I stayed in Tulare during a visit to Sequoia National Park. I decided to give Asian Grill Sushi a try, and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms, which is always a plus. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the poke bowl was a 10/10. We started with the cucumber salad, and the dressing made it absolutely delicious. Our server, Karely, was so sweet, attentive, and gave us great recommendations. She made the experience even better. The only downside was that I thought it was a little overpriced, but I also understand that's just the reality with inflation these days. Overall, it reminded me of my favorite sushi spot back home, J Sushi. I'd definitely come back and recommend it if you're in the area. read more

Ordered the Fantastic Roll, and it featured all of my favorite raw fish. Everything was prepared perfectly, the fish was incredibly fresh, sliced in just the right proportions, and the combination of ingredients blended together beautifully. The Salmon Sashimi was also exceptionally fresh, but what really set it apart from any sashimi I've had before was the pickled garlic. It had the perfect balance of acidity while still preserving its garlic flavor, and it paired amazingly well with the rich, buttery salmon. For dessert, don't skip the fried cheesecake with ice cream. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. Our server, Corelli, made excellent recommendations, delivered our food quickly, and was attentive and genuinely friendly throughout our visit. As we were checking out, she apologized for what she felt was slow service, even though we never once thought the service was slow. That alone speaks volumes about the high standard of hospitality they strive to provide. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, well maintained, and even the bathrooms were spotless. I honestly wasn't expecting much from a quick lunch date, but I couldn't find a single thing to criticize. First time trying Asian grill and I gotta say, it was delicious. As you first walk in, you're greeted by the friendly staff and seated. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming. We've visited their sister restaurant (Korean Chili) just a few storefronts away and they carry the same level of customer service. On our menu today we ordered the Jalapeño popper appetizer, bento box, and curry noodle. The Jalapeño inside the popper was fresh and luckily not too spicy. The tuna was well seasoned and the panko breading was crisp and not at all oily. They drizzled it with eel sauce and spicy mayo. Great starter! The bento box was a generous portion that included a side salad with sesame dressing. Tempura fried veggies and shrimp, which were perfectly cooked and had a crispy batter. Fried gyoza. Four pieces of California roll. And perfectly cooked chicken with teriyaki sauce on the side. The curry noodle was quite unexpected. The broth was rich with a subtle touch of heat and flavorful use of spices. The eggs were a nice addition of protein. The noodles and chicken were cooked well. Definitely a dish I'd order on a nice cold day. Both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. We'd definitely return if visiting Tulare again. read more

My experience at the Asian grill was exceptional from the food to the overall feel of the restaurant. The bar area was very nice since you could observe the cooks and see how they prepare the sushi rolls right in front of you! The service was great too. My only complaint is the miso soups not coming with the bento box as in most cases most restaurants include miso soups when order bento boxes. Unless the miso soup is big then I would understand. Other then that, my experience here was great and I would highly recommend coming here for some good sushi and noodles. read more

Congratulations on the nomination for Central Valley's Best. Here, they are consistently great. It's definitely a hidden gem of the valley when it comes to sushi. No frills, no need for fancy showmanship such as dry ice facade to make their sushi look good. The freshness exudes greatly here. I especially would drive the hour or so to come here. The price is one of the cheapest in the area/valley. They don't skimp on the quality whatsoever. I love the sashimi and nigiri platters here. Always loaded with just goodness. One thing that I know for sure I haven't found anything closer that offers this kind of quality and service. Tulare is lucky to have a place like this. Pay them a visit. They are worth it. read more

I'm giving 3 starts because I liked the salad and the hamachi. The rest of my nigiri was not fresh. I guess it's hard to have an authintic Japanese restaurant so far away from the coast. The staff was nice. This is the first sushi place that didn't tell me which fish was on my plate. The plate was put in front of me with out an explination. This is my favorite sushi spot in Tulare.. when you don't want to travel to Visalia this is the place to go. Rolls are always fresh and delicious. Their seaweed salad is a must for me when I go, their sesame dressing is delicious and you can buy it to go and make a salad at home! I'm looking for a sushi spot here in Tulare, instead of traveling to Visalia, to visit Gozen. Right when I walked in I knew I was going to regret this place, only because the sushi bar windows where the chef stands is dirty, the glass needed some windex to it, and that right away scared me because I'm going to be sticking fish in my mouth. I ordered the crunch roll anyways, because I'm stupid like that and really wanted to try sushi here in Tulare. The roll was really really good!! Had a lot of crunch to it, and I even dipped it in soy sauce for that extra flavor. Sadly the rolls are really really small. I can't believe I paid 12 bucks for the little amount of sushi I ordered, I am on a diet...but I was still hungry!! Customer service was good, the outside of the restaurant looks like it needs to be updated, the signage is tearing off the windows...I don't think I'll be back anytime soon read more

We were just making a stop in Tulare on our way home from Death Valley. Wanted some quick takeout so we ordered a grilled chicken entree, a teriyaki chicken bowl, and a soup udon with tempura. The food is ok - not amazing but not bad. It did its job for what we were looking for. Unfortunately, they forgot to pack the tempura for the tempura udon. We called back and they acknowledged that they forgot to put it in the bag and that if we can pick it up if we drive back. But it was far and we just wanted them to refund us the difference. Not only did they say they can't do that, they started justifying that they did prepare it, just that they forgot to put it in the bag. Umm ok....but that doesn't make it ok!
