I needed a quick turnaround time for attic and crawl space insulation, and 911 attic insulation stayed true to its name. Max was the only one who gave me the next day's appointment among many I reached out to. I told him to consider me as a dummy, and to explain to me the top things I should be doing to add warmth to my newly bought house. He explained everything in detail and at no point tried to oversell anything. He also inspected narrow spaces and did not show the slightest inconvenience in an attempt to charge more for the job because of that. Some others did that, hence pointing it out. He got me a super competitive quote that gave me no reason not to say yes. The highly positive Yelp reviews also helped. On the day of the job, the team arrived on time and was very professional. Ishmael, in particular, communicated effectively throughout. The overall process was a breeze, and I am glad we could get it done before moving in. It is noisy, so I recommend vacating the house for 4-5 hours. They were done earlier than promised, and the quality was excellent throughout. Abbreviated Original review: We had new insulation installed back in May. The pricing and timing was very competitive, and I had high confidence in the team. The actual job went relatively well, save for a broken pot, and unfortunately a crushed duct for a newly installed whole house fan. I informed Max of the damage and that I would have the fan installer return the next day to assess damage and provide an invoice for repair/replacement. I was assured that we would be taken care of. The crushed duct was assessed to be irreparable. Photos were taken. And fortunately, the fan installer agreed to do the replacement at cost. The repair was done, photos and invoice were sent over to Max and 911 Attic Insulation. After following up every week or so and being assured it would be handled, communication completely stopped. We were planning to replace our roof and attic insulation, and asked 911 attic insulation to give us a quote in January, and Max came over and did a thorough inspection. He did find some traces of animal feces and recommended us to do the insulation after the roof is done. Their quote was very competitive and detailed. After 4 month in May when our roof was done, I contacted him again and he was still able to honor the quote price and offered to clean the space above the garage in the quote as well. After gathering 6-7 different quotes servicing South Bay, I chose 911 Attic Insulation because I trusted Max, the project manager who visited my home and provided the initial inspection and quote. His pricing was far more fair than the other companies I've requested quotes from. Max was communicative given his busy schedule, and helped address my questions when they arose through text or call. Day of job: A team of three came to vacuum and clean my attic, sanitize my crawl space and attic, seal and rodent proof, and installed batt 38s. Started around 10 and ended around 2pm. They took pictures (albeit some not too clear or redundant, I do wish there was a more organized system of what they are taking pictures of ex: each corner, center in batches, areas of concern, fixed rodent proofed area, etc.) During the process they had a plastic barrier for the working area (I do wish they were more cautious and attentive to the barrier because it did fall off or they ripped it halfway to do crawlspace and left it open, I had to request it to be taped up again since the wind was blowing in debris from the vacuumed insulation, and eventually the tape lost integrity leaving large gaps to the living room) Overall I thought the team did a fine job. I will recommend them to friends and family and would use them again. I'll have to go up and inspect their work because again the pictures were not the best in highlighting the finer details of the work. Most of the mess was cleaned up, there was still some insulation debris around the area where they had the machine, and some of my plants were stepped on and broken. Not a big deal but I do wish they were more considerate of that. It's a tough job, it gets hot, so I don't blame them at all. I tried my best to provide cold refreshments at various times throughout the day knowing the tough working conditions. Today will be the first test of the new insulation, since weather will be in the low 90s. Excited to feel the difference! Update: after posting my review, Max and the owner Joe called me to understand what went wrong and to see what could be done to make it right. As a family owned business, they care deeply about customer service. They made it clear that if I had let them know about these issues even after they left, they would have taken care of them so I didn't have to fix/clean things myself. They also offered to reimburse me for my time. Out of fairness to them since it's true they didn't get an opportunity to address some of the issues originally, I'm adding a star back. -- We recently had our attic insulation redone by 911 Attic Insulation. It was a relatively complex job with 3 attics plus a crawlspace. Max was friendly and accommodated our requested quote changes and rescheduling around other contractors, and the price was very competitive. They got it done in 1 day. They were able to install batt insulation into some pretty tight spaces close to the edge of the roof, which I wasn't sure would be possible. I also appreciated that they provided some before/during/after photos. There were several issues though. Max wasn't very responsive or communicative during the planning process. He also wasn't able to physically look in our attics and crawlspace for the estimate due to an injury, which is understandable except that later he was upset that the crawlspace turned out to be about 100 sq ft larger than I originally thought. During the installation, the installers were not very professional. They brought the upstairs insulation through the nursery window instead of through the hallway as I had asked. They somehow broke a closet door and two pieces off of my expensive smart shades, but they never told me. The air sealing foam leaked through one of the recessed lights, and another recessed light was popped out of its hole and wouldn't go back up because insulation was jammed too tightly. They missed some spots in the crawlspace rodent proofing, which were on the small side but probably still should have been sealed. They decided not to remove some electrical debris because they weren't sure if it was still connected, but they could have asked me to confirm. They left trash in the front yard and driveway. The plastic containment sheeting was put up poorly and resulted in bits of fiberglass around the house. The interior walls were so grimy that I had to spend hours scrubbing them of handprints. Some of these things I didn't notice until they had already left and it was too late, and for the ones I did notice and asked about, they were cagey and just wanted to leave as fast as possible. To their credit, when I asked them about the broken closet door, they dug through their trash to try to find the broken pieces. They sent a handyman to fix it after they left. When Max came to collect the check, he did add the missing rodent sealing in the crawlspace. Overall, the final result was mostly fine, but there should have been fewer frustrations for a job costing nearly $8K. read more

It all started when my bathroom remodel contractors found fresh rat droppings while installing a new moisture fan. We immediately reached out to a couple different attic cleaning and rodent proofing companies and found that a full clean, rodent proofing, and new insulation would cost us a pretty hefty sum. I hired 911 Attic to blow in cellulose insulation in some of our ceilings and walls of our 5 bedroom house. Why? Because sounds literally bleed throughout the house as if it were a studio apartment. While here, I also had them add some Rockwool insulation to the ceiling joists in our attic. Apparently, drywall is a poor insulator, so the added insulation should certainly keep us warmer this winter, and I'll update this review when I get the chance to monitor attic temps in the winter vs. the house. But has the blown in insulation helped with my sound troubles? A little. I had high hopes, but also had to temper my expectations because there are many components to sound proofing a wall. I would say noise bleeding from the Roomba vacuuming carpet upstairs to downstairs or the Nest Audio speakers between floors has been muffled better, and the rooms with added wall insulation have more attenuated sound bleed in/out. I don't have specific decibel numbers to back up my subjective feel, but while sounds may be reduced, know that insulation alone won't stop all sound bleed. Overall, Max is pretty cool, gave prompt quotes, and had his guys out in a reasonable time frame (1 week from scheduling). The ceiling joist insulation (due to low attic height) took them a bit longer, and they finished the project in about 1.5 days. My constructive feedback would be, that despite all the plastic sheeting they used, there was still a fine layer of dust from the blown in insulation that was left behind. I imagine this is hard to control, but is something to keep in mind with any construction project. Keep any rooms not being touched closed to reduce this dust. The guys did the best they could to vacuum up, and I think this was just what settled from the air due to fine particulates. read more
