Brought my corvette in to get the pilot bearing replaced. They were very expensive. I figured alright spend the money get the job done correct. Well that was a mistake. 7 months later the pilot bearing exploded. They tried to blame it on "Chinese parts". They did warranty the work but it didn't matter the damage was done and my vette was essentially garbage at this point. They struggled to get my car back to me and unfortunately now I have a half fixed corvette. Won't make that mistake again. If you have a corvette. Don't take it to these guys.

Metro Transmission

I was travelling to Vancouver on a work trip when my car broke down an hour north of my destination…read moreand had to be towed to where I was staying in Vancouver. It was impossible for me to deal with during working hours that week, and another expensive tow was out of the question, especially since I didn't yet know what the problem was. Metro Transmission came recommended to me by TrueTech Automotive, after I had described the breakdown and the symptoms. Dayton and the team were truly a godsend. I half-jokingly asked if they made house-calls since my car was undriveable, and Dayton took my request seriously. They squeezed me into their busy schedule, and Dayton sent a tech out to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, he assessed that the transmission needed to be replaced, which would have cost about as much as the car was worth. I ended up selling the car for a disappointing amount, but I am still grateful I was able to sell it at all--and quickly since I was out of my home town! If it wasn't for Dayton and his technichians' above-and-beyond help, flexibility, and forthrightness, this could have been a much more expensive, stressful, and lengthy situation. Years ago I worked in a Cajun restaurant, where there was a concept called "Lagniappe" hospitality, meaning "a little something extra." Dayton and his team embodied "Lagniappe" with unexpected generosity and genuine care in their service. Dayton and team: Thank you so very much for making a stressful situation less stressful. You are appreciated!

(My car was not acting up at the time.) In addition, the price was much better than what I thought it would be and what Google suggested it would be. I referred a good friend of mine to them, and after determining that it was not her transmission, they offered to take her car to the mechanic that she chose. They did not charge her, and it saved me gas money since I didn't have to give her a ride back and forth from home to Metro Transmission and then to the new mechanic. I wish more businesses had the customer service, skill, and integrity that Metro Transmission has!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Go here if you have a potential expensive transmission problem! These people…read moresaved me $3,000! Everyone was so nice and helpful, thank you guys!!! Backstory: Boyfriend tried to show me how to change my oil on a Ford Explorer, and accidentally emptied some transmission fluid. He realized it immediately so I did not drive it and had it towed to a local car repair shop. I pulled in and he showed me my transmission fluid and told me my transmission was failing in 1st and 2nd gear and it would be $3,000 to replace it. Told me that he didn't think it would drive home. I didn't have the money immediately (SO glad I didn't), so I paid to have the transmission refilled and went home to panic. Made an appt with Bradshaw's in Portland, whom flipped and ran all diagnostics on the transmission and couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission and said it was running great for how high of mileage it is.

It's taken me two years to decide if I should write this review. I researched transmission shops…read morelong and hard before I went to Bradshaw's, based strictly on the great reviews (and yes, they ARE very nice people). My 2002 Pontiac Trans Am had been over revving, but losing power, as it downshifted to climb hills. A couple thousand dollars later, with multiple sensors replaced, Bradshaw's deemed it repaired. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned exactly the same way on my return home. When I took it back they decided it was the transmission (which we had always thought it would be). $2500+ later, the transmission was rebuilt. On the trip home, more codes came on. More sensors were replaced. In total I spent around $5000.00, ending up with a 24 month/25k mile warranty. Last week, exactly two months after the warranty expired, but with only 6401 miles on the new tranny, it began over revving on hills again, with the same loss of power. This time I took it to a local shop. They discovered in one hour of shop time that the speed sensor was not plugged in all the way, which tricked the transmission into shifting or not shifting. My bill: $86.00 (incl tax). Bottom line: It really makes me wonder now if I needed the transmission to be rebuilt. Or anything else done, for that matter.

Their mechanic said it would cost almost $9000 to repair because the transfer case and transmission needed to be replaced. Then they offered me A LOT of trade-in value for it. That seemed fishy so I didn't trust them after the offer and decided to get a second opinion on the repairs. I am glad I did! As I said, I'm not a mechanic in any way so Mike helped me and explained that the pickup did need a new transfer case, but that the transmission looked good. He saved me over $6000 from what I would have paid to the dealer. I guess now I know who the true expert is and where I'm always taking my pickup for services now. Thanks Mike!

Never go here. I was quoted a price of $1700 to replace a bad transmission in my old Mazda 323…read more After dropping my car off and putting $1000 down on the repair in advance they removed my old transmission and then informed me that it was going to cost $4000 and I needed to give them an additional $1000 for them to order a new transmission for the vehicle. I paid a total of $500 plus registration for this car and it wasn't worth $1000 in running condition. I decided not to go forward with the repair. The suddenly nasty woman running the place refused to refund any of the money I had put down, threatened me about removing the car from her property within 72 hours or else I would face charges for something vaguely legal sounding and tried to tell me she was doing me a favor returning this vehicle to me with the old transmission in a box in the back of the car. I wish I had the time and the money to take her to court at the time. I was polite, professional and kindly throughout our entire interaction and ended up getting ripped off for $1000, had to arrange a tow for a nonoperational vehicle and got to listen to a ration of crap from an incredibly nasty wretch of a manager for my trouble. This was several years ago and I am still furious with AAMCO over this incident. Other people I have talked to have been ripped off with bait and switch incidents similar to mine and had experienced similar attitude from employees once you stop handling your credit card over without questions. I will NEVER go to AAMCO for anything and if anyone needs ammo for a lawsuit I'd be happy to testify about my experience and I can provide invoices that back up my story. AAMCO is terrible. Take your money elsewhere.
