After coming to a private event here, I have to update my thoughts! We came for a friend's birthday dinner and now I'm going to tell everyone I can that renting the loft space (with a full bar!) is the perfect birthday dinner plan. There was a full bar, plenty of table space, and wonderful, wonderful service. Our bartender was seriously great, and the owner came up to chat and help multiple times! We had the vegan tacos with plantain and red cabbage, chicken tacos, and al pastor tacos. All wonderful! The meat was perfectly done and the tortillas were deliciously homemade. Chips, salsa, and queso were served and the chips are some of the best I've had. A bit greasy, but so worth it, the crisp and slight salty flavor made them! The drinks were on another level. If you come for no other reason (although idk why you would), come for the drinks!! This is one of the most amazing Mexican-inspired craft cocktail drink menus I've ever seen or experienced. See the photos for more deets. The mole takes manhattan was a drink -experience- with the mole washed mezcal, tajin flavored oranges, and chocolate piece. I'm sorry we didn't get here sooner - this new restaurant is delightful. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, the drinks and food are excellent, and the staff are kind and attentive. The drink menu has a number of interesting options, including a slushie. I chose the Paloma which was excellent. We love love loved the chips with salsa and queso. Highly recommend. Tamales rotate seasonally, and include vegetarian/vegan options. We tried the funza tamales, a twist in a local flavor profile - delicious! Do not overlook the black beans, which are quite flavorful. I appreciated the flavors and crunch of the chicken taquitos, and happily took half of mine home to continue enjoying tomorrow. This was just as good as I heard it'd be! They have a unique selection of tamales, tacos, tortas, appetizers, and more. The cocktails are strong and refreshing. My agave spritz was very strong with black licorice hints and packed with mint. The Luna Marg is their house marg and they fill it full of tequila! The chips n dip to start were perfect for a group. They supply a large amount of freshly fried chips, with 2 yummy salsas and 1 creamy queso. We added on the asparagus guac and really enjoyed it. I've never had anything like it. It was thick and rich just like guac, but still hinted of asparagus flavor. My chicken taquitos were a great meal. Full of chicken and topped with fresh veggies. The classic torta was well loved. It was crispy and hot and filling. 2 tacos was also very filling and good size for one person. They have a good amount of seating, and also have an upstairs. Went to Mass Luna recently to try a new spot! Very great ambiance. Good date night vibe. Service was quick and kind. There was a good variety of drinks on the menu and I really enjoyed my Paloma. The food wasn't my favorite. It's definitely food with a flare of Mexican but not Mexican. The queso was very thick. Once it chilled it could break a chip. The salsa verde was good. The asparagus guacamole was worth a try. I probably wouldn't get again. I enjoyed my chicken taco and thought the pork el pastor taco was decent. I ordered a side of rice and I think it needed a bit more time. Very crunchy. My husband ordered the only tamale option that has meat and it was unique. Not what you would expect from a tamale. Overall would I go back? Maybe. The menu is just odd in my opinion. But it's a nice place. Id maybe go for drinks. Not so sure about the food. read more

Another fine bar and restaurant in Little Bohemia, Masa Luna has a lot of space and an upstairs, making it a good choice for a larger event. The bar is long and the bartender we encountered was excellent. We had snacks and enjoyed them. The restaurant looked good. It was very early, so the mob had not arrived yet. Parking is on the street. It IS Little Bohemia. Definitely want to return and try the restaurant. read more

Went to Mass Luna for a date night in Little Bohemia and I love the vibe. The staff is all very friendly and quick to answer any questions you may have. Normally I get the taquitos, but this time I got their special, a carne asada burrito with French fries inside. Truly an amazing combo and I had enough for lunch the next day. read more

A group of friends and I decided to try Masa Luna for the first time after hearing so many great things about it. We got there a little before dinner time, around 5:30, and it was already pretty packed. After a short wait, we managed to grab a table for our group of four. By 6 or 6:30, the place was super busy, and it seemed like the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up with orders. Our food took a little over an hour to come out. We weren't in a rush, so it was fine, but definitely something to keep in mind if you're visiting during peak hours. I really liked the variety on their drink menu and how creative their food options were. Everything we tried was delicious; especially the tamales! I'm usually very picky with beans, but theirs were so flavorful. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Masa Luna especially if you can go when it's not as busy. They're still fairly new, so I'm sure as they find their rhythm, the wait times will get better. read more

So happy there's more and more vegan/gluten free restaurants popping up! We got the chips with vegan queso and roja and verde salsas. Love that they all come together and you don't have to pick. I'm not vegan but my friends are, and I thought the queso was still delicious. I loved the roja salsa and it wasn't spicy at all so don't worry about that. I got the "meaty tamales" aka cochinita pibil - they were super filling and very tasty - my friends who got the vegan ones was also excited about how good hers were. Their drinks were strong but tasty. Service was great, I loved their little booth areas - we felt nice and secluded from everyone else but there's ample space for normal restaurant seating as well! read more

We came in late and only had drinks and snacks, but so far so good! The drinks are on the pricey side ($13/$14 average) but the food is reasonable ($8 for chips, 2 salsas, and queso). Drinks and dips were great... not a huge fan of the chips as they weren't properly crunchy and some were... chewyish? The ambiance is relaxed and cozy with an old school feel, yet it is still modern. Yum! I've been looking for a place like this. Good Mexican food and great drinks. Intimate place with bar seating and a mix of tables and booths. Didn't have a chance to make it upstairs, but saw they had a pool table and some additional seating. They were busy when we arrived but they got a table cleared quickly. You can order with a server or by scanning the QR code on your table. The QR code is definitely the way to go, put your order in and it goes straight to the kitchen! We had the chips and dips, both salsas were tasty and the queso was the perfect consistency. Also had the "pierogis" WOW DELICIOUS! Filled with chorizo and potatoes. Lastly we had the meat tamale which came withe refried black beans and some veggies. The masa was fluffy and the meat filling busting with flavor. We will be back to try EVERYTHING else on the menu! I visited Masa Luna recently after hearing about it and wanting to check out the concept since I also like Fizzy's and Night Owl from their portfolio. We visited on a Thursday night, and it was pretty busy with events going on in Little Bohemia. The mezzanine was open that night, which is where we sat. When we first walked in, there wasn't much space between the tables and bar seating and we weren't sure if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated. A few staff looked at us walked in but walked away without calling out "seat yourself" or something similar, so we weren't sure what to do. Eventually someone came by and told us as such. We found a table and went to the bar to order our food and drinks. They both came out fairly quickly, with me ordering a margarita and the meaty tamales. I really enjoyed both and thought they were good. The plate of tamales with the sides was pretty big so I ended up taking a bit home. I liked the queso served on the plate. You'll find seating for groups of different sizes, with tables, booths, bar seating both upstairs and downstairs, and a pool table in the mezzanine. The decor is very cool and the place has a fun vibe. We enjoyed our visit, though a little more clarity on seating when you walk in or a staff member letting you know what to do would be good, as standing there confused for a bit while having staff look at us was a bit off putting. If you plan to visit, be aware the restaurant is 21+ at all times. I would come back as I enjoyed the food, drinks, and ambiance, as well as the location right in Little Bohemia. read more

I wanted to love this place so bad. The branding, the vibes - all there. The food and overall experience was just disappointing. We walked in not knowing if it was seat yourself so we asked an employee who said they were not sure and then walked away - honestly pretty hilarious but that's crazy. Our waiter was super friendly.. unfortunately they were out of stock of just about everything on the menu so tacos or a vegan meal were the only options. I always love Al pastor tacos but I couldn't even finish them because the meat was so hard to chew. When we arrived, the ambience was great--especially the downstairs area by the fire, which was warm and inviting. We were told there would be about a 20-minute wait for a table and that we could sit downstairs while waiting. We were also explicitly instructed not to order at the bar, as someone would come take our drink order. After several minutes without service, the hostess let us know a table had opened upstairs, which we appreciated. However, once seated upstairs, we waited another 15 minutes without seeing any staff at all. When someone finally came up, we were told that both drink and food orders needed to be placed at the bar. This directly contradicted what we had been told earlier and was confusing and frustrating. At the bar, we ordered an appetizer and two cocktails: a Luna margarita and a Carajillo. Unfortunately, both drinks were extremely disappointing. It is very unusual for both my partner and me to leave a cocktail unfinished--especially a very small $14 cocktail--and the fact that neither of us could drink more than a few sips speaks to how unbalanced and unpleasant they were. The Luna margarita had a strong chemical taste, while the Carajillo tasted overwhelmingly like straight liquor with little balance. Given the price point, this was particularly frustrating. The one bright spot was the chips and dip, which were excellent. The most significant issue, however, was the upstairs layout. The space is quite small, and the large pool table placed in the center severely disrupted the dining experience. A group of approximately eight people were playing pool, despite not having an actual table to sit at. As a result, they occupied nearly all of the physical space upstairs. The distance between the pool table and surrounding dining tables was uncomfortably tight, and throughout our time there, people were constantly leaning over our table to take shots. At one point, a pool stick nearly hit me. The noise level made conversation difficult, and the overall atmosphere felt chaotic rather than enjoyable. It was frustrating that guests who had waited to be seated at a table were negatively impacted by a large group that did not have seating and was allowed to dominate the space. I'm unclear why a group of that size was permitted upstairs without adequate seating, and it raised questions about whether the upstairs is intended to function as a dining room or a bar. If it's the latter, that should be communicated more clearly to guests who are being seated there for dinner. Given the inconsistent service, uncomfortable atmosphere, and underwhelming drinks, we chose not to order entrées and left. Our total came to $45 for two cocktails we couldn't finish and an appetizer. After reading other reviews, it appears we are not alone in experiencing issues with cocktail quality. I also believe management should seriously consider either removing the pool table or reducing the number of dining tables upstairs. Being seated for dinner while loud, intoxicated guests lean over you for an extended period is an extremely unpleasant dining experience. While I don't necessarily blame the guests--since the pool table was there--it was disappointing that staff never intervened, even when pool sticks nearly hit both guests and staff members. Ultimately, I don't think we'll be returning. There were several menu items that looked appealing, but at this price point, I'm not willing to risk such a consistently negative experience again. read more

We've tried multiple tacos, tortas, specials, and dips, and have become obsessed with the house torta, queso/salsa options, and fish tacos. The staff is friendly, attentive, and a total vibe. They're a great fit for Little Boho, and I'm excited to see how the rest of the neighborhood expands around staple spots like Masa. Food ... when you could get some was good. But WOW....after over an hour we gave up. And the service while friendly was so horribly slow and they were totally distracted. We only had the chips and queso and it was good but clearly not enough for dinner. I know this place is new, but I couldn't recommend it and wouldn't drive into town to go again. And please don't use the excuse, it's Friday. Be prepared for your customers. There is a lot of great competition in Omaha, don't bother with Masa Luna. read more

I kind of had a love/hate relationship with masa luna after my first visit, but I loved way more than I hated, so I will for sure be back. First off, the things I loved, the unique menu, the setting of the restaurant, and the extremely friendly staff. The menu was very eclectic, I just wish there was more food on it. All the food I had was very good, the el pastor tacos and the chorizo pierogis were definitely highlights, plus the chips and salsa were next level, some of the best housemade chips I've ever had, they were thick, warm, and amazing. The staff was also very kind, everyone was warm and helpful and smiling, I really appreciate that. Now for the things I didn't like as much, the food was pretty expensive for what it was, the menu is too small in my opinion, and the delivery of our orders was very haphazard. Someone in our group would order something and get it in 10 minutes, other items would be ordered 10 minutes prior and come out 30 minutes later, there was very little rhyme or reason to it, but hopefully that will get corrected as they continue to figure things out. I will definitely be back, ultimately this is a unique and tasty place. read more

Went to Masa Luna on a Friday around 7:30pm, waited roughly 30 minutes for a pitcher of margaritas (over $50), waited another 30 for the chips and salsa with guac (which isn't traditional guac and not described on the menu), then another 30 minutes or so for 4 tacos and a tamale. The chips and salsa were comped by the manager who was apologetic, however I have a difficult time spending $115 on less than average food with a wait time of over an hour and 30 minutes. Fun place with a tight, very well thought out menu. Everything I tried was fantastic. It's an open seating 21+ establishment. I ordered and paid for my food and drinks just using the QR code at my table but it seemed like there were people taking orders and payments the traditional way if that's more your speed. I skipped the chips and got their Masa Focaccia with a couple extra salsas instead. Did not regret it. Sierra Madre Daiquiri, and the Mole Takes Manhattan were well balanced, delicious, and delivered faster than I expected. Already planning my next visit. Thanks Jillian! read more

Masa Luna is a great date night spot! I arrived as a party of two, sat ourselves and were greeted immediately. The staff were super friendly and were fairly attentive. The taquitos were absolutely to die for. Perfectly crunchy with a yummy queso and salsa combo that is balanced perfectly. Also had the chicharones starter and it absolutely blew me out of the water. The mole takes manhattan was a very adequate cocktail and the accoutrement that comes with it pairs perfect. YUM! This place is exactly what Omaha needed. The food, service, drinks, and atmosphere are top notch. I started with the luna marg and the chips and dip. The margarita was perfect (I added haberno for some spice) and every salsa I've tried there tastes so fresh. I am vegan and so happy to have a mexican restaurant with so many options for me. The fauxrizo tacos are amazing. My date (not vegan) tried them and loved them too. They have a pumpkin flan (vegan) for dessert which was delicious. We live 40 minutes away and planned our day around visiting this restaurant. We arrived at open on a Saturday a little after 4pm, which was later than we wanted to eat that day, but we wanted to try this new recommended place. We walked in and were told it was a busy Friday night, and they only have chips to serve until 5pm. We sat down to decide what to do for a few minutes and realized we were not wanted based on the fact they did not offer drinks within the first few minutes. Here's the question, what kind of excuse is; we had a busy day yesterday? Isn't that what you want, customers? Were you out of food so much that you couldn't offer simple appetizers between 4pm and 5pm? Were there no cooks? I will set the clock on how long this place stays open if a busy night means limiting (the already limited) hours the next day. In addition, some friends were excited about going yesterday, but it was closed. Trini's in the old market is a good staple and alternative. read more
