Feral. This is my second time shopping here and the vibe is really odd. The place is an absolute mess, hot & dirty dressing rooms, clothes on the floors everywhere. You can tell that the staff try hard in this place, but the customers are also out of control. Corporate must recognize the volume of sales though, they get some really top line clothes. read more

If you can forgive the long lines, this is a great store. Usually organized and well stocked. Today I went looking for sneakers. Ended up in the men's section just to see, and to my surprise they had a bunch of nice ladies shoes mixed in. These cuties were just waiting for me. They have great clearance sections. Shop while you're in line from the many different items you'll flow past, and the time will fly by. Grab a pretty reusable bag for a buck, and consider it a successful Saturday outing. read more

Always the longest lines with not many staff on registers. A lot of the employees are rude. The store itself is typically a mess!!

Saw some great stuff on clearance...yellow tags. Was going to spend $5+ at the store but a worker informed me all yellow tag items go back to warehouse? What a load of bs. What store does not want to make money? Even if on clearance? Yet another store location I won't waste a penny in. read more

Still TJ Maxx's slightly neater cousin - but that's not saying too much. Basically this Marshalls looks like most others - sloppy, dirty, some decent prices, bad staff, and animalistic customers. You'll generally find some decent prices for decent items here, but make sure you check what you're buying because some items may be damaged. They do lock up some things in protective cases here, so that is a minor plus, but most things aren't locked up in that manner. My son wanted to check out the toy section here and against my better judgement I took him. I've seen better toy sections at local garage sales. It's dismal. Growing up on the LES in the 1950's-60's basically meant ghetto living. How things have changed my friends!! Back then -- most of my neighbors were immigrant, working class poor -- except possibly the shopkeepers and slumlords. Your tribal connection was largely irrelevant. Our shared sense of economic means and needs was the common framework. In this environment I made do with less -- often bartered for what I wanted with neighbors and at pawn shops -- or settled for second-hand stuff like shoes and clothing from thrift stores. There was no shame in this. It was how we all got by -- and bargains became our mantra. These days -- thrift shop buying is trendy again -- not because it is necessary for lots of folks -- but because in this pawn shop culture -- everyone craves bargains -- especially when it comes to high end goods like designer handbags and Swiss watches. Marshall's at the Bergen Mall kind of reminds me of the lower end thrift shops of my youth -- but they sell new and returned goods -- in chaotic racks -- frequently mis-marked and randomly stacked -- requiring lots of patience if you really want something specific -- like shoes -- or clothes that fit. I shop Marshall's now and again -- mostly when I don't need anything specific -- more for retail therapy and the boost I get from finding something rare -- for cheap. 95% of Marshall's preppie men's brands (e.g. Lauren, Hilfiger, Dockers, Lucky Brand, Vinyard Vines, etc.) don't appeal to me anyhow -- so I look for the one offs. When I score a Corneliani suit at 75% off retail, or Vilebrequin swim wear for $50, or "7 for All Mankind" jeans for $25 bucks -- it makes the hassle worthwhile -- mostly. The woman's department is much larger -- and despite the chaos -- sweetie says she often finds useful items here at deep discounts. Top Tip: Shop early in the morning -- they open at 9:30 am -- and you will appreciate the extra elbow room and better organization. Gets crowded on the weekends -- and jostling for browsing space in narrow aisles can get as frustrating as not finding your size. Also -- Century21 at this mall is usually a better bet for higher end men's clothes -- but pricier too. Like Marshall's -- you have to forage through the racks to find the really great bargains -- and get lucky with sizing. read more

This is a busier location, so, yes, it does get messy towards the end of the day. However, earlier in the day I've only seen it as very neat and organized. Later in the day, it's pretty wild and hard to find things as they're all over the store. They have a lot of cashiers so the lines move fast. read more

This place is a hell hole. The people that work here could care less about customer service or increasing check-out speed. Seriously, even if you find a deal here do you really want to wait 15 minutes or more in line? Waiting in line for that long does something to you. You begin to question yourself. You begin to question your purchase. You look at the selections over and over and start beating yourself up about it. But you can't leave the line. Oh no...because you just moved twelve inches and it looks like another register may open up. Oh nevermind, it's just a manager picking up floor returns. 3 associates should be enough to help the 32 people in line right? And don't even bother going to the checkout downstairs. It's usually just one cashier left to fend for him/herself. I think that's where they put associates that they're looking to fire. I cant believe I have not reviewed this Marshalls. For a long time it was a frequent stop of mine. Long before the mall was remodeled. Its only gotten better with the better stores in the rest of the mall. Parking here is ok if you get here early. A two story Marshalls with a very large mens section, this also has a terrific home section. Both on the basement floor, you can enter from downstairs too if you park in the covered lot. read more

I really want to like this Marshalls. It's in the Bergen Mall which has become a fabulous shopping center over the years and it's TWO FLOORS. Which means twice as many awesome deals to find. Unfortunately, it's not so awesome. This store is very messy, the employees don't really care and you have to go digging to find just about anything because the racks aren't set up well. Shoes were everywhere and there were just too many racks which barely gave enough space to look around with someone else in your aisle. I'm a huge fan of Marshalls, so they get 2 stars just for being a Marshalls. Other than that it's "meh". read more

The prices are extremely reasonable but the problem is the stuff is not organized. If it were just a bit neater I am sure they would sell more stuff. I like the fact that they have many lanes open for check out. Also, they have an area of the store for home goods that is really cool. I purchased my favorite pot, a blue enamel cast iron Le Creuset pot, here many moons ago. It is the best pot ever! read more

We have to all be honest with ourselves about discount stores. 1. They are not organized. It's more like walking into a thrift store than walking the isles of a coach store. Don't try and compare them or you will be disappointed. 2. Every Marshalls /tj max is hit or miss. Again it's has more to do with people's expectations than anything else. To sum it up,Marshalls has serious gold in these stores, but you may not find something your looking for every visit. Just try again in a week. I went for a pair of sweat pants one week and walked out with nothing. Went back as little as a week later and walked out of the store with 3 designer pairs for less than 50 dollars, plus I bought socks. You can't beat it in terms of value. Why not 5 stars? The cashiers could be a little friendlier. When working in retail I always found a way to at least fake a smile and be polite. It's pretty much your only job other than moving quickly. read more

This Marshalls location has improved tremendously over the years. It used to be a total dump (like the rest of the mall). I've been coming to this Mall since 2005 & have seen the transformation take place when they reconstructed/expanded the whole Mall and added all the new department/outlet stores & more food options. As a result, over time this store has improved its inventory, store layout a lot. The selection of women's clothing has seen a significant improvement, casual, winter wear, fitness wear....lots of choices. I rarely walk out empty handed. But like any discount store, it can be a bit of a hit or miss at times if you are looking for something specific. read more

This marshalls is a hit or miss. If you have the time to go through the store, you can probably find something good. Other than that, it's super messy in there and some sizes and items are in the wrong place. You rarely can find anyone to help you because most of the time they're scrambling trying to fix the rack or organize the shoe area, because when someone tries on shoes, they leave it on the floor. PROS: Got my son an awesome Halloween costume for only $20 just a few weeks before Halloween - and there were TONS of great costumes for reasonable prices, plus a HUGE selection of Halloween home decor! CONS: You have to be committed to digging to find the size you want. The sizes posted are not really accurate and everything is mushed together. I was there on a weekday in the early afternoon so I wouldn't have expected such a disorganized mess. read more

I have have been shopping at this Marshall location for a very long time. However, I have never been so disrespected in my life. Manager "Sheri" is the rudest person and should not be allowed to hold such a position. I recently had to return an item but I had no receipt. Although the item had both the store and manufacturer tags on them, Sheri refused to taken them back. When I asked what was I supposed to do with the items she answered "I don't care what you do with it"...how incredibly rude and condescending!!! This is no way to treat a customer. So very disappoint with Marshall's management style. If I could give zero stars, I would had. read more

As a huge fan of the Marshall's/TJMaxx/Homegoods chain, this store is very disappointing. Out of any of the stores in the area, this Marshalls is the most sloppy/disorganized - likely due to heavy traffic Bergen Town Center brings in however that is not an excuse. Although it is 2 floors and separated in a smart manner, the top floor (which gets the most traffic as it is women's clothes and shoes) is small, the setup is poor, and it always feels cramped. As compared to other Marshalls, I also find this store has slightly less good inventory. As if that was not frustrating enough, I also had a recent horrible experience at this store. I put ~8 items on hold (including a kimono-style jacket and a matching 2 piece set (sold separately)) and told them I would be back before closing. The employee asked my name, put the tag on the rubberbanded clothes and told me I was good to go. When I got back to the store, the kimono style jacket and the pants to the 2 piece set were missing! I asked them if that was everything and if they could go back to check and they came back saying nothing was there and they don't know what happened. I am outraged as there was only one in each size, and when I went back to the rack to look for both the jacket and the pants, I had to settle for a size up of the kimono jacket (which nearly falls off of me from how big it is) and there were no pants in any size left. I looked through the mixed pants racks and were able to find the pants in one size up, the only pair remaining. This is completely unacceptable especially because it was a less than 4 hour gap that this occurred. Not only have I learned my lesson not to put things on hold, but I will refrain from returning to this store at all costs. read more

Horrible !!! Disgusting store and staff. I purchased some boots for my husband 3 days ago. They were the wrong size and material and I brought them back to exchange them. Receipt in hand. The person whom I'm going to assume was the manager down stairs in the men's department " Barbara " told me she wouldn't be taken them back because they were worn and she couldn't sell them. I felt like I was racially profiled because the store was super busy and instead of her doing managerial duties *including things around the store * she stopped what she was doing to come stand by the gentleman who was helping me to speak over him after he had already agreed to return them to them say no!! She was obnoxious, rude , and racist!! I would never ever shop at Marshalls again. You lost a very loyal customer for good. read more

I don't care that this place is never organized! This is the one store in the entire strip mall of 'discount' department stores that I can get down on my knees and sob in gratitude for. The cutest Kate Spade and Dooney Bourke bags were less than as low as $50 in clearance, and it was so hard to resist to just buy all of them. The clearance shelves with the shoes were a nightmare, but if you're a ambitious shoe bargainer, than it is by no means a waste of time as they have even high end brands such as stuart weitzman and michael kors flats for $50 or less. It all really depends at what time if year you come in, as these stocks get updated more when there are less sales in the actual depts they're coming from. So if you're a devout Marshall's client such as I am, welcome to the club, and enjoy the perks while it lasts. read more

I have been going to this Marshall's for years. But for the first time I am completely disappointed. I took my girls and nieces dress shopping. While I looked at some items my girls and neices asked if two of them could try on clothes. I said yes as long as they all stood together. When two of them came back they said that the lady from the dressing room would not let 2 of them enter. We are talking about age range of 10 to 13 years old. I went back to the dressing room and told the dressing room attendant that I asked them to stay together. She said only two are allowe in at one time. She could have allowe them to go into a family room since two of them were trying on clothes. Or say two in one room and two in another. Very disappointed. I did speak to the manager on my way out and he said he would allow them to go in together. He also apologized, which I can appreciate. I'm an senior customer service representative, this is unacceptable, the staff should use common sense. read more
