The cashiers here pretend to return items and then steal them. One of them started to act aggressive and began coming uncomfortably close to me, stepping away from her register to do so today, all the while stating "I'm not letting you belittle me" when I was telling her that she provided me with blatant misinformation regarding a return order email. She was quite a larger person, and I felt very physically uncomfortable. I returned a pair of pants today using the same Zara bag from yesterday. The cashier told me to take the merch out of the bag. I asked why? Isn't that what you normally do in this store? She said they NEVER touch returned merch bags. It's the customer's duty. I never heard of this in any retail store. After the transaction was completed, the cashier left my new purchases on the side pushing it and telling me: here- take your items, giving me an evil eye while smirking. I asked her to place them in my bag and she refused, yelled at me and kept saying no. Eventually the cashier next to her who gave his name while she refused, urged her to place the items in my bag. She still insisted I should do it. Continued to be nasty. Alex placed the items for her. A customer on line witnessed the entire episode and complained, stood up for me telling the female cashier her attitude was disgusting. The cashier told her it was none of her business. The lady on line told her it is everyone's business and she should not work at Zara with that disgusting behavior. It escalated to speaking to the manager of the store. The cashier refused to get them and told me go find them yourself. The manager refused to give the name of the cashier telling me she needs to protect her?! Really? What happened to protecting the customers? When I inquired about store policies regarding bags: the manager said they never touch return bags. This is a lie. I've been shopping at this Zara location for a long time. The manager made an unbelievable excuse saying they want to ensure their employees are not touching dirty tissues or concealed weapons that could possibly be in the return bags or online shipping boxes. Everything both cashier and manager said were lame excuses for poor behavior. The cashier needs to be fired and the manager should get demoted. They were able to quickly retrieve the right size for us to purchase. The manager really had such an excellent attitude, assisting customers and being attentive deserves these five stars. Unable to try on clothing due to COVID19, he handled the situation with grace. Staffed by thieves. My son shopped here and attempted to return an earlier exchange. (I boycotted them a long time ago because they steal returns, claim you didn't return items to them and refuse to refund you.) The manager said the item was final sale even though no one mentioned it to him when he bought it and it wasn't written anywhere on the receipt. My son asked them to show him where it says final sale and the manager said "it's final sale based on the code, the cashier said it to you when you bought it." Well no she didn't first of all, and the manager wasn't there so he wouldn't even know, and secondly a code on a receipt is meaningless, how can anyone but an employee recognize a code means final sale. As an avid shopper at Zara both internationally and in the US, I was very disgusted with my experience at the Paramus NJ store! After shopping on the 17th at another location I was sent to Paramus and told that this store had "an abundance" of the item I needed in stock. After not seeing the item/ size I needed on the sales floor, I asked an associate and was told they would find it in the stock room and it would take 15/20 minutes. I spent that time shopping in the store; however, after over 30 minutes I asked if they had located the item and was told they were still looking for it. I continued shopping and about an hour later I asked again, and to my surprise was now told the item was not in stock. I then asked to speak to a manager, and the associate walked away from me. I then went to the register and insisted on speaking to a manager after being completely ignored. The cashier sent the manager over and I explained to him that I had come over 40 minutes away, explained my negative experience on the sales floor, and stated that if I was told the item was not there from the beginning I would not have waited there this whole time. After telling him this was not acceptable and my children have all worked in the retail industry, and noted that his time is valuable but so is mine... he finally decided to look on his phone for the item. He saw that it showed as though the item was in stock but for some reason they were not able to locate it. He said to wait a minute to see what he could do. Before trying to locate it he went over to his associates in front of everyone in the store, without showing any discretion whatsoever, and proceeded to say "don't worry it's not about you, you're fine." I didn't appreciate his unprofessional demeanor implying that this is my fault. After less than five minutes the manager shoved the item towards me and promptly walked away, without an explanation, without an apology and without any regard to the valuable time that was wasted. I then was forced to wait at the end of the line, and when I finally got to the front, the cashier even acknowledged that I should not have been forced to wait and stated "you should not have had to wait an unreasonably long time." I then stated "maybe they should make you the manager of this store, because clearly you have better customer service skills." I was shopping for my boys yesterday 9/30/2017 at the Zara store located in Garden State Plaza Paramus,N.J. horrible experience plus very rude and unprofessional staff. The manager at that time named *Junior* who refuse to give me his last name and walked away in front of the of all the other customers. Very embarrassing I was with my kids shopping for school. I asked Junior the manager for help at the cashier since they didn't have a cashier at that time and Junior says he didn't have access to the registers. Junior told me the cashier was on break and she will be back in 45 min. I left the store and came back 1/2 hr later and I see him at the same register helping others. I walked to Junior and told him how he did told me before he doesn't have acces to registers and he didn't have an answer. At that moment I asked for his last name and he turn around and walked away. I went today to get some currency exchanged and to my delight, Zara had finally opened! I was thrilled when I walked in and saw how big it was! It's two floors, men's and children on the bottom and the entire top floor is women's. This store is carrying some very unique pieces, which is another huge bonus as the smaller stores are limited. I couldn't resist and picked up a couple of pieces for my trip to Venice. It's next to Nordstrom. The only reason I didn't give it a 5star was because the fitting room staff didn't do a great job of assisting me with sizes. Other than that, this store will see a lot more of me! read more

General Zara review- highly recommend everyone skip shopping with this company. Their exchange policy (even for size) is impossible during COVID. Online you are directed to exchange at their store. Difficult to get help in store once you are able to get in due to COVID restrictions. Determined the product is not carried in the store, so then redirected to online help. Phone call with customer service rep reveals that original purchaser must call to get the exchange (since it was a gift from someone else). THEN, original purchaser calls & is told that I needed to call since the product was shipped to my address. So, after all of this back & forth, and run around due to Zara customer service incompetence, now am told that the product exchange for size cannot be accommodated because it is outside of their 30 day exchange window. 4 months ago on Halloween weekend I went to this Zara location and purchased a coat for $149. I stood in line for 30 min and when it was finally my turn and I swiped my credit card, all the sudden their pin pad froze and was asked to swipe the card again at another cash register. I asked the cashier and the manager to make sure I wouldn't get double charge as I don't live close by and have very busy schedule. They promised me that it wouldn't be double charge. And of course all lie - few days later it posted as double charge on my bank statement. I printed out the bank statement and brought it to the store. Their store manager, Tee, told me first that she cannot do anything about it and that I must reach out to corporate customer service on my own. In a friendly way I asked her if she could call for me instead as she is the manager and fully aware of the situation. Something I thought will be resolved quickly will now become a nighmare of stress and frustration for the next 4 months! Tee did reach out to corporate customer service, asked me to call them back with a reference number, sent them all the paperworks and information they needed and nothing got still solved after waiting 2 weeks. I called back again on my own I was told that at first that nobody reached out to them despite having reference number provided by the store manager, and then going back and forth with them weekly which was time consuming and very frustrating not getting my money back as promised, I decided to dispute the double charge transaction with my bank. I got the temporary credit from my bank until it was taken away after returning the item I purchased (wish I took gift card instead had I known what would have happened), and prior of the return I was told that the bank wouldn't take my credit away as it is separate from the double charge and of course the manager and cashier lied once again to me. I called back the store, and the manager said she can't do anything about it and had me speak with the lead cashier, Gina now. I went back to the store and as usual slow and rude employees. Gina called corporate customer service on a 3 way call with me and explained the situation to them again. We were told that in order for me to get the money back I must cancel the dispute with my bank, even though they at first told me I must go thru my bank and dispute it. Once I did cancel the dispute and sent them proof of this I received phone call from corporate customer service a week after and was told I need to do different. I got frustrated and called Gina back. Once I called her back she directly transferred me over to a male worker and I told him in a nice way if he could please have this issue solved and want my money back and they need to help out immediately as it's been taking 4 months and getting way out of control. Upon arrival to the store I waited 20 min for him to meet me by the register, and once I arrived he refused to greet me with a handshake (even though I was showing a smile and introduced myself) and I then turning my head I saw 4 security mall officers and police officers. He told me that the reason he called is because Gina felt "scared and threatened" - obviously because she couldn't do anything about it and also because Zara corporate itself is horrible. I have never been anything but nice to Gina all times. Very embarrassing and akwardly I was told to leave the store and that I'm banned from going in to any Zara store - DESPITE THEM KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED, ME BEING NICE ALL THE TIME AND THAT THEY OWE ME THE MONEY FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS WASTING MY TIME, EFFORT, MONEY AND CAUSING STRESS AND FRUSTRATION AND NOW EVEN SCARED GOING NEAR THAT PLACE! Zara corporate after I reached out to them apologized that they called the security officers and police on me for no reason, did finally credit me back the money, but that "based on corporate decision" still banned from visiting any Zara store. BUNCH OF CROOKS AND IDIOTS ALL OF THEM! The employees are the most incompetent people ever. Returned 13 items, my receipt showed 12. Asked them to figure out the missing unscanned item- took 2 employees to look through my returned items they both kept confusing each other. Ultimately I asked them to make sure that the 3 pairs of jeans I returned were on the returned receipt because they cost $50 each, everything else was on sale so I would've kept it moving. She assured me all 3 pairs were returned. 25 minutes later I got my emailed returned receipt (with actual pictures of the items) and naturally one of the $50 pairs of jeans was NOT on there so the employee took them but never scanned them as returned. $50 loss for me. I am a loyal customer of Zara for years and I really like their style. However their customer service at this location is horrible. Recently I purchased a leather skirt but later when tried it on at home found out it has stains. I brought this never worn damaged item with all original tags to the store and thought at least to get a store credit. The rude manager (who shouldn't be working in retail or any kind of customer service) informed me that since I don't have the receipt she can only exchange it for the same item. They didn't have my size in any color. So basically I have remained with damaged item I cannot wear. I had cut the interior tag out, because she is 15 months old, and had no plans of returning them but when the tassel on them disintegrated and the pants started shedding after 1 week I had to bring them back. The kids manager refused to accept the return or even tell me his name. He would not accept the return because I had cut the tag out. I went to Zara on the second floor today to exchange men jacket to couple of items for me. At the register SA did return first, canceled it, did exchange . After that he asked if i had CC i used for purchase with me to credit me back the balance, i said that card is blocked after fraud transactions, but i have new card and its a same account. Said he only can give me a store credit. I refused to take a store credit, since i just bough item a week ago and had proof of purchase. I asked for a manager, she was insisting on a store credit too. Then she told me to call customer service ( i though they all are customer service). I asked them to put money on my blocked card, they said it wont work . I asked to try, they said transaction is already canceled. Then i went downstairs to Zara kids and gentleman at the register took a return and i got money back on my card. That easy! I visited this location to exchange a shirt I had received as a gift some weeks ago. The shirt was too small and I didn't like it. I chose another item equally priced, as they did not have the original shirt anyways. The cashier proceeded to tell me that because I didn't have a receipt, I couldn't return or exchange it, and even told me the only thing I can do is get a different size of the same shirt (A SHIRT WHICH THEY DID NOT HAVE ANYMORE). The "policy" wouldn't even allow me to get store credit. The manager was no help either, she suggested I call customer service, which would be a complete waste of my time. Definitely was not going through all the trouble for a $20 shirt. I felt blowed off. I left the item on the register and walked away. The manager wanted me to take the shirt with me because they "couldn't keep it"z What am I going to do with an item I don't like?? Do not recommend the store. They gladly take your money when you purchase an item, but don't help you when there's a problem with the purchase. Zara unfortunately does not accommodate their customers. read more

I drove two hours to return a shirt & left the receipt at home, I had my sister send me a picture of the receipt, only to be told they can only take the original receipt...accepting a picture of the receipt is the equivalent of accepting an online receipt, so not too sure what the issue was. When a manager came over, it was extremely surprising that she behaved in a manner that is despicable from an individual who works in the CUSTOMER SERVICE industry. Anytime I've ever been in this store I only receive terrible service...I only ever step foot in this store when I absolutely need to, as I rather shop online with this company.
