As much as we love Galiana's (owned by same group), we struggle to enjoy Marvino's. We have been twice and both times we had below average service and sub-par food. I have a policy that I do not provide a review after the first visit. On the most recent visit, we were at our table for over 10 minutes before anyone greeted us. It was not a busy night. We have a theory that the less crowded a place is, the more lackadaisical the service becomes. When we did get some service, they were friendly and attended to our requests. The calimaria was average as it lacked seasoning. I started to wonder if I lost my ability to taste. My wife had the Fettuccine Alfredo and I had spaghetti and meatballs. My wife described her dish as tasting like leftovers; meaning that the pasta was not fresh and the consistency was similar to glue. My meatball dish was not good and it is difficult to describe why. Perhaps is was the blandness of the entire dish or the fact that it was not very warm. We both ate less than half of our dishes before calling it a total loss. We would have loved to talk to someone about the experience, but we were left alone for much of the visit. Also, please do not have tables next to the leftover boxing station. That is pretty gross. There is potential here as the restaurant is very nice and atmosphere is perfect for family events, meetings, and special occasions. In order for us to return, the service and food must improve. read more

Love this place! The oysters Rockefeller are amazing! The staff is always friendly and make great wine selections

We stayed away for while since we've had a couple of bad service experiences in the past but we thought we'd give it another try tonight. It started out good. The hostesses were friendly but that's were it ended. It took a while for our server to get to our table and give us a menu. We placed our appetizer order and drinks. We asked for a few minutes so we can look over the menu for our entrees. Our server Carmen never mentioned that they ran out of a few things on the menu. So after going back and forth, we finally decided to both order Ravioli Di Aragosta. That's when our server said they ran out it. So we said we'll both have the Ravioli Di Manzo but we're told they ran out of those too. We should have been told in the beginning so we didn't waste time looking at the menu then be told they ran out. We finally picked 2 other items on the menu. The Marvino's Frutti Di Mare and Veal Marvino's. When our dinner came, they had chicken Marvino's instead of the veal. Our server never came to tell us they'll redo it whatsoever nor apologize for getting the order wrong. The food runner just took the entree back. Our server Carmen was nowhere to be found. I looked for her to let her know we'll just share my dinner because we didn't want to wait any longer but couldn't find her. We also wanted to ask for Parmesan cheese and refills for our drinks. When she brought the refills she had the drinks wrong. I got up again to look for her. When I informed her about the drinks, she rolled her eyes as she walked away. At least wait until the customer can't see you before you roll your eyes. Their service used to be one of the best in the area but that's not the case anymore. Unfortunately this was the icing on the cake. The food might be good but if service is mediocre at best it won't be worth it. We won't be back anymore. read more

Mother's Day... a day to remember with Mom. WELL.. Arrived was told it would be 45min. wait. No problem. We went to the bar ordered a round of beers GM served us. Table became available in 5min. Still no problem. We ordered dinner. OUT of Snapper... and down hill from here. Ordered 3 Tour of Italy. Plates came to the table. 1. Filet Mignon 5oz Med.rare correct. 2. Filet Mignon was butterfly (well done) didn't order it that way). Incorrect 3. Filet Mignon 2 oz well done. Steak being passed off as a filet. INCORRECT. Call to speak to Mgr. Assistant came to table took plates to get them corrected. Then he came back to the table and here's what he said. We are all out of Filets... I said what kind of steak are you going to replace it with, he said your choice. I said just give us 2 NY strips. I was being nice ordering a lesser steak for the same price. He returns to the table and says it's going to cost an additional $21 a plate. That is when I got passed off. First of all your out of snapper, pork chops and filet mignon and you want me to pay for your incompetence. I don't think so.. Then I find out the GM is in the building.. He comes over introduce himself as Jr. (the bartender that served us). I explain to him how his team POORLY handled the situation. He apologized comp the ticket which 2 of us never ate. What a mess! Let me start with the good...the crab cakes are excellent!!! I honestly should have just ate that, and the Peroni on draft was nice and cold and moderately priced. However, our "special" was the mahi mahi. Since the crab was so good, we thought for sure this would be as well. Mahi should be white and flaky, but this was dry and a grayish color like it had been frozen for some time. By the time the food finally came it was easier just to eat the crab and shrimp that came with it. Our waiter was extremely slow at everything and at one point argued with my sis-n-law as to what beer she wanted. He kept telling her instead of listening to her order then finally said "alright, fine" you can have the beer you selected. We had a very large party so you would think at some point he would ask if we needed separate checks or at least expect this. By the time the bill came (a whole hour after we requested they be split) it was a huge mess. Everyone's tickets were wrong AND they had the nerve to charge 20% to our bill for the tip. The manager did comp this after my husband and several other people complained as our service was awful. Also when we arrived the hostess was cuddling with one of the waiters and I didn't think much of it since it was slow (on a Saturday) but he continued to stay there at the hostess stand just holding her and flirting. It was awkward and unprofessional so that should have been a red flag. Unfortunately we won't be back, the service is awful and we were scared to digest the $30 mahi. read more

This is a great spot for fine dining Italian style. They offer pasta, steaks, and seafood, with a large variety of wine. The salads are super fresh and the dressings savory. I tried the special - Chilean sea bass topped with a lump crab sauce - and it was delicious. My dining partners had chicken Parmesan and pasta with veggies, and they loved their food. The staff all wore masks, and they seated us in a booth far from other customers. Our server, Christopher, was very attentive. Overall a great experience. Can't wait to go back. read more

Disappointing. Ordered a large pizza that was shoved inside 2 small boxes for delivery. The ingredients, crust, everything, disappointing.

My boyfriend loved his plate. I got a house salad that was overly soggy. It's not bad. Very over priced.

I last left a review in 2018 and wanted to update my experience. Again, still scratching my head on the 3.5 stars? I travel all over the US for work and eat at many fine restaurants; this is still a rock solid choice for consistent quality. UPDATE: Our daughter recently married and we (bride and groom) where searching for a nice place for a rehearsal dinner. There are really no places in Cypress that can host an event such as a rehearsal dinner outside of Marvino's. Marvino's has several rooms that accommodate small to large parties; we had about 70 people. With that said, the feedback from everyone was "outstanding venue, excellent food, great wine selections". Being a "foodie" I was worried on such a large gathering the food would be cold or over cooked. Let me tell you, we had Branzino Fish, Marvino's Chicken and Fillet Steak for the choices. ALL WHERE OUTSTANDING! I had the chicken, my wife and daughter had the fish and the grooms parents had the steak. The Chicken was solid and just like I order when by myself. The fish... let me just say the fish was cooked to perfection! I was shocked and amazed how flaky, warm and tasty the fish was. Not sure how they pulled that one off but, kudoo's to the team. The steak; well, I heard nothing but rave reviews on the steak as well. Perfectly cooked, to order. Some rare, some well done and some medium. You just don't usually get that on large parties! Do your self a favor and give them a try again. If you had a bad experience in the past, go back and give them a try. If you haven't been yet - go. Well done TEAM! Thank you for a wonderfully prepared and a phenomenally executed party. read more

The order took for ever, but it did not bother me because I ordered the Berkshire Pork Chop so I know the pork has to be well done, but when I got it it was raw in the middle. They were nice and finished cooking it but it was too late I have eaten a pice already. read more

I was initially very impressed upon coming in. Beautiful venue, clean and impressive modernist Italian decor, and a nice and elegant bar area. Sadly, the food and service did not match the quality of the decor of the restaurant. The menu is nebulous, with no cohesiveness and dozens of options all loaded into one page. I ended up ordering a very underwhelming veal Marsala that just looked like a disaster on a plate. The other dishes ordered by my party were bland as well. The service was quite poor, and our server seemed flustered and was not at all friendly. While I love supporting local businesses, the amatuer quality of this restaurant does not match the price point. They need to either lower the prices or raise the standards, as there is much better choices a few exits closer into the city. read more

Marvino's - Very poor presentation. Marsala sauce does not look appetizing - Italian Near Me - Cypress, Texas

Went there last night for a take-out Valentines Day dinner. I've been wanting to try this place many times because I pass by it often on my way home from work. Ordered I the Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Italian Wedding Soup, my husband had the Veal Marsala and the Minestrone soup. Alfredo sauce so bland and frothy in my mouth I couldn't eat it. The soup was watered down, no flavor, the meatballs were so pale I was afraid to eat them, my husband spooned me some of the Minestrone soup to taste and the consistency of the soup was so thick in the spoon I didn't even attempt it. My husband who will eat almost anything said the veal was overcooked in addition not cooked correctly, cut up carrots and broccoli in Veal Marsala? The only think I finished was the crème brûlée. Off night perhaps? I might try them again, but not in the near future. read more

First the good: The restaurant is very nice and clean. The service is fast. Now the bad... I ordered the Ravioli do Manzo and it tasted like fish. It's not a seafood item, it's ravioli stuffed with pork so wtf. I kindly asked for it to be replaced with something basic like fettuccini Alfredo which was just that, basic. When I got the check the Ravioli wasn't removed (it costs 4$ more). I not the cheapest guy in the world but don't try to finesse people out of their money, that was the last straw. Overall bland food, if you like seafood, the pork ravioli gets a bonus flavor of it. read more

Tonight I was taken for dinner to Marvino's and told I could order anything on the menu I wanted. I selected Ciopinno, which is one of my favorite dishes. Cioppino is a fish stew, a descendant of the various regional fish soups and stews of Italian cooking. Traditionally, its ingredients are crabs, mussels, scallops and tilapia fish. Marvino's served this dish with tiny mussels (nearly microscopic) and a few frozen calamari rings, sans the scallops and tilapia. Where was the crab, the scallops and the tilapia I wondered. For $ 25.00 this dish was a huge disappointment. My guest ordered Linguini Fruiti Di Mar E ("Fruits of the Sea" = mussels, shrimp, scallops and calmari), which she said was overcooked and rubbery. Where was the shellfish? The dish was a plate of pasta with a scant amount of shellfish; certainly not the abundance of "the fruits of the sea" that the recipe requires. Our check for two with wine came to over $ 80.00 and we concurred that both dishes were unfulfilling and not up to par for the prices this restaurant charges. Moreover, our server (Arianna) was a roboserver lacking in charisma and devoid of any understanding of the menu who was merely focused on upselling drinks and desert. Suffice it to say that our dining experiencing was lackluster. I won't be back to Marvino's anytime soon and do not recommend this restaurant for myriad reasons. The Marvino's website proclaims they the following: ITALY IS OUR PASSION...ITALIAN FOOD AND CULTURE! WE ARE INSPIRED BY ITALIAN BEAUTY AND THEIR APPRECIATION AND ZEST FOR LIFE. Regrettably, in this writer's humble opinion Marvino's is anything but the foregoing. Thumbs down. read more

We had a Christmas Eve dinner at this place and despite the heavy crowd, the server worked quickly and the food surprisingly came out on a timely manner (we had 8 people at the table)! We had the spinach artichoke dip - which was delicious. My dish was the cheesy beef ravioli with the minestrone soup. The ravioli was definitely really cheesy, but the short ribs inside were delicious! Definitely recommended for those who love cheesy food. My husband had the veal Parmesan and really loved it. He took some home as leftovers, heated it up the next day and said it still tasted really good! read more

04/15/2021 - I wanted to treat my wife and a friend to some good Italian and I thought we would try this place. It has a nice ambience, the salads were fresh, large and pleasing. Our waiter, Chris was professional, My wife ordered the Lasagna, our friend had the Chicken Marvino and I ordered the Liguine Pescatore. I am a retired Hotel and Country Cub Chef, I know good food and how to cook good Italian. I was impressed the large portions, the Lasagna was delicious, the Chicken was tender and the sauce was a delight. My pasta and sauce was very good, the shrimps were plumb and tender, but I was very displeased with the calamari and clams. The calamari was like chewing on a rubber band, I was served 4 unopen clams. They were dead clams. I returned my plate and told Chris that the calamari was extremely over-cooked and told him that calamari cooks very fast saute for not more than 2 minutes & my clams were not fresh. When Chris returned with the new version and it was exactly the same. I called for the manager and he agreed & he would speak with the cook. How can anyone hire a cook who doesn't know how to cook clams or calamari which is on the menu. If I'm going to pay good money for a dish, please, make it edible. read more

Just had dinner here last night and it was disappointing. Hadn't been since the initial opening a few years back, and I remember thinking it was much better then. We we're a group of 11 people and got seated in the separate back room which was appreciated. Our waiter was more than attentive and provided great service. I ordered the lasagna and it honestly wouldn't be surprised if it came from a Stouffer's box. The portion was massive but it was slapped on the plate. My gf ordered the chicken Alfredo and she also wasn't impressed. For the prices they're charging you're better off going somewhere better. I will say the two desserts we tried were great. read more

Meeting my brother for a quick dinner - knew we'd be fast; plenty of time to be in and out before closing. Our waiter Jose seemed unsure of us - clearly sizing us up when we ordered water to drink. He made it clear in his body language & tone that free ice water wasn't what we should be drinking. We each ordered cheese ravioli with caprese salad starters, no alcohol, no dessert - like I said, it was always meant to be a quick dinner - but as soon as we didn't order alcohol or a pricier main course, Jose might as well have sighed, thrown the menus, and turned on his heel. It was VERY obvious he wasn't pleased with our relatively inexpensive order & the fact we walked in 45 min to close. Then the salads came. He just kind of tossed them in the table and asked if we were good as he was walking away. I tried to be logical; I thought perhaps I was just being sensitive. I looked at my brother "did I imagine that?" I asked him. "Nope." He said as he side eyed Jose & took a big bite. We were hungry, so annoyance was overtaken by the need to eat. "Let it go" I thought. We hurriedly dig into our starters - good thing too, as we were shoveling food in our mouths, the main courses - two bowls of cheese ravioli - were dropped on the table less than 3 minutes after the salads were presented. Ok. We didn't order the fancy stuff & you close at 9:30. We aren't the only people in the restaurant. You aren't closed yet. Give it a rest, man. We get it. Jose walked away to grab the Parmesan grinder. "You want cheese?" "Sure" I mumble through a bite of my salad. He starts to grind over the ravioli I ordered. The grinder sticks. He tries to grind again. It sticks again...and ::cue slow motion:: then a piece of the grinder - a black, plastic cylinder that looked a bit like a thimble - flies off and splat, lands in my ravioli. As I'm processing the situation, "did that just...is he going to..." Jose reaches down with his index finger and plucks the plastic piece out of my food. ...And then Keeps. On. Grinding. My brother and I just look at each other. I'm dumbstruck. My brother is trying not to laugh. "You want cheese?" Jose asks him. "Um. No." He says, stifling a guffaw. Jose then walks off. You drop plastic in my food, retrieve it With. Your. Finger. and we're just calling it good? No way, Jose. I'm about to have a finger of my own for you, sir. It was clear Jose could care less about any of it, and I'm either going to make a scene or I'm just out of luck with the situation. I contemplate all of this as my "finger food" gets cold. "Let it go. It's fine" I say through gritted teeth. I decide to eat everything on the right side of the bowl. I left everything that made direct "plastic" or "finger" contact, or was "plastic" or "finger" contact adjacent in the bowl, "untouched." (Ha. You see what I did there?) We were done eating at 9:18pm. I asked for the check. $42 bill. So...I am paying for my plastic/finger ravioli...am I shocked though? Why should I expect otherwise? Again...I debated. Do I say something? I'm not wrecking the remaining patrons meals. Jose doesn't give a crap that we're here, doesn't care about any of this, & I'm just going to raise my blood pressure trying to teach someone who has no clue that they're indeed clueless. I decided my sanity wasn't worth getting pissed off about the situation and potentially wrecking other people's evenings (But I was already contemplating writing out my thoughts via a social media review. Yeah...I know. It's a passive aggressive move...But here we are.) I paid cash, and even though it galled me, I tipped $18 on that $42 ticket - I know - I should have told Jose to go suck an egg with his poopy attitude, but I reasoned that fighting a bad attitude with another bad attitude just escalated things and solves nothing. So I was passive aggressive (again) tipping almost 50% on horrendous service. We walked in late-ish, but we acknowledged it, ordered fast, and ate quickly. We left with other patrons still eating before the stated closing time of 9:30. Even if we hadn't done that, being openly treated with distain, having my food violated TWICE...And not offering to replace it because, I can only assume, it was too close to closing and you, Jose, didn't want us to stay longer than absolutely necessary?...and then not comp'ing it either because...yeah. I have no idea. I could have demanded better service and not resorted to posting on social media...but should I have to do that? I have to tell you not to be an a-hole, not to put your finger in a patron's dinner, or charge them for it when you do? I have to explain that? Really?! We walked out at 9:25pm, Jose was standing by the door with a gentleman I can only assume was the manager on duty, and he said, in the sweetest, nicest possible voice "thank you, have a very good night." So yeah, $18 tip later, we got the nice Jose we were looking for all along. So that happened. read more

Tried this place one more time. The service was terrible. Had to ask five times for a basket of bread. Another server brought us a basket that had 3 pieces of stale bread. Skipped the appetizers. I ordered the tour of Italy? Flavor was good but for the pasta you got two fork fulls of overcooked spaghetti. The steak was good but the chicken is advertised as having jumbo shrimp on top. Yes there was one tiny shrimp. The dessert was good but overpriced. Will absolutely not be back. The place is way over rated and pricey. read more

This was an amazing experience! I was nervous about the dining experience because of the previous reviews but I was impressed. Service was excellent and the wait staff was very helpful. Everyone's food was average tasting except my husbands steak, which he loved. The sweet ice tea was basically sugar water. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant!!! We were given a basket of bread that had already been eaten out of! There was a piece buried down in the basket and had a bite out of it with butter on it. When we told the waitress she acted like it was no big deal and took it away. The person that brought us the bread continued to pace by our table at least 20 times back and forth. The Spaghetti and Meatballs was another story. The Meatballs were, well, gross. Dry and had excess spice. The spaghetti noodles were cooked OK, but there was no tomato sauce. I have ordered from Marvino's before, usually with good results. Tonight, I ordered from Uber Eats because they were offering Buy One, Get One Free on wedge salads. I haven't gotten my food yet but based on the homemade bread, fresh salad and the best EVER olive oil to dip my bread... This place is A KEEPER!!! I could bathe in this olive oil. I had to ask what was in it because I've NEVER tasted so many herbs and spices in an oil do before! Omg!!!!!! My picture was of the dip after I murdered it! My God... My breath is full of garlicky goodness. Hallelujah for visiting the Mt of Olives!!!! OK, now that the food has come... My God from Heaven!! I'm allergic to dairy and told the waitress Jessica (whose awesome btw). I ordered the snapper. The cook completely changed my food to fit my restriction. The snapper was cooked originally in Parmesan but it didn't say that on the menu. He grilled it in Pomadora (sic) sauce and just took it on his own hands! Hubby got the chicken fettuccine. When he tasted his food he said "Oh my God". I personally think he had a mini orgasm! It was simple yet delicious, exactly like the other person on yelp said. OK, so my fish was expertly seasoned but it was fishy. I felt so bad because the cook made it FOR Me. But Jessica came to my rescue. The food left alot to be desired. The appetizer, a salmon dip came out with only 4 pieces of garlic toast, so we had to finish the dip with our forks.
