I'm not sure if my expectations were too high but wasn't blown away by this place ? Min spend $50pp

I had three drinks here. Two were misses and one was great. For a place known for its cocktails, I thought it was disappointing. Not to mention they forgot one of my food orders. The only drinks my friend and I liked were Olive and Honey and Blue cheese Sake martini. Unique and clean. Blue cheese sake martini was more savory, not overly salty. Olive and honey was on the sweeter side but not overpowering. I also had the risotto drink and the Grand Martiny's. Risotto was on their seasonal menu, supposedly had truffle on it. I thought it tasted very medicinal and one noted. Grand Martiny's was too sweet for my liking, probably my fault as it had sherry and Porto in it, and I clearly thought somehow they'd make it less sweet?! Time limit for two is an hour and 45 minutes. It sounded like a lot, except every time after we order drinks, it would take at least 15 minutes for the drinks to come. So for 3 drinks, that's us sitting on our buns for 45min waiting for our drinks... I've been to Angels Share a long time ago and also not a big fan (sorry). Same sentiment applies here. Won't be back.

Made reservations in advance. Was seated upstairs. The drinks were so delicious and definitely a good old school vibe interior inside. Feels great for after work drinks and or a nice intimate date setting. The server was attentive to our party and provided very great recommendations. My favorite side dish aside from drinks was the deep fried corn, wow perfect with a nice alcoholic beverage. Juicy olives with my martini- let's go.

Good drinks, good food, and good ambiance with a cool aesthetic. I ordered two drinks and a wagyu sando, and enjoyed them all.

Martiny's has been on my bucket list for a minute. It was actually recommended by a bartender at The Bees Knees in Kyoto. On a Monday night, we swung by around 9 PM. This intimate, very dimly-lit bar with a capacity of possibly 25 people on the main level was full. We were put on the waiting list and grabbed cocktails around the corner at L'Americana (coincidentally, under common ownership with Martiny's). L'Americana's cocktails are excellent by the way! (try the Porcini Fashioned). 30 minutes later, I received a text that our table was ready at Martiny's. The hostess was kind and patient. We were provided hot face towels and menus. Our server provided excellent descriptions of the flavor profiles of cocktails. The bartender mixologists - Tomo and Miguel - were dressed smartly with bowties, and mixed cocktails fluidly while John Coltrane and Stan Getz played softly in the background. I tried the "Tea Ceremony" (a whiskey cocktail), a "Grand Martiny's" (a beautiful ruby-colored martini riff), and a "Potter's Old-Fashioned" (using brown butter-washed Maker's Mark 46) All three cocktails were impeccable. I don't mind paying $20 to $30 for a cocktail for this superb level of quality and presentation. Overall, I highly recommend Martiny's for fellow craft cocktail afficionados.

Great, inventive cocktails with interesting takes like the Porcini Risotto. The cocktails are expertly made and therefore take a little time for each order. Located in a carriage house, the bar has a speakeasy vibe. Reservations are needed, and note that your reservation will have seat options - bar, high top, etc. We had early reservations at opening for drinks before dinner and it was busy. There is a $50 per person minimum which doesn't make this a place to stop by for a before or after dinner drink. Will need 2 drinks each or add food to make the minimum, otherwise we would come more often to try different cocktails, especially the dessert martinis. Tried the Porcini Risotto, Olive and Honey Vesper, Mole Granada, Grand Martiny's. Enjoyed all of them. If you like experimental cocktails, give this place a try.

Date: Thursday, May 8th, 2025 Time: 6pm Party of: 6 Reservation Made via: Resy a few weeks prior *Tea Ceremony ($30) *Caprese ($24) *Night Train ($23) *Spring Boulevard ($26) x2 *The Armoury ($27) *Grand Martiny's ($26) *Manhattan ($23) *Peated Martini "Kemuri" ($36) *Dirty Tonic ($21) *Wakamomo ($26) *Large Party: 20% ($57.60) A group of us make a yearly trip to NYC from SF. We are the cocktail drinking kind, so typically try to hit up as many bars as possible. My gf ended up nabbing a rezzie at Martiny's for 6 peeps. We initially had only 5 people, but eventually had one other friend join. Cocktails are fun and inventive, but not overly so, which I like. (I'm simple. Don't need too much done to my liquor.) I started off with the Tea Ceremony - nikka coffey grain whiskey, cacao, matcha, coconut water. I'm a huge matcha fan and a whisky girl, but wasn't sure how it would all blend together. Especially since I don't actually like coconut. I was pleasantly surprised. The whisky gave it the booziness, the matcha a bright greenness, and the coconut kinda melded it all together. For the second drink, I think I just got the Dirty Tonic - grey goose vodka, olive oil, spices, tonic. We all sampled each other's so I'm not 100% sure. But this would have been a throw back to my grey goose martini up with olive days. Anyways, can't really go wrong with a vodka tonic with olives. Service was excellent. Our server was super sweet. And never made us feel rushed. Vibe is very like old world loungey. Dark colors, plush couches, comfy chairs, etc. Kinda felt like we were sitting around a coffee table chilling and having drinks. I also appreciated the fact there wasn't loud music playing, so we could actually have a conversation instead of shouting at each other. One of my favorite bars this last trip. Worth a stop for any cocktail lover. Just make sure to get a rezzie if you are not a fan of lines. There was definitely quite a few people waiting outside. REVIEW #3770

The atmosphere captures the essence of a classic Japanese cocktail bar -- refined, intimate, and elevated by a sharply dressed bartender and attentive service, all set to elegant background music. The second floor has a cozy, loft-like feel with plenty of seating and space to unwind. The cocktails are outstanding, inspired by Japanese culinary traditions -- think creative takes like melon cream soda or drinks evoking a tea ceremony. The food menu is just as impressive, featuring unique offerings like imported Japanese river crab that you won't find elsewhere. Easily one of the best bars in New York City, especially if you're a fan of Japanese-style mixology.

We always have great time at Martiny's. Come at opening if you don't want to wait for a table. The drinks and food were both delicious and beautiful.

We were chatting about cocktail bars with our wonderful server here and she asked about our faves in the city...honestly? It genuinely might be Martiny's after this visit. Everything from the drinks to the food to the service to the sleek-yet-cozy space was top-notch. We sat downstairs at the bar, but I took a peek at the lounge area upstairs, which was very inviting and reminded me of someone's (wears 'quiet luxury', regularly hosts jazz listening parties) living room. Cocktails: -Orangettini (earl grey-infused gin, Grand Marnier, Lillet, cacao, peychaud's bitters, orange): this was described to me as a dessert-style martini, but I found it to be just a little sweet and really balanced overall. The expressed orange peel added a really nice orange essence. The cacao was subtle, similar to how it's used in a 20th century cocktail. -Tea Ceremony (bourbon, cacao, matcha, coconut water): harmonious flavors and high-quality ingredients. The interplay of the matcha with the cacao and coconut is hard to describe but it's almost like you can taste the flavors all coming up to meet one another, if that makes sense. The matcha did overpower a bit at the bottom of the drink. This one was pricier than most of the other cocktails ($30), so I don't know if I would get it again. -Fig & coffee (mezcal, fig, Mr. Black coffee liqueur, kokuto [Japanese brown sugar], espresso, chocolate bitters): an espresso martini riff, and a strong candidate for the best in the city. A really rich, sumptuous liquid dessert. The addition of the fig made the drink taste even richer. Bites: -Burrata (yuba chips, nori, Lao gan ma, smoked trout roe)- the salty umami-ness of this dish completely transformed the burrata from its kinda tired preparation of tomato-olive oil-balsamic. One of the best dishes I've tried in a while. -Scallop (bonito cream, grapes, fennel, pickled daikon): Fantastic. Each bite was creamy, savory, and smoky. Also sweet and tangy. Definitely an odd combination of ingredients, but it worked. -Scotch (Japanese) eggs (Tsukune sausage, Ajitama egg, yakitore tare): Another winner. The smoky pork and that uber-crunchy crust are classic, but the savory-sweet sauce (a mixture of soy, mirin, and rice wine) made this memorable. -Karaage with caviar (karaage, caviar, cream cheese): I remember this being good and crunchy! This was simpler than the intricate first few dishes, which isn't a bad thing at all. The karaage just didn't stand out quite as much.

Martiny's has been ranked in the top 50 bars of the world. They have really unique cocktails and impeccable service. The servers know the menu inside and out and give great recommendations. The townhouse that it is in is cozy with an upstairs and a downstairs. Reservations are highly recommended. If you sit downstairs, the space is ADA friendly as well as the bathroom. I had the Maia cocktail and the Caprese cocktail. My favorite was the Caprese as it was sweet without being over powering. My friend had a martini and the Risotto cocktail which was so savory with white truffle. The downsides are a $50 per person minimum and a menu that lacks substantial vegetarian food options. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, please have a full meal before coming here. There's a tomato dish offered but it has gelatin on top. There are really good corn fritters but make sure to get them served without the roe butter. They are served with egg yolk shredded on top however. The staff is highly attentive, though sometimes to a little bit of a control freak mode. They open up at 6, and don't let you wait in the vestibule before they open, so they had us waiting outside in the street with 3 minutes to opening. There's a sidewalk shed up right now thankfully, otherwise we would have been standing out in the pouring rain. I put my food dish on top of the menu that I had been reading, and a server came by and removed the dish and placed it back on the table for me. Just weird little quirky things that seem like control issues here. That said, I do think this is one of the more unique experiences you'll have at a cocktail bar in New York, so I highly recommend stopping by.

Do they have a walk-in bar? I only want to go for cocktails- don't need a table to myself. Thanks.

There is a bar on the first floor. You can do a walk in but you may have to wait some time. I'd recc going when they first open if you want a better chance at getting seated. You can also make reservations for 1 person

Do they take reservations? how do you make them?

Yes! They're on Resy now: https://resy.com/cities/ny/martinys. Definitely make one if you're trying to get in right when they open.

Our friends raved about this place and we of course were excited (and a bit skeptical at first) to try it. The concept: no menu + no lights + a few questions = the ultimate cocktail experience. The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.

Mood lighting, comfortable seating, great drinks in a cozy and Victorian-inspired space are the perfect blend of unique and. I always felt like I was part of something special the few times enjoyed creative, delicious, and strong libations from the pros at the bar. While it has always been pricey, I do feel like the excellent service ambiance, and drink quality warrant this, but may prevent more folks from becoming regulars so to speak. I love the clever and compact bathroom design, too. IYKYK Long live Apotheke!

Fifteen years later and Apotheke is still one of my favorites!…read more You will walk past this hidden speakeasy several times before finding it. I could tell you to look for the blue beaker sign that says "Chemist" but the better tell is the random guy sitting on a stool outside. He'll be the only person on the street, so no worries about missing him! The menu has changed over the years, but the quality has not. The bartenders are social and personable. And the prices are in line for the area. My bestie and I loved the vibe. One of the best speakeasies she's had the pleasure of experiencing. Don't miss out on this place!

Serious attitude here. The cocktails were very tasty but the service and vibe were so off-putting,…read moreI will never go back. I made a reservation in person more than 24 hours in advance. I wanted to treat an old friend to a quick birthday toast before a show she was attending nearby. Later that night, another friend became available to join but, because they do not actually have a phone that takes calls (only offers an announcement to go to Resy or email) adding another person was not at all easy. I would have had to cancel and rebook and wasn't sure I'd be able to (reservation was for a Saturday night) In most places, a table for 3 easily accommodates 4. But not here. When two of us arrived, they made it clear this was a big problem. I would have walked out right then but I would have been charged $90! We decided to stay and make the best of it, which was a challenge. For a speakeasy, the vibe was aggressive, not relaxing. Very loud music and not great acoustics.) Too cramped to be comfortable, proving that small does not necessarily mean cozy! We asked if we could take a chair from the table next to us, which was empty (it was only 6 pm; I told our server we'd be gone by 7 because my friend, the birthday girl, had to catch a show.) We were told No! To say the waiter was cold, unfriendly, and indifferent is generous. He was totally rude. He literally told my friend she couldn't sit in a chair that was otherwise empty, knowing we'd be leaving momentarily. Then he had the gail to hand me the bill with a 22% tip pre-selected...and watched over me while I signed it! Definitely the least satisfying $100 I have ever spent. Disappointing. It was good to see my friends, but I so wish I hadn't picked this place. Never again.
