First time trying this place, had some great reviews so we decided to give it a shot. We went at 5:00 on a Friday so it was our dinner, after saying that I can see this as more of a lunch spot. We ordered the dumplings and vegetables spring roll as an appetizer and our main entrees that we went with was the curry beef udon, curry chicken udon, regular beed udon and the salmon rice bowl...so out the door $83...not bad. The curry udon bowls smelled amazing, unfortunately they didnt quite have the traditional curry taste to them which was disappointing. Beef Udon was ok, seemed very sweet tasting so had to add chili sauce. Spring rolls came out so hot we couldnt even pick them up for a bit, but unfortunately not really had any type of taste. Dumplings were small but tasty. Decided to grab some lunch today. I was looking through some restaurants and found this location on my recommendation list. Oh, I'm glad this popped up for me, the food was great! I was told to have a seat by the single table against the right wall. Wasn't guided but self-seated. Although, I was expecting to be seated near the kitchen where the stools were because I was dining alone. But it's alright, they probably have seating arrangements like this so the server can control service flow. I was able to place my order quickly because they had a menu outside their door, which is pretty convenient. Got my order within 5-10mins. The apps came first which was the seaweed salad and squid legs. The seaweed salad tastes how it should, nothing crazy or special about them. The squid legs (calamari legs) cooked with the tempura batter I presume, were pretty good. I was expecting them to be crunch and hard but they came out perfectly cooked. Although, if I were to make this at home, I would add a pinch of black pepper or some kind of spice to enhance the flavor. After a few minutes my Tonkatsu Ramen finally came, which was the sole reason I chose to eat here. Alright, to be honest I liked the Ramen, liked the soup, but I wouldn't necessarily say I love it. The Broth was the only thing that made it, for me, not to love it. I love my broth to be rich and creamy, filled with umami. But! Don't be get me wrong! The flavor and the structure of the Ramen was there! Everything was precise. Tasted how it should taste and felt how it should have. The noodles were cooked to the point where it's firm and not loose, soggy, or sticking together like most places I've been too. The soup? It's great, I felt like, it was purposefully not too rich and creamy over all for majority of the consumers. Because you gotta think about the kids, elders and people with sensitive taste. Was originally going to go to Aloha next door for some Hawaiian but decided to check this place out after peeking at their menu outside. Good thing we did cause this place has a good selection of yummy foods to choose from. Everything we ordered was superb, and we'll definitely be back again to try out more of their menu. If you're thinking about trying this place out and wanting some good Japanese food, this is your spot. When you arrive make sure to sign in, using the sign in sheet at a hostess stand inside. We waited about 30-40 min to get a table, so be ready to wait. We went a Friday evening around 6-7 pm. Ramen & Pork Katsu are very good would go again for that. The service is a little iffy, not sure if they are overwhelmed or just new and young. But no greeting when you arrive, other customers informed us about the sign in sheet. Once we got our food we didn't get any more help we had to get up for extra sauce or napkins. Pro tip: just get the ramen. I tried to branch out and ordered the tempura udon... mistake. The seaweed tempura came out with the structural integrity of a brick. Not crispy, not delicate--just aggressively inedible. I genuinely considered using it as construction material. Ended up stealing my girlfriend's Spicy Miso ramen, which was actually really good--rich, flavorful, exactly what you want when you go to a ramen spot in the first place. Takoyaki was solid too--warm, fresh, no complaints there. Moral of the story: don't get creative here. Get the ramen and be happy. read more

We were visiting Visalia last February and decided to order ramen through DoorDash. We got the spicy miso ramen and chashu ramen, and both were delicious! The packaging was great, noodles were kept separate from the broth, ensuring they didn't get soggy. Plus, everything came in a cute tote bag, which was a nice touch. Waited for hostess to acknowledge us for 30 mins. Guests waiting were standing outside in the sun. Four tables had signs restricting their use and they weren't sitting guests at the bar. If all tables were being used, there would be no wait. Service wasn't great. Waitress didn't check on us and didn't even look at us when we waved her down. Had to ask for assistance the entire visit. Love the art and atmosphere but the food was just okay. Tonkatsu flavor was authentic. Curry tasted okay but was runny. Shoyu ramen had tonkatsu broth, but Shoyu is supposed to be a soy broth. The Miso Ramen is made with tonkatsu broth, which is supposed to be miso added to a soy base. They had many other options on the menu. I may return to try other items like the rice bowls since the ramen isn't that good. read more

I'm from Fresno and personally work at Ichiban Ramen,,, I wanted to check out this place while visiting visalia. When looking at their menu I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any beef options for ramen. I don't eat pork, so the next best thing for me was chicken. I personally love our spicy miso beef at ichiban ramen so I was hoping for a similar flavor. The chicken was really juicy, but they went a bit overboard with the pepper hahah... The soft boiled eggs were pleasing. I loved their thick noodles and their other toppings. (green onions and bamboo) The broth was a good 2/10 for me. It's decently spicy. Very oily for my liking. It has an overpowering peanut flavor and the taste doesn't go well with the chicken. I'd probably only come back again if i REALLLY craved ramen and for whatever reason I couldn't get some from my job. Quick and easy service tho. The service is typical and expected from a Ramen house and very similar to the dozens of other Ramen houses I've been to...meaning this is a "wait to be seated, sit down, order, eat, pay the bill" sort of place. On the food side of things, the execution of the broth and the quality of the noodles is 10/10. I do like how they do not automatically add tons of sprouts, Nori sheets, fish cakes in the broth, but take a minimal approach and you can add more accoutrements as you like...but I prefer the minimal approach and like it's pretty much soft boiled egg, corn, and green onions that are added to the broth. The price was about average. The chicken karaage was crispy and tasty but not served hot. The dumplings were good and cooked well. I think unless a better Ramen shop opens up in town, this place reigns #1 in Visalia, very comparable to Los Angeles and Orange County places I've visited. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see a new ramen spot on the south side of town. I have a preferred ramen spot in the city, however good-disappoint however however however. I got the spicy ramen, and my daughter did as well. It was delicious. The broth was both tangy and full of flavor. The only thing I wasn't highly impressed with was the pork in the soup. It had little flavor and didn't have the delicious taste that my other spot does. Again, the ramen had excellent broth and was the perfect heat. Super cute inside, and friendly staff.
