    Greek salad
    Amy W.

This place could have gotten 5 stars but missed the mark for me. It is exactly the kind of vibe and menu that appeals to me for a lunch...interesting sandwiches and salads in a pretty, open and rustic space. We came here for a late lunch on a Friday. We were going to split something, but ended up getting 2 entrees. I wanted to split so that we would have room for the hyped up bread pudding dessert, but we couldn't agree. Hubbs got the Greek salad, and I got the figgy grilled cheese and asked for it extra well-done/browned b/c lots of the photos showed the grilled sandwiches barely browned. (and almost nothing is more frustrating than a less than crisp grilled cheese with un-melted cheese!). The order took a little while, I assumed b/c of my "extra crispy & browned" request. But when it came out it was barely grilled on the outside (see photo) - Thankfully the cheese inside was melted. It was also pretty big -but dang it - why wasn't the sandwich browned?? The salad was good, interesting that it comes with very well-grilled (ironically) potatoes on top, which is unusual for a greek salad. Lots of olives too. I would like to try this place again - maybe for dinner, and save room for that special dessert!

Food was super delish- but unfortunately our first experience was not that great due to waiting for over 2 hours for our food. It was so hard getting in touch with our waitress and the manager I believe ended up having to serve us. So it was a bit unnerving at first as I felt like I had to fight to get status updates on our meals but everything ended up good after we got our food. I would definitely give this place another chance and go when it's not busy. What I can say is don't go during Christmas time as this was during one of the weekends where they had a Christmas drone show. I think for the future during a busy season maybe they should hire more staff or just close the restaurant and turn away people once they reach capacity so guests aren't left neglected and left hanging.

I like it here. I was super impressed with the customer service with ordering. I explained that I was a first timer. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Next time I will order the chicken salad plate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was quaint for a nice place to catch up with an old friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came here for breakfast and am glad we found this cute local place. The interior has wooden tables and gives off homey Southern vibes for their Southern and Creole food. The service here is great. We came at a time that wasn't very busy on a weekday so can't speak to how it when it's packed, but we were greeted with kind faces and received quick service. Now let's talk about food. The food does take a long time to come out probably due to a small kitchen. I ordered the Southern Benedict and my SO ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The Southern Benedict came with grits, pulled pork, Andouille sausage, a poached egg, and some hollandaise sauce. This would have been excellent if there had been more sauce and less pulled pork, but flavors were still decent. More sauce would have made it perfect. Grits were cooked perfectly. The Shrimp and Grits came with, well, shrimp and grits. It is cooked in a tomato based sauce that was a bit too strong in my opinion. It masked the taste and texture of the grits and shrimp.

Why 5 stars? Because the menu here is just ridiculous. --- --- --- When I am scouring a menu, I usually hone in on 2-3 things and then force myself to make a big boy decision. At Mason & Dixie, this did not happen. There were maybe 2 or 3 things I was NOT interested in, and the rest of the entire menu sounded like the best day of my life. While I absolutely could have gone for legitimately 10 different things, I ultimately landed on the pulled pork grilled cheese and the wife went with the brisket mac n cheese. They were both bangin'. For dessert, we couldn't decide between, again, ALL of the items, so we chose two: coconut cream cake and brown sugar pecan bread pudding. The coconut cream cake was just okay, but the bread pudding was stupid good. We were staying at Great Wolf Lodge, so with a sleeping kiddo back in the room, I ordered this to-go. The restaurant itself fits perfectly into the downtown Grapevine vibe. It's adorable. If we lived anywhere relatively nearby, this would absolutely be a go-to spot for us. And I would love to come back next time I'm in DFW!

Slow slow slow - been an hour and only ordered brie, 3 sandwiches, 1 salad and pot pie - not many people here - excuse was they said the kitchen is tiny - weak menu needs some work on content and timing. owner came out to apologize for the unusual slowness. nice lady. nice ambiance - pleasant servers - food was good - daughter and wife loved the pot pie.

Grown up grilled cheese - havarti and brie on sourdough with truffle oil (12/29/2022)

Finally made it to Mason & Dixie today! We tried yesterday but they were closed. The hours on Yelp are apparently correct, while their Google listing and even their website have different hours. Note that they do close between lunch and dinner! I believe they close between 3pm and 6pm. Parking can be rough. There is some street parking and there is a small lot in the back. Most of the spots in the lot are by permit only M-F. I have some mobility issues at the moment so this presented quite a problem. After a few spins around the block, though, we timed it as someone was backing out. There were 3 people working the front of the house and it seemed a little chaotic but it looked like they were handling things mostly ok. We stood at the front door for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us and then a few more before we were directed to a table. We started with their chips and salsa. It's not s salsa like you are probably imagining. It is more like a tomato relish. The consistency was a little watery for me, but the flavor was great. There isn't any spice, though, so if that is what you want you will be disappointed. I ordered the grown up grilled cheese, which included havarti and brie cheeses on sourdough with truffle oil. I know that a crisp toast is alluded to in the name "grilled" but I would have preferred it less toasted. It was good. Would I order it again? Probably, but there are so many other amazing choices I'd probably try something else next time. The sandwich was served with a cup of tomato basil soup. The soup was interesting and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't a completely smooth soup, which is what I am familiar with when it comes to tomato soup. I could taste the slight crunch of onion, and really enjoyed it. The soup was also much less acidic than what I've had in the part and I wad happy about that. The bread pudding. Would I get this again? Well, hell yes!! It was more than enough for 2 to share, so be aware of the size! The bread part was surrounded by a moat of custard and topped with a large wallop of fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of chopped pecans. Also of note - the lunch menu and dinner menu appear to be quite different so you may want to look at each when deciding what meal to have. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu!

Held my DILs baby shower at Mason & Dixie this morning. Could not have chosen a more perfect venue! Shannon was amazing in welcoming us & getting us settled, and took great care of all 15 of us! Food was delicious & perfect for the light & joyful morning. Thank you all for helping make this day special. Check this lovely place out! Definite favorite! Big or small groups...can't go wrong!

    Fried Green Tomatoes
    Dalia D.

First of all the place is the CUTEST. It feels like I'm in someone's living room/bar area. The food portions are HUGE so bring an appetite because the photos are misleading (in a good way!) So much good food, we didn't really have any room for dessert sadly. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, they're thick cut and huge! I had the meatball meatloaf. I could only eat 2 and it came out piping hot so be careful! We came during the week so it was quite. They can do small groups with the largest being possibly being six? I would call to ask if you have more people than that.

    Shrimp Louie salad

Very nice meal. Parking in back, French kitschy theme. Meatball meatloaf and Shrimp Louis salad ordered for dinner. Meatballs had a BBQ sauce over it with mashed potatoes plopped on top. Interesting taste, it was satisfying. The salad was excellent. Cherry tomatoes, capers, English cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, sliced radishes, & boiled shrimp with dressing. The salad was a hit!

The food was delicious! I wish the menu had a little more variety -We were dying to try the fried chicken in pictures, but sadly it wasn't on the menu. Some items were a bit on the pricey side ($13 croque monsieur & $25 pot roast), but the portions were big and the food was fresh!

    Chicken salad protein plate
    Marguerite K.

Many of you know that I practice a low carb lifestyle.. apart from steakhouses , it can be a bit challenging. I just got a protein plate Mason & Dixie and it's so large that I can barely eat it all. They have 4-5 varieties. . And I snuck in a glass of wine ( and tasted one GF cracker)

First off, a lot of small businesses & even big chain restaurants are struggling right now due to the lack of help. Be mindful & have grace. Mason & Dixie never disappoints! I absolutely LOVE their Tomato Basil soup! It's absolutely one of my favorites. Their Grown Up Grilled Cheese always pairs perfectly with the Tomato Basil Soup! I'd definitely recommend. Not only is the food delicious, made from scratch & love - the inside of Mason & Dixie is adorable & always super clean. You feel right at home. If you ever get to meet Beth (owner of Mason & Dixie), you'll just love her. She's super sweet & will always make sure you're happy with your experience/food.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.

The drink was delicious but took quite some time to be delivered. My husband got soda and lime and his came out quickly. Service at this point is a bit slow. The place is a bit loud and plays club music -this IS NOT a club. It is finer dining and you have to listen to the same beat over and over and over -not a fan! We were dining inside. I do believe the roof top is different. We ordered the warm goat cheese. It was served in a skillet and very warm. However the toast was soft and not crunchy or firm at all and cold. It had been toasted and had burn marks and was beautiful but then soaked in butter to soften and then very cold. Would not order again. My husband had Beef Carpaccio-he loved it-not my thing. For dinner we shared Lemon Butter Salmon & Shrimp $40 Blackened salmon and shrimp drizzled with a rich lemon butter sauce, served over fragrant saffron rice and grilled broccolini And we both did not like it at all. The saffron rice honestly made me gag and did not like the flavor. The salmon was dry and there wasn't even a hint of any lemon. The shrimp was good and broccolini was delicious. So for $100 we left hungry and had mediocre service. We will go back for roof top seating but never again indoors

After noon, you can expect the crowd to significantly increase and it will become busy. We ran into that, towards the end of our visit. With the increase in traffic, it was nice to be tended by more than one waiter. I didn't think about it then, but I would have loved to tip the second person, as well. When going to Postino's, I always try to get something new and they never fail to impress. Drink: The Mockingbird (Mocktail) - bright pineapple, a touch of Italian orange, and toasted almond bitters. This was very good and is something I'd get again. The Board: Brie, Apple & Fig Spread - this is a repeat for me, I absolutely love it. The apples are always fresh, crisp, and juicy. This is so perfect! Prosciutto Di Parma, Fig & Mascarpone - another repeat, I can't go to Postino's without having this on my board. Mushroom & Mascarpone - If you're a lover of mushrooms, you'll enjoy these little bites. I did notice, we did not get the green onions this time around and I was okay with that. They were removed, due to the current outbreak. Great thinking, Postino's! Salami & Pesto - This always closes the board for me, I love this combination. Although, I will add, I think a different type of salami would work best with this combination. West Coaster Panini - (Smoked ham, smashed avocado, arugula, roasted garlic aioli, pickled red onion, Calabrian chili, feta cheese. For my side, I chose the tomato soup, my goodness, was it good. I must say, it is the best tomato soup, I've ever had. It was creamy, packed with flavor, and complimented my panini so well. Also, they add cheese tortellinis to the soup as well. So, good! This was very delicious, the ham stood out and wasn't muted. However, I think I will get another bread next time. I chose the focaccia, it was a bit too much bread for that particular sandwich. I will admit, it doesn't beat their prosciutto and brie panini; that sandwich is divine. Hot Donut Dots - (House made ricotta donut holes with salted butter chocolate, caramel and vanilla glaze dipping sauces.) These are superb and packs a lot in one bite. The cream in the middle is so smooth and full of flavor, but is very heavy. I'm not a cookies and milk person, but this dessert craves a tall glass of milk. They were hot, fresh, and I appreciate the fact that even when fried, they were not swimming in grease. The vanilla dipping sauce was my go-to, of the three sauces. They did well with this dessert, it hit all of the bases. Postino's is a great place to visit with friends, a date, or even as a solo-day/night out. They are one of my top 5 restaurants and I don't see that changing, ever!

My friend had some dietary restrictions and she was quick to ask about them, and make needed modifications without any issue. Extremely kind, and fun to be around, she had some great suggestions for items on the menu. The environment was definitely more relaxed, however, the pace was definitely picking up when we left. As I mentioned we were there right before people seem to be getting out of work, and it seemed like a lot of people are making their way and to enjoy an evening meal or happy hour. We easily got a spot in front, however, if there happens not to be any available, there's lots of parking behind Lush on the opposite side of the road.
