On the way back from the Tidewater area I was seeking a place for some good, local grub and saw the reviews for Two Drummers and came here. The parking was packed on a weekday around 1PM and when I went inside, they were really busy, but there was plenty of seating at the bar, so I chose that. My server was great! Very friendly and helpful with the menu. She said one of her favs for lunch was their smoked meatloaf, so I chose that. I got it with a side of mac & cheese. It came out pretty quickly and looked and smelled really good. It tasted great! I love a good smoked meatloaf and this one definitely fit the bill! The mac & cheese was decent. The mashed potatoes and gravy that the meatloaf was sitting on were also really good. I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with their spicier BBQ sauce, it didn't seem spicy to me, almost tasted just like the regular BBQ sauce (wonder if someone filled the bottle with the wrong stuff?), but their mustard based sauce was excellent and I used it primarily. Overall, a great visit, I'd definitely return and would recommend stopping in! The other nice thing is they're right on Rt60, so I didn't have to get back on that horrible 64 when done, I took 60 back to 295, which is less stressful than 64 - so it was a win win!! read more

Back here and had a good experience. Food: pulled pork slider kid meal was plenty of food for a small appetite and included a drink. Side sausage was tasty and the cheeseburger meal was also good. Love the sweet bbq sauce. Service was good and we had a kind server. There are a range of tables and booths as well as outside seating. Love that the chandeliers are drums! read more

After taking advice on what to try from our waitress Sharon I got the chicken , pork , coleslaw and chili . Every last bit of the chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection . Pork was moist and flavorful . Simply put the chili was amazing . Coleslaw was different than any I have ever had , not to much vinegar or mayo crisp and great tasting . Now the 1 and only part that could use improvement the bbq sauce . As amazing as everything was (especially the chicken , 2nd best I have ever had across the country) the sauce just doesn't match up , I did get a side of Alabama white and that was so good , the regular sauce at the table was just meh . All in all I can't wait to be back up in VA just to eat here again . A definite must if you like good food and great service 4 3/4 stars out of 5 read more

We ate in-house and less than stellar reviews for the experience. I'm told this restaurant has been here for a good while. It shows. Beside the ambiance old and worn out, the entire place needs a good scrubbing. Menus were filthy, tables and seats were also needing attention. The food was happily enjoyed but if we visit again, it'll be for takeout only. I only hope the kitchen has better integrity than the rest of the building. read more

This had to be the worst bbq I ever had in my life. No flavor, the pulled pork texture was awful, the chicken had no flavor and was like crumbly rubber. Some stuff was just inedible. our bill was $80 and we didn't enjoy a single thing on our plates. I really wanted to try something local but we wont be returning. read more

Still one of the better BBQ places in the area, but recently the staffing has changed, service is problematic and (according to one server) kitchen is often more involved with their phones than the food. Today several of us had their Cuban, and we all agreed that their portion control had gotten a bit excessive. Still good, but not satisfying. Doesn't look like much from the outside but that's the best you can hope for!!! We knew it was going to be good when you could smell the brisket from outside. I wasn't even hungry before we walked inside, ate the whole 7oz burger and fries. I'm from like Arizona - Texas so I know a good smokehouse, give them your love!!!! Walking into the restaurant it was nothing fancy. A lived-in feel with minimum decor of cymbals and drums scattered throughout and a display of trophies of their accomplishments with their food. But do not let their appearance fool you. This place is all about making some fantastic food. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. They also went above and beyond when I told them about my food allergy. I have visited them a handful of times and I have only had one item on the menu. I don't do this out of reluctance to try any other items on the menu. I do this because as much as I try to order something else, they do this one item so well, it calls to me. As a lover of sandwiches, I cannot recommend the Two Drummers Cuban enough. It is seriously a delicious sandwich. Have it with any side you want. They're all wonderful. I always go with the baked beans and whichever other side tickles my fancy on that visit. You cannot go wrong with any side. I came in for pick up for lunch and wow! Very good flavor. Service was very good! Loved the location.

Our friends and neighbors have been telling us about Two Drummers, so we had to try it ourselves. We had so much fun going for an early dinner. We walked in around 5:15 pm, and while the bar was pretty full, there were lots of tables open, and one booth. We asked to be seated at the booth. After we sat down, more and more diners arrived. We started with their Mel-garita (a traditional margarita named after one of their bartenders). It was bright and tasty. We also enjoyed their sweet tea. They had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, and we couldn't resist. They were perfectly done--the tomatoes were juicy and crisp, and the breading was light. We dipped them in a yummy tomato ranch. For dinner we ordered the pulled pork sandwich, topped with cole slaw. We also got a side of collards -- so good -- especially with their traditional bbq sauce. We also ordered the brisket entree, with cole slaw and hushpuppies. We enjoyed the tangy vinegar sauce with the brisket. We had so much food, we took half home to enjoy later. The restaurant is casual and laid back. They also have outdoor dining under a tent. Bands play music outside on Thursdays, and we were advised to make reservations for those nights. They may have music other days too. I'm not sure. They take reservations, except day-of, so plan ahead--at least by one day. What a pleasant surprise! In from Florida, visiting family. Researched Yelp- BBQ several places turned up- this one sounded the most interesting- Was greeted by a friendly cashier and staff. I have to admit they did not disappoint. The pork was probably the most juiciest and tender (portion was HUGE) will definitely be eating pork sandwiches for dinner. He let me have a bite and I knew I made the wrong choice. I got the pulled pork platter with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The pork was cold and flavorless. The sides were great though. We also started with the meatballs. They were huge and delicious. Our server was nice too. The place was clean. They had booths and tables. All the booths were full so we sat at a table. For a place with "Smokehouse" in the name, you'd expect the pulled pork and chicken to be showstoppers, but sadly, they felt more like a second act. The pork had a mild vinegar note, but it was dry, and the chicken was lacking in tenderness. On the bright side, the spicy beans and collard greens were flavorful and kept me engaged.However, the accommodation was hot, and flies seemed to enjoy the meal more than I did. Service was slower than a brisket cook, and the cleanliness could use some TLC. Prices? A bit high for what you're getting, although portions were generous. I had high expectations for this place. It fell a little short but it was still a good experience. The server was really nice and it is a pretty cool place overall. I got the brisket dip sandwich and the brisket wasn't really that great. It was pretty dry and lacked flavor. I tried it separately from the sandwich just to check and it was not that great despite having a decent smoke ring. The mac & cheese was decent it just lacked a little bit of flavor. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich and she said it was pretty good but nothing out of this world. The kids all enjoyed their kids meals with extra generous portions. Had our Easter lunch here and was not disappointed. Our server was friendly and attentive. The drinks were not very good (we got Bloody Mary's) but food was outstanding and made up for it. It was a dark and rainy night when we diverted off the road on the way from Norfolk to Richmond. A summer thunderstorm had blown in and the gusting was so bad... We took refuge in this quaint spot. A band was playing. Apparently they have live music several nights a week during the summertime. They have outdoor dining and indoor dining. There were plenty of specials to be had, but I was after some down home southern fare. We ordered really great pulled pork which was divine. I had the collards and these were hands-down the best collards I have ever eaten. They were well cooked and tender, excellently seasoned, but not mushy and overcooked. The cornbread was fantastic the pork was sweet and delicious. They had two or three different barbecue sauces you could use on it. Hey you... I know your looking at the reviews of this place. Read this one from a foodie that likes to go different places. You won't be disappointed. Trust me it's worth the stop. This intimate and cozy restaurant is located near Williamsburg Premium Outlets. It seats well over 30, with small/big tables/booths, outside seating and stools at the bar area and has an extensive menu from BBQ, burgers, salads and Brunswick stew. The service is excellent, with about 4/5 servers who are polite and efficient with cleaning up the empty plates so more can come. Love our waitress Jarica!!! She took really good care of us and was so sweet and attentive. The place was packed and they were also having a BBQ class going on but she maintained a smile and awesome service! This place is so delicious. I've only been here this once but I will be back again. We ordered a variety of appetizers and main course's and one dessert. Appetizer's ordered: Brisket Burnt End (So flavorful, the meat was like butter melting in your mouth it was just so awesomely delicious.) Porky Fries (Fries are crispy and come with a tomato ranch to dip in. The pork and the abundant amount if delicious cheese on these fries was excellent.) Cheese Curd (This has to be my favorite, had like a panko breading on it but oh my god it didn't disappoint. I dipped in the ranch tomato which just added even more flavor.) Hush Puppy Basket (Comes with honey and butter. These things are not tiny what so ever and are dense and filling.) Main Courses Ordered: Spice Rubbed Pork Ribs (Fall off the bone so tender!) Each dish is seasoned with it's own spices/rubs/sauces which come out smelling savory and appetizing, unlike other places that use the same seasoning for all dishes. The brisket burnt ends were seasoned with a rub/sauce and done just right, the meat was juicy which makes for a heavenly delight and are also very delectable and mouthwatering. All the flavor is kept in while grilling and goes well with a cold sweet tea. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places like Jadean's Smokin' Six O BBQ, Buzz and Ned's, and are as good, if not better in my personal opinion. I found my new BBQ spot. I had not been to Two Drummers since it first opened, but they seem to have found their groove and my family had been going there, so I went with them. The most impressive element of my meal and others at the table was the portion sizes. I am a loyal customer of Pierce's and stand by their pulled pork, but Two Drummers has their veggies beaten in terms of portion size and freshness. I got the chicken and pork plate that came with a half chicken and pulled pork as well as a piece of cornbread, and I opted for green beans and collard greens, trying to be healthy and all. I thought everything was seasoned nicely. My only complaint was that the chicken was a tad dry, but not terrible, and I want to get it again just in case I got a bad one. My favorite thing was actually the collard greens. I am a sucker for great collards. The cornbread was surprisingly moist too. I also sampled their "Orange Crush" drink and a piece of the smoked sausage that she ordered. I think I liked the sausage the most of any of the meats and the drink was nice and strong, though I am not much of an alcohol drinker, so perhaps I am not the best judge. The decor in the restaurant is inviting. The building itself is nothing crazy, but they have done plenty of work on it since Hog Wild (RIP) was in there and it has a welcoming and comfortable feel to it with a vastly larger bar in place. There is ample outdoor seating as well. Our waitress was highly personable and quick. The food came quickly too. I have no complaints about the service in general. The menu is not huge, but they rotate their specials and seem to always have new ones, and they have dishes that specifically bring people to the restaurant and create a buzz, so they are doing something right. I respect a restaurant that has a reasonably sized menu of things that they prepare well. It is always crowded too, so that says plenty. I will certainly return to Two Drummers. read more

Came by here in early November 2023 excited for a new barbecue place to try. Ordered the pimento and pork belly burger and brisket. Pork belly burger was fantastic. Loved every bite. The brisket...was hard, dry, and chewy. It was a piece where you knew the moment you served it that it was low quality. They could've told us they were out of brisket or that it didn't meet standards and we would've ordered anything else. But that was what they considered their best foot forward. That's just lazy and embarrassing. Many people tout this as best in the area, but when you miss that badly on what is the crown jewel of barbecue, I don't know how anyone can take those reviews seriously. read more
