Walked in, was not sure if we should be seated or order at the counter. Approached the counter waited, asked about menus and was directed to the wall menu. We waited to order, waited some more and waited some more. The atmosphere was odd, the chicken they placed on the grill appeared to be (frozen) previously cooked not sure. While waiting at the register to give our order we were ignored, a phone call came in and the guy their took there order rather than attending to us.... We left. The restaurant is clean. The AC was on so it was definitely nice to step into that air blowing. The food was okay. Although a couple items that I ordered were not correct, the cooks were happy to correct it. I was surprised to look on the menu on the wall and not knowingly that there was a price difference by $1.00 on everything on the menu. Geta express is Japanese fusion fast food, serving fried rice, egg rolls. & possibly more Chinese food. The food is good, although the sushi rice doesn't seem to be quite on target. The plates and bowls are well proportioned, but the sushi rolls are a little small and the fish is sliced very thinly. Other ingredients I.e. the masago seem thinly applied. Service could be a bit more cheerful and explanations of food could be more detailed and given with a smile and the feeling that they are glad you are there spending your money with them. Orders are taken and paid for at the counter and then delivered to your table when ready. For ambiance, I like the interior. It looks Japanese. I would prefer some in character music to woo the taste buds instead of music I can hear anywhere else. Go to place for Japanese food in Hanford! Remember you are not in SF/LA/OC, but for the 559 this is a reasonable spot for sushi and Japanese food in the area. Highly recommend the Louisiana roll as I love the tempura jalapeño on top. Slight kick to it but not overwhelming. Family also enjoyed our salmon bento box, dragon roll and combination plates. Geta is my go to in Hanford for some quick yummy sushi! Chili chili ban ban is my fav! If you like spice it's great! The dressing they give you for your salad is good too. Oh and if sushi isn't your thing then get the Geta chicken it's da bomb! read more

I've waited 5 years to repost my review about the baby cockroaches that were found in my veggie tempura. I was told that they were not cockroaches, but rather part of the broccoli. Sorry? Getaxpress seems to be loosing their touch... I got a Katsu bento box and the pork was so old when I got my first bite I spit it out due to the fact of fear of maybe getting food poisoning GULP!!!! The taste was foul and the pork looked OLD! The California roll was falling apart and my veggie tempura the veggies were old! I wanted to go back and return my food but it was late and I was tired from a long day of work. I'm really surprised with my order. Past times they have been on point with orders with fresh quality ingredients. But as far as for my meal now it was a big fat MISS!!!! You can be sure I will stay far away! Good ol' Geta. Geta has been a Hanford staple for as long as I can remember. I used to frequently visit Geta when I worked and lived in Hanford over 10 years ago. It's also still owned by the same person, so their longevity proves they're doing something right. Because Hanford locals know, restaurants here dont last unless you got something good to feed us! The Geta today is actually an improvement in my eyes. Food selection got better, and it seems like prices improved as well. On my most recent visit, I ordered the pork don bowl for around $7. It was a nice sized rice bowl that actually filled me up. Geta is cooked to order so if you're in a rush, you'll definitely want to call in your order because it can get busy at certain times. The place looks like it hasn't been remodeled since it opened, but that's ok, because the food is still good quality. It's a solid 4 star for Hanford standards. Any other major city this place drops down to a 3 star, but with Hanford's limited selection, this place can still hold it's own and deserves a minimum 4 star rating. Why does nobody talk about the Geta Chicken?! This is by far the best thing here. This place has been a staple in the community for a very very long time and deserves all the praise. The restaurant might be a little rough around the edges, but that just adds to the the charm of the experience. This isn't exactly a sushi restaurant so I wouldn't come here expecting an amazing sushi experience, but all the other food items are authentic and delicious. First off we waited over a half hour and still had not received our food so my husband went up to the counter to check on it and 2 of our 3 dinners were sitting there. They gave them to him and they were both cold. Our son's dinner and our appetizer were not ready. That took another 10 minutes to get. This place has great food and employees seem to be great every time I go through the drive through. The wait is a little long sometimes but we'll worth it. I believe because it's being made to order and fresh. Veggies are always fresh. Sometimes I think it's closed because I do not see as many lights on through the windows like I used to see. You know with the signs that light up, I think they took some down or maybe do not turn them on anymore. It's a little gloomy inside as well because I feel it's so dark inside because of the color scheme and decor but maybe to give you that authentic look. Over all it's been a great experience every time I go there and with every employee I have had help me. As good as the employees seem to be there they deserve a raise! Especially the young girl that has curly hair and looks real young and I believe maybe biracial!! She's super sweet and I love when she helps us with our order! One and Done. Decided to eat here after living in Hanford for a year and wanting a semi healthy option not related to land meats. I decided to order the Shrimp Tempura bowl which clearly states it comes with 2 pieces of shrimp and 4 of Tempura veggies. Yum. When I arrived I stood at register for 5 min waiting for the employees to finish other orders before telling them that I had an online order. They told me "You're gonna love this!" I drove home all the way to the other side of town to find 5 pieces of soggy tempura shrimp (due to non-vented packaging) AND NO VEGETABLES. I called the store and explained the situation, the person on the phone said oh they must've made the wrong one and asked me if I'd be willing to come back. I said yes, and was told that they would get started "re-making the order". This is where it gets weird (and honestly insulting). I showed up to the restaurant, again, I told the person at the counter that I called ahead due to a mistake on my order. She proceeds to hand me a small container of freshly made vegetables. I told her, I'm sorry, but this is not a remade order and honestly the shrimp was not edible. I explained my situation and was told "that's just how it is". At this point I'm done giving them a shot, I asked for my money back if that's how it's gonna be. Told them I'll never come back. Sorry to say but this is a continuous issue in our community. Lack of service and honestly just our human care. It's issues like this that will put this business and many others OUT OF BUSINESS. 2 days later Geta is all of a sudden looking for more employees.
