Absolutely fantastic as always! At first we thought she said "2min", but then I thought maybe we just misunderstood and it was "10min"; we were wrong. It was 2min! They were lightning fast today! Food and the service are always incredible here. Ambiance was quiet and peaceful today. One guy waiting, I walked right up and picked up the order. Can't go wrong with the bowls "teriyaki beef and chicken, options for spicy or not." Instead we went with the sushi rolls, tempura veggies and shrimp today! It did not disappoint! Unpretentious, fast food Japanese spot. The food is ok. When I come here I'll get a chicken teriyaki bowl and a California roll. Today I got a beef and chicken teriyaki bowl, which was fine except for the beef. The beef was overcooked and dry. The California roll is mostly rice. The service is ok, sometimes a bit rude and uninterested, and on rare occasions, friendly. I come here because my spouse likes the rice bowls. But for a few more dollars you can get excellent food and good service at Sushi Kuu or Healthy Japan. The interior of the restaurant is basic, but clean. read more

Food is okay but my chicken was burnt this time. However the cashier was horrible. She must be the owner herself since she hasn't been fired yet already. She gave me a look of hatred as soon as I walked in, is it because she's Mexican and I'm not?!?!? and the way she took my order was as if she would murder me. Chicken Kushikatsu Plate - kushikatsu was good but said came with Namasu Salad but was Sunomomo (cucumber) which would have been okay but cucumbers were limp & aging. Ordered shrimp roll & spicy tuna roll & barely had any filling. Compare picture to site pictures. Have come periodically for over 20 years, but not in over a year. Well from the reviews people either love it or hate it. I really like it, it's simple and low key and I like how the meat is cooked. Obviously you wanna go to one of Visalias high end sushi spots for raw fish but for lunch break eats or a little fuel up before a Walmart shopping spree, this is the spot. read more

Not a fan at all. If you're wanting Masaru's, do yourself a favor and go to the other location on Goshen! I stopped in today for lunch. It was busy like always, but that's to be expected. It took a while for our order to be prepared (one chicken teriyaki bowl and one veggie tempura bowl). When I got the order, I looked in the bag and saw there was only one container of cucumber slices. I asked if we could please have a second one and then the two gals in front stepped aside and has a really weird, hushed conversation, before finally telling me that the chicken bowl doesn't come with cucumbers -- they were very awkward about it and said: "if you want more, you have to pay for it". Odd, because at the other location, they give them with every rice bowl order :/ it was weird so I just got out of there. When I got home, I realized they didn't include any of the teriyaki or ponzu sauce that's supposed to come with the dishes. Ugh. Everything was super dry and bland. I wish I would have noticed when I was there, but they probably wouldn't have given them to me anyway. Yuck! Ah yes, the stars go down for the second visit. Wife ordered the curry and Masaru's hasn't changed their practice of putting 5¢ worth of curry over steamed veggies and rice. I ordered the Teri beef and chicken bowl. You know, teriyaki beef and chicken should have teriyaki sauce on it. Nope, not one drop. They also didn't not properly seal one of the sauce cups for what I assume was gyoza dipping sauce since we did have an order of that. This sauce leaked onto the bag and into the upholstery of our new car. Not ever coming back and will discourage any and all from eating at Masaru's. read more

Okay so I've only eating here a handful of times as my wife is from Visalia. We always order the chicken teriyaki bowls and I get a side order of tempura shrimp "it's sold by individual pieces", so I get like 3-4 of them. Teriyaki bowls are simple and delicious my 2 oldest kids who are somewhat picky eaters enjoy them so we come here every now and then when we visit my mother in-law. read more

Credit card machine "isn't working," long waits, lost my order last time we were in after waiting nearly 30 minutes. Always get the teriyaki chicken bowl, love , love, love it! I usually get gyoza, but this time I got the spring rolls. Don't care for their sauce but I had some good chile sauce at home. I also tried their California Roll. It was ok, but felt it had too much rice and not enough of the good stuff. Probably won't order again. I'll just stick to the chicken bowl. read more

This place is a Visalia mainstay for more than a decade, but unfortunately it doesn't look like anyone has invested in it for at least as long. The food is still good, but the interior is starting to look really rundown. There are beer "giveaways" from at least 10 years ago, once cool, now just a sign that no one really cares. It's probably one way to make a profit, but it doesn't do much for the diner. We get ours to go, in a pinch, but would likely eat here more often if it looked like someone was invested. Unfortunately, what you see in the front of the house is often far better than what's going on in back... and that's a little scary. read more

Despite the only 3 star reviews on Yelp I decided to give them a try as I was in the mood for some good rice-bowl style Japanese food. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Even though they were still take out only the service I did get was fast and friendly. Also....had their Chicken Terriyaki Combo plate and it was quite good. Received a whole leg/thigh portion with rice, marinated cucumbers and vegetable tempura. It was all well prepared and I liked that the terriyaki sauce was more tangy than sweet. I can definitely recommend Masaru's if you're in the mood for Japanese takeout. read more

Masaru's is a consistent rotation type place I enjoy their spicy teriyaki beef bowl. My family and I enjoy it at least twice a month. There isn't much wow factor there but, it is consistent and the price is perfect for the quality you receive. I recommend for a really flavorful teriyaki chicken or beef bowl. I haven't been here in several years but my fav Japanese place was closed for some reason (Tokyo terakkyi by Walmart on mooney) and it is absolutely dreadful!!!! I asked for all white meat, it was not white meat. I ordered a cali roll and they are so big and full of all rice, a tiny bit of crab and black avacado. I'll go to nasty mcds b4 I EVER go back to this place!! I'm not even going to talk about the customer service besides dont expect to b greeted, thanked or told anything besides how much u owe. The sushi here is not worth it at all. I ordered a few California rolls and Spicy tuna rolls. They are not cut evenly, there is more rice than actual meat, couldn't even taste the cucumber it taste bitter. My spicy tuna roll has a very strong metallic roll, I ate one and it does not taste fresh at all. I would not recommend this location for Sushi. Don't order spicy Mayo either, mine was super watery and barely stayed on the roll when I tried to eat it. read more

I was waited on by Erika. I gave my order and she read it back to me so fast that I could not confirm that what she said was what I ordered. I nicely asked her to speak a little slower, that I didn't understand her, and she began yelling at me as she slowly read my order back to confirm it, the second time. The spicy sauce is great. Sushi roll is literally 90% rice, 10% filling. So you're paying essentially for seaweed wrapped rice balls that you can dip in soy. Located in Mary's Vineyard shopping center, this hole in the wall spot serves up hand made Japanese food fast and cheap. It's a little bit of a dive, but the food is really good and the owner is a really nice guy. I recommend the chicken rice bowl and spicy tuna roll. The Chinese Chicken Salad is really good too.
