I love Marylou's Coffee! this location is very convenient and offers drive-thru. The staff are incredibly friendly and prompt. the prices are affordable and the coffee is far better than Dunkin. 4 stars because the drive-thru window broke during one of my recent visits and the chip reader for cards also appeared broken on another visit. Invest in new equipment management because the staff are awesome here and deserve decent equipment and working conditions! read more

This place is known for their "dessert" coffees. Not being a fan of sweet whipped creamy drinks I'd never tried it before. Driving by the Seasons Market today I figured, why not? Inside, it's Voodoo Donuts hot pink, so I'm already loving it. The bags for packaging up any of the decent-looking pastries had a black and white checkerboard trim that make me think of the See's Chocolate shops in LA. Another favorite brand here folks! Clean counter space, several friendly women behind the counter; service was personalized and fast. I had a combination drink that was the favorite of one of the women behind the counter. It was an iced coffee mix of mocha and something almond. My partner got just a basic iced coffee, cream no sugar. Both drinks came on the dark side, with less cream than expected; his was also a bit light on coffee flavor. The basic iced had the disappointing taste of leftover hot coffee put in the fridge to"ice" - stale. Wish he'd seen the cold brew sign before ordering. My mocha/almond was introduced as "not too sweet," but sweet was the first thing I noticed at sip one. The mocha flavor was pleasant, but I barely tasted any almond. All in all, a bit of a meh. Some of the best coffee comes from Marylou's! This location is nice, very convenient and clean. I often come here for gas or a Redbox and will get a coffee while I'm there. There is a drive thru as well but I usually go inside as I don't always know what to order. The menu and large and different from most coffee shops. I recommend the Twix iced coffee or french vanilla hot coffee. I also love the strawberry frosty Lou! It's loaded with calories and sugar but yum so worth it!! Unlike Massachusetts MaryLou's, their staff is less "Hooters" themed and more girl-next-door themed. I don't know why I care to mention this other than the fact that the trashy commercials tend to offend people into not stepping into this place. With that said, I've always loved the ice coffee at MaryLous. If you get your coffee regular at Dunkin Donuts, you probably won't like the coffee here (my boyfriend doesn't). If you like flavored coffee, you'll have a great selection here. What they do really well are breakfast sandwiches. Like DD they use frozen eggs, but the bagels and cheese are a hundred times better. Hot chocolate is also good here and the drive-thru is never packed like at DD around the corner. The girls here have gone above and beyond to create a unique flavor for me several times. Homegirl is no night owl. Nay. Homegirl is a morning dove. With feathers white as winters first snow, Homegirl rises and sings heavens' song as dawn breaks. Homegirl is remarkably quite graceful in the morning, but prefers a shot of caffeine to ruffle up her feathers and give her that quintessential edge. While initially Homegirl is turned off by the all pink ,frilly, poi peri marketing, I will give all things coffee related a chance. First off: holy flavor-o-lee. Just about every flavor imaginable. Some are sweetened while others are infused into the coffee bean. The last thing Homegirl needs is a squirt of sugar ladened goop. Homegirls hips are growing just -thinking- about it. The bean infused flavors are a holla for homegirls dolla. Some are stronger than others so just ask the staff what's best. The other reviewer was spot on when she referred to Marylou's as not for people who do not like flavored coffee. I think the fundamental problem is not with Marylou's but with people's understanding for coffee, and what they think they need. Marylou's is more of a place to get a "shake" type treat than a place for coffee. Similar to Starbucks you must drown the coffee in sugar and milk/cream for it to taste good. This is great if you're looking for a plethora of flavored syrups to choose from. The problem is that most people do not think they like coffee itself because they have been fed Folger's and Mr. Coffee. No one has been around to teach anyone the difference. Therefore, since people do not like the taste of coffee alone (that rancid Mr. Coffee stuff) they assume that to drink coffee they must add sugar and fat to make it yummy. While I like sugar and fat as much as the next guy, it is not true that you must add those things to enjoy coffee. My issue with Marylou's is their a) annoying commercials and more importantly b) the slogan "best coffee in town". You are not the best coffee in town, especially in East Providence. Some places know coffee and actually care about it (Seven Stars). Marylou's uses automatic espresso machines like Starbucks because these require no training! Good for profits and consistency, but terrible for a product. The stuff that comes out of them is incredibly offensive, I promise you. They have no knowledge of coffee - zip, zero, zilch. They have a bazillion flavored coffees but two non-flavored varieties. Burnt beans and less burnt beans. Less burnt beans is okay, but once it cools you can really taste the bad coming out. I'm not sure where they get their coffee or how fresh it is - which brings me to another point in response to the other person's review. Most people do not understand what "fresh coffee" means. You can roast a bean and it will begin to degrade. You can let that bean sit for about 10-15 days before it has lost it's ability to be amazing. For espresso, it takes a little longer but the concept is the same. For drip it will lose its inherent flavors. So, for coffee to be fresh it needs to have been roasted very recently, stored in whole bean form in an airtight container, then ground to order. Yes, ground right before it's made and do think Marylou's does this. The greater surface area that is exposed to air lets it go stale that much faster. On top of that you have to know what you doing when you make it. Mr. Coffee will not suffice. Ratios have to work and the water has to be clean. So I have my doubts that anything at Marylou's is fresh. It doesn't have to be, they mix it with sugar and milk like Starbucks. But they are making money... During my visit I received a cup that was flawed and my gross coffee spilled onto my lap. read more

I like this location, the girls are always friendly and there's never an outrageous line. Also they don't get annoyed if I ask for recommendations - it's a bit overwhelming at Marylou's as there are so many fabulous options. I like the iced Twix, Girl Scout cookie and Funky Fanabla. These are specialty coffee combinations with syrups and such but they do have flavored bean iced and hot coffees without syrups. There's also a good assortment of foods such as breakfast sandwiches, baked goods (muffins, cupcakes, donuts). read more

This may be the worst coffee in America. They tout the huge selection of flavored coffees, but if you don't get them loaded with cream and sugar, you're asking for trouble. For those of you who (like me) absolutely adore sugary, sickeningly, nigh cloyingly sweet coffee beverages: REJOICE, FOR YOU HAVE REACHED THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY (LITERALLY)! For those of you who (like less than 10% of American coffee drinkers, and sometimes me) actually appreciate the delicate, precise art of roasting and brewing fine coffee: TURN BACK BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE! That said, there are a few things I particularly appreciate about Marylou's. The first is that they brew their coffee flavors, which is about a billion times better than the yucky syrups at DD/Starbucks. The second is that the brand of soy milk that they use is creamy and delicious, unlike that of Starbucks. When I get an iced soy latte, no matter how many shots of machine-brewed espresso I choose to dump in it, I feel no need to add massive, coma-inducing quantities of sugar. This is a big deal. I ALWAYS put sugar in my iced coffee. ALWAYS. Things I don't like include the scary pink walls that stave me off from ever actually setting foot in the place and send my sensitive eyes into shock as well as their weird iced "mocha", the contents of which I cannot figure out myself and refuse to inquire into. I have heard of these legendarily risque, annoying commercials, but thankfully I have never been exposed to them myself, and I have never noticed anything remotely inappropriate about the girls I have dealt with. read more

I kept hearing about this place through the grapevine. I went to get gas today and there was Marylou's. I will take it as fate :). I got the Hazelnut iced coffee with cream and sugar. Delicious. I also got a breakfast wrap with eggs, bacon and cheese which was severely overpriced BUT totally tasty. This is not a place to come if you don't like sweet because everything on their menu screams of diabetes. Overall I wil probably be a regular at this place. This place is like crack!! Its SOOO ADDICTIVE, because it is AMAZING. I've known about Marylous for years now, but this past year I ended up working at the Smithfield one, and a part of the training is to be able to explain each coffee without telling the customers what exactly is in it, so having to do that we got to make and taste almost every coffee, im talking reg. Flavors, specialty and extra specialty. . Now i hace always been pretty simple with my coffees , just iced with cream and sugar, HOWEVER THE NEW ME , has a different coffee EVERYDAY. Well, it's "The Best Coffee in Town!" There is something about those bright pink cups that just gives you the warm and fuzzies inside. For me personally its also some great memories of trips to the South Shore in MA to visit with my roommates family. I love the funky fanabla iced coffee and the Almond joy. Its a fun place with quirky coffee drinks and an intoxicating atmosphere... I'd choose it over Dunkin Donuts crap anyday! read more

I absolutely love Marylou's. After tasting their coffee once, I could not go back to Dunkin' Donuts. The best thing about Marylou's is they flavor their beans, so the flavor is not overpowered by a standard coffee taste. My favorite is the creamy chocolate coconut with soy milk and sugar. If you're dairy free, beware: their extra specialty drinks have whipped cream shaken into them. They are willing to make it without it though. This place kicks so much ass I don't even understand it. The coffee definitely isn't roasted on site but you can tell it's good quality. AND they offer soy milk! Awesome! I just get a regular without sugar instead of one of their flavored options, but I had a Twix one once that was pretty good. Definitely better than Starbucks and DD, but not even close to Coffee Exchange. Still very very good though. And the staff are always nice enough. I have to agree with another commenter! The prices are high and the coffee isn't that great! The girls are extremely chatty! I stood at the counter just waiting to see how long it would take for them to tend to me! Finally I was annoyed so I called out to them. I really wanted to try this place because a close friend of mine swears by this place. I tried a few different coffees and didn't like not one. The good thing about this place is if you don't like your coffee they will keep making a new one until you are satisfied lol I was tired of waiting for them to get it right so after the 3rd try I gave up. read more

Coffee is ok and service was pretty fast. I didn't like that they automatically added cream to my ice coffee so I had to be the jerk to make them remake it black. It was better than Dunkin donuts but I didn't realize it was inside a shell station until I walked up. Somewhat hard to chill out in a gas station. This morning though, the wait was absolutely ridiculous in the drive thru and on top of it once I got to the window she made me repeat my order and then another girl came over and made me repeat it a third time. I have no idea who is in charge here but things really need to change.
