Classy sports bar vibes. We sat outside on their porch which is an amazing space for a party! BREAKFAST BURGER - this was the best hands down! Gently stacked between our Sweet Sourdough Bun are a 4oz Homemade Pork Sausage Patty, American Cheese, one over medium fried Egg, Crispy Bacon, a 4oz Hamburger Patty, more American Cheese, and a second over medium fried Egg CHICKEN & BISCUIT WITH GRAVY - this was tasty, but dry Freshly baked Biscuit with a Spicy Fried Chicken Breast, Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, and an over medium fried Egg, topped with our Country Sausage Gravy

Mason's Grill, located on Old Jefferson near Tiger Bend, is known for its excellent hamburgers, friendly food service, and welcoming, casual ambiance that makes it a favorite in Baton Rouge.

Really like the updates and expansion that they have done! The light fixtures are beautiful and give the atmosphere a great look. I had the steak, eggs, biscuit, and grits. Unfortunately, the steak didn't have any taste. I had to use A1 which I don't like doing because I prefer a well seasoned, marinated steak. The biscuit was also really hard. My friend enjoyed her burger which included pieces of alligator! Our service was surprisingly quick given how packed it was.

The first time I tried Masons grill I was highly disappointed and swore I'd never go here again. My sister was in town visiting and she picked Masons. The meal this time greatly changed my opinion. We were sat fairly quickly and out server was very attentive. I ordered the Honey Jalapeño Wings and my sister had spinach dip. This was the second time I was trying these wings and this time it got me hooked. Those wings are so DAMN good! I couldn't even get a good picture of them..Fried perfectly and the wings are a nice sized and meaty. I will forever eat these wings now. The chopped steak was okay. The wings honestly stole the show. They are remodeling and had a nice bar area. Can't wait to see what it looks like when everything is finished.

So amazing! The adult grilled cheese was amazing. Get the onion rings. Might have been the best meal of my life x Impeccable service and the background music was just what I wanted for my age cohorts Ambience and service were out of this world fantastic. Ask for Caitlin.

Came here for brunch with a friend who recommended this spot. I'm glad she did! I enjoyed everything that I ordered and get food looked pretty tasty too. I got French toast as a side and eggs Benedict. It was pretty tasty. The staff was super thoughtful and attentive! Our waiter was very pleasant. The atmosphere in the restaurant was a mix of a brunch spot with a slight bar feel and there were tvs for watching sports. Nice relaxed vibe. Not bougie and not a hole in the wall either. A nice mix of vibes.

First time and I've fallen in love. We ordered the shrimp and grits (9/10), the boudin omelette (7/10), and the "jack'd up" potatoes (10/10). The shrimp and grits were perfection. I absolutely adored the shrimp and grits, perfectly seasoned and the shrimp were seared to perfection. The omelette was cooked so fluffy and was one of the better omelette I've ever had. I hate an omelette to be scorched and their's was far from it. NOW THOSE POTATOES!!!! Dude 10/10 I could've eaten a plate of just those potatoes. Our server was attentive and waited patiently while we struggled to decide what yumminess to partake in. Can't wait to go back.

This place is great! The place was packed but we were seated quickly and got our drinks and food quickly as well! They have breakfast and lunch availability- this is how I ended up with pancakes and lemon drop martini!!

Notes: 1) been here 3 times 2) good place to be 3) came for 50 cent wing Thursday back in the day Pros: 1) decent food 2) good service 3) interesting ambiance Cons: 1) some food is a little bland 2) service could be better with less customers Rating: 4/5 I haven't been here in a while. This is an older review. The wings were good for the price on 50 cent wing Thursday's. I did come here and got chicken and waffles and that was actually pretty good and worth it too. The wings all taste pretty good and for 50 cents at that time, it was way worth it. There really wasn't a lot of flavors for wings but it was okay. The service was good but it was kind of slow for the day. I think it was because of the wing special. When I came back later for the chicken and waffles, it was much better. The ambiance was okay. It's like a giant bar. It's hard to hear in it but there are plenty of TVs to view. Overall, I think I need to go back again. I think people should try it and see. It was good back in the day and if they have these deals then it may be worth it to revisit again.

We found Parrain's Seafood while searching for authentic Louisiana food and a good po'boy/seafood…read morespot before making our drive back home to Houston. We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

I had really been looking forward to trying Parrain's Seafood, but unfortunately my experience was…read moredisappointing. Our waitress, Kate M., didn't have the best customer service. She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

When did dirt become "seasoning." Unless y'all have invented invisible Cajun dirt seasoning. Customers do not expect to purchase filthy, dirty, cold, crabs from a company hailing an 'outstanding, legendary reputation as a top-tier local institution, highly praised for its exceptionally fresh Gulf catch and serving quality food.' When returning the crabs for a refund, the lady giving the refund trying to convince my husband to keep them dirty cold things said, "We sell crabs at room temperature. We don't sell hot crabs." Ya'll the receipt clearly says, "HOT CRABS." Did she not realize the infraction she admitted! She basically confirmed they commit food violations, not keeping food at proper temperature!! How about that? He told her to refund our money back. Cleanliness and proper food temperature matter and this is not the first time I have returned dirty, cold, CRABS, back for a refund. Your hot food portions also have shrunk considerably yet your prices had increased tremendously. People are paying more for less.
