I went to Busch gardens yesterday with a few friends and one of my friends had been talking about Trappers because he heard of it from a different friend and we all thought he was just overly glazing it, but once we went in, we realized he had a valid reason to glaze it since the food was SO GOOD the chicken was THE BEST and the ribs were good as well, and the fries? THEY WERE JUST THE BEST! I also loved all the decorations in the store, and the workers there are the best. I WOULD TOTALLY GO HERE AGAIN, I'm literally still thinking about the food there a whole day after. This is literally some of the best theme park food I've ever tried! Who wants food coma at Busch Gardens?????? Same concept as all the other places. You grab your plate and go to the other line to pay. It was okay. This has become one of the spots we enjoy eating at while visiting Busch Gardens. We feel like we get more bang for our buck. If we do not need a spot for an AC break this is our place. My husband and kiddos usually get the sampler and I get the smoked chicken. The sampler comes with 3 different types of meat. Everything is delicious. They also provide a BBQ sauce for dipping versus if you want that, it is a surcharge. The staff here have always been working hard, and the food is always available. Pricing is high, but that's Busch Gardens. So we expect it, and have learned how to cut costs along the way while visiting. We always generally get water to save a little money. Seating is throughout the generally area. So there is options. There seems to always be someone around wiping table or picking up trash in the area. The ribs, chicken and brisket aren't dry and they give you extra bbq sauce in case you want it. Seating here can be found next to the smokehouse and across behind the funnel cake shop. On this visit, we learn that Busch Gardens has engaged in shrinkflation. The Sampler no longer comes with brisket. If you want two slices of brisket (and based on past experience, you don't), it will cost you usurious $8.99. The ribs and the chicken remain the same as last time. Mediocre. But shocking for a BBQ restaurant, you are limited to one small McNuggets-sized container of BBQ sauce. Additional ones are $1.29. This is an embarrassing level of chiseling, especially since the fries are nearly inedible without them. Even with the sauce, they are served cold. The chocolate cupcake I had for dessert was large, pretty, and impressive to look at, but when eaten, it underwhelmed with little flavor or moistness. The bottom line is that the current management at Busch Gardens has decided that, since you are trapped at the park, there is no need to make any effort to make the food service actually something guests look forward to. So delicious!! We came here after a long walk. Ordered something light so we wouldn't be too stuffed for more rides. We got a Busch gardens cup, fries, and the mozzarella sticks. They were all so tasty. The price was $43- but mostly expensive for the reusable cup. Fries had some seasoning on it but it wasn't spicy at all and the toddler really enjoyed it. My big double stroller wouldn't fit which was a bummer. The line was a wrap around system and you grabbed food as you passed. Lots of near by tables. Love the decor and the design. The aroma in the air had us thinking the food was going to be amazing, but it was in fact terrible. After standing in line for about an hour, I ordered the brisket chili. To this day I'm not sure if there was any brisket in it. It wasn't hot. Instead of a corn muffin they served it with a roll that was so hard I swear they had it out uncovered for 1-2 days. I also grabbed an apple cobbler, and it's only saving grace is that it was hot, because it didn't even taste like apple. I tasted some of my husband's cheesecake. Awful. We came here for lunch while in Busch Gardens. The smokehouse is a wonderful place to eat while at the park. The portions are large and the meats are flavorful! It's a cafeteria styled ordering system. You move down the line and grab what you want and put it on your tray. They offer fresh fruits, various cakes, a cast iron apple cobbler, salads, beans, slaws, Mac & cheese, etc. The entrees include a 3 meat sampler with brisket, ribs, and chicken. You can also order a plate with the meats individually. They also offer a smoked salmon platter. The platters are all served with fries and a roll, the salmon comes with green beans, fries, and a roll. We had and all day dining deal, allowing each of us to get an entree, drink, side or dessert every 90 minutes. My sister and I opted for the sampler platter, while my mom ordered the salmon platter with a side of coleslaw. I split the strawberry cake with my mom, while my sister ordered a chocolate cupcake. We all enjoyed our meals. The meat was all juicy, with so much flavor. The fries were amazing too! The cakes were decent, nothing too special. But they weren't really heavy, which was nice. It was so much food, we didn't finish all the fries, but we did eat all the meat. Overall we had a great meal here. The portions are HUGE. And two people could easily split one entree. We returned later on during our second day for a snack. Ordering some watermelon, coleslaw, and the apple cobbler. This also satisfied us. Covid closed BG, voiding admission and all-season dining passes aka kids' Christmas gifts. Thankfully, BG hosted 1000 max visitor days in Aug with Trapper's being the only meal in town. Granted, it is high cost and average quality park food, convenience over quality. IMO Food was better than last trip in Dec 2019. Smokey flavor and moist/tender texture of items on sampler, chicken/ribs/brisket, were pretty good. I DON'T LIKE their bbq sauce. I'm praying BG calls Sweet Baby Rays when reopening for real. Haha This time, we ate sides and desserts, thanks to the kind gesture from guest services (Michelle?). Green beans were meh, mac n cheese was good but a very small portion. Carrot cake was moist, sweet and very good (4/5) while the chocolate pudding with cookie crumble topping was forgettable. The most decent meal I've had so far at Busch Gardens. It's expensive to what you get but smoke or bbq chicken is decent here. The chicken was my favorite, it was flavorful. The coleslaw is good too. The very small thin brisket is actually tender but I guess because it's so thin. The ribs had no flavorful, it's small and not very meaty. A long overdue review for my favorite place at Busch Gardens to get my grub on. If you are any where in the vicinity of France you have smelled the wonderful smoked aroma coming from their smoker. For over 10 years this has been a must to hit up a few times in the year. Lines are long, but move quick. When it is busy two lines are opened up. Often there are at least two check out lines, but can be four. It is deceiving but there is also plenty of seating around which is all outdoors. Debris is always an issue due to self bus and some times windy conditions. There are trash cans every where and staff tries there best. Lots of meat to choose from and of course all of the delicious sides. My favorite is the brisket platter and sides of macaroni, baked beans and waffle fries. If you want to go big than get the sample platter which has a few meats to choose from and is very economical for the amount you get. But you will find a lot more like deserts. My favorite is the strawberry short cake. Like most park food it's ain't cheap, but this place is more expensive than others. Make sure to show your annual pass for a 10% to help with the sting. If your interested in chatting with the guys who smoke this great meat you can do so as a walk up just outside the restaurant. Very hard working staff doing a great job in very hot conditions. This is a must for our family and I would recommend. read more

If this was $12 and not $20, I'd call it reasonable, but dining options in the park are super limited right now and this place isn't as good as most of the little food stands scattered around the various countries. I wouldn't return or recommend this place. Long lines, high prices and a sub-par product. I'd gladly have traded my $20 sampler for the kids chicken tender thing I saw the kid next to me eating. If only adulthood worked the way school lunch did back in the good old days... But alas, swindling children out of their delicious lunches is best left to those still in elementary school. If I did go back (meaning if this was literally my only option and I had to drive home, cause if I didn't, I would drink beer instead), I would get waffle fries. Just waffle fries. Some of the main offerings are: "Smoked Chicken" - Juicy and offered as half a Chicken, or a quarter if selected. "Baby Back Ribs" - Best on property, better than the one served in the Germany area. "Spare Ribs" - Best bang for the buck. Five large juicy ribs, dinner roll, and waffle fries for just $10.99. It's not fall off the bone, but it's juicy. Large enough to share, if you're generous. "Sliced Brisket Sandwich Platter" - Similar to a large Pulled Pork Sandwich, but made of shredded smoked tender beef. "Sampler Platter" - 2-3 Spare Ribs, 1/2 rack Baby Back Ribs, Waffle Fries, and a dinner roll for $15 and change. Not too shabby. "Drinks" - Fresh Brewed Iced Tea, Sweet Tea, Freshly made Lemonade , Fruit Punch, Assorted Fountain Sodas, Coffee, Milk, Bottled Water, Hot Chocolate, Beer on Draught Food can get messy. They do not have wet naps; I asked the cashier. Grab plenty of napkins. On hot days, ask for ice. It's free, and they are really concerned about their patrons not fainting. DO NOT EAT HERE PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD Everything is wrong with this place. They don't know a price below $5 dollars. So a tiny cup of grapes, a parfait, a salad, and a main entree will run you $57 dollars easy. I asked for a BBQ sampler, the worker slid me the one she had pre-prepared from under the light. I didn't think twice about it, but on the way home, I puked so hard that I filled up a whole garbage bag. It ruined my whole drive home and made me incredibly sick. On top of that, the food was excruciatingly nasty. I see in previous reviews that there are menus, and people making the food. That did not take place here. You chose: chicken, ribs or pork(?) or all three. Nothing was identifiable as such. They brought out the food and heated it under the lamps. The salad had white, old, soggy lettuce, no good mix of greens, cut up sheets of cheese, a sheet of turkey, and pre-packaged ranch and a rancid odor. The sampler had three cuts of very suspicious looking meat, each one with a very offbeat and pungent taste. I only ate the chicken out of force-of-habit. I slid it into the BBQ sauce and I could tell the BBQ sauce was Kraft brand. Everything that was meant to be hot was cold, and everything that was meant to be cold was lukewarm and mushy. From there, with a loaded plate/tray, you have to walk about 1,000 steps to go sit down. There's no lids, no straws, so you have to run the risk of dumping everything over. I asked an attendant how to get to the dining area the quickest way, and she pointed me in the wrong direction. We all got sick eating here, except my vegetarian friend, who got some cheese sticks instead. Lukewarm, sub-par, prison food quality. On a scale of 1-to-10, with a legendary smokehouse being a 10, a run-of-the mill chain being a 8 (like Texas Roadhouse), Longhorn being a 6, and a high school cafeteria being a 4, this place is a 1, and I could deduct further points for the fact that their food made me actually very sick. I've been coming here for over 20 years. Yes, I'm serious. and yes I'm just now reviewing it. Why? I don't know. Very overpriced. But hello? Does anyone actually bring their food to BG? The lines can be pretty long but if you go on the off peak times you can get in line, get your food, and snatch up a table. The smell is enough to put you in a bbq coma. They have everything from smoked chicken, bbq ribs, brisket, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, green beans, salads, chicken nuggets for the kids, and hot dogs. Their desserts range from pudding, jello, cheesecake, chocolate cake, fruit, cookies, cupcakes, and assorted pies. Everything is delicious. This is usually our go to whenever we go to BG and we usually go at least 3 times a year. If you're season pass holders you save 10% off everything. On a recent trip to Busch Gardens, we were strolling through France and this is where we decided to eat our lunch. I couldn't have been more excited about it because the smell upon walking by was absolutely intoxicating and since I love BBQ and wasn't in the mood for shitty fair food, this was perfect. I had the ribs, top notch, the husband had the pulled pork sandwich which was good but nothing spectacular and my brother in law had the fat kid plate, which included a little of everything. You basically go through an assembly line of desserts, side dishes, and main dishes where you choose what you want and they serve alcohol as well. I felt like the line is longer here than it is for the rides.. HOWEVER, it was totally worth it. If you are looking for a substantial meal for a fair price, try out Trappers. They have a huge seating area outside with a fantastic view of the Griffon roller coaster. You can watch everyone lose their lunch as you eat yours, literally, that happened. read more

We stopped by because it smelled great. I requested the signature ribs. The first half was pretty good, though a tiny bit tough to pull apart but not too bad the second half was MUCH worse. Like I couldn't believe the same place made the two halves of ribs. Like the first, tough to pull apart. Why were they tough to pull apart? The membrane on the back of the ribs was never removed which also meant a TON of fat also was cooked and starting to get cold under the membrane. Im not afraid of fat but once it starts getting cold and the ribs were difficult to pull apart I just gave up. It's a shame because the meat on the first half was amazing and the bbq sauce was SO GOOD. All dishes that you don't pick up come with waffle fries and a roll. The waffle fries are good. Nothing special, though. Salted evenly. The roll is okay. I got one additional side: THE PICKLE!! it was the most satisfying part of my meal. read more

It's best to know what you want before getting in line so your entire group doesn't have to wait in line... there's plenty of seating around Trappers and in New France by The Griffin. The prices are rather high considering the portions and the portion control isn't always best. I.e. the portions of side orders vary greatly, but you can always ask for a little more. Remember, the servers are there to help serve you and are running the food lines as fast as they can. Top picks: A sampler for about $18 has pork ribs, beef brisket, and chicken with fries. Feeds 2-3 people with room for dessert. Side: Mac and cheese- it's a rich flavor-filled side definitely worth it! Dessert: apple pie skillet- baked in a cast iron skillet, this tastes amazing, but isn't the nicest to look at. Pro tip: grab some ice cream in New France for apple pie a la mode. read more

Sure I'll review a location inside Busch Gardens! This place is located in the France area of the park, and so I thought the inside would be more French-themed, but its all the same cafeteria set up. The food is more centered around BBQ and I will say that the smokehouse does not disappoint. I decided to splurge and get something I actually wanted -- the ribs. It was a lot of food, so be prepared if you are not a heavy eater. I think of myself as an average eater and I was forcing myself to finish them. They were so yummy too. Not the best ribs I've ever had but definitely better than chicken tenders. The prices are absurd, but its like being in a foreign country -- you've got nowhere else to go! After walking by and smelling the wood burning, I had originally thought this would be the place to stop and grab some food. After going through the line there wasn't much of a variety in choices, the "plates" throw all the different types of barbecue together. After paying $21 dollars for one person I was quickly disappointed by how poor the quality of the meat was. The ribs were entirely fat, and the brisket wasn't flavored correctly. The chicken was so dry I had to dip it in the knock-off Carolina barbecue sauce they had. Overall, it was just disappointing for such a high price and attractive smell. It is cafeteria style like the other restaurants, but their BBQ is fantastic and their "Smokehouse Sampler" is enough food for both my husband and I to share! However, I see another reviewer said the portion size was small. Each time I have been here my food has been hot, the service has been friendly, and everything tasted great! They even have a beautiful looking salad, I didn't try it, but it at least looked good!
