After having a late lunch at Jetside at the hotel, we decided to have dinner at The Globe. The restaurant has been on my list for Vancouver as it was listed in a Food Journey's book I have. We were seated next to the window which was great as we could watch planes come and go. Our server came over quickly, brought water and took our drink orders. We decided to start with the beer bread served with honey, and butter topped with bee pollen. The bread was cut in manageable chunks and was really very good. Mr. B chose the Salmon dish, and he really enjoyed the meal. I ordered the truffle and mushroom risotto. While the dish was really flavorful, creamy and had a hint of truffle, it had large chunks, even whole mushrooms which was odd for risotto. I wished the mushrooms were cut in small pieces and were a compliment to the risotto instead of filling the spoon so it was hard to get a bite of risotto and mushroom together. We were tired as we had been traveling for a while and we had an early flight the next morning, and really expected a dining experience. We should have waited to order our dinners instead of ordering them with the bread, as our meals were quickly out of the kitchen. The restaurant is a little tired and the finish was peeling off of our chairs. It just didn't feel as special as everything I had read made it sound. While the food was good, it just didn't meet our expectations. But if you are there for the night, I would recommend it as otherwise it is fast food in the airport. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Fairmont YVR hotel. I was actually staying in this hotel and thought I might end up having dinner here with my mom, but instead we opted for a much simpler, more economical dinner at one of the Airport shops. Mom was very enthusiastic about our short stay in this fancy hotel, but wasn't really in the mood for having dinner in the fancy hotel restaurant. So after dinner, while mom was resting in the hotel room I decided to come down to this restaurant and at least treat myself to a dessert here. I ordered a Tiramisu. OK...I actually ordered the Tiramisu to go, so that I could enjoy it in the comfort of our hotel room. However, they still gave me the option of having it served either in a dish which I could take back to my room, or in a take out container, to take back to my room. I opted for the dish. It looked so much prettier that way! It was a really yummy Tiramisu but holy smokes...$15 for this small dessert? Pretty extravagant and don't think I would order it again. This was a once in a life time Tiramisu for me. Absolutely nothing wrong with the flavor. Just that the serving size was really puny for $15. I made sure to enjoy every last bite of it! read more

Pro Tip: if you are flying out back to the United States, the restaurant pickings are slim once you go through Security and Customs so for the past decade I always stop and have a bite to eat at the Fairmont Globe Lounge. It's almost like being a member of an Airline Club in the sense that the lounge area is nicer. I normally grab lunch and do some work before going through Customs. Today's entree was the Teriyaki Bowl rice with chicken which was good albeit the kitchen was a bit heavy handed on the teriyaki sauce and wish they had more rice to sop up the excess sauce. The Cheesecake definitely made up for that excess teriyaki sauce as it was "LIT" as the younger generation would say with my coffee. Service standards were above par with Jordan and Claude. I travel a lot for work, frequently with a night layover, and whether I stay at the hotel or not I try to spend a couple hours here. The drinks are great, with specials on rotation, the food is always quality and have gluten free options available, and the ambiance is especially nice, usually with live music. Following a tradition of sharing high tea in my visits with my mom - today's was at YVR just beside the runway where we got to drink tea, enjoy finger foods, conversation and the planes coming and going. Melissa was our server and she was lovely - made sure that everything was perfect for us including sending us home with extra scones to make up for the vegan scones which were not a hit. Other than that all of the food was delicious - I loved the cucumber sandwich and the butternut squash on a tiny baguette. We had a table by the window which was quiet and bright. It was not as cozy as some of the other high teas we've experienced but it was at an airport so not surprising. The Fairmont is known for its quality and this high tea did not disappoint. read more

This is the second time I have visited this restaurant for afternoon tea. I really like the view, where we can watch airplanes taking off and landing, as the restaurant is located at YVR Airport. First, we chose our teas. I picked Vanilla Chai, and my partner picked Ontario Icewine.The Vanilla Chai has a strong vanilla flavor, is very creamy, and has a noticeable spice taste. I really like it. On the bottom tier of the 3-tier afternoon tea stand, we had truffle egg salad sandwiches, chicken rillette sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, and shrimp tarts. The smoked salmon sandwich was very unique with pickled onion and cucumber. I liked the chicken rillette and truffle egg sandwiches, which were very solid. The shrimp tart was also delicious. On the middle tier, there were blueberry scones and cheese scones. These two freshly baked scones were really delicious! Both had strong flavors and I liked the scone texture, too. They were one of the best items. On the top tier, the dessert section featured Linzer cookies (with raspberry jam), chocolate éclairs, blueberry tarts, and almond financiers. The cookie was just okay. I liked the blueberry tart and chocolate éclairs. The almond financier could have been a bit softer and more buttery. Overall, I enjoyed the afternoon tea with the nice airport view. My last visit was a few years ago, and at that time, the portions were a bit larger. However, I understand that recent food prices are higher. I do appreciate that they provide a large tea portion, possibly one of the largest teapots I've ever had at afternoon tea. We visited Globe @YVR for afternoon tea. If I could rate this 4.5 stars I think that might be more appropriate since 5 stars might make sense for 100% perfection but the accommodations they made for us made up for a lot of my stars. Before getting there I did read some of the reviews saying that service was bad, but in my opinion, satisfaction of service is subjective and depends on your ideas and expectations. The service we received was wonderful but I don't consider us to be exceptionally particular. I can see how some may not care for our waitress she was solemn but she got was professional and made sure we got what we needed. When we arrived we were immediately seated and water poured. It did take a minute for our waitress to take our tea order. I noticed on the menu that one of the items was a crab roll, which we don't really eat crab, so I requested if there was anything we could sub. She said "well you should have mentioned that prior as the tea is pre-fixed, but I will see what they can do for you, I'm sure we can find something". So as you can see part of that was a little snarky but ultimately she brought out a lovely egg sandwich, the best my mom and I had ever tasted. There was more food than either of us could finish so we got a to-go box. We loved EVERY item we tasted. We loved the scones - even my mom and she doesn't like scones. For my birthday they kindly gave me a complimentary tray of three big, beautiful chocolate covered strawberries which was very special. The service was not speedy quick but if you're going to tea for quick service you might be missing the point. The hardest part was the parking as we drove straight to the restaurant and so we had to drive around the airport again to then go to the parking garage. You will receive a voucher when you get to the restaurant that has a QR code to scan when you leave that will comp you three hours of parking. If you have the time and means for this experience I do recommend it. It is a bit pricey. Not sure it's worth $85 per person, I think a better price might be $65 but you do get a lot of food and get a lovely view and great atmosphere. Do check for a coupon online before going. For a detailed review of items: The rolls are egg salad, best we've ever had. They were made with a whole grain mustard in a sweet role which just pulled everything together. And no pickles which made my mom happy. The black roll is a spiced chicken breast sandwich with mango chutney on a charcoal bun. There were also feta tarts, which were my least favorite but good, wish they would have been warm. And the fourth savory item was a caprese finger sandwich. A little soggy but I loved the popping balsamic bubbles on top. I heard the group behind us saying the caprese was their favorite. We got 2 scones each, one lemon and the other seemed to be honey flavored. Both were buttery, sweet, and melted in your mouth. Served with cream and jam. And then 5 desserts per person! All the desserts were amazing but we were especially impressed with the macrons and pana cotta. read more

I was anticipating a wonderful Father's Day Experience here and left extremely disappointed. Service was appallingly bad. To the point of being non existence. How can you staff a restaurant serving a Father's Day Experience Brunch special and only have what looked like 2 staff? Also, the greeter was rude and had an attitude when we told her the seats were dirty. The food took an age to arrive, and when it did there was no gravy for the 'biscuits and gravy' portion of the meal. We couldn't do anything about it because there was no staff available to ask. They were too busy running around the place due to understaffing. To make things worse, the delays in the food, the service and getting the bill made us late for our next appointment. And to cement what was an awful experience, the ticket given to us to exit the parking lot (they claimed to offer complimentary parking) did not work on multiple exit booths causing us to have to pay $56 to leave. Fairmont has really let us down on what was supposed to be a special occasion and stuck an unexpected $56 charge on top. read more

He was so not present, was constantly avoiding remaining at the table for longer than 15 seconds, then running off without even listening. I was expecting atleast a half of a chicken....instead for that $50 I was served a SINGLE miniature chicken wing on a bed of barely visible flavorless mashed potatoes (literally one table spoon), with some BS sauce squirted around on a giant plate, like someones bad art! Just a disgusting act of gouging people at the airport. Highly do Not recommend this place. You would get much more satisfaction lighting your money on fire. High Tea with a view of the planes heading off for adventure, what could be better? High tea here is $79/person and came with a tea each. Focaccia Bite - Interesting choice to have for high tea, it came in a separate cup that wasn't on the tier. The bread was cheesy and fluffy but the cheese sauce was disappointing because it was watery. Deviled Egg Salad - Not too strong on the mayo and I liked that it was in a little cream puff pastry. Asparagus & Truffle Cream Cheese - The toast on the bottom was a little stale but the truffle cream cheese helped balance it out. Even though I'm not a huge truffle fan, I didn't mind it because it was a subtle truffle flavour. Coronation Chicken - The chicken was flavoured with curry and it resembled a little savoury burger. I liked that there was a different flavour profile compared to the rest of the items. Shrimp Louie - little shrimp with caviar on top, need I say more? The filling was delish and the only negative is that I wish the tart pastry it was in was flakier Sweet Butter Scone - I liked this scone better than the apple cardamom one. It was buttery on the inside and had a crispy exterior. The clotted cream and strawberry jam were nice compliments. Apple Cardamom Scone - I liked that the dried apple chunks lightly sweetened the scone but I'm not a fan of cardamom so that's why I didn't like it as much as the butter scone. Lemon Tart - topped with a crunchy meringue, this lemon tart was tart but so nicely balanced by the sweet meringue on top. Ruby Chocolate Mousse - Super decadent ruby chocolate mousse! It was creamy and smooth, easily one of my fav desserts on the tier. Double Chocolate Gateau - If you're a fan of rich chocolate cake, this is the item for you! It's rich, decadent and fudgy all at the same time. While it was all those things, the dark chocolate aspect of the cake prevented it from being too sweet Blueberry Cheesecake - It had fruity blueberry flavour and a light graham cracker crumb on the bottom. After many many requests, high tea has returned! Thanks Groupon as we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon high tea experience at the airport. (Haven't set foot in an airport for a while so it seemed a bit surreal). The creamy earl grey was excellent to start off our mini culinary adventure. The mushroom arancini was crispy and flavourful. I was going to go right into the sandwiches but was quickly corrected to start from the bottom with their scones. It seemed counterintuitive to start with something sweet but I'm not a high tea connoisseur. The butter milk scone was very good and I loaded on tons of Devonshire cream and jam. Next is the sandwiches and I quite enjoyed the beetroot-pickled deviled eggs. Loved the pickled flavour with the creaminess of the egg. The smoked salmon paired very well with the fig jam. On to the desserts! The double chocolate cake was very decadent and rich. The other highlight was the lemon macaron. I doubled up on the pumpkin mousse and cheesecake. Look, it's a rare situation in which I find myself desperate for pre-security airport food, but my journey brought me to this restaurant. Compared to the much more sterile and bland pre-security eateries I've been subject to in the past, Globe@YVR is far and away my favorite. View is special, service is nice, menu is pretty expansive without reaching true airport absurdity with respect to pricing. The poke was tasty. The kimchi slaw on the chicken sandwich didn't really work from a texture standpoint, and it was a totally mediocre offering. This was a pleasant enough surprise that I will surely mention it to friends, but to be worth a detour or to fully justify the cost, all of the entrees, and especially the handhelds, need to be elevated a bit more. read more

Hubby and I came for high tea. The lounge is located in the Fairmont at the airport. Parking is the airport parking. They will give you a ticket at the lounge that comps your parking. Took us about 10-15min from walking from the parkade to wandering the airport to find the lounge. Once there, the lounge was spacious and bright. High ceilings and not noisy; saw a couple with their toddler in highchair next to us and didn't hear a thing, so kid-friendly. We sat by the window overlooking the parked airplanes. I chose their signature Jetsetter tea and that was quite tasty and smooth with the milk and honey provided. Hubby got the Grand Bazaar Spice and liked it more, but I found it had too much kick for what I prefer in a tea. For food, their menu changes every so often but I notice they don't do the usual cucumber & cream cheese or egg roll sandwiches, which is great as I preferred something different. We started off with a corn soup in a shot glass with truffle foam. My shot glass was chipped so good thing my hubby noticed before I cut myself. Could also not taste much in the truffle foam so it just added a weird texture. The 2 different type of scones offered were good. It came with 4 "sandwiches" that were bite sized; mostly tasty with good flavors but wish they were bigger. The mushroom grilled cheese was yummy! But the size was so small it was quite a tease. The 4 sweets were the same size as the "sandwiches". They were not too sweet. Liked the pannacotta and the mousse the best. We used a Groupon ($71 for 2 ppl). Even with a Groupon, this takes the high tea to comparable price as other high tea places regular price. The tea, ambience, and food was good (except for the corn soup), but portion sizes were small. Picked up their Thanksgiving meal for two yesterday and overall very happy Everything was packed very well, portions were generous (the mashed was a tad light compared to everything else but a decent portion). The cook and flavour on everything was ideal. Moist flavourful turkey that I presume was brined. Easy to pickup although I may have missed I was supposed to pick up curb side. For $100 plus tax and tip, decent value. Pumpkin pie (or can whose pecan) with chantilly also on point. I made a couple of tweaks to their reheating instructions. They suggest turkey at 300 for forty five mins with half cup of water. I used stock instead of water. The sides suggested 20 mins at same temp. I actually had to go thirty with the last ten at 350 to heat the beans and Brussels sprouts through. Sprouts didn't seem to have any bacon as described on the menu. Gravy was well executed and plentiful as well as velvety in texture. Everything packed in one box made it fairly easy to transport. read more

Second time having dinner here. They seem to care about their guests. Hostess was extremely helpful and very friendly. Abel and I both ordered the crab bisque & cippioni. Note the soup doesn't come with any bread or croutons. I honestly really think they should serve it with some kind of toasted crostini or crouton. It would really compliment the flavor. Unfortunately, they don't but you can purchase a loaf of bread for $10, or some sliced bread for $5. However the cippioni is served with a very nice toasted bread. Our server should maybe have mentioned that to us but it's not a huge deal. The food was good and service was polite. The burger is huge and so is the price at $28 dollars. The live music was great, if you are in the Vancouver airport check it out. Decided to bring my staff to a restaurant for Chinese New Year. As there was heavy snow, we decided to go somewhere close. Decided on this restaurant. The food here was pretty good. A little bit on the expensive side, but well worth the price as the atmosphere was great. Live music and a good team makes all the difference. The only complaint is the service. I stayed at the Fairmont YVR after a week long trip across Canada for work. I was ready to be pampered, and Globe@YVR and their team definitely accommodated me! I started with a perfect boulevardier and oysters, which I know is not the usual beverage and oyster combo, but it's what I wanted. I followed with a nicely prepared steak with a beautiful regional red wine. I also added on the shrimp, which was a misfire--it was a little rubbery. The dessert was a nice capper and made up for the not great shrimp. Service was appropriately friendly and attentive, especially as a solo diner. Nothing irks me more than a place that offers breakfast till 11 but ends the bbuffet at 10. So annoying. So ended up settling for the V omelette. Pains me to say it might have been the blandest thing I've ever had. It had zero flavor. The single roasted tomato atop the 1/4 of a potato hash brown triangle doesn't even come close to settling up the 25 dollar price tag it boasts. The omelette was told to me as being a 4 egg omelette there's no way, 2.5 at best. I love paying for food. However this time, made me cringe. I have been longing for Sable Fish for the longest time. But I'm glad that I finally found the perfect place for it! Our family had dinner at the Globe@YVR while staying at the Vancouver fairmont hotel at YVR. And I'm so glad that we did. The dining experience was wonderful. The service was exemplary. Upon arrival, we were seated quickly. The kids were given their activity book and crayons. It allowed us to go through the menu without too much interruption. Their menu had a wide selection of quality tasting dishes. Considering the quality and portions of the food, the dishes were priced reasonably. We started with the $22 crab cakes. I ordered the Sable Fish $38. My hubby had the porkchop, our kids had Mac n Cheese and Chicken Fingers and milk. My Sable Fish was served with sautéed mushrooms. It complemented the fish quite well. The fish was juicy and it just melted in my mouth. It was glazed with a sweet miso sauce. Both our kids ate most of my food. They loved it as much as I did. The porkchop was cooked to perfection! I never had porkchop so tender, juicy, and tasty. This is a must try. It came with different veggies and mashed potatoes. I am not a big fan of Brussel sprouts, but I couldn't help taking most of them from my hubby's plate. The ones that came with the dish were grilled and had a light salty sauce that just brought out a refreshing taste for these tiny greens. We ended up with a $132 CAD bill, but I think it was so worth it. Given the opportunity, I would go back to dine at this place again and try the other tempting diishes. read more

what a disappointment waited over an hour to be seated. my kids were starving and 10 minutes into dinner all we had been given was a glass of water and not even asked if we were ready to order. we were tired of waiting so we left and ordered room service which was much faster! ironically we checked in at 727 pm at 836 pm notification that table was ready 850 we walked out and went back to hotel room. ordered room service and was eating by 927pm. From what I can tell from Yelp pics, the menu has been curtailed. Having dinner here on a Sunday night and it's highly mediocre. Burrata was ok, but only some of the tomatoes were ripe. I got much better ones at the IGA in Ganges. The mushroom risotto was disappointing. Good size portion of rice with no mushroom broth (tasted like it was made with water), few mushrooms and few "olive oil packed tomatoes". At least those tomatoes were ripe. Very bland. The bright note were the cocktails. Decent Negroni ans an interesting caramel old fashioned. I won't have that one again but they get points for trying. Waiter was nice but not particularly engaged. The kitchen runners were very nice. The room is great--excellent views of the mountains and Cypress Ski area. Live music in the bar was above average talent for a lounge singer. Over all I'll look elsewhere for dinner my next trip. read more

It's not every day when you sit down at a table near the window, and look out to see not only a wonderful distant mountain view, but American, Delta and Air Canada planes at their gates, while planes taxi out to the runway and some are arriving. That is one of the highlights of this location, and makes it unique among "airport" restaurants (although technically, it and the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel of which is part are adjacent the airport and not IN it). The close proximity to YVR isn't distracting. It appears that like the hotel rooms, the windows are soundproofed, so need worrying about plane engines drowning out your conversation. Onto the meal. On this occasion, I only ordered two items. First was the beer bread: oven warm, fresh, homemade tasting, and with 2 or 3 butters to try on each I tore from the small loaf. The entree was a pork belly on polenta with mushrooms and an maple cider sauce; I had first requested no summer squash as I'm not a fan, but there was only a little, so it wasn't a distraction. This dish is also gluten free in preparation, like a few of the selections on the menu. The pork belly was meaty with just the right amount of fat, and the polenta was a nice addition. I'm just sorry there wasn't more of the belly as it was so good; a few slices - that's it. No room for dessert I'm sorry to say - the menu looked wonderful. Service was on the mark. My server was polite and professional, without the need to stand over me at every turn. While I wouldn't go WAY out of my way to come here (it's in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver and is approximately a half-hour or more from downtown depending on traffic), should I stay at the lovely Fairmont Vancouver again, this would be my place to visit for a chance to spoil myself just a bit. read more

We had a fantastic burger experience here! I would highly recommend the BEEF BURGER with its sweet Brioche bun, 1/2 lb of juicy beef, and crisp lettuce. My only comment would be the bun couldn't stand up to the beef, and quickly became soggy and greasy. The QUINOA BURGER was also interesting and satiating with its thick quinoa avocado patty and thick slice of Halloumi cheese. You would be paying $25-$30 for these burgers (including a side of fries or salad), but you'd be dining in a quiet, spacious restaurant with floor to ceiling windows, so it's a nice treat once in a blue moon. ;) read more

My afternoon tea experience with the Globe@YVR was disappointing. MAKING THE RESERVATION: First of all, I had some problems making the reservation for the afternoon tea. When I called their restaurant's number, I was redirected to the main Fairmont YVR switchboard. The switchboard girl told me she could make the reservation for me. I told her I wanted a 4 pm reservation. She told me that the time would not work because the afternoon tea ends at 4:30 pm so I would only have a half an hour. My understanding was that afternoon tea is served until 4:30 pm and that you could still remain in the restaurant afterwards. I told this to the switchboard girl and she made the reservation. I was not very confident so I tried to call the Global@YVR to confirm this. I called two other times and was never able to talk to someone at the restaurant. I was redirected to the switchboard every time. THE FOOD: The afternoon tea was good but standard afternoon tea quality. Nothing really stood out for me. I did enjoy the strawberries that were provided to compliment the tea. I also liked the tea timer that was given to us. THE SERVICE: There were not many people in the restaurant when we were there. In fact, there was just only one server for the restaurant. In the beginning, the service was good. The server brought introduced the tea, brought the tea timer, and introduced the afternoon tea items. However, he did not check on us during the meal and we really needed to get some more water for our tea!!! He was busy setting up other tables and we were not able to get his attention. THE BILL: I had a 2 for 1 voucher for the afternoon tea and I wanted to pay the excess of the bill with my Fairmont gift card. I had previously spoken to someone about a week ago at the Globe restaurant (when they were answering calls) that I was able to do so. Unfortunately, the server mentioned that it would be too complicated to process the voucher along with the gift card. Since the excess of the bill was small, he noted that it would be easier to use cash or credit card. If there are issues with processing a simple Fairmont gift card, the Fairmont needs to upgrade their IT system. That is pretty ridiculous for such a high end hospitality chain. The server mentioned that the Fairmont gift card would have needed to be processed at the front desk or something like that. I was disappointed that I was not able to use a Fairmont gift card at the Fairmont. Who would have known? My Yelp Elite friend and I decide to tip a lesser amount as a result. The server did apologize after he realized I paid a small tip and he offered us another 2 for 1 coupon as well as a few jars of honey. He did say thank you sincerely as we left. RECOMMENDATIONS: I guess this is a process issue in which Fairmont management needs to improve the staffing as well as their payment system. Afterall, it wasn't like I was using a traveler's cheque. I was using a Fairmont gift card to be used at a Fairmont restaurant!! Staying the night at the Fairmont. Had lunch with several people. Service at Global was very accommodating. The soup of the day (Tomato red pepper cream). Many of the crew ordered the Jetside burger. The bun was way too big for the size of burger patty. The fish and chips was perfectly cooked. The container of chips/fries could provide a bit more fries. The salmon was done to perfection. Very nice restaurant, with exceptional service - exactly what you would expect from the Fairmont brand. The lounge area is very spacious and welcoming and they sometimes have live music. I've eaten here a few times and I've always left with the same impression... excellent food, fantastic service... and thinking to myself, 'holy cow, that was pricey'. I am not one of the wealthy people in Vancouver who can afford to eat at places like the Fairmont on a regular basis. This is definitely a save-up and splurge kinda place for me and so it's always a treat when I do get to go. My last visit (yesterday) was for the High Tea - using a Groupon, I must add. The regular price for the Afternoon High Tea is $54 for adults and $27 for children, so it's really nice that they occasionally offer a Groupon special that is $54 for two adults, including 2 hours of parking for one car. When I walked into the restaurant, I was immediately greeting with smiling faces and professional service. Even though using a discount voucher, the serving staff never made us feel like we were being 'cheap' as some other fine dining establishments have done. My friend was already seated, so the hostess showed me to the table. Our server was very nice, always with a smile on her face and so very polite and courteous. Such a pleasure! The selection of teas was fairly decent - I ended up choosing a chai tea and my friend chose an unusual smokey tea, which she really enjoyed. The food was served shortly after - 3 tiers of beautiful treats to indulge in. The savoury treats consisted of egg salad croissants, mushroom tarts, a 'rolled' ham sandwich and something else I can't actually remember now. It might have been smoked salmon mousse or something similar. The middle tier had 4 lemon/blueberry scones with clotted cream and jam, and the top tier had a selection of delicate desserts such as strawberry macarons, lemon tarts, chocolate cake and carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Everything was very pretty, and tasted really good. I don't think there was anything I disliked, although I did find the desserts a bit sweet for my taste. When the bill arrived, our server gave us two more 2-for-1 coupons for another afternoon tea, which was really great. I would love to take my mum here - I know she would love it. read more

Have you ever seen a hotel in an airport? And by in an airport, I do not mean next to the airport, but literally IN the airport? This was a first for me. The Fairmont is just above the check-in counter for Delta, which was perfect for me as I had an hour to kill and it was lunch time. I headed up to the hotel and straight to the hotel restaurant Globe. Surprised to see that Globe does not get more love! How often can you have a nice dining experience with locally caught seafood at an airport? Not ever. The menu is quite expansive with everything from fish to sandwiches and salads. Seeing as this was my last chance to get quality seafood, I opted for the salmon bowl. I am gluten free and was bummed to see that it came out loaded with bread crumbs. They should definitely note that on the menu, as most people ordering fish are expecting it to be without bread. It was also a little more well-done than I would have liked. But the fish was great and fresh and it was on a bowl of rice with green onions, mushrooms and soy sauce. I also tasted the tuna poke bowl. Being from LA, I get a ton of poke and this poke just was not up to snuff. Sablefish with sake miso marinade, bok choy, daikon, king oyster mushroom, in a ginger dashi broth was the highlight. It was also the priciest dish on the menu, so that made sense. Service was very friendly and efficient. Definitely the best option while at YVR. read more
