I'm from San Francisco and I do tons of wood crafts and I had an outstanding experience shopping at Marshall's because of an employee that helped me! Khalil was his name and he went above and beyond helping! He was genuinely interested in what I was looking for and why? I even had a great conversation and showed him some of my art I make! He made the experience a pleasant one , he helped me find some great pieces of wood! I come up here a lot and I will be returning to that store and next time I might take his advice and make a sports team one just for him! Thank you again! read more

Long wait during checkout, I was getting a bit irritated over it. Naturally I would have left, but I spent a dang hour almost in the store. I had a handful of things, I feel they could have done more to speed along the process for the customers. Prices are generally good, I felt I got some deals. Just wish they would have moved the line quicker. They had a good halloween candle selection here which was a plus. read more

If I could I would give it zero 0 Stars, March 13,2025 today I decided to go to Marshalls worst of all experience the store on McHenry avenue . Modesto,CA. you cannot walk down the aisle if your ADA in a electric wheelchair , everything is too cramped together I actually got stuck several times I had to back out I knocked several things over I did not give a flying damn" ,. Am I upset yes! You ask the associates or workers whatever you want to call them for assistance they ignore you! They are too busy chatting away! I try to look at the cosmetic area you can't the isles are too crammed together, you can't look at the clothing aisle, why they're all stacked one right after the other literally I cannot even go down one, then I try to get in the middle of the store forget that the only thing I can do is go in the entrance of the store and get out of the store I actually had to wait right there by the little blue baskets had to call my spouse wait for her for an hour by The doors then somebody asked me if I needed help if I wanted a basket I said no why would I need one if I'm in a wheelchair that was waiting for my spouse cuz I can't go down your crap stupid aisles well I'm holding everything in my hands! If you would like to know the only aisles I can go down is the back aisle which is wide enough for the store and they blocked it too which I had to move it they put some cart in the middle of the aisle it's ridiculous! Seriously the only thing I bought at this Marshall stores were 8 reusable bags for $0.99 each( by the checkout register)two reusable bags were on clearance(hanging out by and aisle because I couldn't get down the aisles @Marshalls). I don't think I will be shopping anymore at Marshalls after today seriously it's not handicap accessible... read more

Glad to see this Marshall still remains standing in business since I was a kid in elementary school, dinosaur ages ago! Kudos to them! Must still be doing well, while I see other surrounding stores or businesses come & go! Marshalls department stores are not as many available as Ross, but glad this Marshall for Modesto still here. Since my childhood 'till now, haven't really notice any difference in remodeling or renovations, other than some rearranging of things inside the store. Place seems well-organized. The older lady in the dressing rooms is so rude! I'm not the only one who thinks this either. Almost all the bad reviews of this place is complaining about that old lady! She is cranky and has a bad attitude. I was waiting for my boyfriend to try on his clothes and I caught her talking back to customers and rolling her eyes at them more then once! I can't even believe someone like her can work in customer service. She even started arguing with a customer and being extremely rude to her it was absolutely ridiculous. I had half a mind to complain up at the front about her but didn't. Next time I surely will. She even gave me and my bf attitude for literally no reason and snatched the clothes out of his hands when he was trying to put them back. I'm honestly appalled! I'm a long-time customer of marshals and while I was shopping I noticed a toy it's a foam ball lots of beads kind of glued together but can be pinched off in clumps being sold for children there's a warning not to be in the hands of children under three but being someone who has worked in special-education and seeing the results of bad toys choking children and causing brain damage, I brought this to the attention of the managers of the Modesto store they're refusing to take this toy off the shelf I believe a child is going to choke and possibly die if I read in the newspaper that the child chokes and dies from that toy in the Modesto Marshall's store I'm going to take this recommendation to the person whose child was lost and let them sue Marshalls Dr. Michael Atinsky, Modesto read more

Maria was extremely displeasant when it came down to customer service. She said everything with a rude tone and was super condescending towards me for just asking a question. She had no right to come across that way and I was very upset. 5 stars to eveyone else except her. I am not sure if anyone else with the name Maria works there but just as reference I was there christmas eve around 1:30 to 2. Hopefully this behavior doesn't continue to be accepted and she is reprimanded. After my experience with her I do not wish to come back. Even other customers looked at her like she was crazy. Today 4/22/23 went in to Marshall's to browse around found some great items. But the Womens department was a total mess not sure if new employees are what's going on but clothes everywhere made it hard to shop and sizes were all mixed in with each other. Checking out the line went very fast was pleased. But my one star is due to the Employee named Marcus He was very unprofessional I asked a simple question about a stain on an item and was told wash it out and he walked away I then asked well if it's washed can I return it he says No I left the item and I've never been treated so rudely as I was today by Marcus please retrain or hire better employees stores really going down in last few months. read more

I love Marshall's! I can always find nicer and more expensive items for less! My best score here was a Rebecca Minkoff MAC clutch that retails for $300, but I got it for $60!! There was absolutely nothing wrong with the bag either. No tares, bad zippers, nothing. It was perfect and even came with the dust bag and tags. Went to find active wear and some blouses. I purchased 5 pieces of clothing for only $138.00. One of the shirts was a Michael Korr and the other Calvin Klein. I would have paid that for any one of those shirts at Macy's. Store was clean and dressing rooms have been recently updated. You have to dig but you can find good deals. read more

I just purchased quite a bit of merchandise as I'm redecorating a room and wanted to purchase a room spray that was half full. I asked for a discount and BETHANY the manager told me they wouldn't discount something like that. She was very matter of fact, somewhat condescending. She did offer to find a full one for me and went to grab another and came back with 2 other fragrances that were half full and one with no top. After I declined to purchase the half full spray, she turned around and made discount tags for all of them while I was checking out for my other purchases. I'm not quite sure why she didn't offer me the discount when she was going to discount them anyway. I usually have a great experience here but BETHANY has turned me off. It's sad when you frequent an establishment and the cashiers are friendly but the management are less than desirable. read more

This Marshalls is just like the rest. Easy to shop floor plan and lots of variety of just about everything. I prefer TJ Maxx over Marshalls but this definitely worked for the time being. Careful with the parking lot here also, people like to drive fast and wreck less, but I'm starting to notice that all over Modesto. read more

They have nice stuff here for household and baby stuff . I can never find any nice women's blouses for myself and if I do they are very pricey. It's a hit and miss. Sometimes I find a decent deal but most of the time I end up spending a lot more because of higher pricing compared to other department stores. I have a credit card here but kind of regret opening one because they don't offer any coupons or discount promotions at all. I have to spend $200 on my credit card to get $10 certificate ..... not worth it for me. read more

They had a surprisingly wide selection of gourmet foods (jams, spices, bloody mary mix, teas) that had me ready to eat. At Marshalls on Mchenry.. I've been here plenty of times NEVER had a problem till today.. Emily take your little attitude somewhere else not at work, she was an employee who seemed to not be happy working. I mentioned to her there was a rack really tight her response was I'm already aware of that with her mad face and nasty attitude.. I called her out on it and asked her what her name was about 10 times she ignored me i read her name tag tho.. She walked away and I didn't see her the rest of the time I was there.. The lady at the fitting room asked if I was ok and Emily was in the wrong.. She saw it all and apologized, she was the sweetest.. When I arrived in the fitting rooms, there was no one to greet me after waiting several minutes. So I proceeded to push my cart into the fitting rooms as I had my purse, as well as a family member's purse, and all of the items I wanted to try on in the cart. I was not going to leave our purses out for someone to steal. As I made my way into a dressing room the attendant walked by and greeted me rudely, telling me to push the cart back out of the fitting room and speaking to me in a tone that insinuated I was an idiot, which I called her on. There was no need to be condescending or have an attitude with me, especially when she wasn't doing her job right to begin with by greeting me at the entrance to the fitting rooms. On top of that, after I finally made my way in to try on my clothes, she called for "backup" as though I was going to try to steal something! As I came out to show the clothes to my family, she had the other associate BLOCK me, as though I would try to run out with the items I brought in the room. I found that highly unnecessary, incredibly rude, and insulting. I understand it's different at Marshall's verses stores like Macy's or Nordstrom (which is where I usually shop because of associates like this) but I also appreciate getting a good deal on clothes and don't always want to spend $100 on a shirt. So I get it - it's Marshall's - but their associates need to be trained on how to approach and speak to people better, and to treat their customers with respect, dignity, and kindness instead of making them feel like they can't be trusted to try on a pair of $7 leggings. read more

I'm a regular customer. However, last week, I was treated horribly by the older lady that works in the dressing room close to closing on a Friday. I was with my little brother and I took him to try some clothes on. Of course I wanted to see what the clothes looked like on my brother before I bough it. The older lady offered me to go in the fitting room with him and I told her "yea, I didn't even know that was allowed." As we proceeded to the room, my brother jokingly said "Do you really need to come in?" Once she heard that she told me to leave. I tried telling her that he's just joking. She rudely replied and told me no he doesn't want you in here so get out. There was a customer standing by the entrance who stared at me like is this employee really talking to me like that? So I tried standing by the entrance and she told me no go sit somewhere else. Now that's when I got pissed. I told her "there's no need to be rude." She told me sorry and said she was tired. I said that's not an excuse. I walked off pissed and I overhead that customer telling her that no matter how tired she is, she should not treat any customer like that. I sat outside the dressing room super mad. I've never been treated like this at Marshall's ever. I honestly regret not speaking to a manager about this situation, but if this every happens again, I will not bite my tongue. read more
