my sales person was rude. She rushed through my cell. She didn't ask for my email for any discounts. Some of their items are not matching up with the sale size on the floor. The cashiers have to go on the floor and verify and then I'm not giving you the sale price even though it says it they says in the wrong spot the cash register is not ringing up the right stuff. It's a madhouse in here and it's crazy and it's not fun. The store is cluttered stuff is on the floor stuff is not where it supposed to be. They should have hiring now for seasonal so they can have people stacking up on the baskets outside and keeping the area clean in the store at all times now the question is do I go to Walmart and deal with them or come back here and deal with this all Big lots stores have closed around except for this one so I came here to support, but the staff is not helping! read more

Today's trip to restock Christmas lights could have been an unpleasant experience. I walked in and saw the line,, even longer when I got in line with my purchase, like 20 people! Then an employee, Lawrence, who had just helped with loading a purchase for a customer came in and opened another register! I had the best customer service today at Big Lots in Modesto on Oakdale Rd. I purchased two large patio sets that were still in the truck waiting to be unloaded. Of course, the set was at the front of the trailer so he had to remove a lot of furniture to get to my sets. He wished hard on his own try find it and loaded on carts. The associate (I believe she may have been the manager) was super friendly while also helping other customers needs. I really appreciated her kindness today. Thank you for making our shopping experience great! Thank you Kerry (assistant manager) and Adam the hardworking man who did all the physical looking and loading. Awesome teamwork today. I was at the Oakdale Rd store on the past Sunday and there was a worker there by the name of A.J. He went out of his way to empty out a cart that had returned merchandise in it. Since moving recently I've been buying furniture and all kinds of housing items and this store has become my go to spot. They carry a lot of selection and the prices are not bad. I like that the prices are really reasonable, great quality and they offer tons of discounts. They also have a delivery source. One of our shopping items was rubbing alcohol and Zakk was able to locate it in their warehouse for us. He also reminded us of a promotion for a free hand sanitizer, which I previously received an email for. I bought a patio set online. Row chairs shipped yesterday and I was charged the full amount of $1057.16. The sofa and coffee table shipped today and I was charged an additional $701.19. When I called they said because it was in 2 shipments they charged my separately. I tried to explain that it was PAID IN FULL yesterday but was put on hold for 20 min. Then he said that the $701 was a pre authorization charge and would fall off in 3-5 days. I kept telling him that it was already paid in full and asked why they would need to submit a pre authorization AFTER I already paid. IN ADDITION THEY OVERDREW MY ACCOUNT!with the additional $701. I will never do business with Big Lots again and I may just return the furniture but I'm worried I won't get a refund. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

This expanded and newly remodeled/reorganized store is now seemingly twice the size. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. Zack, who has helped us many times, helped us pick out a mattress. When we asked if a model came in a king size. He simply walked around the display and rolled it out, already boxed and on wheels. He also roiled it to the front for us while we continued shopping. He is knowledgeable and a big help every time we visit. Thanks Zack for the professionalism and excellent customer service. Cricket at the check out was also very helpful. I love big lots they have a little bit of everything. The one on sick rd always so nice and feel welcomed but the one Oakdale rd opposite . I was looking for a rollaway bed I was told that Oakdale had 4 so drove there. I waited 45 min to be finally helped ; the gurl who helped was busy chatting in the patio area sitting on the chair .When I finally was getting rang up she didnt have a bar code or item to scan it so waited another 15 min ughh then she threw my rollaway bed and scratched it. Come to find out she was a Manager. Trust me I'm not going to that location no more. read more

The Christmas section is awesome! Lots of cool decorations & craft ideas. The regular craft section could use a bit more variety. Lots of good deals. The quality of special tech deals needs a little more research. I havent bought a Bluetooth speaker that didnt take a dump within weeks or even days after purchasing. Overall, however, this store has a lot of great buys, especially this time of year! read more

I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful employee, Cynthia, is. My story goes like this: Just moved. Needed some rods & drapes. Bought 2 rods & 2 sets of drapes (the last they had). Few days later we decided to drape another area. Had to go to the Sisk Rd store & bought the last pkg of drapes that matched our previously purchased ones. But, no rod was to be found. So, back to the Oakdale Rd store. Nothing in the rod aisle. We tracked down Cynthia & were we blessed to have found her! She searched everywhere & had to get a few different ladders to further her search. Alas! This (saint) found the very last rod that matched our previous rod purchase. She's worked there for 17 yrs so she is very in tune with superior customer service! I hope her boss (Scott) knows what a exemplary employee he has in this person. Came here a few months ago and put some recliners on their lay away. All the guy told me was that I needed to pay at least ten percent and have it paid off within six months. The second time I went in to make a monthly payment the same guy started harassing me trying to get me to pay it off quicker saying, "I don't know if we'll have these chairs in stock since they've been discontinued. You might want to pay it off sooner." My response was, "If you don't have what I ordered then you'll refund me my money." The next time I went in to the store there was this really nice guy who helped me with making a payment. So, today's my dads birthday and I went in to make my final payment and pick up the chairs and I got the pocked faced rude guy. I let him know I want to make my final payment and pick up the furniture. He rings me up and then says they don't have any in stock. I ask him when they'll be in stock and he says he doesn't know and that the receipt says to give them two weeks once it's paid off. So I'm irritated because my dads gift is delayed and I let the guy know, "I'm not reading this massive receipt of words. This is bad customer service and something you should tell people!" Long story short avoid the furniture department at Big Lots, because they're not upfront about their purchases and if you want something when you pay for it you'll have to just pay a little more and go to a more reputable place. Gave this place two stars because everyone else in the store is as kind as can be! read more

Very friendly staff. I was welcomed as I walked in the door. I shopped around and easily found everything that I needed. The store was neat and clean. Several lines open when u went to check out. This is a nice store. They might be under staffed but the service is good and there friendly. The store is stocked well. Plus it's clean. Prices are very competitive. My only complaint would be that they don't have very many carts. Other than that. I shop there at least ones or twice a week. read more

Love this store! They have a designated area for clearance which rocks because today I scored 13 boxes of cat food for .97 each. Also got 3 bags of cat food for $2.97 each. My two fur babies will be good for awhile. The only bad thing.. hence the one less star. Right when we walked out the store I was checking the receipt and the lady had charged me 1.79 each for the boxes of cat food instead of .97 so it was a $10 difference. SO we went back in and there was only one cashier and a huge line.. So we waited.. then she had another cashier came so we went in his line. When we got up to him he told us we would have to go back to the original person who checked us out.. which I thought was weird. So I said Ok.. Three's times a charm.. I also noticed his name tag just said furniture so I figured he didn't know how to do it.. But being a man, he won't admit he doesn't know how to do something.. So then we go back in the original cashier's line and then another lady opened and my husband asked if she could do the transaction, she told us yes. PERFECT! So we headed to her and she got us our $10 back. Easy peasy.. read more
