We haven't been here for quite sometime and decided to go to our favorite teriyaki bowls. What happened to the bowls! I get that prices have gone up but why did your bowls shrink in size? I reviewed this restaurant last year and had a terrible lunch and even wordplay customer service. I gave it another chance, every restaurant has off days. Nope the second time was even worst. The cashier was even worst then my last experience. Surly, and unfriendly. Why does this place hire such employees with the worst customer service I have ever experience. I almost asked to speak to the manager but it seems with all the negative reviews they just don't care. I will never go back. Hopefully this review will save you a trip. Late review sorry guys!!! So it was yesterday that me nd my gf went here 2 eat. Place was not 2 busy and was nice and clean also!!! So we started are order and I must say the girl taking are order was very,very nice!!! I believe her name was Rosie. She was so polite 2 us and also even brought us are food 2 are table. So we got are food my girl got the chicken salad and I got the teriyaki beef on the sticks,veggie tempura and a cucumber salad,steamed rice and a piece of chicken I believed it was BBQ maybe but what ever it was it was delicious!!! The prices went up over $1.00 and the bowls are smaller. A couple of months ago it was $8.99 for chicken teriyaki bowl. Now it's $10 and less chicken. The food is cheap which is great. They have a handful of choices. The food quality is average nothing too exciting. I come here more for convenience than anything. The service is good no complaints there. I will say my only complaint is that I almost choked on a bone (it blended in with my chicken). Granted I was eating it in a dark room so I didn't see it but it stabbed my esophagus before I was able to pull it out. For all of the sushi lovers out there, their sushi is def not worth the money. It's bland and it's mainly rice if anything. Overall it's an okay play for a quick bite. read more

Service from Asian girl who works as cashier is AWFUL. Rude, aggressive and it's apparent the owner does not care. After she tried to instigate an altercation with myself and a co-worker on our lunch all because we checked our own orders and noticed the extra veggies we paid for were not included, I called the owner foolishly thinking they would want to know of this behavior. He "acted" shocked but his response was to visit the Mary's vineyard location in the future. Cashier was rude. She said she gave me my order number and I checked every pocket while standing at the counter without throwing anything away and her response was well, I just gave it to you. Then proceeded to walk away without telling me my number. The guest behind me was kind enough to tell me her number was 80 so mine must have been 79. The service at this place has majorly gone down hill. The two "younger" looking girls working today Friday the 16th around 1:30 have no customer service skills at all. Rude. Don't smile. The girl with the really out grown blonde hair shouldn't be working around people at all. I was really hoping to have a delicious meal. I ordered a chicken katsu bowl and a teriyaki beef bowl. The katsu was very dry and it tasted of old frying oil. I tried to dress it up with the included katsu sauce. OMG. It was awful. Did anyone happen to taste the sauce before serving customers? I couldn't even finish the meal. Very disappointed. My wife's beef teriyaki tasted burnt. It left a very bad after taste. I'm not even sure how it's possible to get this wrong. It should be very easy to cook. It's almost like the cooks just don't have any passion in their dishes. This is the first time I have ever left a negative review. Owner is definitely rude. Or whatever it was that was taking my order, rushing your customers... and she expected me to tip? No thanks, first time at this location, definitely will not be coming back! The staff at the other location is so much nicer than this one. When you're sitting in the dinning you can see right through the kitchen, and it shows the fact that they got staff who doesn't have their hair up, looks like they don't even give a care about sanitary hygiene and procedures. Usually delicious, today NOT! Something must have been left out of the salad dressing for the chicken salad - zero flavor and didn't even look like normal! Not enough dressing/ sauce for our rice bowl! I called in my order in advance and when I walked in to pick it up I had to wait in line behind 7 people to pick it up, and I can see my order sitting there with my hot rice bowl sitting right on top of my cold chicken salad! Why can't the owner enable an app, like "Toast Takeout" so people can order AND pay on the app, and then just walk in and pick up there order instead of standing in line behind all these people who are placing ordered!!! read more

The food is good. I really enjoy the vegetarian options available. However, Maybe it's because I grew up in a big city and have unreasonable expectations for Visalia. But, I've experienced very slow service at Masaru's, as much as it pains me to say. I called my order in before leaving my office. Drive time is about 6 minutes. The lady on the line says, "See you in ten minutes." I expected my order to be ready to pick up as soon as I arrived or shortly thereafter. I leave the office at 1:10pm (just after the lunch rush.) I arrive and tell the same person I spoke with I am there to pick up. My order is not ready. She picks up the ticket where my order was written and places it on the counter and yells "veggie curry." My order has not even been placed. The girl watches me sign the receipt. I'm not sorry I didn't tip. Twenty minutes after I called to place my order, she calls my name. Places my bag on the counter and turns around to chit chat with the cooks in the back. The reason I call in my order is so I don't have to wait. I don't know if the policy at Masaru's has changed but previously my order was put in when I called or shortly thereafter not when I got there. I'll be back at Masaru's but if you're calling in, maybe give it 20 minutes. Not "ten." read more

Ordered a couple of pieces of the Inari and normaki sushi, a couple of teriyaki beef sticks and one chicken kushikatsu. This place takes me back home to Kaua'i where these items are pretty much staples at any family beach BBQ or gathering. The food was ONO, as we say in Hawaii. This place used to be our go-to a couple times a month but we've had enough. The food has gone downhill while the prices have climbed. The sauce has no flavor, the rice has been crunchy, and the last three times we've had chicken rice bowls, there have been chicken bones in them.
