We had such a great experience at George Henry's. My husband and I started with the soft pretzel which was delicious. For our entree we had the signature burgers served on farmhouse bread that was soft on the outside and perfectly toasted. Easily the best burgers we've had in Lake George. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in the Adirondacks. It's warm, welcoming, and full of character. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the owner, Todd, took the time to chat with us and made us feel genuinely appreciated as guests. Can't say enough good about this local gem. Friendly staff, great food, and wonderful atmosphere. I walked in with the fam, was sat immediately and drinks in 2 min. We all ordered - upgrades and options explained clearly. The food? AWESOME! Comfort food at its finest. I had a Reuben type sandwich (I forget the name) but it was OUTSTANDING. Overflowing with meat and packed with flavor. Wife got a turkey sammie/soup combo. The French Onion was bomb! Turkey Sammie was huge. We all took food home. All in all the service was great, food was great, and had reasonable prices. Ditch the overpriced Canada Street LG strip and come here - you'll be happy you did! This place was really awesome and only lost 1 star from my kids meal. Applesauce from a pre packaged pod screams markup and is tasteless. Can get the same at the school lunch line. Also, the quesadilla was really lackluster and was obviously cooked and sat b4 arrival. That is such an easy order I'm surprised it got overlooked. Other than that? Amazing spot! My group came here after we went skiing and we enjoyed everything. Food, drinks and service were top tier. If you like spicy, try the ghost pepper hot sauce. This stuff was so good I asked for some extra to take home and the sent us a jar! This place makes you feel like family. We will be coming here every year from now on. "Peachy Keen Tacos" and "Sweet Fries" were great, as was the chili. The wait for the food, NOT great. Took a good hour to get our food order. Draft beer selection was good but a bit IPA heavy. The drink menu indicated the drafts were 16 oz but we kept receiving 12 oz mugs. Every time we were served a beer, the beer had a good one or two inches of head (that's a negative). We didn't crow about any of that but that's what Yelp is for! The place is well maintained but parking is quite limited. The servers were all very pleasant and attentive. The lighting needs work. The lights throughout are too bright and/or they need frosted globes around them. When you're sitting down, you're staring at bare bulbs. The bulbs have hoods/shades over them, but they aren't doing much as they are more like lids. I'd go again, but would order something like the hot pretzel, figuring it might not take too long to get (but then there's that chili I mentioned ...). And I'd kick back any 16 oz drafts that came in 12 oz mugs. read more

Oh boy, where do I start. We visited this place last weekend because it was reviewed pretty well. Well, ya let me down yelpers! ...Slow service is an understatement. We came here around 6 o'clock with 2 very hungry kids because there's not much in the way of restaurant choices around.... Idk if the cook went on break or what but for a good half hour to 45 minutes nothing was coming out of the kitchen other than appetizers for the table next to us. Hubby ordered a Filthy Pig sandwich, I ordered a Flat Stanley Burger, my daughter ordered a Cobb Salad with and my son ordered chicken tenders... it shouldn't have taken over an hour to make and serve... the wait staff seemed to be leisurely waiting on tables. Then once the food started coming out they were racing to get the food to the tables. The Food itself was just okay. Definitely not 5 star worthy IMO. Overall I was not impressed and if we ever return to the area we don't plan on returning. Edit: In response to the owner's response, I never said I expected fast food service but waiting for over an HOUR for your food to arrive is completely unacceptable no matter where you go or how short staffed you are.... 2nd Edit: it was not July 4th weekend. It was the weekend of the 24-26th. I'm not looking for a refund. I gave an honest review of your establishment. My husband and I always try to get up to the Adirondacks whether for a quick getaway from CT or a long getaway. This time we chose to stay in the Warrensburg area and we tried out George Henry's for dinner and a drink. Jackie (I hope I spelled her name correctly) was our server with a huge smile. The ambiance was rustic and welcoming. The walls had old menus up from the 1940's, and your classic Adirondack decor. Allan had their Pork ossobucco and a brown ale. That meat was soooo tender and juicy. I had a Sonic Margarita which was top notch, and their homemade Mac and cheese. Jackie was great with allowing me to order some chicken to add on! I have been to a lot of places, and Mac and cheese is my thing. Especially when you say it's homemade! The sauce..... I was practically looking for a straw because you could drink that like a cheddar soup! It was extremely flavorful and I have to admit some black pepper in it was a nice touch. The chicken cooked to tender perfection. The pasta was the correct temperature and the melted cheese crust over the dish, I have no words left. I normally don't finish a plate cause Mac and cheese is sometimes too filling of a dish. The portion was just right and if you made it through my review, then you get why I was unwilling to leave leftovers. A hidden gem for sure....have been a few times and always a good meal. Stopped here tonight on our way back from the Adirondacks, opted for the Osso Buco and it was fantastic!! My wife and I came here after spending the day in the area touring the maple festival. This was actually the third place we stopped at... one other place was closed, and one was a dump. If you are in the area during the off season, your choices on where to eat will be limited. The setting was cozy and our waitress was friendly. We saw lots of people eating who had been touring the same places as us, and they must have also come to the same conclusions are where to eat. Service was slow but I don't know if that was an issue with the kitchen or the single waitress. I ordered hot barbeque wings with a side of habanero-ghost pepper sauce. The wings were small but 13 in number. They were good at the start but by the end the gloppy sauce just made a mess of my hands and face. The wings were soft and tender, more like roast chicken. My wife had a sandwich with turkey and aioli and it was good. However, her side of fries were definitely the highlight of the meal for me. Out of a freezer bag but very crispy. The "ghost pepper" sauce was missing any real heat, sadly. It was a nice meal in a cute restaurant. The kids in the nearby tables seemed to be enjoying their food, so if you want something equivalent to a family style chain restaurant this is a good pick too. read more

We'd intended to grab lunch at New Way Lunch, but noticed that George Henry's was open. We entered the foyer and were greeted by clear signage that all the staff were vaccinated and that the restaurant was adhering to all guidance on providing safe dining. It was an instant pleasure to have any concerns addressed right off the bat! I had a daily special, flatbread pizza and also some sweet potato fries. My wife had a Smoke Stack. When you walk in you assume this is going to be just some average pub fare; you are wrong... I mean that in the best way possible; I mean I'm glad I was wrong! The waitress we had was fun and attentive. I split the one pound (you read it correct) burger with my dad and it defeated me. It has cheese and oscars amazing bacon!!! I also had wings the spicy bbq is on point. My dad has the medium buffalo wings they had no heat so go hot. The salad is amazing my cousin had the buffalo chicken salad! The French onion soup ranks up there with some of the best I've had. The boneless wings are great as well; I just prefer traditional. As a Philadelphian, I was tempted to try the "Smoked Philly," but as its description read more like a French au jus sandwich, I went with the Local Burger, which turned out to be a good choice because the half-pound burger with Oscar's bacon, Oscar's smoked cheddar cheese, and Oscar's More-than-Mustard with homemade pickles and the onion rings I subbed for fries/homemade chips/cole slaw were both delicious and together made up for our appetizer: incredibly lackluster George's Favorite Fries (hand cut, soaked in buttermilk then battered and fried to a crisp served with garlic-dill aioli), which simply had no flavor (not even salt!) and were undercooked. I can't say enough good things about this place. Let's start with the service. Best service I've experienced in all of my travels. Jordan has been my server on a couple of occasions and she has to be the best server I've ever had. (Anywhere) Her personality is so warm and genuine it just helps to kick the meal off well and her attention to detail keeps the experience unforgettable. Now, my review would not be complete without talking about the food. I stick to the burgers but my family has had almost everything on the menu and has always walked away extremely satisfied. The restaurant remodeled recently and is quaint and comfortable. It is a family operation so make sure you call as I've checked yelp for any closures and have been surprised when I arrived to find a note on the door stating that they are closed for a family vacation. My experiences here have gotten worse every time I come. The wings are never amazing anymore, sometimes cold, sometimes lacking sauce, sometimes overcooked. Just haven't been great. Favorite flavors are still hot, parm garlic, and sesame ginger. Tuesdays are all you can eat wings for $15 (I think), but the wing quality was the worst on this day I didn't even want to eat that many The appetizers we've had were all really bad. Spinach artichoke dip is velveeta quality dip, with very little spinach and maybe two artichokes. Tortilla chips are good. The nachos are ridiculous - so bad. A bowl of cheese sauce, chips on top, a random scoop of salsa and a scoop of tomatoes, maybe 3 jalapenos, some sour cream and olives. All seemed to be out of a can of some sort. The pub platter is also bad - cold mozzarella sticks (cheese not melted), frozen store chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, and mac and cheese bites. The lamb burger is ok - overcooked but still juicy, pretty small, tzaziki didn't have much flavor, and the sundried tomatoes could've been diced/chopped, but it tasted ok. Housemade chips need something - a sprinkle of parmesan, some salt, or something because they are pretty flavorless on their own. On top of this, the prices aren't especially cheap or anything, so that really doesn't help GH's case. If I'm spending 30 on a meal then I would hope the quality is better than a microwave meal. I'll still give them 3 stars because the wings are better than a lot out there, and service is decent. read more

Whelp, they changed the menu. It's AWESOME. I thought quite possibly my love affair with GH's just might have hit the skids, but nope.. they've renewed my faith in damn fine food in a no-frills wrapper. To be 100% honest, the +1 had some serious health issues, so we haven't been in for about a year. Any fan of Diners, Drive-in's and Dives will LOVE GH's. We started with the pork wings: Lean, tender, bone-in pork shanks tossed in a sweet and spicy Thai chili glaze served over citrus coleslaw. We wiped the plate CLEAN. Tangy, spicy, flavorful. WOW, just wow. I've posted before about the turkey burger, it no longer is a special item, they offer the substitution with any specialty burger on the menu or however you want it. I had "the Local" which featured Oscars bacon and more than mustard with pickles. Sounds strange, but damn strange tastes GOOD! I am not a volume eater, and I did fill up on some pork wing, so I left the top of the bun off to cut down on bulk. The turkey burger was juicy, delicious and the combination of accoutrements blended for a delightful slightly sweet, savory with the right amount of acid.. My +1 had the Irish Cheddar burger and RAVED. There were patrons nearby also boisterously enjoying some steamers.. which I don't eat, but more importantly could not smell.. Eyeballing the new offerings there are a host of things I can't wait to try: Poutine Skins: Lightly-fried potato skins with Oscar's hickory-smoked bacon and melted cheddar cheese curds topped with beef gravy AND Not Your Father's Ruben: Thick cuts of our own in-house, slow-cooked corned beef, caramelized onions, sauerkraut, diced Oscar's bacon, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on grilled marble rye. Guy Fieri take note.. or don't, I don't want to have to wait for a table. This place is the BEST kept secret in the area. It is 100% better than any restaurant in Bolton Landing and 1000% better than any place in Lake George. Every summer, the family makes the pilgrimage to Lake George, NY. This has been an annual family tradition since the inception of Gaslight Village and when LGPD worked the intersections on Canada Street. A few summers ago we stumbled upon this gem where the food is not only top notch, but the service rivals the Walt Disney World like experience. Last night was no different. There was five of us and we took advantage of their Tuesday Chicken Wing Deal (10 wings/$6.99) and one of us got a burger, renowned for their use of local butchers. Coming up from the 585 (Rochester, NY), we were no strangers to outstanding chicken wings. I can honestly say these were some of the largest wings I have come by. They were cooked to perfection and sauced generously in their Buffalo Mild sauce. Unlike most joints that do wing specials, bleu cheese and celery were included here, an ample amount to boot. We also indulged in a basket of fries that came to the table piping hot and crisped to perfection. I can't say enough of how amazing this local joint is, but we're sure as heck happy we found it. Usually have great meals here, but Saturday night was not up to par. Arrived at 7:25 and finally got our food at 9:00 after chasing down our waitress. Nachos arrived with burned brisket and no cheese at all. Turkey sandwiches were pretty good but missing the cranberry mayonnaise. Raw French fries and very weak drinks topped off our evening. Our party of 5 was very disappointed and after expressing our disappointment to the waitress, she claimed it was very busy due to the Columbus Day holiday.
