We hired Mark's Hometown 'cue to cater the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding. We had several guests with food allergies, including the bride. It was important to us to have a meal everyone could enjoy a good part of. I had a great conversation with Darrel a month prior and he was very willing and able to prepare the meal to meet our family concerns. It was very refreshing to hear a chef wanting to do something a little different, yet still delicious, so all could enjoy. He made suggestions and told me how he could prepare the dishes safely for those with allergies. And wow did he deliver! All attending the dinner raved about the entire spread. Those with the allergies were so happy with what was available to them, while everyone else didn't even notice what was missing, because the flavors were still amazing. We ordered the smoked chicken, brisket and pulled pork, salt potatoes, black beans and corn on cob. The variety of sauces were fun to try. I'm not going to rave about how amazing the Brisket or ribs or sausage or chicken or burnt ends are. Everyone has their own idea of what BBQ should be. That being said... IT IS AWESOME! But here's what you should know: There are only a handful of semi-local places trying to use BBQ as their theme for selling their food. This place is not doing that. They make amazing BBQ. Period. It's not a gimmicky fancy restaurant using BBQ to lure you in and sell you drinks or other stuff. These are real BBQ people making proper fresh BBQ. We've been here four times. It's consistently great. They have a set menu of options, mostly meats sold by weight. We got the MOTHER-LOAD - sample of everything they make. It's good for four strong appetites. There are tables to sit at, but this is NOT A sit down fine dining establishment. Be ready to get serious about food by the pound. There are paper towel rolls on the table and heavy duty plastic cutlery. Kids can eat here. Bring teenagers or college kids. They'll all be happy. They are currently NOT open Monday-Wednesday. Husband is always on the search for great BBQ, he found some today at Mark's Hometown'cue! I can take or leave BBQ, but let me say this was some of the best I've ever had. Located in Warrensburg, counter service with a few tables for dining in. The pictures around the place are great, the story about Mark is posted, very cute, bringing together the Adirondack and BBQ themes! We had pulled pork, brisket, cowboy beans, coleslaw, mac n cheese and of course French fries - if you know me, I have to try the fries! We got cornbread for Bob to try later. Everything was delicious, the meat was so tender and moist, what flavor! Coleslaw is vinegar based, which I wasn't familiar with but I will definitely get it again! Cowboy beans were yummy, they have pulled pork in them. I found them a little saucy, but still delicious! Mac n cheese and French fries were good, but the meat and Cole slaw stole the show for me! The meat didn't need sauce but of course we had to try! Carolina sauce was so good, a thinner sauce with a kick, I could probably put this on anything, maybe even drink it!! We also tried the crack sauce, a mustard based sauce and I can understand calling it crack! Lunch/dinner was $50 and we have enough for at least one more meal, possibly two. Located in the former Heck of a Pizza building, Mark's Hometown'Cue opened very recently. The owners (not from Texas) seem to have relocated operations to Warrensburg from South Burlington, VT. This casual Texas style BBQ restaurant is currently open on the weekends (Fri-Sun) and serves up BBQ meats such as beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, pork ribs, beef ribs, chicken, burnt ends, dinner plates, sandwiches, frito pie, brisket nachos, and a variety of sides. They also have 4 BBQ sauces, including Carolina sauce, Man Bear Pig sauce, Crack sauce, & Maple BBQ sauce. The place is pretty casual, which is order & pay at the counter and there is table seating and plenty of framed colorful pictures on the walls. I stopped by Mark's for takeout recently. The place was quite busy. I ordered the Smoked Brisket Nachos ($16 plus tax), Large Texas Potato Salad ($7 plus tax) and Cornbread ($2 plus tax). My food was ready to go within 5 minutes and I also dispensed each of their BBQ sauces to try out with the nachos. The Smoked Brisket Nachos were very plentiful with nacho tortilla chips loaded with chopped pieces of tender brisket, guacamole, macn cheese, salsa, and Carolina sauce. The potato salad had a creamy and smooth taste. The corn bread square was not too sweet. Overall, the food I ordered with the BBQ sauces all tasted pretty good and very filling. Best brisket I have EVER eaten ! Wasn't sure what we were going to try when we first went in, everything looked so great! We had the opportunity to meet Darryl, (the owner, super nice guy!) he said they were known for their brisket snd suggested we give it a try. I want to start by saying I LOVE BBQ! Saw that Mark's Hometown Que was open and was drawn in by the smell of hickory smoke. We chose the Pit Boss which included ribs, brisket, pulled pork and two sides. This was a mountain of food for two people. Ribs were tender and nicely seasoned with still some structure. Pulled pork had tons of flavor and nice and juicy. And the mark of a good pitmaster is a brisket that is tender with a good bark. Chef Darrell nailed it. Sides were very good as well.
