If you want bland unimaginative italian food and poor service come to Marvino's. Severely disappointed. They claim their pasta is made fresh in house but I highly doubt this as the pasta was not only stale but over cooked and it seemed like it was cooked with a whole stick of butter and no seasoning. I will not come back. read more

I stopped by to get an order to go. I ordered Lasagna for one. $27.56! No salad. Bread with butter, but no flavor. Lasagna was cold and the flavor was bland. I can't believe this place is still in business. Unfortunately, my first time here will be my last. read more

We have tried to like Marvino's, but last night was the last straw. We had a party of six and an 8:30 reservation. The hostess half heartedly greeted us as we told her we were there for our reservation. She looked back and forth in a confused manner from the dining room to the hostess counter at least a half dozen times before telling us to follow her to our table. Our waiter was nice, but service was super slow and they weren't even busy. The food was barely warm when it arrived and tasted ok at best. For the price point, it was very disappointing. Then came the drama to split the check 4 ways. We were told that the manager had to give permission to split the check. In all the places I have ever dined, I'd never encountered that. We proceeded to explain how to split up the check repeatedly and the waiter ended up avoiding our table. It's a little after 10:00pm, we are the last people left in there and it's like they were in no rush to take our payments. We just wanted to get out of there so everyone could close up and go home. Finally at almost 10:30 we were able to pay our separate checks and go home. Safe to say we will never go to Marvino's again. read more

This review isn't about food rather service!! Gabriel absolutely sucked and when. It Was brought to his attention he gave excuses! My husband and I are business owners so save it! He was completely bland and has no personality to begin with. But we can't change that. The issue is he was completely inattentive!! He kissed ass to another table close to us and completely neglected our table. I ordered a coffee drink after dinner and after 20 mins it never came. The other guy that was helping him was great! Didn't catch his name. I didn't bother leaving a tip because he came to the table with excuses. I didn't take my leftovers because after 20 mins of waiting for it to get packed up I didn't want it! We got there around 630 and 2 hours later we left because service was completely slow! Glad we didn't have any other plans! Based on food I would definitely return!! I had the lasagna and my husband had the redfish and everything was great! Prices are good also! Gabriel work on your customer service and stop making excuses!! read more

First off I would like to say our waiter Michael was very knowledge about the menu. And was very kind . We have not been in the restaurant since before Covid. We usually dine at Dario's and Alicia's which is under the same family umbrella. We started off sharing a salad the dressing was lite salad came with cucumbers , tomatoes, black olives , purple onion . It was great starter for a hot afternoon. We were so excited to see that they offered the pepper tuna steak which one of our favorites at Dario's . The chief seared it perfectly and the flavor with the broccolini was amazing. We were not going to order dessert but decide get a cup of coffee and the blackberry crostata with the ice cream it was delicious. If your in the cypress area I recommend giving this family restaurant a try. It was very clean, tables came with white table cloths and nice booths . Very open with high ceilings and a bar in the middle . They wood stove pizza we are going to try that next time . read more

I had celebrated my birthday with several friends and their children on May 4th at Marvinos. I had the Marvino duck and shitake mushroom ravioli with sage cream sauce and chambered glaze. It was the best dish I had in my life. My friends traded tastes, and I enjoyed a bite of their steak, and coconut shrimp. Their deserts were...luscious and moist. I really love cooking and enjoy cuisine from various cultures. I make my own pasta, and make indian curry from scratch, using some elements from my garden. I wish the chef at Marvinos, David, would offer home cooks like me, a cooking lesson to just approach the level of taste he accomplished. The customer service was great as well, we had a very warm and professional waiter named Tom. The atmosphere was elegant, and it was a very special evening. I look forward to enjoying my next pleasurable taste at Marvinos with my family and friends. read more

Went this evening for a date night and was more than satisfied! The waiter (Chris) was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Angelotti Pasta and cleaned the plate, so it's fair to say I highly recommend it. I ordered the Fedelini with Colossal Clump Crab Meat, and it came out still steaming and the crab meat was fresh. If you life seafood, i would try this dish out. My boyfriend ordered the pizza that had pepperoni, chicken, and sausage. The pizza is a pretty large size so we had plenty to take home for leftovers. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night. read more

Have ordered this place more than 8 times on doordash. Today on my way home I wanted to pick it up in person to check out the place. Beautiful place BUT the staff ?! What's wrong with these people. Nobody in the restaurant, not one guest, I walk in and Preston a server is standing there and asked me if I needed anything. I told him I had a togo and he said he will check and walked away. Instead of coming to tell me "hey about 10 more minutes" he decided to chat with a coworker about 30 feet in front of me. After about 5 minutes of curiosity, I approached them saying EXCUSE ME lol come on. And I said "hey about how long?" He then rolled his eyes said hold on if that and walked away. Coming back I asked for something with my order and with another eye roll he goes back to tell them and then disappeared. When I asked the togo guy for his name, he told me Preston was the name of this horrible server with horrible service and I said he was very rude and he just walked away from me. Come on? What is y'all's problem. This is the hospitality industry. Y'all need to fire Preston because he was more interested in gossip then what he's getting paid to do and y'all lost a customer from doordash and in person. Do better. Pathetic. read more

Marvino's is the newest addition from the Herrera family restaurant group that own the nearby Dario's and Alicia's Mexican. Marvino's is a great addition to the Cypress area offering a semi-casual Italian dining experience that reminds me a lot of Carraba's or Grace's back in Houston. We came for dinner on a Friday night with family that lives nearby. The hostess was quick to seat us even with the Friday night rush, in part thanks to restaurant's massive interior space. Interior is decorated like an old world Italian restaurant: textured walls, columns, wine barrels, exposed wood and so forth. The menu covers a lot of Italian staples ranging from Napoletana style pizzas (thin, brick oven pizzas), over a dozen pasta dishes, and roughly 20 "entree" options such as veal Marsala, eggplant paremsan, or snapper milanese. Beyond all that, there's maybe a dozen appetizers and close to the same number of salad options. It's a big menu and you'd be hard pressed to not find something you like. Prices ranged from $13-$16 for pizzas, $14-$20 for pastas and $15-$25-ish for the entrees. Fair price also considering the large portions. Service was friendly and attentive. Both managers working the shift came by at one point or the other to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The main waiter was good enough though pretty new to the gig, it seemed. No major complaints though. All in all, Marvino's is a great option for Italian when in the neighborhood and one I'm sure to return to when back in this neck of the woods. read more

I've been here 3 times now and I am not sure why I keep coming back. Im perplexed. In the three times I've been I have waited excessively long times to be seated, had mediocre food, and horrible desserts. Yet I'm the fool who keeps coming back. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Decorated and staged well. Nice big bar in the middle. I can't comment on the drinks as I haven't really had them yet. But their house cab is good. Their menu is nice sized but like I said, I have yet to be wowed by their food. It's either under or over seasoned. Pasta is over cooked. Just man I am not sure why I keep going. I'm so frustrated with myself. I can't recommend it. Go at your own risk, but know there are better Italian food choices. Oh avoid their tart at all costs. It's dry, poorly sweetened, and is about 2 minutes away from being an nhl certified hockey puck. As a goaltender, I know my pucks and this could be a viable substitution. read more

Went last night to Marvinos Italian steak house, as soon as my husband and I walked in they hostess just looked at us. I responded, did we need to make reservations. ( two young ladies) They responded no. One of them proceeded to take us to our table. Once there an older gentleman was our waiter. You could tell he had an attitude from the beginning. When we ordered a glass of wine, he took awhile to take our order plus it was not busy. Once we received our salad and finished they brought out bread too late. Then our main entree came and he never came back to see if we needed more wine or if everything was ok. The food and dessert was great but service is horrible. This was the first visit and our last. To be honest I felt they were prejudiced. I'm Hispanic and my husband is black. read more

We came here for HRW and were pleasantly surprised by the elegant, spacious atmosphere, delicious food, generous portions and EX service. Quiet but we came during an off-time due to Covid. So good in fact that we came back two weeks later and it was even better (dessert was a bit skimpy but we were full). The lobster bisque was incredible--please add it to your daily lunch menu! Nice to know they serve a $20. biz lunch on their regular menu. Overall one of the better HRW experiences and worth every penny. read more

My wife and I went on a Sunday around 11:30a.m., just before the church crowd started to roll in. The place is beautiful. The decor and setup is exactly how i would want my house to be with travertine tile and dark stained wood trim. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken immediately. Our service was very good and on point the entire visit and the manager checked on us twice cracking small jokes. Our food wasnt too bad, but not any better than Olive Garden especially for the price. I took one star away because of the price and another star away because of the bread. Im the kind of guy that judges the mexican restaurants almost solely on their chips and salsa and I have the tendency to do the same for the bread at Italian restaurants. The bread tasted like a pre made roll from H-E-B, but not even really a good one. Another Yelper said they received two types of bread but we just got one. It was basically a hamburger bun. The olive oil was acceptable but not exceptional. My wife ordered the ravioli and loved it. I ordered the linguini with sausage and meatballs. It was pretty darn good! The sauce and noodles were as expected but the meatball was incredible, if not the best meatball ive ever had. The only thing is that it only came with one meatball and a whole bunch of average tasting italian sausage. Overall, I will return to Marvinos if someone else wants to go there, but it is unlikely that I will ever say "marvinos" when my wife asks me what I want to eat. However, if the bread is improved I would be willing to look past the price of the entrees and maybe I would say "marvinos" when she asks. (Hey Marvinos, try the garlic knots at Adriatic Cafe and just copy those. Its okay, really. They dont get any better!) read more

The overall experience was great! For a party of two at 8:00 pm on a Saturday the wait was 20 minutes, which we found reasonable. Once seated we were great by a very up beat friendly waiter, Chad, who told us the specials and answered any questions we could think of. They have an expansive menu with a great selection for any potentially picky diners. We started with the broccoli Parmesan soup, which was to die for good. Not too salty or heavy. For entrees we had the linguine fruiti di mare (forgive any potential misspellings) and the duck and shiitake mushroom ravioli. The linguine was perfectly cooked and loaded with shrimp, crawfish tails, calamari, muscles, and clams. The ravioli was al dente in a sweet sauce topped with way more mushrooms than you would expect. Everything is priced appropriately especially for the amount of quality food you get. We can't wait to go back!i read more

We waited till all the kinks were worked out with opening a new restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We had heard a couple negatives but we like to make up our own mind. It was awesome. We had a great server Alex and he answered all our questions and gave recommendations....we liked that. Our drinks were constantly refilled and plates were taken quickly as we finished. I saw several plates of fettuccini on the tables so I took that as a favorite for this place. It did not disappoint. He got the veal cannelloni and just raved about it.. Would also have loved to seen manicotti on the menu, just a thought. Great atmosphere, inside and outside dining and courteous staff. Manager was on top of checking the areas and assessing needs. Makes a difference. We will definitely be back. read more

My family decided to go to Marvino's 7/2/21 and we had the worst experience. First of all we sat waiting for someone to service our table for too long, my husband walked over to the hostess and asked if we could get a server to help us. Secondly I ordered a frozen margarita 15mins. later she brings a drink on the rocks. I told her I ordered a frozen drink and she said they didn't have any frozen drinks right now; so she decided on her own to just bring me what she wanted. I told her that she should have let me make my own decision. Lastly the food is not seasoned at all, there is no flavor and it is very low quality. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We came here for an early Christmas dinner with my parents. We tried to find somewhere half was for both of us, so I got on my trusty yelp app and found this place. So we thought we'd give it a try. It was a Saturday night at 6:30PM and we had a party of 5. They DO NOT take reservations, so I was worried we'd have to wait. Lucky us we were actually seated right away! Our server Tiffany greeted us right away with a friendly smile and I found her to be very knowledgeable about the menu. She even handled my 'hard to handle' father quite well! Good job lady - you just made this a 4 star review vs. a 3 star!! The manager (didn't catch his name) was also very nice and stopped in several times to check on things. As far as food goes, it comes out quick! They bring you some amazing warm crusty bread to start with yummy herbed olive oil. It's kinda of addicting, so watch out. We got our calamari before ever even ordering our meals! It was pretty dang good too. It was crispy, well seasoned and just the right consistency (not chewy at all). For dinner I opted for the Linguine with clams. The pasta was cooked well, but I wasn't blown away by this dish. I like my dad's Linguine Fruiti Di Mare a lot more and was wishing I had gotten that instead. It had a ton more flavor for sure, but the pasta was a bit overcooked for my taste. And my step-mom's Eggplant Parmesan was decent too. My man wasn't impressed with his ravioli, but I didn't get a chance to sample that. Our creme brulee was great - really nice crisp top and good vanilla profile! Now here's the thing to remember and think about. If you order a HALF size, you do NOT get a salad. Sure you can order a side salad for $4.00 more or you can just spend about the same for a full order, take some home and still get your salad. *I was super happy Tiffany and I discussed this* The full order wasn't huge by any means, just so you know, but I did have a small amount to take home. So overall not bad. I'd give it more of a 3 star experience for food, but we did have great service, and for that alone over the food, I'll give it 4 stars. Yup management - I suggest you keep Tiffany around. read more

Is this why I got treated the way I did? While the Caucasian couple behind us got treated with great and fast service! So I was heading to one of my regular lunch stops, and saw that Marvinos is now open so I decided to try it. Walking in, the atmosphere is warm and a little classier than the steakhouse next door. Once sat, my very friendly server Jasmine was greeting me and taking my drink order as she passed by to drop off the food at the next table. I perused the menu, noting both the prices and varieties. I was glad they had a lunch menu to offer. I'm not a seafood eater, but I was impressed by their seafood selections. When Jasmine returned, she reviewed the menu with me. I always ask the server what their favorite things are, and love it when they give their actual opinions (instead of saying they've never tried anything or "it depends on what you want"). Jasmine shared one of her favorites is Chicken Nona, and so I ordered it, with the soup of the day, which was tomato basil. The tomato basil soup looked delicious when it arrived. However it was not hot, merely warm, and that is not a good way to eat tomato soup. It had a nice creamy texture, but it was much sweeter than it needed to be. I'd give it a C-. Then the chicken arrived. It looked good. The plate was hot. It was a plump chicken breast on a pile of risotto and spinach. But the thing is, the chicken was bland. The sauce and risotto were tasty. But the chicken was... tasteless. It didn't disgust me. It just didn't delight me. I give it a C. The meal itself was meh. But Jasmine and the staff were extremely diligent, friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxing (and potentially romantic). The staff alone get an A+! I may try it once more for dinner, but the food has to improve if I'm going to pay that kind of money for lunch or dinner. I do know I'll stop in for a drink at the bar, just for the environment and friendly folks. Jasmine told me happy hour is from 11 to 6! Overall dining experience: B- read more

We were there prior to Christmas for a company Christmas dinner and were treated poorly. There was a misunderstanding on which party was being seated in the private dining room. When it was determined we were in the wrong spot. The manager or whomever he was told us, "this room has a $1000.00 minimum ". No apology made us feel unimportant. There were 7 of us, and we were moved to the dining room. Very crowded and loud due to the fact there was a guy there performing on a keyboard near us. Service was super slow, food was good. However, for the money our employer spent that night, I guarantee we would have had a better experience at another establishment. I will not be returning. read more

I never thought to leave a review until today when I reminisced about my graduation day. December 2018 my friends and family ate in the private room here for my graduation. It was about 15 of us and the waiter told us we all had to pay on one check. Although that was not ideal we agreed. They ended up placing another family (who's skin color was not the same as ours) of a equal size in the same room. After taking their order the waiters asked them nicely how their checks would be split up. We immediately asked what was the difference between them and us. They had no valid reason why we had to pay on one check and they could pay on multiple. We were just told "we told you when you booked". Of course my mom wasn't having that and eventually everything was resolved and waitress, who now had a attitude, came and allowed us to pay separately. On top of this situation the food was not very good. It's unfortunate that situations like this haunt us throughout the years but to them it wasn't a big deal. read more

Had reservations for a group of 20 for a friend's birthday. Everyone seemed pleased with their food and beverages. The lasagna is really good. The dough on the pizza was a little undercooked, but that's because I like my crust crispy. Karina did a great job handling our party size. The major feedback is related to the hostesses. Since Karina was super busy taking food and drink orders, I asked the hostesses on duty if they could send a cake at the end for our friends birthday. They told me to communicate directly with Karina even though the hostess' were not busy. It was 9 pm and no new tables were coming in. Unfortunately, Karina was so busy that she forgot, so I went to communicate with the hostesses again and no response. People started leaving and there was still no cake. I have been here twice and have experienced racial behavior from the same waiter Jose. The first time we picked this restaurant to celebrate my father in law's 65 bday the food was great but the service was lacking. My husband and I ordered a bottle of Wine and Jose gave us a dirty look as if we couldn't afford it. I assumed maybe I was overthinking. We recently came back in 2022 for a date night, upon arrival service was great until Jose came to our table as our waiter....I noticed on the menu they offered Happy Hour on house wine until 6pm. I ordered a house Cab and my husband got a margarita, I noticed Jose telling everyone else menu specials but when he got to us he said Have you decided on what you want...I just shrugged it off and placed my order. My husband order a steak and specifically asked Jose to double up on the potatoes no green beans. Well when the meal came he had green beans and a small portion of potatoes. We brought the matter up to Jose who said that is double potatoes they just gave you the green beans too. Which was a big lie...my husband said this is not double potatoes, like we are looking at the plate! He then says I will bring more as if he doing us a favor! After the completion of our meal I asked for the ticket, he over charged me for the Wine. I said I ordered the HH wine. Jose says you came after 6pm, I told him no we did not and he could check with the hostess as we made reservations then he said it's my fault because I'm supposed to tell him I want HH house wine!! I have never seen anything like this, I ordered wine from the HH menu and he tried to tell me I messed up. Needless to say we payed the over priced bill because I refuse to cause a scene. But we will never go back and I will never recommend this restaurant as people of color are not treated fairly! read more

Food is great, but my gosh is their customer service horrible. Was my last birthday in my 30s and was looking forward to a solid top shelf glass of wine in a quiet/classy atmosphere. My husband made reservations, but because kids are jerks, we were late for our reservation. They called us while we were on our way to make sure we were still coming, told them we were almost there and were told, "perfect, no problem, your table is waiting". Upon arrival we were told, the kitchen is closing soon and they are not taking orders. Never again will I ever darken their door. Won't make a difference to them or their bank account, but at least I will have peace of mind knowing I won't experience that level of disrespect again.
