The owner is rude, unfriendly, and dresses like she just rolled out of bed, which makes me question the cleanliness of the restaurant. I asked for the spicy sauce before I paid like the sign said to do, and she was so mean about it. Threw my sauce in the bag with attitude and then asked, "Is that all" very harshly. I was in shock the way I was treated, and I don't understand why she thinks this is an acceptable way to treat customers. I used to love the food here, but the owner has made me never want to visit this establishment ever again. People don't deserve to be treated like that when they are simply just trying to pick up lunch and pay and get back to work. Someone needs to tell her to leave her bad attitude at the door....there's a thing called being professional regardless of any personal situations going on. I wouldn't have written this review if it wasn't a pattern with the owner, but it's every time i go in there. Unfortunately the food quality here has gotten terrible. We always order the teriyaki bowls, vegetable tempura and California rolls. The shredded chicken always has bones in it now, the rolls have no flavor and are mushy, and the tempura is old and soggy. It's too bad because we use to love this place. read more

Mediocre food. After several years I finally thought they would actually have thought about changing their attitude and been pleasant and helpful well I was wrong. The employee working the order counter acted as if I was waisting her time. I'm sure some people like to greeted with Over here and what do you want and be impatient about it. Last night I went to pick up my order of 2 chicken bowls , order of tempura shrimp (1) in a order and 2 order of tempura veg! The chicken in the bowls were shredded and looked like they scrapped the last of the chicken and put it in my bowls ( small portions) I got 1 pc of shrimp with my order and 6 very small and greasy tempura Vegs ! Simple teriyaki chicken or beef bowls seem to be their bread and butter dish. They are really tasty. Chicken has just the right amount of char and the meat is tender with great flavor. The tempura vegetables are pretty good but beyond that nothing seems to hit home with us. If we go to Masaru's it's strictly for one of these items. Honestly I don't know why they make sushi rolls. For one, they are not very good at the sushi roll thing. Second, they really don't need to have it on the menu. If they just stick to what they do well, that's all people really want. Teriyaki bowls. Overall a decent place to get a fresh tasty teriyaki bowl. Relatively inexpensive, but they do now charge you for siracha sauce 25 cents to be exact. read more

Spicy tuna roll: the roll was predominately rice and some spicy tuna in the middle. Honestly, for $6, I wasn't expecting much. It was edible and I would order again. Teriyaki chicken bowl: came as a recommendation from the cashier. Chicken was dry and super salty. The sauce comes on the side. I poured it into my bowl, thinking the sweetness will cut the saltiness. It helped a little bit. Not my favorite meal. My husband was going to meet me at masarus yesterday for his lunch, so I got there early and ordered for us. After I ordered, I found out my husband's meeting was going to last longer than he thought and he wasn't going to be able to meet me for lunch anymore. When I saw my order show up, I immediately asked the lady at the register if I could get that order to go. There was no one behind me in line so it shouldn't have been an issue. Went to Masaru's restaurant on Goshen and Akers in Visalia California today and had the worst customer service and management experience. Asked to have my salad order checked because I asked for no onions or Crunchy noodles and to make sure the salad dressing was there because half the time it never is. Girl said she would not look as she knew the order was right. Came home and there was onions and noodles in my salad and no salad dressing. I called the restaurant and asked for A manager. I said I Needed a new salad because this one was inedible and he said said no, "You took the salad home we cannot reimburse you we cannot make you another one unless you pay again". I used to go to Masaru four times a week; it was expensive and good food. Now the prices are several dollars more and the portions are 1/3 less in size. Customer service has been poor lately and I do not recommend this restaurant at all. This is not the first time something like this has happened. The line is usually long and slow so if you are looking for a fast food place this is not it. I would not recommend this place at all. If you get togo food there you better check your order By pulling everything out of the bag and make sure they got it right otherwise you're out of luck read more

Let me start by saying this place is simple. If you are looking for a nice aesthetically pleasing sit down place, look somewhere else. The restaurant is simple and gives you somewhere to sit with basic tables and chairs. The customer service is okay and often times there is a battle between using the card reader and answering the phone. Also, for those impatient folks prepare to wait in a short line. What they do have is a killer Teriyaki bowl! I recommend getting the spicy sauce and you can do half rice half steamed veggies (Carrots, Zucchini and Broccoli) which is a great option if you're looking to save some carbs. This is a Visalia gem.
