By far the worst dining experience I've ever had. Came with a large group of friends for a birthday dinner. We made reservations in advance and the staff did not make the proper arrangements and we did not have room to sit within the restaurant. We had moved to the outside patio which had plenty of seating and the waitstaff begun to take our orders. I did notice that the waiter that I was speaking to did not really seem to have an upbeat attitude and seemed visibly annoyed that she had to deal with us. I did not think much of it as I tend to be sympathetic to people working within retail/food business. Food begun to come out and I was waiting for my burger to come out. I saw other people within my group getting served while my food did not. After an hour, it appeared that the staff did not even place my order or forgot about the order whatsoever while still acting annoyed that they had to deal with us. I gave up on getting my burger and notified the waitstaff that I wanted to cancel my order as I did not want to wait another hour to get my food. I got my tab (which was only for a soda and a burger that my girlfriend had ordered) and chose to not pay a tip as the service was non-existent at best. Upon giving the waiter the check, he then proceeded to open the check and openly complain to another one of my friends that I did not pay the tip. That was extremely unprofessional and only solidified that this place, along with its employees, does not know how to run a proper restaurant. I ended going to a low-end burger joint that was close-by and was refreshed that I had at least someone who knew what customer service was. read more

This place is really awesome! The food is a little expensive but so well done that I'd say it's totally worth it. The entertainment is nice and it's got great air conditioning so you are comfortable. The drinks are fantastic and the service is amazing. My friends and I love this place! read more

I love mashd! They have awesome mixed drinks and some great food. I stopped going since they took away the bbq chicken cylinder pizza but the pizzas are absolutely delicious. They also have some marinated peppers and onions, they're honestly sooo yummy. The spinach dip is pretty good too. Definitely try it out sometime, especially during happy hour. Maybe I'll return to try some new things but I wish they'd put that damn pizza back on the menu lol. Oh and props to them for using environmentally friendly straws! read more

So the food was pretty good I must admit. However, after our meal was over, our service was nothing short of insulting. I traveled to San Antonio for a business trip and while on business, I am required to use a tax exempt form. When informing the wait staff that my meal needed to be tax exempt, they got their manager to come over. The manager very aggressively came to the table and after giving me a runaround, finally in a roundabout way told me that he didn't believe my tax form was legitimate. He had no grounds to assume this and I was completely shocked that a place this seemingly classy would treat me in such a way. Afterwards I told him to include the tax and I'd take care of it later. Surprise, my card was "declined". After calling my credit card company, they told me it was run as a "test" to see if it had funds on the account. He decided he'd better check again to see if I was lying or not. After explaining this to the waitress, she begrudgingly ran the card again and it went through with no issue! Just ridiculous. So if you want to be called a liar and a thief, this is where to go. If not, go elsewhere. read more

This is our absolute favorite restaurant! We always bring colleagues, friends and family here when they visit from out of town. My brother in law from College Station absolutely LOVES this place. Anytime he is even close to SA he makes a special trip to Mash'd. So far we have liked everything we have gotten here but some some of our favorites are: bulgogi tacos, meatloaf and the fried chicken. I haven't been for brunch, but I can't wait to try that next. read more

I love this place on a Sunday Funday. There food is always yummy and there drinks are not for the weak. I have tried different plates and have never been disappointed. Love enjoying the patio on a beautiful day. Just know if you don't arrive early you will be waiting. I am not the only one who loves this little spot. read more

Really like the location here, right around the corner from a big parkin lot. The food is always super good and extremely filling. We don't really know much about moonshine so we tired a flight (by recommendation from our waitress). Super strong but some odd flavors in there too. Enjoyed it but probably wouldn't have it again as it was very alcoholic. I would highly recommend the Detroit style pizza, which is large enough to be an appetizer for many or a meal for 2 people. read more

Such a great brunch! Hosted a baby shower brunch and everyone had a great time! The outdoor patio was just perfect for our group!

Amazing food! Beautiful display, kind staff let me unplug a light fixture and plug my phone in since it had died. The food was not only mad incredible but it was pretty and appealing to the eye. All of my visits have been pretty pleasant and I don't have any major complaints to give. Bathrooms are always clean, and service has been more than wonderful. There's so many options of things to eat, so you don't have to worry too much about picky eaters when going on group outings. Tables are clean as well as dishes. This has to be one of the nastiest dinners I've ever had. If you do eat here stay away from the crab and shrimp volcano. It is beyond sweet for a dinner entree and almost impossible to eat, and believe me I tried and failed. Don't bother sending something back for something else as they will still charge you for the sub par item and just give you a voucher that can only be used on a return visit. That meal was so bad that voucher will never be used. I'd suggest eating elsewhere, and if just going for drinks and not a moonshine lover there are way better bars over in that same area. This used to be a decent place, not sure what happened. read more

I was visiting San Antonio recently and happened upon this gem! I was staying in the river walk and was tired of overpriced food and drinks. Mash'd was a short drive out of downtown. They offer reservations, which is a plus because most brunch spots had a long wait. We had a carafe of blackberry mimosas - they also had traditional and blood orange. If you are new to TX be aware you are going to need to order biscuits and get food on the table before your alcohol is served. Your waiter will already anticipate you not liking the biscuits (even though they are good) and take them off your check. After brunch there is a fantastic movie theater and shops in same complex to enjoy. Great experience!! read more

In this case, "Mash" means mash ton, as in fermentation, not mashed potatoes. Think of this place like a gastro pub, but with moonshine. They carry about a half dozen different brands, each with about a half dozen flavors, making for an extensive tasting list ranging from "plain" to fruity to whiskey-esque spice. You can construct your own flight or take one of their suggestions. As for the food you can't miss the twice fried chicken and biscuits smothered in their "Chuck Norris" gravy, which is actually a bright red/yellow with hints of pepperoni and paprika. For something a little lighter, the beat salad comes with goat cheese, avocado, and a bright, citrusy vinaigrette that pairs perfectly with the sweet root vegetable. While we didn't order it, we did see a sinfully enormous chocolate cake at another table that even two people couldn't finish, despite their rolled eyes and moans of appreciation. This place was fine except for a few things. The food was good but the atmosphere is not for anyone who wants to relax with a nice meal and a drink. I hate it when I have to yell across the table to carry on a conversation. It is loud with people and the music. Too much like a sports bar for me with multiple tv's everywhere. It must have a very active bar scene/happy hour and that's kind of what they are going for here. My Avocado Bomb was really good and their fries are the best! Service was great and the manager checked on tables making sure the customers had everything they needed. That is always a plus for me at any restaurant. Other than the super loud music, I also didn't care for the newspaper-like menu which is awkward and not that easy to read. Too much going on there. Otherwise, you won't be disappointed. This is mostly a review of the Moonshine varieties served at the Mash'd, not of a place itself. I personally do not like, nor drink sweet liquor, so I ordered all the varieties of non flavored moonshine. These are my personal tasting notes: 1. South House Original moonshine: bad vodka taste, also reminiscent of some bad Texas brewed gin I had in the past. That bad gin was named something like Lone Spur - disgusting, avoid. 2. Backwoods Original moonshine: cheap vodka 3. Midnight Moon Original moonshine: average mild tasting vodka 4. Stillhouse Original moonshine: flavor is in between cheap tequila and vodka combo 5. American Born moonshine: best non-flavored moonshine I had at this place. Reminds me of a young silver tequila. The only non-flavored moonshine I'd recommend here. read more
