    Rice roll... Average
    Mark L.

One thing impressed me was the soy sauce for the rice roll was warm. That's very thoughtful and the sauce taste good too. The rice roll is ok. The congee was average in Vancouver standard. The service was so so. The clay pot over rice was interesting but we didn't order it, they accidentally put it in front of us and smell really good. The pineapple bun was ok. The milk tea is average.

Forgot to take a photo I until 1/2 done eating. It was all so good.

Super fresh and tasty rice rolls. The rice noodle is so thin, I think they make the layers of noodle only when you order it. Casual hidden restaurant but the service was friendly and attentive compared to most authentic Asian restaurants. Cash or Debit card. First time there. We had shrimp chives rice rolls, corn spam egg rice roll, fish congee, noodle soup, dough sticks, and soy milk. All perfectly cooked. Even the kids were happy. We will definitely be back.

I kept seeing this spot pop up on my feed and had to check them out. Rice rolls? Congee? Two things I adore. As their name suggests, they specialize in rice rolls. With over 20 types of rice rolls to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming. I tried one with beef and was anticipating the typical dimsum style beef which is ground and chopped up, so you could imagine I was a little taken back when it arrived with slices of what is likely to be shabu shabu or hot pot beef slices within it. To be clear, this wasn't a bad thing. I should have looked at all the pics here and I would have known before ordering. Most importantly, the rice roll itself was a perfect texture and I'd definitely try it again. As part of a combo available before 11am, I also ordered a sliced fish congee. It wasn't anything special, but it helped fill me up since the rice rolls themselves wouldn't be enough for any larger appetite. I think I'll have to hit up this spot again to be sure, but for what it is... It's a solid choice. HK style breakfast foods at reasonable prices with the pre-11am combos.

**Review is for my indoor experience in March, prior to indoor dining closing** I loved the food here but thought it was pricey for the small portions. I came here with a friend for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 1:30, since I had some errands to run in Richmond. The menu is pretty straightforward and consists of a variety of congee and rice rolls. Most of the congee and rice rolls cost around $7-8. If you come earlier, between 8-11 am, you can also order their breakfast combo which is a congee + rice roll set for $13.75. I wasn't sure if a rice roll would be enough, so I ordered both the the #1 rice roll (shrimp, scallop, and beef) as well as a fish congee. My friend, who is vegetarian, ordered #21 (green onion and egg rice roll), as well as a Chinese donut ($3.25). I really enjoyed my rice roll but wish there was more chang fun / rice roll to it for the $8 I paid. It feels like I finished it with just a couple bites. It's good I ordered the congee as well, otherwise I would've been pretty hungry still. My friend enjoyed his rice roll as well but agreed it wasn't that filling. He ended up ordering a second rice roll when he realized he needed more food. We ended up paying close to $40 after tax and tip for this lunch... not a cheap meal. Note: they accept WeChat Pay, Alipay, and cash

Tucked away in a corner of a retail plaza, this place is very small so get there early or be prepared to wait. Great value for Chinese comfort food like an assortment of steamed rice rolls and congee. Their steam rolls are super thin and so tasty!

I LOVE rice rolls and could eat them every day. There aren't any restaurants that specialize in rice rolls, in the Bay Area, Ca where I live (to my knowledge). I was excited to find a spot that specializes in this when I was visiting Vancouver. I went in on Tuesday 8/16/22 around opening time. Upon sitting down they bring you a nice warm cup of tea. You can order on your phone but I was having problems loading the page so I asked the staff to bring me a physical menu. I decided to order the egg and onion rice roll. Seems very simple but with the special soy sauce it was delicious. The steamed rice roll was extremely smooth and tasty. I also ordered HK milk tea which went well with the rice roll.

Overall fair. Their specialty rice rolls, lots of varieties to choose and accompany well with congee. However, the roll itself doesn't have that slurpy texture, a little too thick. I tried their 3 trios, consisted scallops, shrimp and beef with some veggies wrapped in the roll. The scallops do not go well in my opinion. The beef brisket roll had good flavors but the meat was too chewy. The sauce paired well with the roll. Their butter pineapple bun was toasty and tasted delicious. The congee was ok, not too watery. Service was slow on my visit and keep getting orders wrong. They also didn't have fish slice for congee or rolls.

Got to say, I did NOT have any of their Rice Rolls. I know what you are thinking, I go to a place with Rice Rolls in the name of the restaurant and don't try them out. Don't lecture me. LOL. I wasn't in the mood, but the next time I am there, I will definitely try out their rice rolls and write another updated review. My immediate reaction when I entered the restaurant was, "Why is there a cart of dirty dishes upon entering?" I guess it's the only place to put them? This didn't disturb me, I guess that corner upon entering is the only spot for it. Anyway, this doesn't affect the rating I gave. I got seating within 2 minutes. Payment: Cash They don't accept credit cards, so please make sure you carry change or bills. Grub: Wonton Noodles I was craving this place when I got there. I would totally recommend. A REPEAT on my list. Good texture of the wonton. Noodles good too! Thirst: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea More milk, less ice. This is a definite REPEAT drink for me. Sweets: Egg Tart I love egg tarts, but this egg tart didn't seem to stand out. Good taste, but didn't stand out for me. I highly recommend this place for the HK Style Milk Tea and the Wonton Noodles.

This HK style dimsum/ snack place just opened for less than a month and is still testing the clientele and the feedback (should I say it is still on probation?) Apparently there's lots of room for improvements: such as the price, the portion, the menu, the pace of food presentation etc etc... I think I should give them some time to accommodate and set up the right and perfect match.. Hope next time when I come MRR would be the real master of rice roll!

We went on a Saturday morning and it was packed. The portion sizes are big considering the price. The food was authentic and didn't need much seasoning/sauce. We ordered a rice roll and congee combo with HK style milk tea. The food was affordable and the bill came out to $30 including tax and tip.

This is my go to breakfast spot when in Richmond. They are the only ones open very early and have the things I have crave - great congee and rice noodle. We ordered a few combos and additional rice noodle and fried chicken knee. The chicken knee was very interesting, but popular among my friends. Its definitely chewy and you can taste the cartilage . The rice noodles (add egg in each of them) were just as amazing as I remembered them to be. The congee is full of flavor and the silky texture is just great.

TAKE OUT IDEA ALERT for takeout sometimes I really crave some delicious congee and rice noodles, and lets just say Fantuan comes in handy when it comes to this. Currently Fantuan offers 20% off from orders of Master rice roll! TOTAL STEAL! * #5 Fatty beef slices rice roll ($8.70) ~ This is so good, they have a sweet soy sauce that comes with it for the rice roll. The rice roll itself is nice and silky and very well made. The fatty beef inside the rice roll is so bomb with the sweet soy sauce. Also there veggies in the rice roll too so it adds a nice texture to the dish. * #2 Tingzai Congee ($8.70) ~ I love the tingzai congee here, its super filled with different fillings from seafood, peanuts, to different meats. Its very flavourful and delicious. I love their congee perfect thickness, and its super delicious. * 10/10 ~ I LOVE ORDERING HERE, they make it all fresh and its so good. Such good flavours and tastes so bomb. * 10/10 ~ 20% off Fantuan is such a steal and its so delicious, portions are good too. Lots of filling in the congee. Total bill before tip: $15.49

Love this congee place! This is my second time here, ordered take out last time and we ate everything before we took picture. Perfect rainy morning day off for me to enjoy some quiet time. They have a special combo for mornings before 11am, congee plus rice roll. I have to say that I have been craving for them since last time I ordered takeout. However they are slightly on the expensive side for breakfast, $13.95 for the combo vs no.9 for the same kind of combos for under $10.00 But I decided to splurge again and see if it still lives up to my craving, and YES! :) You can definitely tell the difference of a good bowl of congee. Seasoned, creamy and soft ummmm steaming good Rice rolls are excellent, well they are call master of rice rolls! And this time at sit in I got to try their specialty spicy sauce. I love it! Spicy, with some kinda nutty taste, perfect for rice rolls. Another thing I love about this place is that it has a long bar table by the window. So great for a person like me that enjoys meal alone sometimes, and just eat and read or yelp :p (while listening to a guy next time me right now humming the song currently playing) Come try! I want to make sure to keep a good congee place alive in Richmond since we lost my favourite awhile back to constructions.

Long lines at both the Yaohan and Henderson Mall locations speak to how popular it is, and the pricing sits in the affordable range for generous, full-meal plates rather than snack-sized portions. The overall value proposition is strong: you get real-deal HK café flavours without feeling like corners were cut. Dishes come out fast and hot, and the kitchen does not skimp on proteins--whether it's pork chops, chicken, or beef, plates feel properly loaded rather than padded with carbs. Despite the crowds, service is efficient and geared toward turnover, which suits the food court setting and keeps waits manageable once you've actually ordered. It's the kind of place where you grab your tray, sit, and eat rather than linger, but it delivers exactly what you come for. Given the combination of flavour, portion size, and price, Cha Don is an easy recommend for Hong Kong café fans looking for a quick, satisfying meal. The only real downside is the lineup; at peak times the queue can be enough to make you think twice. Still, if the line isn't too long, it's absolutely worth returning for another round.

We went around 1pm and surprisingly they ran out of a lot of options including the baked pork chop rice that I really wanted to try. Despite that, we still gave this place a try since there is barely a line, very unusual for this place. We ended up with the scallion chicken noodle (breakfast item), satay beef vermicelli (breakfast item), and black pepper baked filet over rice. These are stuff out of what I usually get, but I still enjoyed them. The scallion chicken dish was $15 which is a bit steep especially given the chicken is tiny but comes with hot drink. The chicken is a grilled chicken with skin which is flavorful, though the noodles were a bit underseasoned so it is ideal to add the sauce from the chicken into the noodles. The satay beef vermicelli is amazing. The beef is so tender and flavorful, and enhances the flavor of the vermicelli. The eggs and toast were delicious too - eggs were scrambled over easy, and the toast is very crunchy. Black pepper baked filet over rice was pretty hearty. I love the fragrance of the rice and the filet is very tender. The black pepper sauce does clash and dominate some of the flavors but it is still nonetheless well executed. For the drinks that come with the meals, we got milk tea and milk tea + coffee (yin yang) - these drink are high in caffeine even with the small size! Will update to 5 stars when I try the full suite of items they are known for, since the dishes we got were good but stuff that I could've gotten elsewhere.

I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. My commentary: Baked pork chop on rice was only OK/not bad. I've had better. Angel Cafe, Van Tea, and Cafe Gloucester come to mind. It needed more tomato sauce, more cheese, and the pork was not cripsy. Baked curry beef brisket on rice was not bad. I don't have a reference to this because it's the first time I've tried it. It was pretty decent overall. The brisket was very tender. Pineapple bun with a slice of heart attack. This was good. Nice crunchy topping, soft bun, served with an coronary artery hardener. If you like your 菠蘿油, this is for you. They come in different iterations, btw. Regular/original, red bean, and chocolate. I got a chocolate BLB to go. Other notes. Custard/egg tarts. This is the style I like. With the cookie crust pastry base. Good eggy flavour in the custard. Chocolate pineapple bun - there's chocolate filling in the middle. If they made this with a Fererro Rocher like filling, it would sell like hotcakes! I think I'll skip the baked rices next time. They were underwhelming. Going to go for the instant ramen! There are other baked goods. Wiener bun with cheese and a loaf of white bread to go, was what I got. Seating for about 30 inside with additional seating on outside patio. Parking available on the street. I got the almost HK service. An Ikea patio table and chair set. You know the one - $29.99 for the TÄRNÖ table. Standard HK Chinese service. Efficient, not terribly engaging, order via QR code, and they bring it to you. As minimal human contact as possible. I feel like I was in the Artemis 2 Capsule, minus the weightlessness and a 搭台 experience. Not sure why they served the baked rice offerings in a foil take out container. Saves on costs, or no need to buy heavy oven safe stoneware? I will come back to try other things. Arrive early before the lunch crowd. Cash and debit only.
