From the friendly welcome and warm greeting by our server, to the wide array of selections on the menu and delicious aroma, we were ready to order. I went with the staple of the pork bbq sandwich and fries. I was originally considering the brisket due to a couple of reviews, but first time at any bbq place, I typically go for this staple. I was certainly not disappointed. The amount of meat and slaw was the perfect balance. The fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. Then came the selection of sauces from which to choose. Although the spicy tomato based sauce appears to be the most popular, I love vinegar based sauces, so I went with that one. It was absolutely delectable! I know this place is a little off the beaten path, but if you are driving on I-64 and want to take a relaxing break and grab some food or beverages, this place is perfect for good food and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

The staff is consistently gracious and accommodating, which really sets them apart from other restaurants that seem to dread large parties. Even on a busy Friday night, we were seated in under thirty minutes. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and handled multiple tables with ease. He stayed on top of our orders and refills, and he took allergies seriously, checking with the kitchen to make sure certain dishes were safe. That level of care is always appreciated. As always, the food was excellent. I usually go for the crabcakes, but this time I tried the special, a crowned salmon, and it was so tasty. They truly do seafood well here, and the portions are always hearty. Every experience here is consistently great. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the manager even stopped by our table to check in, which was a nice touch. I always recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Williamsburg.

I was tasked with phoning in the reservation (thankfully the meal went better than that debacle)and since we were dining early it wasn't an issue. First of all, there are two places in the property; the Tavern and 5 Fields pizza and beer. We dined at the Tavern. GORGEOUS garden lining the old farmhouse! We went in and were seated inside right away. As it was almost 100 today it was ideal seating. The decore is well.... different. Where we sat was a truck grill from 1928, and there was more of a sports motiff. (If you go and sit in the same room, let me know if you can spot the crooked pic!) Once again, my curse at remembering names of the servers has hit again which is a real sham because she was beyond AWESOME. She was VERY patient with my extremely frustrating mum which was nice. We both got this truly genius idea of an appetizer to start; a veggie boat with a ranch style dressing. Omg it was perfect. Warm day, cruciferous veggies, ice cold drinks. Heaven. Next came the burgers, she got the Tavern burger, I got the Charles City burger. The Tavern has cheddar cheese and bacon, the Charles City has bree cheese and this creamy mojo ajo aoli along with fried shallots....there is probably more but all I know is that I feel like an idiot never having triple creme bree on a burger before. I have to take a moment to also inform you that they make the BEST Cosmo outside of NYC. Perfectly blended and chilled, and just strong enough to celebrate a Friday night. Yowza! One.more thing. They tempted me with a scoop of their home made butter pecan ice cream. I just want to move in and become one with this place it was so good. I haven't had butter pecan this good in 50 years!! After this essay I guess you could say that I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It's in a beautiful area, lots of parking, great food & ambiance. I couldn't find a single fault.

And trust me, it lives up to the name. Lee Lee's Comfort Cuisine is tucked on 43rd & Jefferson, right near Chik-A-Sea on 44th. I had the pleasure of visiting & talking with the owners -- beautiful people with amazing energy & welcoming spirits. The 1st time I went, I ordered the Salisbury steak (or chop steak -- call it what you want). It was two PCs of meat for $19.99 and came with two sides & a piece of cornbread. I chose the mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, & added a side of green beans. Baby... listen -- the Salisbury steak had substance! Not that soft, fluffy stuff like Piccadilly's. It was meaty, juicy, & seasoned just right. The sweet potatoes were sweet but not too sweet, & the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, & made with love. Now the green beans? I was shocked -- no pork in them, but they were still full of flavor! You'd swear somebody grandma put her foot in 'em. They made me want 2nds! I told my people about it, & the very next day I was back -- got pork chops for my mom, Salisbury steak for my sister, and fried chicken for my friend. And just like b4, everything hit. One day I tried to stop by Piccadilly's for their 2 for $30 deal, but the line was out the door. I ended up back at Lee Lee's, and I was so glad I did. That day, she had roasted chicken with cream of mushroom sauce & some fried fish. She switches it up & even asks her customers what they'd like to see on the weekend menu. She's open every day except Tuesday -- yes, even Sundays & Mondays. She also has a sit-down area, & the place is clean, smells good, & feels welcoming. This used to be Roadside Café, & the vibe is still homey, just fresher. Please go support this young woman & her family. Her food is amazing, the prices are more than reasonable, & the customer service is top-tier. From the owners to the folks walking in, the whole place just feels like community. You won't be disappointed -- it's a must-try. It's a True Taste of Love & Flavor on Jefferson Avenue.

Rocco's Smokehouse kept popping up when we searched for places to eat, so we decided to give it a shot. We weren't really in the mood for barbecue, and they only had ONE steak option, but the menu looked so interesting that we figured, why not? There was about a 15-20 minute wait, which immediately had me thinking, "Okayyy, maybe we made the right choice!" The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had a great vibe. IMPORTANT: Navigation took us to the wrong location, so pay close attention to the Yelp directions. Rocco's is currently operating from a temporary location. Once we were seated, our waiter was right over to take our drink order. First things first--the sweet tea is MAGNIFICENT! And let me tell you what you NEED to order: Smoked barbecue wings -- MUST ORDER -- absolutely get it! Rocco actually brought it to our table and warned us that we would be hooked and he was right! I originally wanted the lump crab cakes, but I didn't see anyone else ordering them, so I took my waiter's recommendation and went with the brisket quesadillas. GREAT decision! They were juicy, flavorful, and downright scrumptious. My partner ordered Platter #3, which came with ribs, a quarter chicken, and pork barbecue. The chicken was his favorite--he could not stop talking about it! You could really taste that smoky flavor in the meat. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good too. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by Rocco's. We went in craving steak and left talking about smoked wings, chicken, brisket, and barbecue! Would I go back? Absolutely! And next time, those crab cakes are getting ordered! #WilliamsburgVA #WilliamsburgEats #VirginiaFoodie #RoccosSmokehouse #Foodie #YelpEats #BBQ #FoodReview #VirginiaRestaurants

For entrees, we had the bone-in pork and the cavatelli, and both were excellent. The pork was probably one of the top five I've ever had -- cooked perfectly, with a great sauce on top and really good grits. My wife had a gin, egg white, raspberry, and prosecco drink. It tasted mostly like prosecco, so we weren't quite as impressed with the cocktail as we thought we'd be. One little tiff: there was no one sitting on the outside patio, so we asked if we could have the shaded table. They said no because of the staffing setup. About halfway through our meal, one couple came and sat at the larger table we weren't allowed to use, then decided they didn't want to sit there and went inside. Not really sure what the big deal was with that table versus the one next to it where we were seated on an otherwise empty patio. But all in all, it was a great meal and we would definitely go again!
