We went to Marmo for my partner's birthday dinner this weekend. Since the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks, we expected there might still be a few kinks to work out. Overall, we had a very good experience. The food was excellent and the waterfront setting is beautiful, although there are a few service and operational issues that could use some refinement. When you enter, the former restaurant space has been divided into two restaurants, with two doors at the end of the hallway. We didn't see signs identifying them, so we initially went through the door on the left before realizing Marmo was directly across the hallway on the right. It was no big deal, but some signage would make it a little clearer for first-time visitors. I made our reservation through OpenTable a few weeks in advance, requested an outdoor table, and followed up with a message to make sure the request was noted. When we checked in, we were initially taken to an indoor table. Once I mentioned our request, they quickly corrected it and moved us outside. I assume this is one of those small things that will get smoother as the restaurant gets established. The interior looked very nice. You first walk through the bar area, where a piano player was singing when we arrived. It created a lively atmosphere, although it was a little loud. One thing that immediately stood out was that the hostess gave my partner a handwritten birthday card from the restaurant. That was a genuinely thoughtful touch and a great way to start the evening. Our table outside had a beautiful view of the Annapolis waterfront. If you sit outside, keep in mind that the dock is open to the public, so there can be quite a bit of foot traffic passing the tables. It didn't really bother us, and we enjoyed watching the boats and activity on the water. We were seated directly under a speaker that was initially turned up so loud that we had trouble hearing our waiter, but they turned it down as soon as we asked. There was another small issue with our drink order. The first non-alcoholic drink my partner's son wanted was unavailable, so we chose another option. Our espresso martini and glass of Brunello came out fairly quickly, but his drink never arrived. When our waiter came back around about ten minutes later, we asked about it and learned they were out of the second choice as well, but no one had let us know. Fortunately, the food was excellent. We shared the oysters, calamari, and octopus for our antipasti, and all three were delicious. The calamari was our favorite. It was a much more interesting preparation than the typical fried calamari and was one of the surprises of the evening. The food runners brought everything out fairly quickly, and the staff did a great job clearing dishes as soon as we finished with them. For our main courses, we shared the larger squid ink campanelle and the lamb lasagna, which was one of the specials that evening. Both looked delicious when they arrived and tasted even better. The squid ink campanelle was amazing and was probably my favorite dish of the night. We finished by sharing the tiramisu and raspberry gelato, and both were very good. They brought the tiramisu out with a lit candle and wished my partner a happy birthday, which she really enjoyed. Together with the handwritten card when we arrived, those little touches made the birthday dinner feel special. The main area I think Marmo needs to work on is service. For an upscale restaurant at this price point, I would have liked our waiter to be a little more attentive and come by the table more often. There were times when we simply had to wait until he came back around. Between the reservation note being missed and the unavailable drink not being communicated to us, the service wasn't quite at the same level as the food and setting. That said, Marmo has only been open for a few weeks, so I'm willing to give them some time to work through those issues. There is a lot to like here: excellent food, a beautiful restaurant, a great waterfront location, and thoughtful touches for a special occasion. I would definitely come back. The food alone makes Marmo worth another visit, and I'm interested to see how the overall experience develops once they've had a little more time to settle in. read more

The restaurant is undeniably gorgeous, and the staff is fantastic. That said, this is not a place I'd recommend if the food is your priority. Unfortunately, nearly every dish missed the mark. We started with the happy hour menu. The meatballs were quite dense and a bit dry, and overall lacked flavor. The Tuscan fried chicken wasn't bad, but the seasoning seemed to be added after the chicken was plated, so the pieces underneath were noticeably less flavorful. From the main menu: Scallops: Decent overall, but the nuts added an unpleasant texture that distracted from the scallops. A more delicate crunch, like flash-fried chopped garlic, could have worked beautifully and added another layer of flavor. Hamachi crudo: Probably the biggest miss for me. The hamachi was sliced far too thick for a crudo. This is the kind of dish you want to almost melt in your mouth. The passion fruit was also overpowering, and the dish really needed more acidity and balance. Burrata salad: Another dish that felt like it was missing something. A vinaigrette would have added some much-needed acidity. Even whipping the burrata with a little garlic and a touch of salt could have given the dish more dimension. Pork shoulder: Overly sweet for my taste. Squid ink campanelle: Decent, but ultimately not particularly memorable. It's a beautiful space with genuinely wonderful service, which made me want to love the food even more. Unfortunately, after trying a pretty broad selection of the menu, nothing really delivered. I'd come back for the atmosphere and a drink, but not for dinner. read more

We came here on a quiet Monday morning because it was conveniently located in the same building as our hotel. The blonde hostess initially told us it would be just a few minutes to bus a table, then changed it to a 15-minute wait. We found a bench just outside the entrance and sat down. After about five minutes, I went back in to let her know exactly where we were waiting so she could come get us when our table was ready. Twenty-five minutes later, after watching six different groups leave the restaurant, no one had come to get us or provided any update. We finally walked out. Don't waste your time. The service wasn't worth the wait, and the food isn't memorable enough to justify it anyway. read more

We had an amazing experience here. They let us bring my dog to their outside deck which had great views of the water. We started off with their Limoncello and Aperol Spritzes. For food, we shared the Squash Blossoms, Squid Ink Campanelle (quite generous with the crab meat) and Atlantic Swordfish al Livornese. Everything had great flavor and was delicious. Marmo is a restaurant and bar located inside of the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, Autograph Collection. We popped in for bevy's only. The spicy marg was just ok, but the tequila espresso martini shots may have me make another visit. Beautiful space with outdoor seating right on the water. Service was good, it was a pretty busy day so I think the bartenders did their best to ensure everyone was greeted and served in a timely manner. read more

My husband and I love trying new restaurants and were really looking forward to Marmo, but unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. Despite having a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. The dining room felt sterile, and the overall layout and flow of the restaurant was awkward and disjointed. The pacing of the meal made no sense. Our drinks took forever to arrive, but then the food was rushed out to us. The meatballs were completely tasteless. The bread service was also strange--we received one piece at a time from a shared basket being carried around the dining room. Personally, I'd much rather have a small bread basket brought directly to our table than bread circulating around a crowded restaurant. For the price and all the hype, we expected so much more. To the owners: Make a reservation at Osteria and take plenty of notes. Having been to Italy several times, we know what a warm, authentic Italian dining experience can feel like--and Osteria gets it right. From the atmosphere to the food to the overall experience, it feels authentic in every way. Marmo has a long way to go. read more

It was exactly fine. Go to Luna Blu up the street to get the same quality for 60% of the price and slightly bigger portions. Plusses: attentive, friendly service, plenty of options, pork shoulder was a truly impressive dish - only thing actually worth the price. Nothing was *bad* at all, just expected better for what we paid. Minuses: Atlas strikes again; OK food for stupid prices. And while the food was genuinely decent, the drinks were laughably weak. Wanted to try a new restaurant downtown for date night. Unfortunately this missed the mark many ways. First as many others have mentioned, while the restaurant has a nice view and interior, it is way too loud inside and crowded. You can barely hear the person next to you without yelling. The wait staff was excellent I have to say, no complaints there. The biggest issue was the food. We ordered an assortment of things to try (chicken parm, mushroom risotto, ny strip and a side of polenta). Everything we ordered just missed the mark in terms of flavor. The steak had a weird taste that almost tasted like burnt popcorn. The polenta was watery and too sweet. The chicken parm tasted like it was pre packaged and heated up and the risotto was undercooked and had awful flavor. The steak I also ordered with two sauces to try (bone marrow and a rosemary fat butter). One came out looking like nacho cheese and the other was like a bernaise sauce. Both were awful and belonged nowhere near a steak. To her credit the manager came around and asked about our meal and I let her know about the steak and she was very apologetic and wanted to "get it right". I agree with other reviews here they would do well to go dine at Osteria one night and see how the dishes and service are elevated. For the price you can absolutely do better in Annapolis. read more

The food and drinks were very good. Started with a round of drinks. The aperol spritzes were delicious. However, the drinks took way too long to get to our table. I liked that the menu had the option of small or large for the pasta dishes I had the cannaloni which was delicious. Started with the chopped salad(( good taste but in my opinion had too much dressing) The ambiance was very nice especially with the window wall to the water open. The restaurant was very crowded so was noisy. The restrooms were too small for the number of seats in the restaurant. There was a line at the ladies room. I would also suggest cleaning and restocking the ladies room more often when there is this type of crowd. Overall good food and drinks and nice location. We will come back again. read more

The renovations of Italian Pussers is definitely beautiful. We were looking forward to trying marmo since we like other Atlas restaurants in the area, however it was a big disappointment. The restaurant overly loud and you couldn't hear the waiters when ordering, in fact we ask several questions about the menu to the waiter and he didn't know how to answer and was very unhelpful. The service and experience were overall poor. Also what's up with the bread basket guy going around, climbing over every table just to serve you one piece of bread. Much rather have your own personal bread basket for the table. For the price of everything I would skip. There are much better Italian options in Annapolis. read more

Beautiful location. Excellent, and friendly server. High expectations going in. Overall the food was very good with the exception of the NY Strip which tasted like beef jerky. Long wait for drinks and appetizers. One drink served was not what was ordered and tasted horrible. Way too much foot traffic around the outdoor tables which negated the view and the vibe. We were celebrating a big anniversary which they were aware of at the start of the meal but never did anything special for it. A restaurant with this high of a price tag need to be exceptional - unfortunately Marmo did not hit the mark. read more
