Yummy and authentic Lebanese food. Homemade bread and everything seems to be of really high quality. We couldn't stop eating and there was nothing left. Only a few seats in the restaurant, primarily takeout. Street parking was free!

The flatbread with mohamara was the tastiest, followed by the kibbeh, but everything was good.

You wouldn't think it by the name, but Martha's is a Lebanese restaurant with a great menu that won't overwhelm you. The owner and his staff are extremely friendly and overall just wonderful people. I went crazy and ordered the Steak Shawerma, 3 piece Falafel, baba ghanouj and hummus. The steak shawerma came with rice pilaf and a garden salad and was so good that I'll be going back to try their chicken one. The falafel was perfect. It wasn't oily and had just the right amount of flavoring and crunch. The baba ghanouj and hummus were to die for. I seriously had to keep myself from eating the entirety of the containers. They are currently remodeling the dining area so I can't comment on the ambience, but for what it's worth I like the quaint look of the place from the outside and the ease of ordering from the window. I'm a stickler when it comes to Lebanese food, but I'm so happy to finally find a Lebanese restaurant so close to me that it has officially become my go-to place for Lebanese food from here on out! I highly recommend Martha's as your next place to eat!

And it seems I wasn't the only one who discovered this hidden gem. When we got here, the spot was packed inside. Despite this we ordered three different items for a sit-down experience, and still received everything within 25 minutes. I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap on one occasion, and it was love at first bite. The wrap itself was toasted to a perfect brown crisp on the outside, yet retaining softness underneath, where it encapsulated the ranch-like sauce where it mixed with the sliced lettuce, carrots, onions and tomatoes to give it a well rounded, mixed, creamy flavor of the vegetables. The lamb meat itself was the primary vehicle of salt and spice (with emphasis on the garlic), yet never being dry. All this being considered, the wrap never fell apart, and held together the entire journey. I made the mistake of ordering the lamp wrap my first go here, because the next occasion I came here, I got the chicken shawarma bowl. Although the rice, sauce, chicken and vegetables all inherited the same flavor profile as the wrap, the bowl fell wildly below my expectations as it was impossible to get a truly full bite of every single thing utilizing a small fork. Nonetheless, this is truly the spot for a reliable bite that emulates a small taste of the Middle East.

About a year later, I found myself craving authentic Mediterranean food again, so I started searching for restaurants around New Hampshire. That's when I came across Ayasofia. As I looked through the menu and photos, everything seemed so familiar--it reminded me of the dishes I had loved at Mediterrano. The next day, my husband and I decided to drive an hour to Salem to try it out, and it was completely worth it. After speaking with the owner, we learned that Mediterrano had actually been owned by a member of his family and that they use the same recipes. It all made perfect sense! The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, even encouraging us to return and meet his mother, who taught him these recipes. I highly recommend the hummus, baba ghanoush, salsa, and grape leaves--they're all fantastic. Be sure to order the lavash bread on the side, as it pairs perfectly with everything. For a main course, the adana lamb kebab is a must-try. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I only wish I could cook like this--I'd happily eat Mediterranean food every single day!

My husband was particularly excited by how the rice was made. The grape leaves were good and the dinners came with the red cabage and salad. Delicious. I also got the Raki, because I was having Turkish food, but all the cocktails sounded very good. We did not sit in the bar, but they sounded like they were having the time of their lives in there. At one point Rod Stewart came on over the speakers and you could hear them shouting "ROD!!!" I was like, shit - Turkish food AND the regulars love Rod Stewart? Sign me up! If we lived anywhere near here, we'd be back.

There was only one other table when we arrived. We ordered and waited about 10 minutes. Lentil soup was brought out. It was okay. 10 minutes later, we received our grape leaves... that cost $14.99. We were given four pieces (see photo). That's pretty outrageous. But okay, noted- we'll make sure not to order that next time. Another 10 minutes later, my partner received his falafel wrap. It just wasn't that good. It was pressed so there's no crispy falafel, just squished texture. It also wasn't flavorful at all. I'm waiting for my dish (grilled fish), and by the time my partner finishes the wrap, I see the waitress bringing out grilled fish... which she promptly gives to a table that just sat down. Another table starts to walk out because it's taking so long, but the owner stops them. I let the owner know that I'm ready to leave because my partner is done with dinner and I'm done waiting. She assures me that my fish will be out within 5 minutes. Eventually it comes out, but at this point I'm been waiting for about an hour, everything was brought out so slowly, and the food just wasn't that good. Well the fish and rice was fantastic - great flavor for both. Devoured the whole thing. We also ordered baklava, and again.. disappointing. Too much syrup and soaked to the point of being gummy. This was about $80 for everything. Although the fish was good, I can't handle the bad service and disappointing food.
