Will return! Went here Friday night with a date and despite the 45-minute wait, we really enjoyed the experience. We ordered draught beers and a shot of moonshine to start off the night. I loved that they had several craft beers on tap to choose from. The shot of moonshine was a little intense for me, as it wasn't flavored. Next time I'll try one of the infused kinds or one of the mixed drinks which all sounded tasty. While waiting for our entrees, we were pleasantly surprised with mussels on the house. They had a little kick with their buttery goodness, and were an excellent starter. For dinner, I ordered the grilled lemon shrimp with pineapple, rice and brussel sprouts. The shrimp was flavorful and well cooked, grilled pineapple delicious. Pairing them with the sprouts was a pleasant combination. The serving size was perfect for me--only a little leftover rice. My date ordered the Mash'd Meatloaf and loved it. The meat wasn't dried out or dense, which are common risks you take when typically ordering meatloaf. Not your mom's meatloaf! It had a nice serving of sauce and came with mashed potatoes. Overall the ambiance was relaxed and welcoming, everyone around us seemed to enjoy themselves and the outdoor space looks like another nice spot to dine. This place is the bomb. First of all, the service was great--Host stand and our server. Initially, we wanted to eat inside but decided the outdoor patio had a nice ambience so we sat outside. They provided us with the brunch menu but also said they served lunch so I asked for the lunch menu. I ordered the cheeseburger and I was impressed. All I could think about earlier in the day as I was running the Spartan was that there was a nice fat juicy hamburger waiting for me at the finish line. This place did not disappoint. The Shepherds Pie was floating in grease and the taste was not pleasing in my opinion. So, I ordered the meatloaf... The meatloaf tasted okay but it had large chucks of white bread that made up at least 1/4 of the meatloaf size once I picked it out... The salad my husband ordered was amazing... This place exceeded my expectations! Great pineapple bomb drink, very flavorful and strong. Felt like I got my money's worth. I had the k and q salad and it was tasty and healthy. My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner. Our drinks were good but kinda strong, I had the moonshine mule drink with cherry lime flavor and my girl got a blackberry moonshine drink on the rocks. Mine was great but hers had a powerful kick. (I get that moonshine is a strong alcohol). The service we received was awesome! Our waitress checked in with us constantly when she saw we needed the attention. We ordered the crab and shrimp volcano appetizer. For the $14 we paid for it, there was very little amount of shrimp and the crab got lost in the mayonnaise rice mixture at the bottom of the dish. I wouldn't order it again. We shared the 1lb king crab/shrimp boil with Cajun butter seasoning, which was $27.( we were told that you had to pick a butter flavor, but regular butter flavor is not an option). This is a great option to split for two very hungry grown adults. It was a good amount of food for us to split. Cooked very well( think I got one over cooked shrimp in the whole boil) and the potato and corn on the cob were cooked well too. All in all good local place for strong moonshine and great boils. Absolutely loved this place! Was in San Antonio for work and some co-workers and I had lunch here at the beginning of the week. (Some of my party went back the very next day because it was so good!) We had a variety of food and it was all amazing! My friend and I shared the street tacos (made for two, but big enough for 3-4!) Everything was super fresh and amazing! The staff was super friendly and attentive! We loved our server! At the end of our meal, the manager brought us a complimentary large "S'mores" dessert to share. YUM!!! Was looking for something to eat after watching a movie at the Palladium, we drove around and saw this place. Parked in the parking garage because it was a Saturday & almost all of the parking around the place was taken. Our wait was about 30 mins. Waitress was sweet, we got two moonshine drinks. I got the pineapple one and it was delicious, my date got the fruit punch (I think that was the name) & it was great too. It's pretty dark inside. They had some random videos playing on one of the tvs & the Spurs game on another. Atmosphere was ok, relaxed. Really fun concept! We had a friendly waiter who took the time to talk about the moonshine options - so glad he was actually well versed in their claim to fame. My husband loved the burger - said it was incredibly tasty and well cooked. They have a GF menu (yay!) with some pretty good options, burgers, 2 entrees, shrimp or crab and a few appetizers. They even bake chips for the apps so it's not fried with the other stuff. Given all those provisions I was a little disappointed with the Caesar salad - no croutons. It was just lettuce with dressing on a warm plate (ew). There could be a little more presentation there. But the shrimp I ordered was great. Overall a good experience, will be back! read more

I was told the fries were awesome, but I wasn't such a fan as they were a little too salty for me. Had the turkey burger and cheese burger and were good but the only issue was everything was waaaay over salted. They just needed to scale back on it. Brought out of town family here and OMG great food, great drinks, great atmosphere and phenomenal service. We went for brunch and had $2 mimosas in pineapple, blood orange, blackberry and peach. Not sure which was better as all were great. Had the manhole pancake and best pancake ever with butterscotch and fresh blackberries. Tamale cakes with shrimp were delightful and the chips and serious queso was a great way to start. Really recommend this great hideaway stop and ask for Sara as she was a great server - attentive, on top of everything and great attitude. Top praise and will be back. They have a variety of delicious foods and drinks and specialize in their handcrafted moonshine. I had gone around the 3rd week they had opened and it was PACKED. We had to wait an hour for our table but that is expected. Luckily it's at the Rim and there are plenty of places to walk around or check out in the meantime. The decor is nice but it's really dark - I needed to pull out my phone to read the menu. We had ordered the Pineapple Bomb and I believe the Berry good lemonade. They were both very delicious especially the Pineapple bomb and they recommend their mixology drinks for those that have not tried moonshine before. I have tried straight moonshine before and I couldn't think of moonshine ever tasting sweet/delicious. We also ordered their Serious queso with pretzel bites as an appetizer which is very delicious and we downed it before our food even arrived. That chorizo in there is so good!! We also ordered the rebellious burger and the fried chicken - both were very good as well but the burger was pretty greasy. The chicken was super juicy and nicely breaded. We also ordered the scotch cake which is good as well! The only issue is that the food is realllllly heavy and I had a stomach ache because I ate so much and had eaten clean the previous week lol Other than, that I would definitely recommend checking this place out!! Came here for dinner on a nice night. We sat on the patio. We tried the corn spinach dip and crab/shrimp "volcano." Both were delicious, cheesy dips - smaller portions in little skillets that didn't stretch far between 4 people. Not sure where the volcano part comes in. I ordered the bulgogi tacos based on the waitress' recommendation and yelp reviews. I thought it was ok but nothing to write home about. My husband has the chicken and biscuits, which was a huge portion of nicely fried chicken in gravy. The biscuits had a lot of flavor. There were a ton of seasonings in the gravy - solid but felt a little one note. Still good though. Would've been improved with a little hot sauce and/or an over easy egg I think. We had a friend staying with us who has to eat gluten free. It's really hard to find decent gluten free menus in SA. Well Mash'D really impressed in that area. They have a decent sized GF menu (a vegetarian one as well). It is a separate menu you have to ask for. We got the delicious pot of goat (cheese) with GF crustini (made from their GF buns, but at least they're trying). The beet salad was absolutely amazing and perfect for when you want something light. The turkey burger and fries were also spot on. The first time we came here, it was actually for drinks only, and several people in our group got headaches (we only had 2 each, mind you). Not sure if that was the Moonshine or because most of the cocktails are very sweet. So just be careful. The pineapple bomb, lady marmalade, and some jalapeño cilantro drink were all great. The martini tasted a bit funky with the moonshine, and the sangria was way too sweet, so I wouldn't recommend those. Great happy hour... $3 off cocktails (most are normally $7-10). My favorite thing about this place is the viral videos they play on some of the flatscreens! Every time I'm there half the people in the restaurant are captivated by the cute puppies, epic fails, and crazy stunts. One of my new favorite places to get upscale grub in SA. Similar in taste to Whiskey Cake, but with a little more of an attitude. Went with a group of friends, and we all loved what we got. I've been to Mash'd twice now and I'm very impressed! The first time I ordered the crab and shrimp volcano and it was delicious. I also split a burger with my bf and it was so good. I'm not even a big burger person, but really liked their burger. I went back this past weekend and ordered the Open Faced Blackened Salmon sandwich with a caesar salad and it was sooo good. I can't wait to go back and order it again! The drinks are fabulous too. You cannot go wrong with the Pineapple Bomb. I've also tried the Agave Heat which is perfect for those of us who love some heat! Last but not least, the Orange You Glad is delicious. My favorite thing about the drinks at Mash'd is that they are truly unique. You can't find anything quite like them anywhere in San Antonio. The service both times has been outstanding. Ever notice how much easier it is to write 1-star and 5-star reviews than a 3- or 4-star review? Mash'd was a solid 4 stars but I'm struggling just to start this review. Usually, I'll start with either a list of pros and cons or a list of the different aspects (atmosphere, food, service, etc.). But in Mash'd's case, there are pros and cons to most of the aspects. Like atmosphere. Pros: Overall, Mash'd has interesting decor. We loved the fact the main TV screen was showing funny Youtube videos rather than sports or news. The bottles at the bar were upside down on what looked like ice pourers, which was a nice touch. So-so: It was very loud. Cons: We were first seated at a booth that had apparently been squished by the other booths being slid down. I'm not huge but I am a big guy and there just wasn't enough room. Bad way to start off a meal; but we did get moved to a table which was more comfortable. Or service: Pros: Friendly and efficient. Everyone smiled and we had several people check on our table. Cons: Being seated at the cramped booth and having to request another table. At least one other party was sat at the same booth and requested to be moved as well; at some point, the staff should have figured out there was a problem with that booth. Hopefully, they will slide the other booths back so that one can be used. And food: Pros: Excellent queso. I loved the mussels. The meatloaf was amazing. My daughters really liked their turkey burger and buloga (sp?) tacos. So-so: We thought sharing appetizers would make for a good meal, but appetizer portions were on the small side - we ordered 4 apps and still had to order entrees. My wife didn't care for the mussels. The crab and shrimp volcano was a little too sweet. Cons: Ok, no cons here. Food wasn't perfect but it was really good. Finally the most important aspect, the drinks (because this is why you come to a moonshine-themed place). Pros: Excellent selection of moonshine and tequila based drinks, and the moonshine drinks are served in a mason jar - the presentation with the shaking is really nice. Moonshine flights (if I hadn't been drinking all day already, I would have tried one). So-so: Limited beer selection. Most of the drinks were sweet; I ended up with a pineapple bomb which was recommended by our server since I wanted something not so sweet; it was good but still on the sweet side for me. Cons: Yeah, no real cons here either. Mash'd is based around moonshine and they do it well. I recommend Mash'd. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we enjoyed our evening here (after being moved out of the squished booth). read more

Came in with my wife on a Saturday night, was able to be seated right away without a reservation which was nice. Service was excellent.. Just can't say I was a fan of the food. I was disappointed enough to open a yelp account and post my first review. We shared an appetizer, this corn/spinach dip that was basically creamed corn with chips. I had the chicken and biscuits, my wife had an avocado salad with chicken. My dish looked great but the gravy was bland and the biscuit was spongey, thankfully the fried chicken was really good. My wife felt like her salad was full of "stems and arugula" but was otherwise alright. Environment: A (+1) We've been here at various lunch hours (2-5pm) on various days and it's never overly busy. The upside is it this creates an environment that is conducive for a business luncheon. Sitting inside and out are both great options (outdoor has nice heaters). Food Quality: B (+.5) The Babyback Sandwich is the perfect fusion of sweet, spicy and tender and can best be described as a party in your mouth. The fries should be re-thought. They are the Freddy's style and similarly, WAY over-seasoned. The good news is that you can sub these for a nice caesar side salad. The Moonshine Mussels were okay, but I came across a few that weren't clean and that is a taste that you won't soon forget. The Moonshine BBQ wings were excellent (it's worth noting that this is the same BBQ sauce that comes on the Babyback Sandwich) while the Sriracha Garlic Butter wings were just okay. The Rebellious Burger I had on the last visit was also a great burger! Get it with a side of Moonshine BBQ sauce - you won't be sorry! Selection: A (+1) The menu offers a lot of variety. For appetizers, we had the scrambled egg on bread and the pepperoni rolls wrapped in chicken. They were equally tasty and satisfying. For drinks, we had a lemonade with fresh watermelon, at the suggestion of our waiter, and a ginger beer. We found it neat that we could customize our lemonade with a selection of fruits that they had available, such as strawberries and blackberries. As far as our entree, we ordered two avocado salads to go, with a side of shrimps, salmon, and steak.
