When my go-to seamstress had to retire, I was nervous about having to find one in Dallas because I was used to paying ridiculously low prices and not much in Dallas is ridiculously low priced. After doing some research on Yelp, I decided to use Martha's to alter some skinny jeans that were several inches too long and too wide in the calf area. Not only was she incredibly reasonable and very talented, she's sweet and funny too. She even made my husband blush when she enthusiastically praised him for a job well done on my ring. I'll be going back. read more

I'm from out of town and needed someone to do an alteration on a suit and repair 2 pairs of pants. I found Martha's on on Yelp. For starters, she was the nicest person! She got me right in, fitted me and told me to come back in a week. She had everything ready on time, her work was very good and the price was very reasonable AND she was fun to speak with. She's in a little house at 4516 West Lovers Lane. There are a couple of others near there with similar addresses...don't go to the wrong one. read more

Love coming here. Martha is a gem and she always takes care of me and does an awesome job!

Martha is wonderful! Not only is she very accommodating to my typically short time frames, she's also very honest about my thoughts when altering something and she has yet to be wrong on her suggestions. So happy I came and will continue to use Martha's! read more

I needed last minute alterations to my wedding dress and she was willing to help even with a short amount of time! She was so nice and did an amazing job! read more

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! Two ill-fitting bridesmaids dresses reworked into perfection!! Alterations were done in a timely manner, at a very good price, and with the friendliest service I've come across in Texas! LOVE! read more

Martha was lovely, but the work on the dress looked unfinished. The way the bottom of my beaded gown was tailored up was not done properly, the beading on the top layer should have been removed on the bottom and the fabric simply trimmed as it looked prior to alterations. I caught my heels in the hem she sewed up while dancing all night long and was crushing beads as well. She also took the dress in for me. In my opinion when you have a dress taken in the inside of the dress when finished should look like no work has been done on it. It was sloppy for sure, and while on the outside it fit fine, the inside was all shredded fabric from the original seams that were left unfinished. Again, Martha was a lovely person, but her work on this dress made me 100% clear that there was no way in hell I was bringing my wedding gown to her. read more

I can't say enough about this wonderful little shop. Excellent service and the best in Dallas. I have had several suits, pants, and shirts tailored here and everything has always been perfect. She was even able to take a tie that I love (but is too wide for my taste) and turn it into a skinny tie. read more

Martha is the sweetest and most accommodating. My entire wardrobe lives at Martha's. I'm there at least twice per month. I've even recommended her for my sister's wedding dress alterations. She did NOT fail at all. Everything was done impeccably. Great detail and price. I really cannot say enough to give Her Justice. Just go and experience for yourself. read more

Needed to get a brides maid dress hemmed and have sleeves added. She did a wonderful job, and the dress looks great. She worked with me to make certain I was happy and was extremely fair with the pricing given the amount of work she put in and changes she had to make to the dress. Would definitely recommend. read more

I have been to Martha's twice for alternations and been more than pleased with the result. I used to sew and alter all my own clothes, but with a lack of time and good machine I have been looking for someone to handle the various things that come up. I have found the scheduling and the prices to be on target and the work to be impeccable. Very easy to work with, as well. read more

I had a horrible experience with her. Martha was very sweet when I went to drop off my dress to get altered. But she does not tell you the price it will be and says it depends on the time she spends. When I went to pick up my dress she made up the price on the spot which was absurd. I told her that was more than I paid for the dress. Then she proceeded and asked me how much money I make for a living!! How unprofessional!! She does not give receipts therefore I know she is not claiming taxes on any of her jobs. I will not be returning there and do not suggest it to anyone else! read more

Really enjoyed my experience at Martha's Alterations. Martha is very good at what she does, but she is also a pleasure to work with, and is extremely nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place, and will be taking anything else I need altered here. read more

I'm extremely happy with the service and the results. Service is extremely friendly. The lady calls everyone "love" or "dahling." She only takes cash or check, and I had neither but she told me to take my hemmed bridesmaid dress and just send her a check. I went to the Chase ATM down the block and returned within 10 minutes to pay her the $55. I love that kind of trust and customer service. read more

if you are black, go elsewhere! just walked into this place about 30 minutes ago and martha gave me that nasty how dare a black person come into my place of business stare..then when she spoke it was very rude and demeaning..ugh! read more

Wow, I don't know where to begin. I had a Ball to attend at the Hilton Anatole and needed one of my gowns altered nearly two sizes down. Ms. Martha made an appointment for me the same day I called and within a week had the most unbelievable size alteration I could have imagined. My gown looked as if I had selected it from the original boutique, only sizes smaller! The price for the work she did is exceptional! I highly recommend Ms. Martha and will for sure return for future services! read more

Martha was great to work with, very nice and listened to what I wanted. She actually charged me less than she initially said and her price was reasonable read more

So I don't ever write reviews- in fact, this is probably the first review I've ever decided to leave. I had such a great experience with Ms. Martha. She truly is the sweetest lady-she's extremely friendly and does great work. I had to get a bridesmaid dress altered, and thanks to the other positive reviews, I decided to check out Martha's business. She is great at what she does - my dress fits so well now- and she is just one of the most warm and kind souls out there. She's just so happy to be doing what she does. And well, it's always nice to find people who love what they do because they'll treat you a little different - for the better! I highly recommend Martha for anything you need altered! read more

Great person to deal with. The location was a little odd but she makes you feel very comfortable. Great work at a great price.

I brought my wedding dress in to Martha's for alterations based on the excellent reviews. I was in a bind... It was just a couple of weeks before my wedding and the boutique I ordered my dress from wasn't sure if they could get it done in time. The ladies at Martha's went Above and Beyond for me. They put their hearts and souls into getting my dress perfect and done in time. It was a very complicated alteration with several layers of tool and lace. They pulled late nights for me and did an absolutely beautiful job. These women truly take pride in their work and cared about my predicament. It was so important to them that I was happy with how the dress turned out. The best part is that their prices are extremely reasonable. I never write reviews, but I wanted to recognize Martha's for their wonderful work, amazing customer service and good prices! read more

Just had my wedding dress altered here. They did a great job. It was done quickly and the work was perfect. The ladies care about their customers and take pride in their work. Price was just right, as well. I would recommend Martha's to anyone. read more

I love Martha's Alterations! I was in a rush to get a suit altered for an interview, and she worked with me to get it finished quickly and beautifully. I would take anything there to be altered, she does amazing work. Could not recommend higher! read more

Martha is very friendly and wants you to be happy with the end result. She has an accent so maybe thats why some people have had miscommunications in some of the reviews. I'd recommend her! read more

Hands down the best alterations EVER! I've lived in St Louis, Atlanta, NYC and now Dallas and nobody does it better. Martha takes the time to understand what you want and is meticulous about getting the job done correctly. There are times I'm satisfied with the fit and look, but she notices something else that needs fixing. She doesn't give up until it's perfect. I also enjoy a tailor that has a real opinion when asked. She's never let me down on a tight turnaround. She's an old school tailor with flawless work at reasonable prices. The only way to go wrong is to go elsewhere. read more

In the midst of my wedding planning, I moved from Austin to Dallas. I chose my mother's wedding dress to wear to my wedding, a beautiful, handmade stunner that carried 30+ years of good luck. While in Austin, I had the dress altered to fit me (if you can believe it, my mom still had all the original fabric!) but wasn't able to complete the final details and final fitting. In Dallas, with the wedding just a few months away, I felt helpless in trying to find an alterations specialist that could handle a task of such a special, vintage dress. I found Martha on Yelp. After my initial meeting with her, not only was she so touched by my dress story but she was thrilled to take on such a challenge. MARTHA DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! Truly incredible work at a fair price. And she might just be one of the loveliest humans you will ever meet. Expect to receive lots of "love you's" from Martha. If you are thinking of wedding dress alterations (or any alterations for that matter!), see Martha's Alterations. read more

I can't say enough good things about this Ethl!! She is the sweetest lady you will ever meet. She was a pleasure to work with and was able to do alterations to my wedding dress faster than I ever imagined. And it came with a very reasonable price! I will only go here from now on and recommend her to all! read more

Yelp is actually what led me to the amazing Eta at Martha's Alterations! I took in my wedding dress, a size 11 that needed to be altered down to a size 0. Most places would have turned me down, but Eta worked tirelessly to make it perfect! I had to go in for multiple appointments because she wanted to be certain it was sized down perfectly. She actually felt bad for making me come in so often, but she was wonderful and even stayed late until I could get there. She even cried when she saw me in the final fitting. Not nearly enough people love what they do this much, but Eta truly has a passion and talent for her work. She is wonderful, and I will not go to anyone else as long as I am in Dallas! read more

I love Martha fitting. She is so sweet. And will get the job done fast. My wedding is in 4 days and she did all the work for my dress in time. And it was only $50.00 I really enjoyed her work. read more

Rudest people ever! Don't call for prices because they will flip. Glad i dodged that bullet!

Just picked my gown up, and it is PERFECT! Etta is WONDERFUL!! I will be coming here again and referring anyone I know!!!

The owner is the sweetest lady and I'm pleased with my jeans, but was discouraged that when given an opportune chance, she took advantage of me. Beforehand, we had discussed the price it would be for her to tailor some jean shorts for me, she told me $35. After I picked up my shorts the next week, I asked how much it would be (out of courtesy- didn't want to just hand her the money in case she had forgotten telling me and I'd come off as if I was assuming), and she said "Did we not discuss this?" - feeling like I'd sound stupid if I said yes, because then she would think "Well why are you asking then?" (yes I over-analyze) I said no, and she said it would be $50. I was caught very off guard and just said "Wow, I didn't think it was that much", she answered, "worth every penny". I was disappointed that when she thought I didn't remember what she had told me in the beginning, she changed the price to $15 higher. She's a sweet lady and I'm not a confrontational person so I didn't know how to say that I did recall her initially telling me $35, so I just gave her the money and left with the mindset that I would not be returning. read more

Washing machine ruined three dresses by tearing/ripping the shoulder straps and I honestly thought they were ruined for good. I took them to Martha to see if there was any chance at salvaging these dresses and she showed/explained what she would do to fix them and to come back in three days. For someone who doesn't know anything about sewing and seeing how bad the dresses were I still had doubts those dresses would ever look the way they did before. Well, three days later I come back and they look as good as new! I was in utter disbelief that she was able to fix them based on how bad they got torn in the washer. It literally made my day. I thanked her several times over and from here on out she is my go-to for any sewing/alterations. Her quality of work and expertise is A++ and I HIGHLY recommend. On top of all this, she is probably one of the sweetest people I've done business with. Thank you, Martha! read more
