I miss Wabi Sabi. I went to the reopening of this now very bright orange and badly painted dining room awhile back and had a pretty meh experience, but tried again last night. The fish is of varying degrees of quality from OK to poor, but nothing I tasted slapped me with delicious. The first time, I had some very uneven cuts of sashimi, like not even slices, just like a few "shreds" of a slice that were 1/3 the size of the other normal sized sashimi slices. This time they were larger but not that good. I couldn't finish my salmon, usually my favorite cut. Not good quality and some tough parts, not pleasant to chew. Eel sashimi was chewy and rubbery. Also didnt finish it, and like the previous reviewer, I am not usually like that. They gave a free app of some deep-fried sushi roll that was OK. Haddad roll was the highlight for me, but the super-sweet plum sauce drizzled on it was a miss--plus if you are using a rice paper skin why use rice as well? They seem to rely alot on strange sauces that don't quite hit the mark in bringing the flavors to-geth-er. The worst part by far was the salmon tartar app. It was inedibly gross and when I sent it back the waitress asked what I didnt like (while the sushi chefs stared and another waitress came over to listen in too, tacky). I told her that the fish didn't have a flavor and that the cuts were tough and from the outer part of the fish and still had some of the skin on (!!!!!!), like the white layer that runs under the skin..,whatever that is called, sorry but I'm not an ichthyologist. She asked me if I wanted her to bring me another and said "no", bc any place that would serve a pile of utter crap like that and try to pass it off as sushi grade fish is not going to suddenly improve on its quality and overall standards. With 30% off, I still paid $60-something after tip (and we had only water to drink). I wonder what the other 2 diners sitting next to us thought? Very disappointing as the amount of fish in rolls is quite small. They also upcharge for everything including brown rice. $1 per roll is not reasonable especially when they don't tell you ahead of time. The same with the Ginger. When I asked about not notifying me ahead of time I got a cold stare. Never again! Too many other good options in Morristown. Can't beat the quality and price of this place. Sushi is very good and the best part is that it is 50% when you dine in or carry out with cash. You literally cannot beat that. You can get $15, $16 specialty rolls for 7 and 8 bucks... AMAZING. The specialty rolls are definitely better than a lot of places I have been. But they are for sure on the smaller side. 6 rolls did not fill me and my boyfriend up like it does at other places. I think it is because there is very little rice on the outside, but hey less carbs. Definitely one of the best in Morristown, don't bother with Sushi lounge, the Hoboken location is 10x better. WOW this place is really good. I had two rolls (painted lady and broad street) and both were really delicious. The painted lady was my favorite. The cash discount is SUCH a plus. You can't beat the prices. As it is, the place isn't expensive, but with that 50% cash discount, it's unbeatable. Was it the absolute best sushi I have ever had? Definitely not. Great prices here, if you bring cash it is half priced for all sushi. But there is a reason it's so cheap, they use a lot of filler (think tempura flakes/crunchies) even for regular rolls which makes it taste a lot less refreshing and fresh and a lot more fried, and the amount of actual fish is very small. I am sometimes in the mood for that kind of taste though so maybe I'll go back, but I was really in the mood for a fresh raw sushi flavor and I was disappointed. read more

I had a lunch box the other day with chicken teriyaki and my friend had the salmon. Overall, really tasty experience. The sushi itself is just okay but i thoroughly enjoyed the chicken teriyaki and shumai. There are better spots in Morristown for sushi but when I want a bento box, this is my go to spot. read more

The waitress came to refill our water once, which was lukewarm. The sushi was subpar and have definitely had better. Charged us $1 for spicy mayo, like what is that about. I was drawn in by the different special rolls they offered but left disappointed- I don't think I'll be chosing this place over J.Hinari again. The place was blazingly hot and humid (I blame the massive tropical fish tank for this)- made for an uncomfortable dining experience. We were sent a complimentary plate of seaweed salad and few slices of spiced seared tuna- this was awesome, too bad everything else didn't have this much flavor. BF ordered something from the Thai menu (I know, I know should have known better)- tasted like chinese takeout chicken & broccoli with 3 pieces of Thai basil and a few slivers of undercooked eggplant mixed in. I will say the chicken was awesome. The special rolls sounded great but all lacked in flavor, the temperature of the rolls also matched that of the interior of the restaurant (suspiciously warm, and we didn't get anything deep fried). All the rolls I ordered were described as spicy or included jalepeno- I detected no sort of spiciness at all. Usually I don't use soy sauce but gave it a shot in an attempt to add some flavor- I've never seen soy sauce so watered down before- it was no help whatsoever. Avocado in one of the rolls was in huge chunks and was so underripe it was hard to eat. I didn't finish my rolls and the bf had no interest in finishing after trying one of each- and we are NOT people who leave sushi behind.. I will say that their ginger dressing on the green salad is awesome- but I suspect it's due to added oil or mayo. Perfect portion though. The 30% off was nice, and I might try the place again but stick to just regular sushi or sashimi- they had a pretty good variety on the menu. The menu is decent and there are enough rolls to choose from, but the quality of the sushi is not great. I ordered tuna sashimi last night and it was almost a brown color and did not taste fresh at all. The salad had romaine lettuce with ginger dressing, almost impossible to eat with chop sticks. The service is terrible and usually they rush you to order and then leave so quickly. They don't refill water unless you ask, they don't offer dessert, and they are not very friendly. Got to start off by saying the deals here ARE AMAZING. Half off any sushi with cash, and the sushi is actually pretty decent quality. Again, you're not getting premium quality (especially the rice) but the fish is always fresh. I have probably been here 25 times in the last year and never get tired of it. The service is really really bad. Not going to lie. There is one server who is exceptional, he is a male server (the only male server I believe) who works there. Fantastic waiter. However, the rest of the employees almost never refill your drinks and need to be called over to serve you. For me, this is not a problem, since the food is really good and so cheap. Again, fish quality is very very good for the price. Never had a bad experience here, always know what to expect. Menu options are plentiful and service is relatively fast. I've been ordering sushi from Masago for about 3 years, and they've consistently delivered to my house in Madison. I've never had a problem with customer service and the food has almost always been excellent (I've had a dud meal once in a while, but that happens sometimes no matter where you go). A few days ago (January, 2019) I placed another call for delivery. Once the woman pulled up my information and took my order, the total came out to a lot more than I usually pay. When I asked about the extra cost, she said I live 4.5 miles away and the driver complained that the drive was too far. She told me I've only ordered three times and the other times they didn't charge me. Now they were going to make me pay a surcharge of $5 or more on top of my bill. I tried to explain that I've been ordering there for a few years, and she cut me off and said she didn't have time to argue. I cancelled the order and will not do business with them again. I'm not sure why she gave me the bad attitude like that over the phone. I did enjoy their sushi, but I will find some a little closer to home. read more
