Well three and a half years later....this store is still amazing! I took two screens here that sustained damage during the hail storm in July, and the cost to re screen was very reasonable. I wanted to put together a "poor man's water jet/drill". I asked for help to find the right pipe and fittings and had a list of what was needed. I was treated like the woman I am and was told that they didn't have everything that was needed. The man wouldn't even look at me and got busy on his computer. I asked where he suggested that I go and he looked at me with distain, scoffed and said he didn't know. They were simple parts but there are two aisles of fittings and they were marked with small letters. I left and went to Lowes down the street. 30″ length of 1/2″ black iron pipe, a 1/2″ to garden hose adapter, a ball valve, a 90* elbow, a 1/2″ to 1/4″ pipe thread reducer. The younger associates were very helpful making a spare key for me, while I was patiently waiting the manager asked if I needed help I told him no I'm just waiting for a key to be made. he gave me a weird look and proceeded to follow me around the store until my key was made and paid for at the front. He made me feel targeted and I'm not to sure if it was discrimination? GO TO LOWE'S FOR NUTS AND BOLTS, especially if you're looking for grade 3 or 5, standard sized stuff. Lowe's and Ace both sell Hillman hardware and it's 3x cheaper at Lowe's even though Ace has greater buying power because of their selection/quantity. I just paid $25 for eight 7/16 x 2" and six 7/16 nylon lock nuts, how can you support the "little guy" when the little guy is raping you like this?!?!?! Need one of the doohickeys that attach to that pipe thingamig? The guys at Ace can decipher my clueless female speak and have me walking out their door with the right doohickey along with instructions on attaching it to the pipe thingamig. Every single time I go in this Ace, I'm greeted with a smile and a red shirt willing to listen to my woe, take me to the right aisle, find the right thing and hand it to me. Just called to check and see if they carried 1/2 soft copper tubing in bulk and the kid on the phone, who was a nice friendly kid but he had no clue what I was talking about. I was trying to save a wasted trip for nothing and would have gone had they had what I needed which was 5 feet of 1/2 soft copper tubing, not hard copper pipe. Poor kid came back quoting 8 gauge wire and I asked him could I talk to someone in plumbing dept, but it sounded like no one was around to help so I said thanks and moved on. My recommendation to these younger kids with good intentions and low on knowledge, walk the store when it's slow and educate yourself to what you sell so you might make a sale. If you don't have knowledge of what you sell you really can't help yourself or your customer, and for goodness sake when you have no clue, find some help for you and the customer, it might just keep em coming back or not read more

I have not been to this Ace Hardware in years. I stopped in today looking for just a few times and was helped immediately. Shane the store manager personally helped me carry out the items once I had checked out. Besides for the great service, the store IS AMAZING inside. They have ALL the products you could want. Yeti, Stihl, Big Green Egg, Traeger, everything. It's meticulously clean and well organized. Although this location is a bit out of my way, I plan on making a point of coming here from now on. I think that this location has a gender problem because the male that I spoke with kept on correcting me when I informed him of the product that I needed to locate. I stated to him that I needed the 11.5 ounce spray can of Man O' War Marine Spar Varnish. He said to me,"You mean "Man of War." I had reiterate what I had just previously stated, "Man O' War Marine Spar varnish, the 11.5 ounce spray can." I had 8 locks rekeyed, had to bring 2 back, because they didn't work! I asked about having 2 SECURITY DOORS rescreened! Was told that they could do them, in a day for a $5 up charge each! I brought them in on Thursday at 8: am! Asked if they wanted them carried through the store, or at back door! I was told, which ever I wanted! I asked if someone could help me carry them! I was told no! He came out to my Jeep, to look at them, said they could not do them! I was told I would not like the finished product, even if he did his best! On a recent Friday night, I had the "wonderful" experience of being jolted out of my sleep at 2:30am by a beeping smoke detector. Whoever designed those things to notify you of a low battery only after 2am deserves a special place in hell. The next day I stumbled into the Ace Hardware on Ina and Thornydale. I felt, and I'm sure I looked like a cast member from Zombieland. I had enough of my wits about to me ask the young lady at the register where the 9 volt batteries were. She not only told me what aisle, she actually led me there. I was looking for 5 year batteries so I wouldn't go through this again soon. I found a 4 pack of Energizer. But Kimber, the amazing employee who had walked me back to the aisle pointed out that I'd save a few dollars buying two packs of 2 batteries (cheaper than the 4 pack). In my bleary state, I never would have seen that. Kimber was kind, funny, amazing! And she said she'd only been working there a couple of months. Somebody should give that lady a raise! I am extremely angry and upset over my recent experience at this particular Ace. I went in today to purchase a few items, including a tarp that was $10.99 according to the small paper tag underneath it. When I got to the registry, it rang up at $17.99. I told the cashier that the tag under the pile of tarps said $10.99. A store clerk went with me so I could show him. He saw that the pile of tarps that I had taken mine from showed a price of $10.99, but then said that the SKU number on the tarp didn't match the one on the tag. I don't know anyone who compares SKU's when they shop and I'm no different and said I hoped they would honor the advertised price. He didn't say anything and so I went back to the cashier, explained what happened, and asked for the manager. The manager (didn't catch his name but had glasses and was an older gentleman) went to the tarps and then came back to me at the register holding the paper tag and said the SKU'S didn't match and that he was not giving me the tarp for $10.99. I asked him why he wasn't going to honor the price on the tag and he actually said that, "customers move items to cheaper prices all the time," and that they wouldn't be held responsible for that. I asked him if he was implying that I moved the tarps to that spot and he said no, but insisted they were moved by "customers" and said, "I'm not giving you the tarp at that price ($10.99)". I told him it was a bait-and-switch and he again reiterated that customers move items to cheaper prices. Not to mention that during this whole time, another customer was yelling at me and harassing me the entire time about how "cheap" I was to complain and kept circling around me! So not only was I in dispute with the manager about the price, I was also having to ward off this irate Ace customer yelling at me and insulting me and throwing his hands up in the air, yet the manager nor any other employee told him to back off or calm down or stay out of it or to leave me alone. Not a single person. I felt like I was being attacked on all fronts and was completely unnerved when I left (without buying anything of course). I called the store owner, Mohan Saini, and explained what happened and before I could even finish he was telling me the same thing that the manager had said, that "customers move things," that they wouldn't be held responsible for that, that they do price checks every two weeks to ensure product had the right price, and that "the SKU'S were wrong," and that I should "have checked the SKU'S" before buying. I asked him if he was telling me that I needed to compare the SKU'S on every single item I looked at when shopping in his store. He didn't answer but again repeated that the description on the tag didn't match the description on the tarp packaging. I told him there wasn't a description on the tag and he said he was looking at it and told me to go back to the store if I wanted to see it. I looked at the tag many times when trying to decide which tarp to buy based on size and price and there was no description on the tag. There was a bar code and lots of tiny numbers but nowhere did I see a brand name or size because I looked many times and the only description was the price. The tag was held in place in a slot so it's possible that that info was on there but couldn't be seen because of the panel part covering the tag to hold it in place. But I shouldn't have to remove the tags on displays and compare SKU'S and descriptions to make sure a store is doing their job and correctly pricing items and putting them in the right display area I'm pretty sure I'm just like any other customer who sees an item they want, checks the tag/sticker/display, etc, for the price, and expects that to be the amount that they're charged. I am not about to pull out the SKU and compare it to the one on the item to make sure it's correct, and even then it doesn't mean that it'll be correct in the system once it's rung up. But none of that mattered to the manager or Mr Saini, and when I told him about one of his other customers harassing me and that his manager did nothing to stop it, he said verbatim, " what do you expect us to do about it? " Until today, I had good experiences shopping at this Ace but after today, I will never step foot in this store again. If I could give them zero stars, I would. read more
