We just had Master Tree Care out. We've used them about five times over the past 10 years and they do an awesome job every time. We had a lot of undergrowth dead and dying trees that we left to them to decide what to take and what to leave and we're exceptionally pleased with their decisions. I can't recommend them highly enough and I think it was money well spent! read more

They were at our house a couple of weeks ago, and my wife and I can't stop talking about how good they were. They did everything they said they would at the price they quoted us. Their supervisor was really efficient and caring. We feel like we got lucky finding them. Will definetly use them again read more

Great customer service great price effective and they know what they're doing to make your trees last and look beautiful. They do remove trees, but I preferred to keep mine and I've been using them for over 20 years and they do a fantastic job. read more

My first Yelp review. You can get skills and good work, but "care" or "pride in their work" is that special something that gives this homeowner trust and confidence that my property is respected, it's genuine. William did the actual climbing and trimming made every effort to get my Queen palms clean of pods and remove palms. I witnessed that on his mini breathers that he stepped back on the ground to assess his work, then proceeded to make them right on the climb. I'm a grandmother, a Nana ,and I would be more than proud that my grandson was not only skilled, but caring. The guys were all well mannered, respectful and left my yard clean of debris. thanks Master Tree! read more

Master Tree Care - Cat stuck in tree - Tree Services Near Me - West Sacramento, California

Hmm...as I stared up at my 14 year old gnarly wild child capital pear tree that has never been professional trimmed...I said to myself..."I gotta get this runaway tree professionally trimmed". I confess, I am no arborist and I have taken it upon myself to trim it up in the past. But my beloved tree needed some professional TLC. So I get to Yelping to find tree trimmers. I called and scheduled estimates with 4 companies. Ken, arborist and owner of Master Tree Care, showed up on time. He was knowledgable and provided a detailed itemized estimate sheet for my Capital Pear, 2 other trees, and 1 stump grinding. He was not the cheapest priced estimate. Master Tree won the bid by being on time, providing a detailed itemized estimate, being knowledgeable, easy to talk with, and having competitive pricing. The team that came out was awesome. They came on time and were engaging and hard working. They took care to move things and clean up. They even asked for our feedback. But we were told by Ken that the stump grinder was coming later in the afternoon. No one came though. So I called first thing the next morning. The receptionist said she would talk to the crew. I got no return call or text. So when I got home after work, I walked on over to the stump with baited breath. Sigh of relief... it was grounded. And the area was cleaned up. Nice! read more

This is the second job I hired Master Tree Care for. They took care of a 40' tall pine tree that went down 1 month after we bought our house. We just hired them again to trim a very large (maybe 60' +) Heritage Oak that was hanging over our house. They were professional, worked quickly and safely and cleaned up well afterward. They even applied for the permit for us and worked with our neighbor (who is the actual owner of the tree), allowing us to split the bill. I will definitely be hiring them again in the future to take care of a couple aggressive palm trees in the back yard! Thanks for the great work guys! read more

Master Tree Care - Freshly trimmed giant Oak tree. Will sleep better knowing the branches aren't so heavy and unstable anymore! - Tree Services Near Me - West Sacramento, California

We have a very large Camphor tree in our back yard that need a much deserved trim because some of the larger limbs were over our home, lots of dead wood removed and shorter long heavy limbs removed through the crown limbs. Big and very dangerous job! From the telephone greeting, Rhonda, to the estimate/owner John, and the very skilled working staff everything ran smoothly and safety with this company. Anything that dropped in our neighbor's yard was quickly cleaned up and our yard as well. They also trimmed 3 other trees as well. Very satisfied with their knowledge, safety, skill from beginning to end. Thank you so much and so grateful for everything! Great company!! read more

I have used Master Tree Care for almost 20 years to care for the trees around my home. They are the best: reasonable rates, quick response, really knowledgable about the trees and best practices for long-term tree health, not just in it for a quick cosmetic fix. And it feels really good to work with a family-owned local business. I recommend them to all my friends. read more

By the best people to do the job take care of your problem trees and make your others look good and healthy as possible.

The city hired this company to come through and trim all the over hang trees over the roadway on my street. Very professional crew and got the job done quite quickly and left the tree looking beautiful. Very polite and respectful crew. Rudy had great leadership skills and managed the project amazingly. I too have a leadership role in my job and I like to recognize those that demonstrate what leadership is all about. The driver for the team David, took great sense of pride in safety. Ensuring that their ground man Drake was safe at all times during the clipping and clean up process to clearing a jam in the chipper. Great workmanship from all three guys getting the job done in a safe and timely manner. Great job to this team. Highly recommend this company to anyone that needs assistance with tree care needs. read more

Master Tree Care puts out great looking trees, because of the high standards John Spurgin grooms us to trim to. Hes got well over 55 yrs in this industry and sets the bar when it comes to trees as far as im concerned. Thanks for the education Boss read more

We'e used them before, and we'll use them again and again and again! Hubby called and talked with John, who set up our appointment for today. Mike, Dan, and James were uber nice...I give them kudos for being outside today to trim our plum and pea pear trees, because it was like COLD today! I felt bad for them, but they seemed okay with it. Needless to say, our trees look MUCH better than they did before. And, those guys cleaned up great and hardly left any impression that they'd been there at all; meaning, no mess and no broken stuff. Like I said, we've used them before and we'll use them every year we're still in this house to keep those big ol' trees tamed! read more

I had two obnoxious Crepe Myrtles on my small enclosed condo patio. I found these guys on "Next Door" I called, next thing I know, 15 minutes later John was here looking at my trees and writing out an estimate. I was pleased with his expertise and said he was hired. A little over an hour later I had three guys on my patio with chainsaws, ladders, and safety gear, the grinder on the street. They had the two trees down in about an hour, they cleaned up the patio and when I was gone on errands they came back and took out the stumps and an old stump. These guys are amazing and I am over the moon happy. I used the West Sacramento location. Don't let anyone else touch your trees. read more

We had 2 projects in December with Master Tree Care to remove an overgrown Redwood Tree in 1 location and 3 Pine Trees in another. This will be a total of 3 projects the Temple has done with Master Tree Care thru the years. Ken, the Arborist, is always a delight to work with - knowledgeable, honest and fair pricing. The crew always come on time, never miss a days work, hardworking and works as a team - very Positive Energy all around. Highly recommended to deliver quality work AAA+++. We have used Master Tree care at least 2 times over the past few years to trim the ivy growing on our house. They have always been excellent until this latest visit. One of the workers cut through our internet line within minutes of arrival. When I showed it to him he said he thought it was a porch light, or something like that. Luckily, ATT arrived within an hour to repair. But that isn't the biggest issue. There are big chunks of vines and leaves coming off the top of the house in 3 areas. And, the cleanup on the ground was not good at all. I was so disappointed. My family and friends have encouraged me to write this review. We will never call them again. read more

I have used Master Tree Care for over a dozen years now and they are the only tree company in the Sacramento area that I have used. They have always been very professional, work quality has been consistently good and I believe the prices are competitive with other companies in the area. I recently had some extensive pruning done on a twenty year old Chinese Elm tree. They were very responsive to my request for an estimate provided by Ken. The work was scheduled for the week following the estimate. The crew showed up early and spent most of the day on the job. They did a great job, did exactly what I need done and the yard was cleaned up after they were finished. Would highly recommend Master Tree Care. read more

This review is for the free mulch, for all you fellow gardeners out there! I've gotten free mulch before from Bud's. But this year, after being on the wait list since MARCH - that's 6 months, 3 calls, and still no mulch- I called Master Tree Care and within 48 hours I had a full truckload of free mulch delivered to the desired part of my driveway. They were responsive and communicative. Great service! read more

I had Master Tree Care remove a tree from my backyard and also trim the trees around my yard. They are competitively priced and did just what they said they would do. The workers showed up on time and were very polite and friendly. There were no hidden fees and my backyard was left in good shape when they were done. The place has been in business for 46 years and I can see why. I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

I had been putting off the trimming of my 50 year old fig tree for 10 years .Called Master Care and that day had John out to give me an estimate. Not scary at all and was even in my poor gal's budget. Two young nice men came out and worked hard for several hours(even in the rain). The tree looks beautiful ,all the trimmings removed and the surrounding yard cleaned. They are coming back to remove a stump. I will absolutely use them again! read more

I was one of very many homes that had trees fall during the blustery winter storms in January. One of my trees fell over into the neighbors yard, so I knew that I had to find someone to remove it. Since Master Tree Care was local, I called them first. Ken came out and assessed the damage and said they would return in about 3-4 weeks, since they were extremely busy. The day they came out I was not there, but Rudy was very apologetic that no one called me. I was just happy to finally be getting my trees cut and yardwork done! Let me tell you...Rudy did an awesome job! There was another worker with him, but I only saw Rudy doing the actual cutting. The other guy must've helped clean up because my yard was very clean of tree and shrub scraps! Then I noticed after Rudy cut down my rose bushes, there was a small tree growing right in the middle of one of them. So Ken said they'd come back and take care of it, and one day someone showed up and cut that little sucker right out and took all the little leaves with it! Lol. I will definitely consider hiring them in the future! read more

Quick response to my phone call about our shaggy palm tree needing a trim, and a very reasonable bid. The crew was here on time, got right to work and cleaned up after themselves. I wouldn't say it was cosmetically the best job, but definitely worth the price. (BTW, palm trees are a pain!). What really pushed these guys over the top for me: Along with the bid, Mr. Spurgin - an arborist - left lists of recommended trees and trees to avoid, as well as a bid for other problems he spotted among my other trees. Also, they offered a first time discount OR a donation to the Sacramento Childrens' Home. For me, that adds up to a 5 star company. read more

The company trimmed the trees in our yard and did a great job, thoroughly cleaning up all the trimmings. The neighbor next door complained about trimmings falling in her yard, but it was unavoidable and they cleaned up after. She wrote a harsh review that was not justified. This was the first time we have used them and I would recommend them to others. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. They started off great, nice guys, I met with Ken prior to the job start and told him I wanted as much off my roof and my property as possible. He initially declined my request saying the tree was protected and needed a permit just for small branch pruning. Later we found out no such permit was required and it's actually not a protected species of oak, so they would come out the next week. Day one they worked hard all day, left a mess but were coming back the next day. Climb team walked off the job on day 2 apparently because of a disagreement with the owner on the size of the branches they were cutting off. The cleanup crew that came in the afternoon said they would bring back another climb team the next day to complete the job. Mind you, no one offered the information of what happened, I only found out because I went to chat with the guys, give them some snacks, and see how it was going. They then cleaned up and left without a word. No one showed up the next day. I spoke with Rhonda that morning who said she would talk to John and get back to me. She didn't call back. So I called again the next morning and no one answered so I left a message to call back. At 3pm still no call back so I called again and someone else answered. He was incredibly rude and said John said no more would be cut off the tree because that was all he was comfortable with. I asked why he wasn't comfortable taking more (particularly the part over my roof that I wanted cut!) and the gentleman (I use the term loosely) got belligerent and said that was what he said and I don't know why and you're asking all these questions, he just said he's not comfortable, and I can hire someone else to cut more off, but they were done. I said but then why did the guys say the climb team walked off the job and another team would come finish the job? AND HE HUNG UP ON ME! They completely took advantage of my elderly neighbor who was paying for the job because the tree was on her property but mostly overgrowing on mine. She asked me to call them for her because she also wanted more cut higher up. They told her they didn't feel safe cutting the higher sections of the tree...well if this company can't handle large trees they should have said that at the get go--the tree certainly didn't grow in the few days since Ken looked at it! I had another bid from a different arborist who was more than willing to cut it all back from my roof for the safety of my house and property but my neighbor wanted to use Master because they could come sooner (same price on the bids). You can see the funky looking tree they created the pic! The two "ears" are the specific sections I wanted cut back. Worst customer service, do not complete the job, don't take responsibility for their employees, and won't even answer your simple questions. Unbelievable. DO NOT HIRE!!!! I'll stick with my arborist and have him finish the job if these guys haven't harmed the tree so much nothing more can be done. read more

I had Master Tree Care scheduled to come out a few weeks ago and top and trim my Italian cypresses. I normally use another company but Master came in at a lower price on this part of a three part job so I gave them a try. Oh, I was also offered a 10% cash discount and a 5% "Pretty Girl Discount". They were scheduled to show up between 8 and 8:30 and I stayed home from work to wait for them. No go, no show. At 9 I called the office and was told that they had me as the first of three jobs on the schedule, but the (very nice office folks, to their credit) could not reach the owner or the workers to find out what was going on. At 10, I called again and there was still no luck in reaching them and they hadn't shown up. At 11, I gave up and went to work. The folks at the office were still unsuccessful in reaching anyone by phone to see what was going on. I wasn't super happy about this. They asked if I wanted to reschedule as I, um, had to go to WORK. Always wanting to give folks second chances, I said that I would consider doing so after the owner called me and we chatted. They assured me that he would. Nothing. Called back the next day and left another message. Radio silence. Tried one more time on the third day. Well, that was dumb, lol. Nothing. Keep in mind that I was nothing but polite and I know that $hit happens. Office folks were super sweet and tried to be helpful but, otherwise, my experience with these folks was miserable. read more

What a FIND!!! We had this crazy tree, with some kind of fungus/pest, and the last company we had out didnt' even know what kind of tree it was! John showed up, knew the tree, knew the pest, knew how to fix it, and gave us a multiple options as to how to proceed. He was like a tree encyclopedia! Within days we had John, Jr. and Brian at our house, slicing and dicing this pest invested tree away, and then a few days later, grinding the stump and planting the new tree of our choice! They were so efficient, if we hadn't seen them there, we would have assumed our tree just magically disappeared in the night. Nice men, nice work, nice to have a Arborist we can count on!!! read more

Update: I spoke to owner, Ken, by phone. He was apologetic and offered me a small discount for the lack of complete clean-up, damage to bushes, dislodging of lawn border, and generally not leaving my property as they found it. It has been a couple weeks since master tree care trimmed our Chinese elm, and I feel I need to write this review still. They arrived early, the arborist John, was great as were all the employees I dealt with. The tree is a bit naked but looks nice. So why two stars? After they left, our yard and ally were a mess. I spent a couple hours raking and picking up large chunks left behind. The ally had several medium sized branches and many leaves and smaller branches left behind on top of a pile of cigarette butts. I have a two year old... And she found a cigarette butt in our yard!!! As well as several wet marks on the side of our garage where it appears they urinated... It was gross enough the man smoked in my yard but to have them leave a mess behind, pitiful. read more

I have used Master Tree Care over the years and am very happy not only with their work, but with their clean up, and prices. Their workers are professional and abide by all of the codes and guidelines, and have always been polite and respectful. Every couple of years I hire this company to trim along the property line because my neighbors' trees are grossly overgrown and hang over the fence, shedding leaves galore onto the roof of my small shed and into my fountain, and property. It's never-ending clean up for me. Today I had Master Tree Care come out to trim along the property line, but my neighbor objected, accusing their workers of things that were simply not the case. The workers clearly used hand saws to trim along the property line and to remove dead branches. (The clean cuts on the branches are visible.) Ladders were used at all times with an occassional foot on the fence when needed for safety. This all falls within good neighbor fence guidelines. All in all, this company did an excellent job, and I will hire them again. After the work was completed (It took less than an hour), I had a knock from a wildlife ranger who was there because the neighbor called to complain. The ranger looked at the work and concluded that no violations (in terms of bird nests, etc. ) occured, and that the trimming of trees along the property line was done by the book. He apologized for the inconvenience and left. Again, I will use this company in the future. I highly recommend them! read more
