My son dropped off his car for some brake work and the dreaded check engine light, and while the shop had the car, my son's ride didn't show up to take him home while the repair was being done. He was about to call an Uber and Marcus, the owner of the shop, personally drove him home! I've been taking my vehicles to Willands for a few years now and I love their business model and trust them with my vehicles. The service at Willands has always been great. Car was making a weird noise so took it to Willands for a diagnosis. They gave us a list of issues and $3,500 later we picked it up and drive 1 mile home. The very next morning the car was making an entirely different and much louder noise. We took it back and they told us we needed new brakes and calipers even though that was never in the original diagnosis list. They charged us another $1,700. No way was this a coincidence. Roy K. I live in Colorado and my daughter just recently moved to Washington; she needed her radiator replaced and I had her drop it off at Willands. The replacement work was fine but when she started on a road trip, the transmission cooling lines were not tight enough and she lost all of the transmission fluid. She had it towed to a nearby shop where the problem was discovered. The first thing they asked me was if I had had the radiator replaced. Long story short, we had to have it towed back to Willands for them to see the problem and rectify it (unfortunately, the transmission needed to be replaced). They took care of it and reimbursed me for the costs of towing, car rental and diagnostic at the other shop. I would highly recommend them. Call Eric if you need anything done! read more

Overpriced, dishonest and sends you deceptive mail. They overcharged me multiple times and after a electronic inspection they messed up the electronics in my car, and when I got in it in front of their shop, all my check engine lights came up and flashed at me (which were not on before). All they did was reset the error codes, and I had all kinds of weird electronic issues. read more

I brought my car in for a brake inspection due to vibration in the wheel and brake pedal when breaking (suspected warped rotor/s), an oil change, a chirping at idle, a new seatbelt and a bulb replacement. The oil change and bulb replacement they were able to take care of but that's a pretty low bar. They made some concessions on the price because they couldn't get the chirping noise I described. Glad they didn't bill that to me, but the vibrations are very evident with a little drive and even if they aren't there are tools to measure warped rotors. Maybe I just don't know enough to understand why they didn't use something to actually measure them like I wanted but instead they said I'd have to wait until it got worse and bring it back. After a long trip it's pretty serious so it's going to the Ford dealership for that I guess. The last thing was the seatbelt which again seemed weird to me. They kept saying they had to get the new seatbelt from Ford and that it was probably better to just take it to them. Again, ok I guess if you don't want to do the work fine. Overall just super weird having a shop try not to do work :/ Also lots of people not wearing masks which isn't super great either. read more

Don't even get me started on how awful this place is to go for your car. We made an appointment on Monday to take in it on Thursday AM for a gear wire (cost 30). On Friday after not hearing anything WE called and were told it won't be ready until Monday or Tuesday. We said okay fine we'll pick car up instead. Then he said no we'll fix it this afternoon. Come by later and were told its a 800+ payment because of all the work they did. I understand labor costs, but I didn't ask for an inspection of my radiator cap, let alone they said I needed 4 new tires, however if they really noticed I had JUST bought new tires 6 months ago. Don't even get me started on the fact they didn't notice the engine light has been on since the LAST time they worked on the gas filter. I do have to say though a lady called from management to my husband asking about our experience and he reiterated what I said and she'd talk to the owner. No response as of yet. Took car for oil change and ended up with idiot lights and messages on the dashboard. called and was told they were there when I brought in. Took to auto parts store and put on scanner that stated air intake sensors were probLen. When got home, looked under hood and found wire disconnected from air intake system and plugged back in. Must have been disconnected when checking air filter and not put back on. Cleared all problems except engine light Do not recommend because shop never offered to check problem without another appointment. Do not recommend this shop! Others told me not to go there and I didn't listen. Repeat DONT RECOMMEND!!!! read more

Do NOT take your car here - my car left in worse condition than when it went in. I took my Nissan Versa in to for engine problems and had to take my car back multiple times to fix the work they did. Ended up taking my car elsewhere to fix work they did and they refused any kind of refund on faulty parts. Do not take your car here, especially if you are a woman. I took my 2003 Chevy Avalanche to Willands for an issue with the 4wd. I researched this problem for over a year before taking it to a shop and came to learn it was fairly common with GM trucks. The most likely culprit was a bad wiring harness ($60 part). The second most likely issue was a bad transfer case motor sensor ($60 part). Third most likely issue was a bad transfer case motor assembly ($250 part). When I dropped my truck off I told them exactly what the issue was and what I had found in my research and that there were some TSBs issued by GM for this problem. Now I know they're the experts, but if I give you info based on some digging I've already done, why not use that as a starting point? I picked up my truck two days later and was billed $430. They had not fixed the problem, not taken one glance at the harness, told me my battery was bad and had to be replaced and that it was likely the source of the problem, and said it would be $700 to replace the transfer case motor assembly if replacing the battery didn't fix anything. First, my battery was only 18 months old and was a premier brand high quality battery. The battery has absolutely nothing to do with the 4wd problem these trucks have. Second, they never once mentioned that the problem could be with one of the less expensive parts and immediately jumped to the high dollar fix. They wanted to charge me $500 for the assembly and said it was that much because they would guarantee the part and installation. Please, that doesn't warrant doubling the price. They were very nice throughout the whole process, which is what kills me. I drove away $430 poorer with a new battery I didn't need and not a single thing done to fix my truck. I've never felt so ripped off by a shop and will never return to this place...would not recommended them to anyone. read more

Took my 2000 ford contour in to get a starting issue fixed. Cost 800 dollars, the part needed was only 200 dollars and the rest was random charges that don't make sense and labor. When the car drove out there was now AN EVEN WORSE PROBLEM. The car was misfiring on the 4th cylinder. I know cars and I inspected the spark plugs and wires. The wire on the 4th cylinder looked liked somebody had taken a screw driver to it and messed with it. That's right, DO NOT GO TO WILLANDS. They will cause more problems with your car in order to get money out of you. Luckily the wires only cost 24$ to replace. read more

This place is great. As a female that knows, really nothing about cars this place won my heart. I had to get my steering column replaced and the dealership said that it would cost me upwards of $700+, (here was less than $500) my dad told me to get another opinion and said that he has brought his vehicles in here for years and they're amazing. This was true, I didn't feel like the folks were talking down to me or trying to sell me anything at all, they just had a few suggestions on the print out. Everything was quick and orderly and priced right. They said that they had never seen the bearings of a steering column go out like they had on mine and encouraged me to save my receipts in case there was ever a recall on the part. I haven't had a better vehicle related experience. I had been at Pierre Ford in Seattle and was quoted over $1000 to fix my car, claiming that three parts NEEDED to be replaced or my car would not run again. I had insisted that only the ignition switch was broken, but they wouldn't listen. I decided to get a second opinion. I called Willand's, my family had been bringing cars here for years. Trent helped me over the phone, we talked about the problem, and he told me he couldn't give me sound advice without seeing the car. So I paid Ford $150 for their time, and drove my car up to Ferndale. Sure enough, I get a call the next day from Trent saying that after extensive testing, the only piece with issues was the ignition switch. He saved me $700 on that fix, and their work/part has a lifetime guarantee. I couldn't be more grateful. read more

My daughter recently had an issue with her car we couldn't seem to fix. My daughter took the car here for an estimate on what it would cost and it was an utter nightmare and no work was actually done..... Estimates are not free, they don't have published rates or published shop rates posted anywhere in sight and their mechanics get paid commission based on what the shop collects meaning they will find something wrong.... So to sum it up it cost us $120.00 to get an estimate of $380.00 for a $40.00 sensor to be replaced and $750.00 for a tune up not including other noted repairs such as brakes which are at 60%+ according to 2nd opinion. In my eyes I would avoid this place and just stick to your local dealer. They may cost you a little more but they are not going to make up repairs or charge for estimates without telling you. read more

They seem to be skilled and are very service oriented, however there seems to be a $500 minimum. What's with flushing the brake fluid, changing air in the tires, flushing windshield washer fluid? Well, maybe I exaggerate a little, but watch what they are proposing. read more

They have been servicing our vehicles since 2008, always appreciate their thoroughness and their willingness to work around schedules and even offer a loaner car. Took my truck in for some performance/battery issues a couple days ago. They got my truck in the shop right away and got everything fixed in a day. They fixed a couple of smaller issues for me that I had not even known about. Would recommend to anyone needing mechanical work. read more

I took my car to Willand's after a Ferndale resident's referral, as that's where my engine light started flashing. I called to ask if I could have the car towed there for them to source and correct the issue. Trent was very polite and responsive on the telephone. Because there was snow on the ground I told them to take their time, my colleagues had graciously been giving me rides to and from work. When I returned to collect the car Willand's had deemed "fixed" it cost me $280 dollars which they said was for a "deep cleaning and oil change" and that the engine light had "corrected itself" no test drive took place, they simply "ran it for awhile". This would have been great had it been effective. Half way home on I-5 the engine light returned and began flashing, again, running just as rough as previous to my $280 call at Willand's. When I rang Willand's back, they said I needed to have it towed, once again, to their garage and they'll try and diagnose it, again, because; "now it's probably going to be a substantial amount of work". Why they didn't diagnose it correctly the first time ($105 diagnostic fee) I don't know, why won't they correct their mistake, because they're unethical. I told them I didn't have a lot of money, but that's no reason not to properly diagnose it. Now I'm stuck, the holidays are upon us, my elderly mom in Bellingham needs transportation and my wonderful colleagues are understandably beginning to have "ride fatigue". I'll be looking for a reliable garage. read more
