Less than friendly experience. Super grumpy/ window cleaning guy asked for my mileage and then seemed put off/ didn't believe me and needed to check it for himself. They didn't ask me to turn on headlights & turn signals / to check them out -- turns out I have a headlight out! They checked off on my invoice that they checked the windshield wiper fluid, but it wasn't filled. Just a bad experience for $90. Maybe it was an off day for them? I want to thank the employees who helped my daughter when her car broke down in front of their shop. Not only did one of the employees check my daughter's car, after a couple hours of her waiting for the tow truck, several employees offered to push her car to a safe place. And when the employees were leaving, one stayed behind, waited in his car until the tow truck showed up. When he saw my daughter was taken care of, he left for the day. While I did not get a service done here, I can talk highly about the people who work here. My car went out on me and I got stranded in their parking lot. One of the workers came out to try and see what was going on, tested my battery and helped try and diagnose the problem. A few hours went by and the whole staff came out asking if I wanted help moving my car out of the entry way of the parking lot. About 2 hours after a staff member was still present (6pm at this point and they closed at 5) and wished me luck with my car. Today I go in and tell then I don't want synthetic oil and he says and I quote "we can't give your car a oil change with regular oil because it's against regulations " seriously! I told them I'd get it change somewhere else. This is truly disturbing since I've been a regular customer for so many years. I've even told my vast friend network about them. Today that ended. I don't know who is running this ship but today you losing many regular customers. I came away from getting my oil changed pretty impressed with all of the positives that other customers have listed; fast, efficient, professional - no pushing products, etc. I thought that all was good until I took my vehicle to another mechanic for a separate issue and in looking things over they reported that I put 2 quarts too much oil in and that I needed to be more careful; that this could really stress the engine. I hadn't told them prior to that appointment that I had the oil changed two days before and that I hadn't maintained the oil myself. Simple thing you might think, wrong. Disaster right from the moment they opened my hood. Your dipstick is stuck, I reply it will come out, as it has for 4 years now. The guy snaps it off and everyone says... Oh yea it happens all the time with plastic handled dipstick. Really??? I ask how are you going to get it out? Their reply, you will have to take it to a shop. Instead they try to say, you said it would come out. Yea that's because you don't know how to pull out a dipstick, ya think? $52.00 for the oil change, no apology, discount, offer to pay for the broken dipstick, car wash, nothing. Then to add insult to the whole thing, the guy close my hood with greasy hand and leaves oil print on my hood. What a crew. Was it worth my $52.00? Hell no. Somehow I always need an oil change around the time my sister asks me to visit her in Bellingham. I'm such a procrastinator! So I get into town and right across from her house we spot Master Lube. I pull up, ask if they can take my car and with a big, confident and friendly smile, a man takes my keys and says, "Right now? Sure! Give us 10 min." Without even enough time to find something to keep us busy, we sit in their waiting room decked out with candy machines and magazines. With at least 3 other people waiting I looked up at their "oil change in 10 minutes" sign and almost giggle. C'mon! 10 mins? Two mins in and a mechanic comes to notify me that my car (being new) requires a specific oil type that's more expensive. He just wanted to make sure I was aware before they continued. Ok, sure! And no more than 8 mins later my car is ready. In fact, they even did a light vacuum and washed the exterior windows and topped off the wiper fluid. So... I was really hesitant on how to rate this place. I went on my lunch hour to go get my oil changed. I have driven past this place for years and decided to give them a try. When I arrived I parked my car and went inside. I was at the counter for a bit before someone walked by and saw me then told me to pull my car up to the garage entrance. I gave them my name, told them what I was there for and went to sit in the waiting area. As I sat there waiting for my car I listened to one of the mechanics start talking about me when he was told that I had parked on the side of the building and not pulled up to the garage, he then referred to me as retarded. I just sat there unsure whether to just walk back and take my car at that moment or wait until it was done to say something. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but I was really affected by this mans comments. When my car was done and my bill was rung up I mentioned to the man about putting a sign up so people know to pull around and he let me know there was one on the side where I had parked. I hadn't even noticed the sign so I let him know that but let him know that conversations in the garage were heard in the waiting area and that I had heard the derogatory remark made about me. Granted he was so apologetic and I truly appreciated that but even know an hour later I am upset about it. I know I will get over it, but I only hope whomever was trashing the customer doesn't do that to someone else who has a short fuse. Will I go back? I am not sure yet. The absolute best service I've ever had at any oil change place in this whole country (and my cars have been around ;-) . From start to finish, everyone is courteous and efficient. Not only do they provide fast oil changes, they vacuum the interior as well. I currently have an old car with a lot of miles on it that I can't afford to replace. Last time I was in Master Lube was after a repair shop had done an oil change along with a repair. The guy who changed the oil spoke with me regarding the weight of the oil, as the other shop had chosen a different weight than what ML used. He explained why the other weight was better for my older car, but left the choice completely up to me--which, as a woman, I really appreciated. The guys also noticed a couple of other issues with the car (headlamp burned out and bad windshield wiper) and were able to take care of them as well. I checked online afterward, and what I was charged was less than what I would have spent to buy the parts on Amazon and then (try to) do the work myself. So yeah... Master Lube is tops. These guys are on a whole different level of service and efficiency. To start things off the entire infrastructure of their shop and building streamlines your oil change etc by having you pull up to the garage right away. I was greeted by a friendly man who asked me what type of oil I generally use and even asked me if my wipers were still working properly. I stepped out of my truck and was met with another employee who was behind my truck who informed me that my tabs were expiring. I had totally spaced on this and really appreciated it! After sitting and waiting for only like 5-8 minutes another employee came in and told me that they had swapped out my oil and even told me what it looked like, and that their was a light film. A nice piece of additional info. He then told me that my coolant was extremely low so they were adding more. He finished by saying that my transmission fluid was looking dirty and that Ford suggests switching that out every 30,000 miles and that there was no indication I had done that. (He was correct). I told him I didn't have the funds for that right now so instead of doing it without asking he told me that's fine. After finishing up my oil change another employee came in to check me out. He went over everything again with me and told me they put 4 quarts of coolant in my radiator but would only charge me for 2. So awesome! I paid a very reasonable price and was then greeted with yet another employee who told me that I should get my cooling system tested because it seemed like my coolant was leaking. He opened my hood and looked it over with me and seemed to honestly be concerned with my truck. Keep in mind this is my first time here ever. Incredible customer service! We bought gas down the street on our way from Seattle to Canada when our car wouldn't start. We suspected it had something to do with the battery because there had been corrosion and the car cranked slowly for the past few months. We tried to get a jump start but that didn't work. We checked Yelp and the closest auto shop was Master Lube. I didn't think they would help because they seemed to be primarily an oil changing shop. But my husband called and Rick, who answered, spent several minutes on the phone trying to understand the problem. We had planned to tow our car there but Rick instead said he would come to us! Super generous of him. In addition, he had to take three trips back to his shop to get supplies and parts. It turned out our positive cable end on the battery was fully corroded through and so no power was reaching the engine. It took Rick an hour to remove the old cable end because it was so rusted on. Finally he got it off and replaced it. We followed him back to the shop and he kindly reminded my husband to wash his hands so they wouldn't get irritated by the corrosion he had touched. Very thoughtful! Lastly, I did research while waiting and fully expected to pay a specific amount based on what I read online. Let's just say that Rick charged us considerably less. Really truly nice people. I do not want to specify exactly what my experience was with them, because there are a lot of greedy people who would take advantage, and then maybe they would be forced to stop being so nice and helpful. I will just say I am a single woman with a beat up old car, and on 2 separate occasions, with 3 different men, they did not take advantage of me or try to rip me off, they were polite and kind and helpful. In fact, the second time, they had just closed, and their stuff was already put away, but they opened their doors and helped me anyway. I cannot say enough good things about this company and the people who work there. I will definitely continue to go to them for service, and will recommend them to others. We need more good companies with good employees, like this one. I appreciate all they've done for me, more than they know. read more
