". There also aren't any additional options for what you want to explore such as agriculture, mining, engineering, medicine, and other things that are beneficial for going to college. There is no helpful support if you are struggling, and the administration did nothing but harm and ignore the students and push their ideology upon them. There are some incredible teachers still there. Mr. and Mrs. Myers, Ms. Dupee, Dr. Carpenter, Mr. Allen, Mrs. Amorose. But a lot of the best teachers have left the school. It's not worth sending your children here. They don't gain an education that truly prepares them for college and it is not worth your child's mental health and safety to send them here. CPA is not a good school in the long run, even if their test scores are good.

My eldest son attended this program at this facility between the ages of 10 and 15 years -Four times per week with no other math training during this time. He entered college at age 15 in Math150 college algebra. At age 18, he is now done with all of his mathematics required for his bio chemical engineering degree. It's not about repetitive memorization. It's not about lectures. It's about a system of mathematics and a system of learning. It's about kind and positive people trying to lift other people. If you can afford this program your child will be very benefited from it throughout his or her entire life.

I was honestly afraid for his and my safety at times due to his outbursts. He often acted like an animal whenever we went somewhere new or had people over to the house. Screaming, jumping on people and off of high things, running around like a mad man. No matter what I said it seemed like he just literally could not hear me and I was at my wits end. When we got him evaluated it turns out his brain was operating at a 3 year old level when he was actually 6. No wonder he felt so out of control. We decided to sign him up for the works! The center always warned us what to expect from his behavior along the journey and they were always so accurate! It was really hard for the first couple of months but it was undeniable they knew what they were talking about and we knew we needed to trust the process. He finished his program a few months ago and has had time for everything he learned to solidify in his brain. He now operates at his age level or above and it shows! Today a girl was making fun of him and it would have made him go absolutely ballistic a few months ago. Instead he handled it like an absolute champ! Better than some adults. Last night he came up with his own idea and included his siblings to give the adults back massages. I'm so happy to have my sweet, sensitive, caring son back. I was hopeful--but I didn't expect to see this kind of growth. When my son started, he was functioning closer to a 4-year-old level, and now he's meeting expectations for his actual age of 7. That alone speaks volumes. He's more affectionate, more aware of his feelings, and better able to work through them. One of the biggest changes has been how he handles being told "no," bad news, and changes. Before, those moments were very hard for him. Now he's able to pause, regulate, and respond so much better. That has made a huge difference in our everyday life. While in the program, I made the decision to homeschool him so he could fully focus on his development. As of April 1st, he transitioned back into school, and that was a huge moment for us. He was excited to be back with his friends, and now he's able to handle other kids better, even in situations where things feel overwhelming or too noisy. He's also communicating better with his teacher, which is something we struggled with before. Another thing that stood out to me--his pediatrician has always emphasized the importance of nutrition for brain development. This was the first time I was able to see that come together in a structured, real-life way. He has not been formally diagnosed, and we intentionally started with nutrition and lifestyle changes first, which this program helped bring to life. Jacqueline, the director, is amazing. She's supportive, knowledgeable, and gives feedback that actually fits my household and real-life routines, not just generic advice. Ashtyn at the front desk is also wonderful--very personable and great with all the kids. Shout out to the coaches as well--they are patient, engaging, and truly invested in the kids' progress. The whole environment feels welcoming. I'll be honest--the investment can feel high, but seeing the growth in my child, it has been worth it for our family. They also offer different programs, payment plans, and options through the state if your child qualifies. As a Black parent, I also want to say this--getting help for your child should not feel taboo. I'm so glad I moved forward anyway. The growth I've seen in my son has truly surprised me in the best way. It truly feels like a community and a family, not just a school. This is the first year the school has combined two locations into one, so of course there are going to be things they are learning and working through along the way. I would encourage anyone considering the school not to believe everything you may read or hear without experiencing it for yourself. Like any new transition, there are growing pains, but what stands out to me is that the staff genuinely listens, works hard to improve, and never fails to show up for the students and families. The front office and principal have been incredibly supportive and have always made me feel like my children matter. I feel comfortable knowing that my children are in great hands, and that they are surrounded by people who truly care about their education, their well-being, and their future. I would absolutely recommend this school to other families. Now my youngest, almost 4, has loved it too. I love that he skips in when I drop him off and is beaming and happy when I pick him up. This is TRUE Montessori, and it has been so wonderful to watch all 3 of my kids blossom and become more of themselves in the Montessori method-- confident, self assured and capable. I'll be so sad the end of next year when I won't have any more kiddos to come here! Check out this school!
