The communication was excellent, even on a holiday weekend I got called back within an hour of reaching out with questions, which I certainly did not expect! They arrived promptly for appointments and were thoughtful about avoiding tracking dirt into our home. They worked with us to customize their work to our coastal climate and were very transparent about exactly what materials they would be using (all top of the line, industral-grade!). I have pets and toddlers and they took my concerns about chemical disinfects seriously and offered several options to make sure I was comfortable with what was used in our home. They really seem to take pride in their work and enjoyed sharing before and after pictures to demonstrate all the improvements they made to our crawl space. I could not be happier with my choice to hire them, and plan to work with them again when I'm ready to replace my attic insulation.

I would also like to add that it was A very hot day yet, they took their time and did not try to rush or take any short cuts. They sealed off everything in the work area and did a very thorough clean up after the work was done. When Elmer came out, he took about 30 minutes to walk through the house and gave us a completely different--and much more reassuring--assessment. He identified entry points where rodents were getting into the crawl space, explained that the air ducts did not need to be replaced, and instead recommended insulating the rafters, reinsulating the attic floor, and cleaning and reinsulating the crawl space. He also suggested installing an attic fan to improve air circulation. Throughout the visit, he was straightforward, knowledgeable, and very approachable. We decided to move forward with the attic fan. Umar updated the contract promptly and even came out personally to help program the fan and connect it to my phone. There has been this persistent smell of rodent urine in one of our closets for literally decades, no matter what we have done. Not any more! I could not recommend Rywen Insulation more highly for rodent control work. We've had rodent control people here before, but never at the level that Rywen takes things to. They put in place genuine long-term preventative measures to keep rats and mice out, not just patching holes. And that has made all the difference. No more smell in our under-the-stairs closet! And, I'm not sure if it is always a part of their service, but they offered us a one-year warranty. Rats and mice did return --- probably due to a contractor leaving our crawlspace door open overnight with the lights on, several times (oops). But Rywen took care of the problem immediately, no questions asked and no additional money requested, for the entire year of the warranty. They aren't cheap. But they are soooo worth it.

Don't even remember how I found Paul Edwards...the BIG IRISH BOSS; I am not only happy I did, but…read moretotally blessed as well. In 1999 I purchased a 5 unit apartment building with full amenities (carport, laundry room, lockers, covered garages)...built in 1979. In 2014 moved back to prepare the building for much needed work. It took me 4 years to find the right contractor(s). You deal with so much bull from so many...it's amazing. Paul stood out...from start to finish. He delivered everything he promised. Paul came to the site and listened to what I wanted and the questions I had; he took measurements and walked around...asked a lot of questions...not one of his questions were: "What's your budget?" Instead, he said he would have to consider the time, manpower, and the project as a whole (if it was workable), then he would devise a bid, send me a copy, and set up a time to go over it with me. Paul was so thorough that when he left I began to hope (worry) he could and would take the job. Paul called me once or twice to clarify the work. He would install insulation, use OSB (instead of plywood), and TyVek (brand). Decision on the siding came down the line (between stucco, APE, and T1 11); also installed brand new double-pane windows. Paul was cool with my choices; he said they are all pretty much within the same range regarding interiors. The bid was sent a week later and we met several days after to go over everything. My bids came in from, $169,000 to $301,000; Paul was in the middle with every detail down to the wire. His bid was so clear and crisp from the Permit application to the caution of placing extra money aside for unexpected problems (dry rot, termites) that are common in jobs this big. It also included all labor, materials, scaffolding, what he did do and wouldn't do (dryVit stucco). In May of 2018...we were on board...signed, sealed, delivered to start July 7, 2018; this gave me time to notify my tenants and let them know they could not park in their assigned spots until the work was complete. Scaffolding arrived on the day and time promised. Paul's crew are THE BEST AND SECOND TO NONE. They worked hard, were on time every day, Monday - Friday 8: am - 4:30 pm with a half hour lunch, and were immaculate. Every day they left the area swept and clean...all garbage and debris removed (including all the old siding). They were also extremely courteous to my tenants and a very fun bunch of happy guys...just great to have on a job like this. The job went really smooth, Inspector was happy and we passed all three inspections. We ran into some dry rot and termite damage; dry rot included 3 beams under steps and deck (rough job), and termite damage was 1 beam (termite damage was under warranty and cost us nothing). Beams with dry rot only added $6,000...mainly because they had to secure the decks on 4 floors to remove the old beams and replace with new (labor). It was a good save and the building is really secure. Decided on same siding, "T1 11" and pre-mix special color stucco on ground level (pictures attached). The bid never changed. Work was wrapped up in mid-August 2018 and I couldn't be happier...so are my tenants. Two important issues: 1). Paul returns and responds to all your calls and texts immediately. 2). He always keeps you informed on what is going on (where you're at, what's next, timelines). That's my review of Exterior Remodeling Specialists...THE BEST EVER CONTRACTOR & CREW!!! **If you are going to do siding, painting, and / or anything that requires scaffolding...bring your neighbors on board. Send them a letter letting them know what you are planning, the work and time involved, and who your contractor is. It shows respect and helps the project along. I did all of the above and offered to clean the exterior of their windows when the job is complete (for all the dust & dirt that flew around). They were all very appreciative and were great to Paul and his crew. **This is up to you...but I treated the crew to lunch every Friday ($20 each), and once in a while brought them some cookies or cupcakes. When they wrapped up I gave each of them a $100 bill with a "Thank You" note. They deserved that and more. **Read your contract CAREFULLY. Paul is honest and thorough...but others (if you don't use Paul) have loop holes that are going to protect them...NEVER YOU. Stephen Lee of Master Roofing System and his crews have done an excellent job for replacing the roof for our residence. The work included a 3-layer torch-down modified bitumen system for the flat roof area, a HD shingle system for the pitched roof side and all the copper work. Stephen Lee's estimate was reasonable. I had a few quotes from different companies and they were just wanting to rip up the roofing on the light well and redo the whole roof. Brian came along and just said he could fix it with a corrugated panel on top and fixing the scupper like it was supposed to be fixed. The previous roofers did a lousy job and when my roof got clogged and flooded, it was just the side near the window that was leaking and caused all the water damage in the bathroom and in the garage. Brian said he could just fix it without having to redo the roof and my impression of him was that he was down to earth honest. He fixed the problem and without a lot of cost involved. His straightforwardness basically saved me a lot of money. These are the types of people I like to work with. Honest contractors are hard to find. Sergio did the original inspection and estimate, and went over both the company and the work plan with me before I selected them from the several other companies who provided estimates. Their estimate was in the middle, and they didn't require payment except the deposit until completion of work and final inspection. The project manager Luis and his team completed the work, which was a complete tear-off and re-shingle, in a little more than 3 days. They did a beautiful job, including some improved flashing compared with the last time it was done, and those new Ohagen vents. They cleaned up and left the site spotless every day, no nails or other waste. The concrete pad around the house is cleaner than when they started. At the end, I asked Luis how long he thinks this roof might last. "Forty years" was his confident reply. It's so nice not to have to worry about any more leaks! We've already had a couple of heavy rains since then and the new roof is functioning perfectly. Highly recommended!

The crew arrived on time and repaired the roofing on a small bump-out section of our house; they adjusted the slope for proper water drainage as well. They also replaced a significant amount of rotted wood with new shingles. On our main roof, they sealed all exposed nails and around multiple flashings. They did quality work and we were able to get this all done before the rainy season! Tony addressed the specific issues of our roof, including a low slope and unpredictable wind conditions, and recommended a torch down roof, and not shingles, which were recommended by other roofers.
