Came in Friday night for the 8-late happy hour deal. There was hardly anyone in it but apparently it's busier when there are games or events happening downtown. It's very spacious and has lots of TVs to watch sports. Unfortunately, my seat at the booth we were sat at was broken and would lift off whenever I leaned forward but I only realised at a later point in the night. Got these coconut prawns for $12 and they were yummy! I really like the pineapple sambal that came with it. Even though it says it's spicy, it's not spicy at all. Our waiter took a really long time to get the machine after we had asked for the bill - not sure what the hold up was. A friend and I were in Vancouver for one day after an amazing Alaska vacation. Another friend picked us up and in the midst of running around town all day, we stopped for lunch at White Spot. The on-line menu makes it easy to find the limited number of vegan/vegetarian options. There were no vegan options for breakfast. Service was not bad, but certainly could be improved. The restaurant was not busy; our server was very nice when at our table. Unfortunately she was not at our table very often, not even looking over when in the area which was very frustrating. Prices were very reasonable. Two of us had the Tomato/Spinach benedict which was excellent, nicely seasoned hollandaise sauce and perfectly cooked. The second of us with the dish was not as enamoured but was willing to concede it was good. The second dish ordered was the Cinnamon Brioche Waffle & Savoury Potato Stack with no bacon or sausage...but still paid for. It was enjoyed. Would we go back? My family, friends and I have eaten at the White Spot, a Canadian-owned restaurant, for many years, and it has never disappointed us. They have a good range of medium priced food. I especially like the toasted shrimp sandwich - a huge amount of fresh shrimp - and the spot salad. My husband likes the delicious hamburgers and various bowls, and the chicken, broccoli and cheese dish. The servers are well-trained and efficient. A bonus is that White Spot restaurants are open from breakfast through late dinner every day. White Spot is always clean, with many comfortable booths, as well as some stand-alone tables. Slow, slow service. The wait staff are tasked with bartender service which means that if you're not an alcoholic you wait, and wait, and wait to even just place your order for food. I used to go to this White Spot once or twice a month and the service has always been marginal at the best. But it's usually seniors and older business men out for a leisurely visit. If you're coming in for a quick bite, this isn't the place. And it's only gotten worse. And the fact that the wait staff seem to prioritize mixing mixed drinks over taking a simple order and getting it in to the kitchen shows that this place doesn't really place value on repeat customers. If White Spot is going to over task their staff then at least White Spot should offer electronic self ordering where customers can order their food directly and then the wait staff can play behind the bar and mix fancy drinks. read more

So, this is my first review in a LONG time, since my doc has advised me to avoid indoor venues during the pandemic, so I literally have not gone ANYWHERE. In over A YEAR! But now that there are vaccine passports, and I'm more protected, I feel I need to trust the science and go out more. And a Yelper friend was astounded that I have never been to a White Spot. So, long story short, we ventured here one night for dinner. I was really impressed by this place! I know, it's been a long time since I've dined in a restaurant, and that might influence my rating for this place, but honestly, it was super clean, the host and server were super nice, and the food and drinks were really good, and the price, reasonable. What else can one want? I felt as "safe" as one could, considering this was an indoor venue and it was fairly busy on the night we dined here. They checked our vaccine passports. They took my name and contact number. The place was very clean. I was relatively comfortable eating here (and I admit, since the advent of Covid, I've been fairly paranoid to go anywhere). I ordered a Bellini which was not only beautiful, but it was delicious. Very well made. And because I hadn't had a burger in, like, forever, I ordered one. Just a basic with no add-ons. (It still came with lettuce and tomato and onion, and their "special sauce" which was really good: not spicy, and not applied too liberally). It was a delicious burger. It came with fries which I did not eat (they didn't look like anything special). I liked how the menu was varied and there were lots of options, and the prices were all very reasonable. Came here with my colleague on Pirate Pak Day. CTV was on-site. I got a picture with White Spot Mascot as well. It was super busy. When I finished my lunch there was a line up out the door. Pirate Pak Day is a pretty big thing in BC. Most people in Alberta don't like White Spot but here in BC, there are a lot more fans / supporters. The burger was delicious. It was a good deal because it came with unlimited fries and bottomless drinks. On top, it came with ice cream, coleslaw and most importantly the gold coin. Yes the chocolate gold coin. Service was ok. I can see the server running around like crazy. I didn't expect fast service. Food was slow but can be expected on Pirate Pak Day. read more

We had the Thanksgiving turkey lunch. The turkey tasted pre-processed and was very salty. The veggies were under-cooked. We asked for more gravy, and we got it. We asked to heat up our veggies more, and they brought us more that were cooked properly. The waitress was very supportive and attentive. We stopped here to grab a drink and a bite before Luzia the other night at 7:00pm. While it looked pretty slow inside, they made us wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. Eventually we got seated and needing a few moments to look at the menu meant sending away the waitress without our drink orders. I definitely blame ourselves for our slowness there, but when we finally got our drink order in it felt like the drinks took forever to arrive. Cue it being 7:25 and with Luzia starting at 8:00 we figured eating a meal was no longer an option based on how long it took our drinks to come, and how slow everyone else was getting their food orders. The table who got seated before us (we got seated around 7:15) didn't even have their meals by the time we left at 7:40 pm. Our waitress did mention she was new, and of course there is some sympathy there, but I guess just with our urgent need to rush, things didn't pan out the way we wish they did and we sat through our show hangry. The beer selection is alright and they had a discount $1 for all local draught. I got the DELICIOUS salted caramel brownie milkshake that did tie me over for a portion of the night. This is the best whitespot. Everytime I eat at this location the foods always good and so is the service. I know what you're thinking it's a chain and they're all the same. Honestly they aren't all the same you can really see the quality and effort they put in at this location. I've had some bad experiences at other locations. I know it's the cooks but, if the cooks are trained properly they would always be serving up the food like this location. The hamburgers are delicious patty cooked well not dry and they definitely add enough of their secret triple o sauce. The burgers are always tasty! We tried their new menu item the spaghetti bolognese and loved it! Super flavourful great portion and of course I have to have it with a classic spots Caesar salad! I went to White Spot for lunch with a group of 7 friends. Upon entering, it smelled like a typical chain restaurant (like Moxies, Kelsey's, or Swiss Chalet), which wasn't super appealing. It kind of smelled like cleaning solvent and stale air. It was pretty empty inside overall so it was easy to get a table. I don't typically eat fried food, and I have a gluten intolerance, so this restaurant wasn't the most exciting choice for me, but I managed to find SOMETHING that didn't involve deep fried food or wheat. I ordered the Cobb salad with grilled chicken instead of the deep fried buttermilk chicken. The salad and dressing was pretty good, but the egg was tasteless and the chicken was dry and charred. Not enjoyable. My partner got the fettuccini Alfredo with mushrooms and grilled chicken. He opted for the gluten free pasta (corn, rice). However the pasta wasn't fettuccini, it was penne, and the sauce wasn't reduced enough (super liquidy) so it ran right off the pasta pieces. Not appetizing. Again, his chicken was dry and charred. There were only a few mushrooms in the pasta even though it's supposed to be a mushroom pasta dish. Other people at our table ordered the chicken fingers and fries, fish and chips, wrap, and quesadillas. It all looked quite bland and beige coloured for the most part, without many fresh foods or veggies in sight, save from some lettuce and tomato salsa. The fries looked wilted and greyish instead of crispy and brown... a friend that had the fish and chips reported feeling extremely bloated and slightly unwell following the meal. The friend who got a wrap only ate half... and no one really complemented their food. We spent $44 on our (2) meals combined, which was not worth it overall. Service was great--so no complaints there. But don't come here if you're health conscious, dislike fried foods, or have allergies as I doubt they will be able to satisfactorily accommodate. Additionally, this "local chain" is a disgrace to "Canadian food." Cheap food and unhealthy cooking methods make for an experience that lacks taste and depth. There are literally hundreds of restaurants in Van that offer way better food for the same price (OR LESS!). My advice: skip this place altogether and opt for something more cultured. read more

I informed the server that I would only have drinks and he said it was fine. He forgot about me and attended to other tables, and I had to wave him down to get my bill. The bill was around $24 and I told him I had a gift card. He asked me how much was on the gift card which was unnecessary because gift cards functioned like credit cards, so all he had to do was to pass me the credit card machine. He did not know what to do with the gift card and I had to tell him to treat the gift card as a regular credit card. The staff should know that the gift card works just like a regular credit card. My sincere apologies. I wholeheartedly take back what I wrote in my previous review, saying "White Spot should just stick with Triple O ..." as they cannot do a good job with Triple O either. I went there yesterday and ordered "The Legendary". Their description on the menu was " traditional 1/4 lb. beef burger with our signature Triple "O" sauce & a pickle. That's it!", and they were not kidding. There was nothing else. Exactly how they described it. No cheese, no lettuce and no tomatoes, which was fine as I ordered it so I can taste the legendary patty without distraction of other ingredients. What a disappointment. It definitely did not worth my $12 at all. The patty was not bad as it was tasty and moist, but the sauce was not the same at all. It was just a gravy-mayo taste. I still remember going to White Spot and have a great time inhaling their burgers and milkshakes and being all happy with the food. What happened!??!
