Nordstorm is one of the largest store in Garden State Plaza, spreads over 3 floors. They have huge collection of luxury brand products that includes shoes, apparel, makeup, perfumes, home goods and lots more. The store is organized with lots of space between the aisles. There are plenty of friendly associates on the floors to help customers. I went to the Customer service/online pick up section on first floor to do a return. It was an easy process, no question asked. But there's a lack of signs around the store to figure out where things are. read more

Received amazing customer service from a Mr. Jack in the handbag department of Nordstrom, yesterday. I called in to check availability of a Marc Jacobs purse and not only was Jack super helpful and pleasant over the phone, but he also made sure to hold my planned purchase until I was able to head in after work. Is it the sleep apnea or are you just spacing out yet again" (I used to do it regularly as a kid when I was in school or at church) "!?! At least you're only writing a review on Yelp, and not driving a car or operating heavy machinery!" Ok, sorry. I don't shop regularly (or at all) at Nordstroms. I have Nordstrom tastes, but a Wal-Mart salary. So...long story short...Amazon, Marshalls and the outlet stores are more my speed. Actually, I have come here to Nordstroms a few times with my oldest friend, who has done very well for himself over the years, recently; my oldest friend, perhaps needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), actually can afford to shop at Nordstrom and actually does need that new ensemble for important business meetings (and, no, he's not dating anyone appearing in a Netflix series or being "honored" at a Yelp Elite awards dinner...). I have some very early (the earliest, in fact) memories of coming to the Garden State Plaza with my late mother when we lived in nearby Passaic County (and, during the first few years of my life, when we lived in Bergen County; my memories, fragmentary as they sometimes are, stretch back to about the age of 3). I think there was also a Bergen County Mall on Rt. 17 back then (which maybe morphed into something under a different name?). Ever since Tower Records and the much-loved Barnes & Noble closed, I avoid Rt. 17 (it's always been a horrible highway, and since they "re-structured" its intersection with Rt. 4 some years ago, it's more horrible than ever), but my friend was driving. Maybe we came at a good time of day (morning), but the parking lot wasn't especially crowded, and we were able to secure a good spot close to the store. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman my friend regularly deals with on these shopping excursions, but he presented my friend with an impressive array of pants, shirts, socks, etc. that had been prepared specifically for him. The gentleman my friend was dealing with was polite, polished, urbane. He was polite to me too, but I guess one look at my disheveled wardrobe convinced him that I wasn't going to be availing myself of his services anytime soon. My friend tried on the clothes, found them satisfactory, and paid (and paid dearly, but I guess it is true that you get what you pay for). At one point, I was wandering around the store, and noticed a shirt that actually attracted my immediate attention. It was a beautiful shirt, but as I gingerly lifted it off the rack, I noticed the $100 price tag, and quickly returned it to where it had been. (The obvious "joke" would be that I thought someone in the store had made an egregious error and inadvertently added an extra "0" to a $10 shirt, but I don't think even Wal-Mart sells shirts for $10). Nordstrom sells classy, "high end" clothing items, and if you can afford it, it is THE place to shop. I can't afford it, but I do find myself thinking frequently of that $100 shirt. I used to really love shopping at this Nordstrom but the last few times I went to this store, I left with a very negative experience. Last summer, my sister's entire bag was stolen while shopping at the shoe department. I realize that it's not Nordstrom's fault, but maybe more a testament to declining mall clientele and higher retail crime rates. Most recent experience: I bought a pair of shoes pre-sale recently at the designer sale, which is my first time experience with a pre-sale and a strange experience. I paid full price and was told to come in to get 50% credited back to my account a week later, when the sale was official. I tried to do this via phone, but the phone in designer shoes was never answered. I tried to do it online but the 800 customer service couldn't do it. Finally, I went into the store and was promptly ignored by every sales rep. After flagging someone down, they had to call the manager to perform the credit, which was less than what was promised. I felt like a thief trying to claim the credit and honestly, very unwelcomed by the sales staff. With all the major stores having designer sales, I will be making my luxury purchases elsewhere in the future. read more

Nordstrom used to have stellar service. The last time I was here, was back in 2018. I had a sales lady help me right away when I was in the handbags. She was kind and understanding. She doesn't work there anymore. Now, flash forward, there's no one helping me. No one saying hello or offering me any service. I have to literally find a sales associate. No sales associate is even greeting me. I was arguing with the lady at customer service. Where she gaslit me. Nordstorm has changed their policy. They don't stand behind the quality of their products. I kept having to argue with the lady at the customer service desk about the fact that Nordstrom has changed their policy. She said they did not when they clearly have. I understand that times have changed, but there are tactful ways of saying that. Not making me feel awful about myself. Now, there's a time limit and you need to have the tags on your items, irregardless of the quality of the item. She claimed it's just normal wear and tear and that all products go through wear and tear. I spent fifteen minutes being gaslit the whole time. I was told that Nordstrom has not changed their return policy, when they clearly have. The only way to have any service is if I can connect to a manager, but they couldn't even reach a manager. This is the last time I'll ever be shopping at this location. Since when has Nordstrom been known for belligerent service? Nordstrom has gone downhill. In service and in their policy. If you need to make a return? Needs to be within a certain time frame. If the product isn't high quality? Good luck. Nordstrom doesn't stand behind their products at all. Another fun Trend show at Nordstrom! Went with my sister-in-law, and had a great time! Met some really great people! Having my other sister-in-law, who works there, as my rep, helps out tremendously- she knows exactly which products I will love. Charlotte Tilbury is my one of my favorite makeup brands, and Brandy did my "makeover"- she was beyond awesome and fun. She knows that product line inside and out. Not happy with Nordstrom services! I am supposed to get $200 per year on alterations for things I purchase. I mostly shop at Nordstrom Rack. Well they changed their policy and now items purchased from the Rack are no longer eligible for their complimentary alterations. I enjoyed having that perk. I was also upset because the employees at the Rack are not even aware of this change. And apparently it changed 3 years ago! read more

I'm impressed with the number of items, although the selections are limited. More variety would be nice for the most part. Even though that was the case, I found some pros to this location. The store is clean and noticed recovery doesn't need to be taken care of. It's well kept up and saw there were a number of employees on the sales floor, with multiple in each department. I used to shop here often, yet will no longer as the Customer Service, specifically, the Dress Dept. located on the 3rd floor is the worst. No matter if there's a staff of 2 or 20, no one approaches their customers to ask if they need assistance. Despite addressing my complaint in writing, absolutely no one from Nordstrom contacted me. I guess quality Customer Service is no longer a priority for Nordstrom and as a result, they lost a customer. Forever. See this nice scarf? It wrinkles the second you wear it. That is why I returned it, along with a few other items, on July 11, 2025, at the Paramus, N.J Nordstrom. The clerk at the Order Pickup on the first level (where returns are accepted) took it, and loudly said, "CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE'S TRYING TO RETURN THIS? WHERE'S THE TAG? YOU NEED A TAG." Everybody (employees and customers on line) laughed. I showed her I'd bought it online on my Nordstrom app. She said the original card I used was expired, and refused to refund my debit card. "You can have a store gift card. That's it. Take it or leave it." I reported her to customer service, who followed up with a polite corporate email, asking how they can make it better. I said to clearly state the returns policy, to cancel my gift card, and to return my money. But they won't. So we're done. Nordstrom, after 20 years of love, it's plain I hardly knew ye. I'm really not too crazy about shopping in the physical stores these days! It's all about online shopping for me.... But hubby decided to purchase a few things for me and I needed to exchange one. Thus I found myself having no choice but to go to the store. It was honestly a pleasant experience. Salespeople are helpful and polite and the store is very neat and clean. Can someone please explain to me what the hell happened to Nordstrom? When this store opened it was an event like no other. The absolute most impeccable customer service, merchandise that you couldn't find anywhere else and 3 fantastic restaurants that were themselves destinations. Shopping there was an event. No sale racks. Nothing was chained up. Store clerks in suits and dresses who were able to elevate the customer experience to a level never before experienced, at least not by me. There were specialty shops within the store. RRL, Ralph Lauren's ultra high end niche brand was one, Faconnable was another. There was a piano player. I remember that The Pub on the main level for quite some time was my favorite restaurant, period. Now, all of that is gone. So my question remains, what happened? When did Nordstrom become so damn ordinary? When I walk in the mens department, nothing seems special. It's stuff I can buy anywhere. Okay, so they did away with my fav restaurant to have more selling space but the area is now filled with bakers racks filled with shopping bags for online orders. It cheapens the store and the experience. When Neiman Marcus opened I remember wondering how they were going to compete with something so exceptional. And now I wonder how they're in some financial difficulty where my favorite store across the mall has deteriorated into Macy's Plus. Maybe it's a sign of the times, things are cheaper and I guess they needed to maximize every inch of space for selling but what they are selling is the same crap as everyone else and that's never what they were about. Someone gave me $100 gift card to Nordstrom and I used it to buy a Bose bluetooth speaker because I really couldn't find anything else that I wanted. Maybe that best sums it up. This Nordstrom is very pretty and has a lot of merchandise and is pretty clean but it completely and utterly lax customer service. the worst department is fragrances and cosmetics. I find the employees not helpful or truly interested in your shopping experience only selling the product. I also find there is too much chatting among the employees in the departments. I would prefer to go to Nordstrom at short Hills or even Roosevelt field. The restaurant in Nordstrom is also horrible but that is a separate review in itself. read more

I purchased a suit for my daughters wedding. This was three weeks ago I have been through four different alterations. The fourth time was not a charm. I am a 67-year-old retired attorney who worn suits all of my life. I have never had such a bad experience. I gave the suit back for a full refund. I love getting my bras here! I used to get them in Macy's, but when I gained weight, I felt that other stores didn't carry my size. Came here in 2010 with my best friend and her mom to get a dress for me and an outfit for mom for my BFF's. We decided to all get fitted for bras while we were there. Turned out to be a reality show (thank goodness there weren't any cameras, though )! I got my makeup done here, too. I don't like the fact that the makeup counters are so close to the perfume area, because I'm allergic to perfume. But, I do plan to come back and get my "face on" here. Wow! Was in this store late last week. I think the folks from Seattle need to make a visit to this store. GSP is one of the premier malls in the US, not to mention Paramus, but this store feels more like Kohls! The Men's department is a disaster...no selection at all. The casual dress code has gone way too far... Made a return downstairs and the old customer service area which was closed long ago is now open and there are a bunch of staff just throwing around merchandise and hangers and not even looking up at the customers on line. I often shop the Short Hills store and it is much better maintained. The Paramus store needs better management...and an upgrade to its look. Doesn't feel much different than the Nordstrom Rack a few miles away...management can't be happy with that. read more

Ahh Nordstrom. This was my first memorable Nordstrom's experience. I needed to upgrade my wardrobe for work. This place had suits that were terrific. I felt like a million bucks in the clothes from here. Over the years I kept coming when on the search for a specific thing. It was always found here. Nordstrom is not a discount store. Its a place to go when you need something to be "perfect". Parking is ok if you get here early in the day. But its a busy mall, and parking reflects that later in the day. I was very impressed I was able to get Le Mer, my Armani Foundation, and the gentleman an African American man helped me with the Christian Louboutins boots but I was disappointed in the heels on the boot. This review is for Mac cosmetics in Nordstrom at Garden state mall . Went there to get my makeup done for an event and it was a total disaster. I go frequently between Mac and Sephora to get make up done and have never ever experienced this. The girl took 2 hours to apply makeup for me to only look at it and see the disaster she did. She made me look like an old lady with wrinkles of the amount of powder she put on my face. She tried to apply eyelashes several times. I look like death with no color , no eyeliner. I even showed her pic of what I wanted and it was natural and simple look .It was just shocking! The girl def has no idea about makeup because even her manager was in shock that she was 2 hours with me and accomplished nothing. Manager was great at the end but definitely should have stepped in the first time I asked her too and not waited for me to get even angrier at the situation and asked a 2nd time for her to try to fix the mess that was done. I will never ever return to this Mac again. I was almost an hour late to my event and my eyes were so red from the mess the girl put me through. My mother needed a dress for my upcoming wedding and my mom and I agreed Nordstrom would be the place to go. My mother hates, HATES shopping, so I imagined this trip would be a disaster and we would leave with nothing. We walked in, browsed a bit and finally found the dress area... and one of the sales girls (unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she had a beautiful headwrap on) stopped us to ask if we needed help. YES! My mother explained what she was looking for, colors she was looking for and off we went. Unfortunately, my wedding is in a tropical location, and the spring/summer collections aren't exactly out yet, which makes shopping for a dress a little difficult. However, our fabulous sales girl was super patient putting dress after dress out for us, pulling out all different colors and styles... until finally, FINALLY, we had a yes! The store itself was very clean, organized. The sales girls all around were wonderful. The dressing rooms were very clean and organized, the bathrooms would very clean (with a separate nursing room for mothers). I could not have asked for a better shopping experience, and my mother actually enjoyed shopping! My mother said she would definitely be coming back to Nordstrom next time she needed a dress. read more

Did you know you're not allowed to take pictures of store fronts inside Garden State Plaza? Every time I've tried to take a picture inside the mall (twice) a security guard stopped me from doing so and told me that it was against mall policy to take pictures indoors. A lot of people rave about the Nordstrom brand dress shirt. Personally, I prefer the Brooks Brothers offering. While both come in slim fits, only the Brooks Brothers brand offers the spread collar. The Nordstrom dress shirt is a bit cheaper but the Brooks Brothers shirt is a true non-iron. I have several non-iron shirts and they really live up to the name. Nordstrom also offers a non-iron shirt, but it's not the same quality. It still requires some ironing if you want to maintain creases. As for the rest of the men's department, many of the associates in the suiting department have been there for many years and are very knowledgeable. Casual clothing is somewhat of a bust and I suggest shopping at Macy's or Lord & Taylor as they are more wallet-friendly. Parking isn't an issue as there is access to a parking garage and open lot parking as well. Try the Brooks Brothers... read more
