We came in as a pretty big group so definitely grateful for their patience! We got two appetizers, Shishito peppers and spinach artichoke dip. They were both excellent. My entree was seared scallops, and boy was it good but also very very small. I didn't realize how small the portion was. I was quite disappointed, honestly I'd wish there was at least a little more even just the sides like starch, grains, or veggies... the cupcake for the dessert was just okay, the cake was pretty dry. We were looking for a place on a patio where we could bring our grand dog, and found Mason Jar Kitchen. We were able to make reservations but unfortunately, it started to pour right at the time we were going to leave. We waited until the clouds passed and headed out. The patio was covered with a tarp but not enough to keep out rain. We simply wiped off the table and chairs and had the patio to ourselves while the sun peaked out from the clouds. I started with a green apple pear martini. Yummm. Dinner for me was the French Compart Farms pork chop. It was delicious. The apple watermelon radish slaw was a nice addition for flavor and color. The PRICES! This killed it for me. The drinks seemed so measured that the drinks only half filled the glass. Food was good but you just felt a little ripped off for the price versus the portion size. The restaurant staff, cooks, and menu planners seem to be completely tone deaf to the needs of guests who are dining with children. Making sure they are attentive to taking drink and food orders on a timely basis to keep the service moving for hungry children, making child friendly food (why would anyone think serving dinner plate sized pancakes to young diners is appropriate...serving "silver dollar" sized pancakes, with appropriate proportions is much more guest friendly) that is delicious (cooking "scrambled" eggs to the point that they taste like and are the consistency of well worn tire treads, to the point that an 8 year who loves correctly cooked, fluffy, not overcooked, scrambled eggs, can discern that they are not cooked correctly), are seriously important to the dining experience for people who have children they are feeding. Well, we were once again amazed by the new selection of Mason Jar Kitchen during restaurant week. Often, we are disappointed with restaurants who do not change their menu for restaurant week. This place always changes it up to avoid being boring. My pot roast was done to perfection and very moisture and tender. My wife's burger was a little on the char side which was actually very good. Often times, burgers are forgettable like McD's for their immediate hunger urge. This one had an interesting raspberry jam sauce which made it extra good with melted cheese and tater tots. Decided to visit this restaurant after seeing good reviews. Upon entering the business the restaurant felt warm. We were seated and commented to the waitress about the temp being warm. She stated she had been there since 8am and it's warm due to the hot kitchen, and people coming thru the front doors. She claimed the air conditioning was working. She also told us that it was hotter in the kitchen. I overheard another customer asking a waitress if the AC was broke. They were told the same as we were. Feels to me that management was promoting their staff to say the same thing and to ensure the business stayed open. Another customer walked over to the thermostat and the temperature was 83! Then there was another table who asked for their food to go. We were sweating at the table and my daughter got sick afterwards due to the extreme heat. It would have been nice for staff to inform us of the AC issue and not falsely state it was working. Lots of customers were fanning themselves. I will never come back here again. All they had to do was own up to the issue and let the customers know of the issue prior to seating us. read more

My friend and I visited Mason Jar Kitchen & Bar on a Sunday early afternoon. There was parking right out front of the restaurant and due to the fact that it was a Sunday there was plenty of parking available in the strip mall. I was not expecting we would get a seat because this is the most popular time for brunch, however I was wrong. We got seated at a high top very quickly. The restaurant has a really fun atmosphere and lots to offer. There is a full bar, a pizza oven, a bakery, and a place to order Sebastian Joes ice cream. It was decorated really cute and did well displaying its name of Mason jar. I ordered the strawberry and chicken salad and it was delicious. I am not one for big, greasy breakfasts so a salad was perfect for me. It had just the right amount of dressing and the toppings were delicious. My friend got the tater tot hot dish and really enjoyed the meal. It came with a side of hash browns which we both ate. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive while also giving us enough time to look at our menu and chat. I am very excited to go back to this restaurant. read more

My personal favorite, for brunch, is their Biscuits and Gravy...I would easily put it up as one of the best in the metro area. Came here to meet friends for lunch and was not disappointed. Really want to come back for breakfast and dinner. Got a standard soup and sandwich meal for lunch with a turkey cranberry brie sandwich and chicken wild rice soup. Both were good, the sandwich had a little more brie on it than I needed, but was still tasty. Should have asked for a bowl of soup instead of a cup, as it was fantastic. I am not a big fan of fresh water fish, but this was excellent. Came with baby carrots and mashed potatoes. Only complaint was the carrots were on top of the potatoes and the fish was on top of the carrots. Makes a messy plate to eat and hides the colorful carrots. Maybe place the fish by itself. Im gonna give this place a 5/5. Here's why: The wait time was long but considering a Saturday, it was too be expected. Once in, the food almost came too quickly. I know that's a weird thing to say, but it was crazy how fast the food came out. The cappuccino was great. Very excellent and wish I could have had more!! My breakfast burrito was awesomely delicious. The guacamole and salsa were a tremendous addition. Absolutely tremendous. I was told by my friends that this was and I quote, "the best Bloody Mary they've ever had." Now, I know this next part is what everyone has been waiting for out of this review of mine... The Cinnamon roll: While a rather large cinnamon roll sure to appease the masses, I feel as though it didn't add much to the overall roll. The outside was dry but the inside was moist and good. Just tried to pre-order thanksgiving dinner... went to the restaurant to order, due to the fact I wanted to request some deviations. Waited 50 minutes for the manager (Apparently he is the only one who can take orders and field questions)... he was in a meeting and the host told me, "he cant talk now he is in a meeting"...so much for customer service...I left my number and departed. 30 Minutes later he called - I asked for additional white/breast meat as opposed to 50/50 balance of white -dark meat - response was "we dont do that"... I responded even if I pay more - still "We dont do that"... then I asked "can you do regular mashed instead of garlic mashed?" - response "we don't do that" - (I guess its difficult to leave the garlic out)... What a joke... ... was going to spend over $700 for a large family dinner.... Guess he didn't want my business.. Going to Byerlys / Lunds - same amount of food and significantly less... and guess what - they will happily adjust my order based on my request. read more

This was a nice place for a casual non-chain lunch or dinner. I was there at an odd time, around 2pm, so it was not busy and the service was good and quick. The menu had a wide variety, especially for breakfast. There were also some fun sharable things like a giant cinnamon roll that was pretty tasty. The cocktail menu was big and they had a delicious bloody mary. I'll have to go back sometime to try their breakfast and the breakfast flight of drinks which included small versions of the Bloody Mary, mimosa and coffee. read more

It was good, nothing to write home about. I had the iced butterscotch latte and the avocado toast, and my only critiques are the words toast and butterscotch. If it's toast, toast the bread or it's mashed avocado and lots of other toppings with poached eggs on of soggy bread. Flavors were good though. Five of us had dinner here, and all five of us had an excellent, tasty, well-presented meal. My seared scallops were done perfectly. The sweet potato risotto was good - the sweet potato pieces were a bit crunchy & could have been a bit more done, but the flavor was still good. Two of our group had the Bison Swedish Meatballs and said they were excellent. A pork chop and steak dish were both done perfectly. The wine selections are also very good and I especially enjoyed the Wine Flight, with 4 generous pours for $18. You can choose any 4 wines on the menu, rather than being limited to what they select. Hooray! We also had dessert. Two shared Creme Brulee and found it very good, one had Bread Pudding and it was huge as well as delicious (and not nuts, which this diner, allergic to pecans, really appreciated). My husband and I decided to try their seasonal Creme Brulee, which was Red Velvet. It was not good. First, they burned the sugar (I think because the color of the brulee was so dark they couldn't see it to know they were overdoing it), but the texture of it was far too solid and not at all creamy. HOWEVER, when our waitress asked how it was and we told her honestly, she offered us some cupcakes to take home as a "comp." I told her I am Gluten-free and she said "we have 2 GF options in our cupcakes." Score! So we took four mini-cupcakes home to make up for our dessert. That's a business that knows how to bring people back - and we look forward to returning. The restaurant, despite being in a strip mall, has a lovely layout and a medium range of noise. My disclaimer for this review is that I have only had their food once and it was for my COVID-19 Thanksgiving cheat. My rating of 5-stars only represents this holiday take-away meal. Because family gatherings are pandemic super-spreader events, this is the first Thanksgiving in about 20 years that I did not prep and cook a huge spread for a large group. Decided to make it easy on myself and take away a traditional Thanksgiving meal since there were only going to be 4 of us. We looked at many places in the Twin Cities metro area that were accepting take-away orders and decided on the Mason Jar Kitchen because their menu was traditional (The pilgrims were not looking for tea-smoked and fried turkey with soy-kale dressing and I wasn't either!), the price point did not break the bank, and I was able to pick up at a time that fit our needs. For about 1 US $Benjamin, I got enough food for 6 people that was tasty, packaged conveniently for reheating, and ready to go on time. The roasted turkey was top notch. Moist, well-seasoned and plenty of white and dark meat. The best part was it was already carved and ready to serve and it was clearly from a real turkey as the slices and chunks were all different sizes and shapes including the drumsticks. I was worried that it was going to be some institutionalized, evenly shaped, perfectly thin slices off of some processed rolled up breast breast meat that the kitchen was mass roasting but this came off a genuine bird, bones and all. Accompanied by a salad, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans and stuffing with sides of rolls, butter, gravy and salad dressing, it really delivered! I was glad to see that the place was crowded with kitchen staff and orders pouring out into the waiting cars in the lot while I was there. While COVID-19 sucks for a lot of reasons, I was very thankful to be able to help provide some business to this local joint and help their staff keep a job. In return, they fed my family and I very well! Since the food is really the thing, this was tough for me to have someone else make the Thanksgiving meal for me. There is nothing I like making more than a full turkey dinner and while I do think my turkey, stuffing and gravy is better, theirs was plenty good and achieved at much less personal cost and effort. The best part was that I did not leave a kitchen destroyed and there was no clean up after...meaning I got to nap sooner! The cost of this meal alone was probably less than what I spend in time and kitchen cleaning supplies to restore the typical post-Thanksgiving disaster! A final comment is that while picking up, I was able to peruse their everyday menu. Lots of small upgrades on standard midwest fare. Certainly a cut above most midwest cafe's and definitely makes my list for a visit to try something off the regular menu sometime. To the Mason Jar Kitchen staff, thank you for a meal well-done. I hope you got to enjoy some time with your families too and know that you did me a solid one yesterday in allowing me to spend it with mine. Hidden gem behind a Holiday gas station! Made from scratch is the motto at Mason Jar and it lives up to it. The lemonade was a perfect balance between sour and sweet. The 10,000 Lakes Pot Pie is the best I've had south of the Minnesota River--sorry Eagan Arms Public House, this one is bigger and fresher. The croissant like crust is crispy and flakey. The Minnesota wild rice adds a a hearty kick to a comfort food classic. No place is perfect so a bit of constructive criticism--the entrance is confusingly beneath the cupcake sign (there's a parallel bakery to the restaurant). Once I identified where I was to check in, I waited about 7-8 minutes even though there was plenty of seating and nobody was ahead of me. The patio was nice but there was dried/sticky residue on the chair arms and plenty of flies and mosquitos (screened patio, perhaps?). We were in town for a baseball tournament so we were unfamiliar with the area. Our 18 year old was in charge of choosing the eatery. Being that it was after 9 pm, our choices were a bit sparse and thank god they were or we may not have found this quaint little establishment. There is a late night menu that is a bit limited but there is definitely something for everyone. Was told we need to come back for the Walleye and that it is impeccable! We absolutely plan on it! Didn't seem like there was adequate staff for the traffic of people coming in. The lady that did seat me didn't say hello... just came up to me and said, "how many?" And sat me without saying anything else. Got a black coffee, which was good & I never had an empty cup as they were filling it throughout my visit - which I enjoyed. I got the breakfast quesadilla- it was like a cheese quesadilla with a sausage omelet inside. It was okay. Nothing spectacular that I would get again. My friend got their quiche (pictured after she ate half of it) that same with a salad. The salad seemed strange to have as a side for breakfast. Maybe fresh fruit would have been a better option??? Went for late breakfast early lunch on July 4th. First time here. I ordered the banh mi Sammy and the wife ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. The pancakes were not very good. Had an off taste of baking soda or powder. She took one bite and we had them returned and she got an order of toast. Food was overall ok, nothing mind blowing. The reason for the one star is that they charged us for the pancakes even though we took one bite. Most Restaurants would comp The dish that's being returned but not here. I'm not one to make a scene or complain but paid the full bill. The restaurant must be on hard times if they charge you for returned unsatisfactory plates. Our experience was just that an experience. We made reservations online for brunch at 12:30. When we arrived at 12:25, we checked in and they told us they would let us know when our table was ready. At 12:45, my fiancé got up and asked where we were on the list... they put someone else at our table. They sat us as soon as possible and ok, I can understand things happen.. it's brunch on the weekend we understnd it busy- they even comped us drinks. Well we then ordered our meal. I ordered a chorizo omelette with the sour cream (for an extra $1). They brought out a chicken omelette with no sour cream. I waited about 10 mins to find our server to talk to him. We ended up speaking with another server. She put in a speed request for the correct order. It was brought out. It's hard when you just seem to have everything go wrong.
