I had some work done by a shop thinking it was my transmission (it was under warranty) I got it back and something didn't seem right so I scheduled it for a oil change and had them look into why it was shaking when you idle and if It needed breaks in the front, well sure enough they found some lines leaking( going back in on August 12 to see if it is leaking)and a cord that is having issues I'm so grateful they know what they are doing especially when it comes to a jeep. read more

A few months back I was told that my brakes were bad. I said I would take care of it as that work is easy. That went over poorly and I was not sure why until I got home with $150.00 in parts and my brakes were just fine. I gave them the benefit out the doubt we all make mistakes. Went back yesterday because one of the parts they installed failed and was asked to pay almost an hours worth of a mechanics time for something that took 10 minutes. Literally 10 minutes. When I questioned this I was asked "What exactly do you want me to do for free". I didnt ask for free I asked for fair. Coming from a client that has spent a lot of money at your shop I would expect more that a smart comment. Jim is out for Jim. read more

So I had problems with my vehicle for several years, it would just wander when going down the road and it was a real pain to drive. I took it to 3 other well recognize able places in the county, they all told me there was nothing wrong. I spoke with Axton and we troubleshot the problems together, and they took what I was saying about the issue seriously and really did a great job helping figure out what the problem was. When they got into the repair they also checked the parts that could have also been impacted from part that had been rattling for a long time to be sure I wouldn't need to do something else right away, then they helped me sift through the findings and made it easy to know they were doing the right work. I'm no dummy when it comes to cars, I know these folks did the right thing and I will definitely go here again cause I appreciate their help making my vehicle drive right finally. read more

Had a minor shimmy in the front end. Called, talked to Kirk. When asked, I told him I got his info from a local senior center of which I'm a member. Told him I have only a disability income. Immediately quoted hourly rates. Didn't offer to drive the car, didn't offer to just put it on the rack and do a front end (not alignment) inspection, which nearly every front end place will do for free. Just hourly rates. Without even driving the car to feel if the problem is major or minor or what it even might be. I've noticed the shops out here are greedy, miserly, won't even open a hood without quoting a rate. Back in the Midwest, not nearly so much. A lot of the time people there will offer to at least look at it without quoting prices for 'diagnosis.' Big clue, 'diagnosing' a shimmy starts with driving a car and I'm not going to pay someone emergency room prices while they're driving my car around. Forget about that card hanging up in the senior center guys, looks like it might have gotten lost. But oh, if you want it put back up it'll be $90/hr to do that. UPDATE: I went to Les Schwab and they inspected the entire front end and brakes for FREE. They put it up ON THE RACK and took a half an hour to get it done. NO CHARGE, NO $90/hr. read more

I have never had a better experience with a broken down vehicle! My truck died while I was driving just down the road from Axton automotive. These good folks took my keys and managed to get my truck started and moved to their shop. They gave me a discount on diagnostics because I had a keen sense of what was wrong. They were quick, kind, and reasonably priced. Other than the warranty work on my newest vehicle, I don't think I'll ever take my vehicles anywhere else. Jim Jamkowski, and his Axton Automotive team, have taken care of our Element and Mercedes for several years. Element is well over a decade old and has about 200,000 miles on it. It's a reliable machine and Jim keeps it in tip-top shape. Jim has been Mercedes only mechanic, and it operates flawlessly! Frankly, I can't imagine another firm taking care of our automobiles. Really good mechanics are hard to find! I have had two minor problems with my car and both times it was repaired quickly and the repair bill was very reasonable. I am sure that they will be my "go to guys" if I ever have any other problems. Added: I have 2 Buicks, a 95 and a 98. Each time I have gone there the cars were quickly repaired. They will point out potential problem areas that could be repaired at a later date. If you want an honest hard working mechanic to work on your car this is the place to go. read more

DO NOT trust them under ANY circumstances! If you're broke down, you would be better off pushing your car than taking it here! I needed CV joints -boots replaced. I took it here and wish I'd read the reviews first. TWO WEEKS after Axton 'replaced' them, noises started again. I took my car to Les Schwlab and they said my CV boots need to be replaced. Really? I take it back to Axton and I don't say anything until my car is up on rack. I tell him why didn't you replace them? He yells at me saying that was never the job he never touched them. His worker pulled out the invoice and his demeanor changed. I got an apology and chalked it up to a mistake. But it was MY MISTAKE! As I drive my car away, the shocks in back ruptured. He didn't press the button before the lift. I have car towed to Les Schwab again and guess what? The CV boots STILL hadn't been touched. He oiled them AGAIN. HES A THIEF! He knows it and WHATCOM COUNTY knows it! I'm glad you're business is terrible. That way you can't hurt more people. What makes it even worse, he KNEW that I was in the middle of cancer treatment and he still screwed me! Karma is a b*tch Axton! read more
