Her artichoke and goat cheese sandwich was flavorful and creative. My bbq chicken sandwich had good flavor but not overpowered by sauce and nicely complimented by the purple onion an cilantro in it. My iced tea, in a mason jar, was excellent tea an in no need of sugars or other sweetening. While waiting for our sandwiches there was complimentary chips and salsa. Quaint little place for soup, sandwiches and salads right on Main St. You can go wrong with any of the grilled cheese sandwiches that are perfectly toasted, melty and delicious. The sausage gumbo was chocked full of meat and very flavorful. We ended with the bread pudding that was warm and so scrumptious and topped with what tasted like home made whipped cream. This place was a lucky find for us. The ambiance was old style southern and quiet. Very clean. Our server was awesome (sadly I can't recall his name), he was friendly and attentive. And the food was awesome. We had the following food choices for our dinner: Appetizer-Queso Blanco and Salsa, Salad-Wedge Salad, Main Meal-Sunday Pot Roast Everyday, Dessert-Brown Sugar Pecan Bread Pudding with Butter Bourbon. All of these were exceptional, flavorful and well made. The pot roast was deelicious. As for the dessert, I am definitely not a Bread Pudding person, but my wife convinced me that we had to try it. And OMG, it was so good. I am glad that we ordered it. BTW, if you are going to order this item, make sure to order it early as it takes some time to prepare. Just had the most ah-mazing meal at Mason & Dixie tonight!! It's an adorable location and we've dined there on multiple occasions for yummy brunch and lunch experiences but this meal was over the top in every way! Service was also fantastic and my family enjoyed every bit of our meal - from the figgy Brie appetizer, to the bottle of wine and then the piece de resistance - whole Branzino stuffed with lemons, fresh herbs & capers. All of the staff had smiles on their faces, very welcoming and warm. Bordeaux Sauce was excellent and those buttery mashed potatoes...mmm... I'm getting by hungry again just thinking of the food here. Now the best for last...the brown sugar bread pudding... So Delicious!! Worth the wait everytime. It's also enough for at least two people if not more as it's a sizable portion although you may not want to share after your first bite. I also enjoy their coconut cake as it reminds me of a tres leches. And it tastes of natural coconut not sunscreen like so many other coconut flavored foods. I don't like posting negative reviews, but I just can't let this one pass. Yelp has most always served us well, but I have NO idea how this place has 4.5 stars (as of this review). We were duped... Cute place in a great location... but that's where it's stopped. It was Sat, Mar-11 at 6pm. You would think food would be top-notch for the Saturday night service. However... 1) half the menu items on their website menu were not available (the $15'ish sandwiches, we only had $18+ items available.... 2) drinks were from a can.... 3) I witnessed our waiter open a bag of chips (judging by the orange top of the bag, they appeared to be On the Border, and tasted as such), 4) queso was not creamy/dairy but gritty and room temp, 5) salsa was okay but likely from a jar, but observed it being ladled from a plastic storage container, 6)and then there was my meal.... I was hopeful with the Meatball Meatloaf... and it was "okay", but was basically medium cooked meatballs with ketchup, melted cheese, and mashed potatoes on top.... The bowl was hot, but the center of the dish was warm at best. Nothing to write home about... I believe this place has lots of potential with the decor, but that's the best part. Just in town for the weekend and met a friend for brunch here after finding it on Yelp. LOVE this place! We went for lunch, I got a chai latte and the shaved brussel sprout and goat cheese salad while my friend got the pimento cheese sandwich hot with the bacon and jam. We then got the bread pudding for dessert. We both enjoyed every single thing! I even packed my leftovers and took them to the airport with me because I wanted to eat them later. I haven't been here in 3 years because initially I felt they were overpriced and rude. Well last night my friend convinced me to give it another chance and I still have the same opinion as I did 3 years ago. Our bill came out and it was more than the menu price. When we inquired about this discrepancy we were told the door said they charge a 3.99% CC fee. We pointed out that there are two entrance and we came in the back one where no such sign exists AND it was not conveyed to us by the menu or waitress. The manager was very rude especially when we asked where the sign is. FYI the sign is teeny tiny ANd not even on the door. This is terrible customer service and I will never go back. ****BEWARE**** This restaurant charges a 3.99% fee for cash/debit purchases. They won't tell you this upfront, but have it posted on a tiny 5x5 sign next to the front door, where the casual tourist will never see it. Customer service here is an afterthought. We had a few different issues with our bill, and the apparent owner couldn't be bothered to even get up to help us. The food is not bad on its own, but given the general lack of service, I would go to any of the other exceptional restaurants in Grapevine before going back to this place. read more

Our server was very friendly, but, service was very slow. Not only did I have to ask for a drink refill 3 times, I never got my straw. We ordered the fig Brie. It was good but they didn't provide enough baguette pieces. The server offered to bring us more, but failed to inform us that it was an extra fee. One person ordered the pot roast. The flavor was good, however, the piece of fat that was served was half of the portion. The biscuit that came with it was delicious. I had the half chicken salad sandwich and half egg salad sandwich. Walking in we were immediately greeted by the warm staff and seated immediately. For drinks, my wife and I had their amazing mango peach tea. We ordered 2 options off the kids menu for our children, the wife had the fig panini and I ordered the Cuban panini. Both were truly awesome with homemade bread and came very quickly after we ordered. We normally don't order dessert but decided to order some banana pudding to split between all of us. The dessert was truly fantastic and I'd highly recommend it. The wife was already trying to justify how we could come back the same night for dinner, before we even paid the bill. The blueberries were a few days too old, the "fresh" whipped cream tasted an awful lot like Cool-whip, my daughter loved the waffle by itself with the strawberries. We arrived on a weekday, right at 11am, and took note that the restaurant was completely full by 11:45. The decor inside is as southern farmhouse as the name suggests. From to the flavored iced tea served in mason jars with colorful straws to the beautiful plates and the floral aprons the servers wear. Even the glass pitchers they refill your drink from. They've thought of everything and it really makes the experience one to remember. After you order, there is a little plate of chips and homemade salsa brought out. It was a nice and unexpected bonus. We got sandwiches, but the salads looked amazing. And the desserts! For the love... get the coconut cream cake. Scratch made coconut cake soaked in what appeared to be a combo of sweetened condensed milk/evaporated milk and topped with whipped cream and shredded coconut. This rich, moist cake was like coconut cake and tres leches had a baby and it was the pertiest baby you ever saw. It was THAT good. I'll be back. Man, I wanted to love this place. The service was just abysmal. Beautiful place but the service just didn't warrant the price of their menu. It seems they're trying to be more than capable of. We had a small group of 6 and a all just sat in awe of how bad the service was. The food was good but they nickel and dime you. Overall, I think the prices were too high for such subpar service AND they charged me more than the menu showed. I told the waitress that they should probably update the menu and she just thanked me. I'm impressed time and time again at M&D's creativity, fresh ingredients, and innovative thinking. As my previous review said, the grown up grilled cheese and tomato soup is a gift from Jesus himself, it's as if they've perfected the art of not making it too thick, but not too thin either, with the perfect amount of spice. There is something for everyone here, including a $5 wine happy hour all day, soups, salads, sandwiches, and their famous home made salsa! Finally pulled up on Mason and Dixie over the weekend! It was a beautiful fall afternoon so myself and a friend sat on the patio. We enjoyed some delicious fall carrot soup. It was absolutely savory and satisfied my appetite for a light lunch. My friend also ordered a sandwich on the side which she seemed to enjoy. Love mason jars the drinks come in and the entire inside is very cute and quaint with the décor. It's very "ladies who lunch" inside and reminded me of days when I used to go antique shopping with my mom on the weekends. Great spot to bring girlfriends but I absolutely recommend you come early. This place gets packed for lunch especially during event weekends which Grapevine does have often. However there is plenty of parking along the street. FIVE STARS for the $5 wine happy hour ALL DAY EVERY DAY. The goat cheese artichoke panini was also BOMB. So, so, so good. We ordered the brisket grilled cheese on the waitress's recommendation but found it to be very underwhelming. More underwhelming was the wait for the food. We were having a ball sitting outside people watching and sipping $5 wine so the time passed quickly, but it was quite shocking to look at the clock and realize it literally took AN HOUR AND A HALF to get the two sandwiches we ordered. The food was delicious, the ambiance was lovely and Shannon could not have been nicer, more accommodating or done a better job. The food came out quickly, and Shannon was hospitable and made us feel at home. Our entire group of 14 could hear each other, which is hard to find.
