Today my Husband and I came to SA for a couple of days to house hunt, we're looking at moving here in the area by Sept. We stopped here for a break and let me just say the name itself caught our attention! We sat at the bar and our bartender was Alex, we freaking love her! So sweet, interactive, informative of the menu, loved loved loved her character and how she was so inviting! We had the Legit- Guac for our app and 4 different signature cocktails. Favorite new bar! We live near the La Cantera/ RIM area where there is no shortage of swanky bars and restaurants as the area has rapidly expanded over the years. That being said, competition is fierce and it's the subtle nuisance that can edge you out of the running for those entertainment dollars. Mash'd is a brilliant new concept as moonshine has broken free of Appalachia and come into the mainstream. This is not your Uncle Jebediah's rot gutt. The infused moonshine varieties along with the white lightening flights are a nod towards fine spirits that are crafted to be sipped and savored. I have been here several times, and have never been disappointed. I was recently there this past Saturday for St. Paddy's day, and I could not be more pleased. This place has stellar food and great drinks. The ambiance is always very laid back and great for groups. The wait staff is incredibly attentive. Our server was Michaela, and I cannot rave enough about her!! She was friendly, helpful, attentive. It was a group of us, and even when we asked her 50 questions, she always had a great attitude and with a smile. Our experience was that much more awesome, because of her. Okay... so I have been to this restaurant with hubby many times and really never had an issue until Brunch... yes the place was packed and orders took a bit longer to bring out, but I was disappointed when my French Toast was cold!!!! I asked the server if this was how it was supposed to be served since it's a unique eatery... she was so sweet and said no and apologized. The manager comes by a few minutes later and offers to "warm it up"!!! All I could picture was putting my French toast in a microwave!!!! He didn't offer to get me new plate!!! Only to warm them up!!!! I thoughtfully said no...very disappointed in offering to "warm it up" makes me wonder how other dishes are made in house... We came here for dinner on Saturday, St. Patty's day for the first time. We have been here several times for brunch and their food is amazing. Every visit they've never disappointed... with their food, service, and atmosphere. For dinner, we had the BBQ chicken pizza and the fried chicken sandwich. Both of which were out of this world! And I will say they do NOT skimp you on the chicken. Michaela was our waitress and she did a fantastic job. Right off the bat she was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The name suggested it was potato everything and while I like potatoes ok, it sounded like a country cooking type of place. I was wrong! They have plenty of tater tots and mashed potatoes sure, but other offerings too. I ordered the K&Q omelette even though I wasn't sure about quinoa inside omelettes. However it was genius and so delicious. Just wish it had more avocado because it was more of a garnish (in other words not enough). The mimosas were priced just right too. A group of 6 of us went to Mash'd on Saturday around 11AM for a friends birthday brunch and right after our 5k from the Super Run. The birthday girl had a reservation ahead of time which is a smart idea for a weekend brunch at this place because boy does it fill up fast and after having brunch here for the first time I now see why and I have to return. But dont let that stop you from coming in during brunch if it wasnt for the rain Mash'd has plenty of seating inside and out especially for large groups such as our or even larger. We started off with the carafe of blood orange mimosa's because we were waiting on 2 other people from our party to arrive and I was glad that our waitress suggest it because out of the 4 of us that were there we each got 2 4oz drinks from the carafe. Then once the rest of our group arrived we had another round of the carafe this time we went with the blackberry and I have to say they both were tasty and I would say they are both worth ordering. The only reason why I'm not giving Mash'd a 5 star rating is due to one of the girls at our table ordered a bloody mary and unfortunately it took quite a long time for her to receive it to where she had to remind or ask the waitress about her drink. Next we decided to place our order but before we did we did have some questions for the waitress about the selection and it was refreshing to see how knowledgeable she was about all of the items on the menu. I decide to go with the unholy one and oh boy I could eat that all day! It had the right consistency of hearty and sweet with the french toast and fried chicken and the jalapeno maple syrup that comes with it is delicious and not overly spicy though I could handle a little more spice. The rest of the group ordered the chicken and biscuits (x2), french toast, southern egg fries and K&Q omelet and let me tell you they all looked amazing. Though the chicken and biscuits is one of the most popular items ordered per our waitress I really wouldnt mind going back and only having the unholy one it was literally that good! Overall it was a very good brunch experience especially for the Rim area and how crowded this area in general can get on the weekends that I cant wait to return and take my husband to try some of their yummy brunch offerings. read more

Did a group lunch based on a recommendation from a co-worker, however came away unimpressed. While I'm sure the drinks are outstanding (and may entertain going back for cocktails), the food wasn't impressive. I ordered the Shepard's Pie, and while the presentation looked positive, the meal was loaded with enough salt to to put someone with high blood pressure into cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, the other dishes received the same consensus within the group - too much salt. This place Rocks!!! We waited 15 minutes to sit cause they were a little busy, within 2 minutes of waiting a server approached us for a drink order which has never happened to me before. From the start I was impressed. Kind of has a west coast vibe too it which is different for me but it was pretty cool! The food was phenomenal.
